Carabao/League Cup 4th Round

 

With the other results in the Carabao/League Cup 4th round games, we had another 11 of our teams in action. The ones that have made it into the quarter-finals are LIVERPOOL after they won 3-2 away to Brighton. Liverpool are now on a total of 25 goals and they have now scored in all of their 7 league/cup games. CRYSTAL PALACE won 2-1 away to ASTON VILLA and are on a total of 14 goals. Villa are on a total of 19 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED win 5-2 at home to LEICESTER CITY and have taken their goals total up to 20 goals. Leicester are on 19 goals and have now scored  in all of their last 5 league/cup games. NEWCASTLE won 2-0 at home against CHELSEA and are on a total of 13 goals. Chelsea, after a goal run of 9 league/cup games, picked up their second blank of the season. ARSENAL won 3-0 away to PRESTON NE and are now on a total of 25 goals while Preston picked up their fifth blank of the season. TOTTENHAM won 2-1 at home to MANCHESTER CITY, which was probably the shock of the night. Tottenham are on a total of 22 goals while City have kept their 100% scoring record after a run of 11 league/cup games and are on a total of 23 goals. 

In the Scottish Premiership, CELTIC are still top on goal difference, after they won 2-0 at home to DUNDEE. Celtic are on a total of 37 goals and have now scored in all of their 12 league/cup games. Dundee picked up their third blank score sheet. HEARTS lost 2-1 at home to KILMARNOCK and are on a total of 12 goals and have extended their goal run to 6 league/cup games. Kilmarnock are on a total of 13 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. ROSS COUNTY drew 0-0 at home to Hibernian and picked up their sixth blank of the season. RANGERS lost their third league game 2-1 away to Aberdeen in second place. Rangers hit goal number 20.

Southampton Progress in Cup

In the Carabao/League Cup 4th round, SOUTHAMPTON who are struggling in the league, won 3-2 at home against Stoke City. Southampton are now on a total of 15 goals and a place in the quarter-finals.

In League One BOLTON won 4-1 away to Stevenage and have taken their goals tally to 26. They have now won 7 of their 13 league games played.

Still No Joy for Blackpool

In League One, BLACKPOOL have failed to win any of their last 5 league games. They drew their fourth league game 2-2 at home to Wigan. Blackpool are on a total of 27 goals.

Week Twelve

In Week Twelve of the competition we had just one winner to pick up the full £5 prize money this weekend. Our winner is LYANNA GRIMWOOD who becomes our 12th winner of the season and now the fourth lady to win on a score of 10 goals. Lyanna is in her fourth season with Golden Goals and in her first, back in the 2020/21 Season, she finished in 34th place with a total of 267 goals. Last season Lyanna finished in the winning frame in 6th place with a total of 321 goals. She had one weekend shared win. This season she is at her highest position to date. Her best team is Celtic. 100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

The race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot has changed a bit again from last week. We have joint leaders this week. We still have BARBARA BARNES (2) but now we have DAVID BARRETT now both with a total of 28 goals. In second place we now have MARK WALKER with 23 goals. In third place we still have PHIL COLLINS, ALFIE DIMMOCK and GUY DOWSETT (1). All are now on a total of 22 goals. In fourth place we still have RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 joint Champion but he is now joined with GRANT PHILLIPS and our 2005/06 Champions KEAMUS SETNA both up from five. All are on a total of 21 goals. In fifth place we have a total of 6 players all on 20 goals this week.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had just 3 of our teams without a game over the weekend and another 8 of them failed to score any goals. We then had a better weekend for results. The average score for this weekend was 5 goals up from four last weekend. Well done if you have received more than that from your teams. The highest score over the weekend was 6 goals and they came from the Scottish Cup 2nd Round where PETERHEAD won 5-3 against non-league Lochee United.

Peterhead became our 32nd Scottish team to join Golden Goals back in the 2005/06 Season. In their first season they finished on a total of 63 goals. Their highest score came in 2017/18 with their highest end of season total of 105 goals. Last time out was in the 2019/20 Season and finished with a total of just 33 goals which is their lowest score. This is their sixth season with us, and over the years they have netted a total of 351 goals to date, which gives them an average score of 58 goals per season. We currently have the top five teams here with MANCHESTER CITY going back on top after they won 1-0 at home to bottom of the table SOUTHAMPTON. City still have their 100% scoring record after 10 league/cup games. They are on a total of 22 goals, while poor Southampton are still rock bottom, as they picked up their fourth blank score sheet after a goal run of 5 games. ARSENAL drew 2-2 at home to LIVERPOOL with both teams on a total of 22 goals. Liverpool now in second place, have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. ASTON VILLA drew 1-1 at home against AFC BOURNEMOUTH and are on a total of 18 goals. Bournemouth are on 11 goals. IPSWICH TOWN lost 4-3 away to Brentford. With their personal best score, Ipswich are now on a total of 11 goals. CHELSEA won 2-1 at home to NEWCASTLE and they are on a total of 24 goals and have extended their goal run to 9 league/cup games. Newcastle picked up goal number 11 after a 2 game dry spell. CRYSTAL PALACE have won their first league game 1-0 at home to London rivals TOTTENHAM. CHAMPIONSHIP

LEEDS UNITED drew 0-0 away to Bristol City and after a goal run of 6 league/cup games, picked up their fourth blank of the season. LUTON TOWN lost 3-2 away to Coventry and are on a total of 15 goals. BURNLEY picked up their fifth blank score sheet after they drew 0-0 at home to QPR. PRESTON NE drew 3-3 away to Plymouth and are now on a total of 21 goals. After they had failed to score in their last 2 games, SHEFFIELD UNITED won 2-0 at home to Stoke and are on a total of 18 goals. OXFORD UNITED lost 2-0 away to Sunderland and picked up their third blank of the season. SWANSEA CITY lost 1-0 at home to MILLWALL and picked up their eighth blank of the season and now 5 games in a row without a goal. Millwall picked up goal number 16. BOLTON won 1-0 at home to PETERBOROUGH and are on a total of 22 goals while Borough picked up their fifth blank of the season. CHARLTON drew 2-2 at home to WREXHAM and are on a total of 15 goals. Wrexham are on 23 goals. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN won 2-0 at home to Exeter and are now on a total of 24 goals. BARNSLEY won 2-0 away to Shrewsbury and are on a total of 23 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

CHESTERFIELD won 5-2 away to Morecambe and have taken their goals tally up to 29 goals. Chesterfield have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. DONCASTER ROVERS won 2-1 away to Bradford City. Rovers are on a total of 22 goals. BROMLEY drew 1-1 at home to Barrow and are on a total of 16 goals. MK DONS won 3-1 away to Grimsby Town and are now on a  total of 21 goals. NOTTS COUNTY won 1-0 at home to Harrogate and are on a total of 25 goals. AFC WIMBLEDON lost 3-2 away to Port vale and are on a total of 22 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

SCOTTISH CUP 2nd Round, We had 3 of our teams in cup action and only 1 of them have made through to the next round. They are PETERHEAD who won 6-3 against non-league Lochee United. After they had failed to score in their last 2 league games, Peterhead have picked up their biggest result of the season and have taken their goals tally to 23. EAST FIFE are out after they lost 1-0 at home to non-league Banks O’Dee. That is Fife’s third blank of the season and now 2 games in a row without a goal. CLYDE drew 1-1 away to Elgin City but then lost 8-7 on penalties. Clyde are on a total of 18 goals.

In the Premiership joint leaders CELTIC won their eighth league game 3-0 away to Motherwell. Celtic are now on a total of 35 goals and keep their 100% scoring record after 11 league/cup games. RANGERS won 2-1 at home to St Mirren and are on a total of 19 goals. HEARTS drew 1-1 away to Hibernian and are on a total of 11 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. DUNDEE lost 2-1 at home to St Johnstone and are on a total of 38 goals. It’s 20 goals for ROSS COUNTY after they won 2-1 at home to KILMARNOCK. Kilmarnock are on 11 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games.

In the Championship top of the table FALKIRK won their eighth league game 2-1 at home against Dunfermline and are on a total of 34 goals.

In League One, COVE RANGERS are now top of the table after they won 2-0 away to Montrose and are on a total of 21. They have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games. STENHOUSEMUIR move into second place after they won 2-1 at home to Kelty Hearts and are on a total of 20 goals.

Our highest goal-scoring teams in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 7-0 at home to BARNSLEY in the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round in Week Seven. DUNDEE won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages.

GUY DOWSETT (2) is at the top for his fifth weekend, but he only picked up 5 goals this weekend. His teams are Arsenal, Celtic and East Fife. Lyanna Grimwood has moved in to second place this weekend cutting down the gap between herself and Guy by 3 goals. Lyanna’s teams picked up a total of 11 goals this week from Arsenal, Celtic, and Chesterfield. 

At the other end at 114 we still have MANDY WRIGHT with her sixth weekend. Mandy’s teams picked up 8 goals this week. Her teams are Bournemouth, West Ham and AFC Wimbledon.

We have had a better weekend for goal then, and it has certainly shown that in our top ten this week

In the Premier League LEICESTER CITY lost 3-1 at home to Nottingham Forest and picked up goal number 17. 

In the Championship PORTSMOUITH lost again this week as they lost their second game 2-1 at home to Sheffield Wednesday. Portsmouth are on a total of 12 goals and have now only won one of their 12 league games.

Championship, One & Two Results

In the Championship PORTSMOUTH picked up their 5th blank of the season after they lost 2-0 away to Cardiff City. Portsmouth are bottom of the table with just 1 league win out of 11 games played. LEEDS UNITED won 2-1 at home to Watford and are on a total of 19 goals and have extended their goal run to 7 league/cup games. OXFORD UNITED drew 1-1 at home to Derby and picked up goal number 17. PRESTON NE drew 2-2 at home against NORWICH CITY and are on a total of 18 goals. Norwich are on 23 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. SWANSEA CITY drew 0-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday and picked up their 7th blank of the season and now they have failed to score in their last 4 games. 

In League One top of the table BIRMINGHAM CITY won their 9th league game 2-0 at home to BOLTON. City are on a total of 23 goals while Bolton picked up their 5th blank of the season after a goal run of 6 league/cup games. Leeds Second in Championship

In the Championship, LEEDS UNITED are now second in the table after they won 2-0 at home against SHEFFIELD UNITED. Leeds are on a total of 17 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Sheffield picked up their third blank of the season. 

In League Two CHESTERFIELD won 3-0 away to Newport County and are now on a total of 23 goals and have extended their goal run to 6 league/cup games.

Week Ten

In Week Ten of the competition and we are half-way through the first-half already. There is no prize money this weekend due to the International games this week. But next weekend we will have our second Rollover of the season worth £10.

We had a very limited league fixture this weekend due to the Internationals being played, We had just 7 of our teams in action over the weekend, but only 1 of them failed to score any goals. So most of us picked up another zero score sheet. The highest score over the weekend was 4 goals and they came from the League Two where AFC WIMBLEDON won 4-0 at home to Carlisle United and have taken their goals tally up to 17.

AFC Wimbledon became our 106th voted English team back in the 2011/12 Season and they finished on a total of 63 goals. Their biggest end of season total was last season with 78 goals. This is their 5th season with Golden Goals and over the years they have netted a total of 271 goals. This gives them an average score of 54 goals per season to date. This season they have picked up a total of 4 blank score sheets and they have just 1 vote this time.

LEAGUE ONE

Birmingham City are still top of the table even though they had no game this week. We had just one team in action and they were PETERBOROUGH who drew 3-3 at home to Rotherham United. Borough are now on a total of 19 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

It’s 20 goals for CHESTERFIELD after they drew 2-2 at home to NOTTS COUNTY and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. County are on a total of 22 goals. MK DONS picked up their fifth blank of the season after they lost 1-0 at home to Port Vale. After they had failed to score in their last 3 games, DONCASTER ROVERS drew 1-1 at home against Crewe and are on a total of 18 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Championship FALKIRK drew their second league game 1-1 away to Partick to go top of the table. Falkirk are on a total of 29 goals.

Our highest goal-scoring teams in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 7-0 at home to BARNSLEY in the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round in Week Seven. DUNDEE won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages. 

GUY DOWSETT (2) is at the top for his third weekend but his teams did not have any games this weekend. His teams are Arsenal, Celtic and East Fife. He is still 11 goals clear of Alex Davey who also had none of his teams playing. Alex teams are Arsenal, Celtic, and Chelsea.  

At the other end at 114 we still have MANDY WRIGHT with her fourth weekend. Mandy’s teams picked up 4 goals this week. Her teams are Bournemouth, West Ham and AFC Wimbledon.

Not must to report on this week but hope that the table will change next weekend with a full fixture.

Falkirk Still Doing Well

In the Scottish Championship, top of the table FALKIRK drew their first league game and picked up their third blank of the season, after they drew 0-0 at home to Livingston.

Week Nine

In Week Nine of the competition, we had another £5 to give away and it had to be shared by 2 players. This now brings our winners total to 10 as one of our winners have already won some cash. Our winners are ALBIE/BOBBY and GUY DOWSETT (2) winning on a score of 14 goals each.

Albie/Bobby are new to Golden Goals this season and this is their personal best weekend score. They have picked up 2 blank weekend score sheets and this is the highest that they have been this season. Arsenal is their best team.

Guy has picked up his second win of the season with his second combination. This is also his personal best weekend score. Guy last won in Week Four with the full amount. His best team is East Fife and he has only picked up 1 blank weekend score sheet. Our Winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

There was another change in the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot once again this week, as we had more of our teams in action. It was MARK WALKER that picked up the most amount of midweek goals with 9. They came from Birmingham, Leeds United and MK Dons. Still in the lead this week we have DAVID BARRETT now on a total of 27 goals. His teams are Burnley, Dundee and Manchester City. In second place we still have BARBARA BARNES (2) still with a total of 25 goals. In third place up from five we have PHIL COLLINS with a total of 20 goals. In fourth place still with 19 goals we have GUY DOWSETT (2) down from three. In fifth place we now have ALFIE DIMMOCK, GUY DOWSETT (1) and ABBEY NEWMAN all on a total of 18 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had another full league fixture again this weekend, and we had just one of our teams without a game over the weekend with another 17 of our teams that failed to score any goals. We did not have a very good weekend for goals as the average score fell from 7 of last weekend to just 5 this weekend. Well done if you did better than five. The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals and they came from the Scottish League Two where EAST FIFE won 5-0 at home against Bonnyrigg Rose. Fife have taken their goals tally up to 32 goals and have scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games.

East Fife became our 28th voted Scottish team when they joined Golden Goals in the 2003/04 Season. They finished on a total of 44 goals. Their best end of season goals total was last season on where they finished on a total of 49 goals. This is their fourth season with us and over the years they have netted a total of 167 goals to date. This gives them an average score of 41 goals per season. So this season will be their very best. They have just 1 vote this season.

PREMIER LEAGUE

LIVERPOOL have remained at the top after they won 1-0 away to CRYSTAL PALACE. Winning their sixth league game, Liverpool are on a total of 18 goals. Palace picked up their third blank of the season. Second place MANCHESTER CITY won 3-2 at home to Fulham. City have now scored in all of their 8 league/cup games and are on a total of 19 goals.  ARSENAL won 3-1 at home against SOUTHAMPTON. Arsenal have also scored in all of their 8 league/cup games and are now on a total of 20 goals. Still no win for Southampton but they pick up goal number 10. LEICESTER CITY won their first league game 1-0 at home to AFC BOURNEMOUTH. Leicester are on a total of 13 goals while Bournemouth picked up their fourth blank of the season. WEST HAM picked up their second win of the season and their biggest result as they win 4-1 at home to IPSWICH TOWN.  West Ham have taken their goals tally to 12 while Ipswich still yet to win a game this season, picked up goal number 8. NEWCASTLE drew 0-0 away to Everton and after a goal run of 8 league/cup games, Newcastle picked up their first blank of the season. After a goal run of 5 league/cup games, ASTON VILLA drew 0-0 at home against MANCHESTER UNITED. As Villa picked up their second blank of the season, United picked up their fourth and now 3 games without a goal. CHELSEA drew 1-1 at home to Nottingham Forest and are on a total of 21 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. TOTTENHAM went 2-0 up at half time against Brighton away but lost the match 3-2. Tottenham are on a total of 16 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP

SHEFFIELD UNITED are joint top on goal difference after they won 2-0 at home against LUTON TOWN. United are on a total of 16 goals while Luton picked up their third blank score sheet after a goal run of 6 league/cup games. BURNLEY drew 0-0 at home to PRESTON NE and both teams have picked up their fourth blank of the season. NORWICH CITY won won 4-0 at home against Hull City and have taken their goals tally up to 20 goals. PORTSMOUTH drew 1-1 at home to OXFORD UNITED and hit goal number 9 while Oxford are on 15 goals. SWANSEA CITY drew 0-0 at home to Stoke and that is their fifth blank score sheet and now 2 games in a row.  MIDDLESBROUGH lost 2-1 away to Watford and picked up goal number 13. MILLWALL drew 0-0 away to WBA and that is their fifth blank score sheet and now 2 games without a goal.

LEAGUE ONE

BIRMINGHAM CITY are still top of the table after they lost their first league game, 1-0 away to CHARLTON. Birmingham picked up their second blank score sheets after a goal run of 5 league/cup games, while Charlton are on a total of 10 goals. HUDDERSFIELD won 2-0 at home to BARNSLEY and are on a total of 19 goals. Barnsley picked up their third blank of the season. PETERBOROUGH won 2-1 at home to Stevenage and are on a total of 16 goals. BOLTON drew 2-2 at home to Shrewsbury and are on a total of 19 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. BLACKPOOL picked up their third blank score sheet after they lost 2-0 away to Mansfield. After they had failed to score in their last 2 games, WREXHAM picked up their biggest result of the season by winning 4-1 at home to Northampton. Wrexham have taken their goals tally to 20 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

BROMLEY drew again 0-0 away to Fleetwood Town and picked up their second blank of the season. DONCASTER ROVERS won 3-0 away to Grimsby Town and are now on a total of 17 goals. CHESTERFIELD drew 2-2 at home to Walsall and are on a total of 18 goals. MK DONS drew 1-1 at home to Tranmere Rovers and are on a total of 13 goals. NOTTS COUNTY lost 1-0 at home to Port Vale and picked up their third blank score sheet. AFC WIMBLEDON lost 1-0 away to Salford City and picked up their fourth blank score sheet and now 3 in a row.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership, top of the table CELTIC won their seventh consecutive league game 2-1 away to ROSS COUNTY.  Celtic are on a total of 30 goals and extend their 100% scoring record to 9 league/cup games. County picked up goal number 18. RANGERS won 2-0 at home to St Johnstone and are on a total of 17 goals. DUNDEE lost 3-2 at home to KILMARNOCK. Dundee are on a total of 36 goals while Kilmarnock have taken their goals tally to 9 goals. HEARTS lost 3-2 away to Aberdeen and are on a total of 6 goals.

In the Championship FALKIRK won their sixth league game 2-0 at home to Ayr Utd. Falkirk are on a total of 28 goals and are still in second place in the league.

In League One COVE RANGERS won 2-0 away to Alloa and are on a total of 17 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. After they had failed to score in their last three games, STENHOUSEMUIR won 3-1 away to Dumbarton and have taken their goals tally to 18 goals.

In League Two, East Fife are still top of the table after their big win. PETERHEAD lost 1-0 away to Elgin City and picked up their fifth blank of the season. CLYDE drew 1-1 at home to The Spartans and picked up goal number 16.
