Week Nine

In Week Nine of the competition, we had another £5 to give away and it had to be shared by 2 players. This now brings our winners total to 10 as one of our winners have already won some cash. Our winners are ALBIE/BOBBY and GUY DOWSETT (2) winning on a score of 14 goals each.

Albie/Bobby are new to Golden Goals this season and this is their personal best weekend score. They have picked up 2 blank weekend score sheets and this is the highest that they have been this season. Arsenal is their best team.

Guy has picked up his second win of the season with his second combination. This is also his personal best weekend score. Guy last won in Week Four with the full amount. His best team is East Fife and he has only picked up 1 blank weekend score sheet. Our Winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

There was another change in the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot once again this week, as we had more of our teams in action. It was MARK WALKER that picked up the most amount of midweek goals with 9. They came from Birmingham, Leeds United and MK Dons. Still in the lead this week we have DAVID BARRETT now on a total of 27 goals. His teams are Burnley, Dundee and Manchester City. In second place we still have BARBARA BARNES (2) still with a total of 25 goals. In third place up from five we have PHIL COLLINS with a total of 20 goals. In fourth place still with 19 goals we have GUY DOWSETT (2) down from three. In fifth place we now have ALFIE DIMMOCK, GUY DOWSETT (1) and ABBEY NEWMAN all on a total of 18 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had another full league fixture again this weekend, and we had just one of our teams without a game over the weekend with another 17 of our teams that failed to score any goals. We did not have a very good weekend for goals as the average score fell from 7 of last weekend to just 5 this weekend. Well done if you did better than five. The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals and they came from the Scottish League Two where EAST FIFE won 5-0 at home against Bonnyrigg Rose. Fife have taken their goals tally up to 32 goals and have scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games.

East Fife became our 28th voted Scottish team when they joined Golden Goals in the 2003/04 Season. They finished on a total of 44 goals. Their best end of season goals total was last season on where they finished on a total of 49 goals. This is their fourth season with us and over the years they have netted a total of 167 goals to date. This gives them an average score of 41 goals per season. So this season will be their very best. They have just 1 vote this season.

PREMIER LEAGUE

LIVERPOOL have remained at the top after they won 1-0 away to CRYSTAL PALACE. Winning their sixth league game, Liverpool are on a total of 18 goals. Palace picked up their third blank of the season. Second place MANCHESTER CITY won 3-2 at home to Fulham. City have now scored in all of their 8 league/cup games and are on a total of 19 goals.  ARSENAL won 3-1 at home against SOUTHAMPTON. Arsenal have also scored in all of their 8 league/cup games and are now on a total of 20 goals. Still no win for Southampton but they pick up goal number 10. LEICESTER CITY won their first league game 1-0 at home to AFC BOURNEMOUTH. Leicester are on a total of 13 goals while Bournemouth picked up their fourth blank of the season. WEST HAM picked up their second win of the season and their biggest result as they win 4-1 at home to IPSWICH TOWN.  West Ham have taken their goals tally to 12 while Ipswich still yet to win a game this season, picked up goal number 8. NEWCASTLE drew 0-0 away to Everton and after a goal run of 8 league/cup games, Newcastle picked up their first blank of the season. After a goal run of 5 league/cup games, ASTON VILLA drew 0-0 at home against MANCHESTER UNITED. As Villa picked up their second blank of the season, United picked up their fourth and now 3 games without a goal. CHELSEA drew 1-1 at home to Nottingham Forest and are on a total of 21 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. TOTTENHAM went 2-0 up at half time against Brighton away but lost the match 3-2. Tottenham are on a total of 16 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP

SHEFFIELD UNITED are joint top on goal difference after they won 2-0 at home against LUTON TOWN. United are on a total of 16 goals while Luton picked up their third blank score sheet after a goal run of 6 league/cup games. BURNLEY drew 0-0 at home to PRESTON NE and both teams have picked up their fourth blank of the season. NORWICH CITY won won 4-0 at home against Hull City and have taken their goals tally up to 20 goals. PORTSMOUTH drew 1-1 at home to OXFORD UNITED and hit goal number 9 while Oxford are on 15 goals. SWANSEA CITY drew 0-0 at home to Stoke and that is their fifth blank score sheet and now 2 games in a row.  MIDDLESBROUGH lost 2-1 away to Watford and picked up goal number 13. MILLWALL drew 0-0 away to WBA and that is their fifth blank score sheet and now 2 games without a goal.

LEAGUE ONE

BIRMINGHAM CITY are still top of the table after they lost their first league game, 1-0 away to CHARLTON. Birmingham picked up their second blank score sheets after a goal run of 5 league/cup games, while Charlton are on a total of 10 goals. HUDDERSFIELD won 2-0 at home to BARNSLEY and are on a total of 19 goals. Barnsley picked up their third blank of the season. PETERBOROUGH won 2-1 at home to Stevenage and are on a total of 16 goals. BOLTON drew 2-2 at home to Shrewsbury and are on a total of 19 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. BLACKPOOL picked up their third blank score sheet after they lost 2-0 away to Mansfield. After they had failed to score in their last 2 games, WREXHAM picked up their biggest result of the season by winning 4-1 at home to Northampton. Wrexham have taken their goals tally to 20 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

BROMLEY drew again 0-0 away to Fleetwood Town and picked up their second blank of the season. DONCASTER ROVERS won 3-0 away to Grimsby Town and are now on a total of 17 goals. CHESTERFIELD drew 2-2 at home to Walsall and are on a total of 18 goals. MK DONS drew 1-1 at home to Tranmere Rovers and are on a total of 13 goals. NOTTS COUNTY lost 1-0 at home to Port Vale and picked up their third blank score sheet. AFC WIMBLEDON lost 1-0 away to Salford City and picked up their fourth blank score sheet and now 3 in a row.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership, top of the table CELTIC won their seventh consecutive league game 2-1 away to ROSS COUNTY.  Celtic are on a total of 30 goals and extend their 100% scoring record to 9 league/cup games. County picked up goal number 18. RANGERS won 2-0 at home to St Johnstone and are on a total of 17 goals. DUNDEE lost 3-2 at home to KILMARNOCK. Dundee are on a total of 36 goals while Kilmarnock have taken their goals tally to 9 goals. HEARTS lost 3-2 away to Aberdeen and are on a total of 6 goals.

In the Championship FALKIRK won their sixth league game 2-0 at home to Ayr Utd. Falkirk are on a total of 28 goals and are still in second place in the league.

In League One COVE RANGERS won 2-0 away to Alloa and are on a total of 17 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. After they had failed to score in their last three games, STENHOUSEMUIR won 3-1 away to Dumbarton and have taken their goals tally to 18 goals.

In League Two, East Fife are still top of the table after their big win. PETERHEAD lost 1-0 away to Elgin City and picked up their fifth blank of the season. CLYDE drew 1-1 at home to The Spartans and picked up goal number 16.

Our best performing team is EAST FIFE after they have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. They have a total of 32 goals which gives them an average score of 2.4 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is STENHOUSEMUIR this weekend after they picked up 7th blank score sheet from 13 league/cup games. They have a total of 18 goals.

Our highest goal-scoring teams in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 7-0 at home to BARNSLEY in the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round in Week Seven. DUNDEE won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages.

GUY DOWSETT (2) is at the top for his second weekend as his teams picked him up a total of 10 goals this weekend. His teams are Arsenal, Celtic and East Fife. He is now 11 goals clear of Alex Davey who has moved up to second place. Alex teams are Arsenal, Celtic, and Chelsea.

At the other end at 114 we still have MANDY WRIGHT with her third weekend. Mandy’s teams picked up 7 goals this week. Her teams are Bournemouth, West Ham and AFC Wimbledon.
