Another Win For Sheffield Utd

In the Premier League, bottom of the table SOUTHAMPTON drew 1-1 away to Brighton and picked up goal number 19. 

In the Championship, SHEFFIELD UNITED are back on top after they won 1-0 at home to Sunderland. United have won 5 of their last 6 league games and are on a total of 29 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games.

Leeds Back on Top

In the Championship, LEEDS UNITED go back on top on goal difference after they won 3-0 at home to LUTON TOWN. Leeds are now on a total of 31 goals while Luton picked up their fourth blank score sheet after a goal run of 7 league/cup games. MIDDLESBROUGH had been doing well of late, but the bubble has burst as they lost 1-0 at home to Blackburn Rovers. That is Middlesbrough’s sixth blank of the season. SWANSEA CITY won 2-1 away to Derby County and are on a total of 18 goals.

Big Six Norwich

In the Championship, SHEFFIELD UNITED go to the top of the table after they won 3-0 at home against OXFORD UNITED. Sheffield are now on a total of 28 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. Oxford picked up their fifth blank of the season. BURNLEY are now in second place after they won 2-0 at home to Coventry City. Burnley are on a total of 21 goals. NORWICH picked up the biggest win of the night and their best result to date, after they won 6-1 at home to Plymouth. Norwich have taken their goals tally to 35 goals. PRESTON NE picked up their seventh blank of the season after they drew 0-0 away to Stoke City. 

In League One WREXHAM are still in second place after they won 1-0 at home against Lincoln City. Wrexham are on a total of 28 goals. BARNSLEY drew 2-2 at home to Reading and are on a total of 31 goals. BLACKPOOL won 2-0 away to Bristol Rovers and are on a total of 32 goals. CHARLTON won 1-0 away to Burton and picked up gaol number 21. It’s 30 goals for BOLTON as they drew 1-1 away to Cambridge Utd. It’s also 30 goals for BIRMINGHAM CITY after they won 2-0 away to Exeter City. Birmingham have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN won 2-0 away to Leyton Orient and are on a total of 29 goals. 

In League Two AFC WIMBLEDON won 2-0 away to Tranmere Rovers and are on a total of 31 goals. BROMLEY drew 2-2 away to Walsall and are on a total of 24 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games.

Happy West Ham

In the Premier League, WEST HAM won their fourth league game after they beat NEWCASTLE 2-0 away. A big win for West Ham with a goal in each half. West Ham, who had failed to score in their last 2 games, are now on a total of 17 goals. Newcastle in 10th place, pick up their third blank of the season.

Week Sixteen

In Week Sixteen of the competition we had just one player to pick up our third Rollover of the season of £10. They are ANDY EYLES who becomes our sixteenth winner of the season winning on a score of 13 goals, which is his personal best weekend score.

Andy started with Golden Goals back in the 2004/05 Season on where he finished in the winning frame in 25th place on a total of 275 goals. Last season he also finished in the winning frame in 19th place with a total of 309 goals. This season, Andy is in his highest position to date. We had just 2 of our teams in action during midweek, so the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot has remained the same as last weeks. In the lead we have BARBARA BARNES (2) who has extended her lead by 7 goals with that goal from Falkirk. Barbara has a total of 36 goals. Her teams are Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United. In second place we still have DAVID BARRETT and ALFIE DIMMOCK both with a total of 29 goals. In third place we have STUART KEMP (1), BRUCE SELF and RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 joint Champion. WEEKEND RESULTS

We had a few of our games cancelled over the weekend due to the storm “Bert” hitting our shores. We then had 11 of our teams without a game over the weekend, and another 6 of them failed to score any goals. Despite that, we had a really good weekend with the average score coming in at 6 goals. So if you have done better than that? Well done.

The highest score over the weekend was 6 goals, and they came from the Championship where MIDDLESBROUGH won 6-2 away to OXFORD UNITED. With their biggest result of the season, Brough have taken their goals total to 32 and have now score a total of 15 goals in their last 3 games. Oxford are on a total of 21 goals.

Middlesbrough started with Golden Goals back in the 1986/87 Season where they became our 58th voted English team. They finished with a total of 78 goals. Their highest score of 92 goals came in the 1996/97 and then again in the following season of 1997/98. Last season they finished on a total of 87 goals. This is their 22nd season with us and over that time they have netted a total of 1503 goals, which gives them an average score of 68 goals per season to date. LIVERPOOL are top of the table but they had a tough game against bottom of the table SOUTHAMPTON, winning 3-2 away. Liverpool are now 8 points in front and have taken their goals total to 32 goals and have extended their goal run to 10 league/cup games. Southampton are on a total of 18 goals. In second place MANCHESTER CITY lost their third consecutive league game, 4-0 at home to TOTTENHAM. After a goal run of 13 league/cup games, City picked up their first blank of the season. Tottenham have taken their goals tally up to 31 goals. LEICESTER CITY lost 2-1 at home to CHELSEA and are on a total of 21 goals. Chelsea are on 28 goals. AFC BOURNEMOUTH lost 2-1 at home to Brighton and picked up goal number 16 and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. CHAMPIONSHIP

LEEDS UNITED are top of the table as they win 4-3 away to SWANSEA CITY. Leeds are now on a total of 28 goals while Swansea are now on 16 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED drew 2-2 away to Coventry City. BARNSLEY after a goal run of 6 league/cup games, picked up their fourth blank score sheet as they lost 1-0 at home to Wigan. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN won 2-1 at home against CHARLTON. Huddersfield are on a total of 28 goals while Charlton hit goal number 20. PETERBOROUGH lost 2-1 at home to Reading and are on a total of 36 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

Our highest team here is DONCASTER ROVERS in third place. They drew again 0-0 away to Carlisle Utd and that is their fifth blank of the season. NOTTS COUNTY drew 0-0 at home against Newport County and that is their second consecutive blank score sheet and now five over the season. AFC WIMBLEDON picked up their seventh blank of the season after they lost 1-0 at home to Walsall. CHESTERFIELD won 1-0 at home to Barrow and are on a total of 34 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership, top of the table CELTIC won their 11th league game 4-1 away to HEARTS. Celtic have now scored in all of their 15 league/cup games. They have taken their goals total to 49 and on course to reach yet another 100 goals. Hearts picked up goal number 15. RANGERS drew 1-1 at home to Dundee Utd and are on a total of 24 goals. After they had failed to score in their last 3 games, ROSS COUNTY won 2-1 at home to Motherwell and are on a total of 22 goals. DUNDEE won 4-1 at home against 10 man Hibernian and have taken their goals tally to 46. KILMARNOCK lost 1-0 away to St Johnstone and that is their second consecutive blank score sheet and now 6 over the season.

Our worst performing team is STENHOUSEMUIR this weekend as they have had a total of 9th blank score sheet from 18 league/cup games. They have a total of 22 goals.

Our highest goal-scoring teams in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 7-0 at home to BARNSLEY in the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round in Week Seven. DUNDEE won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages.

We have a new leader this week on goal difference, and they are JED WEARDEN who become our fourth player to do so. Jed’s teams picked him up a total of 8 goals at the weekend from Celtic, Liverpool and Peterborough. Barbara Barnes (2) moves down to second place as her teams picked up a total of 6 goals from the week. Barbara’s teams are Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United.

At the other end at 114 we have CHARLIE FARLEY with his second weekend there. Charlie’s teams picked up just 2 goals this weekend. His teams are Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir.

Despite the bad weather over the weekend, we had a really good week. Just a slight change in our top ten this week.

Wimbledon in 8th Place

In League Two AFC WIMBLEDON came back after going 2-0 down, to draw 2-2 at home to Accrington Stanley.  It’s their second league game that Wimbledon have drawn this season. They are on a total of 29 goals.

Week Fifteen

In Week Fifteen of the competition there was no prize money this weekend.  So next weekend we will be having our third Rollover of the season worth £10.

WEEKEND RESULTS

Due to the International games over the weekend, we had just 15 of our teams in action. Out of them 4 failed to score any goals. So it is no surprise then, that the average score for this weekend fell down to a flat zero.

The highest score over the weekend was 3 goals and we had 3 of our teams that picked them up. They were  MK DONS, AFC WIMBLEDON and from the Scottish leagues CLYDE.  Here are the weekend results.

BLACKPOOL drew 0-0 at home to Northampton Town and picked up their fifth blank score sheet and now 2 in a row. BARNSLEY drew 1-1 away to Cambridge Utd and are on a total of 29 goals and have extended their goal run to 6 league/cup games. WREXHAM lost 1-0 away to Stockport County and picked up their sixth blank of the season.

LEAGUE TWO

AFC WIMBLEDON won 3-1 away to Barrow and are now on a total of 27 goals. BROMLEY drew 1-1 at home to Carlisle Utd and picked up goal number 22. NOTTS COUNTY after a goal run of 6 league/cup games, lost 2-0 away to Crewe and picked up their fourth blank of the season. DONCASTER ROVERS drew 1-1 at home to Salford City and are on a total of 25 goals. CHESTERFIELD lost again, 2-1 away to Harrogate Town and are on a total of 33 goals. MK DONS picked up another 3 goals as they win 3-2 at home to Cheltenham Town and are on a total of 27.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Championship FALKIRK are still top and now just 3 points clear after they lost their second league game 1-0 away to Livingston. Falkirk after they had scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games, picked up their fourth blank of the season. 

In League One, COVE RANGERS lost again 2-1 away to Arbroath and are on a total of 26 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 15 league/cup games. STENHOUSEMUIR won 1-0 at home to St Mirren and are on a total of 22 goals.

In League Two PETERHEAD have moved down to second place after they lost 3-2 at home to Edinburgh City. Peterhead are now on a total of 30 goals. EAST FIFE lost 3-1 away to CLYDE and are on a total of 35 goals while Clyde are now on a total of 23 goals.

Our worst performing team is SWANSEA CITY this weekend after they picked up their 9th blank score sheet from 17 league/cup games. They have a total of 13 goals.

Our highest goal-scoring teams in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 7-0 at home to BARNSLEY in the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round in Week Seven. DUNDEE won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages.

Week Fourteen

In Week Fourteen of the competition we had 2 winners once again to share the £5 Weekend Prize Money. Our winners are GEOFF CARTHY and IAN SMITH, which now means that we have had a total of 15 winners this season as both are first time winners. Our winners won on a score of 11 goals.

Geoff started with Golden Goals back in the 1986/87 season on where he finished on a total of 201 goals in 36th place. Last season Geoff finished in the winning frame in 12th place on a total of 316 goals. This season, Geoff has picked up just 1 blank weekend score sheet and this his his personal best score for the second weekend running. This is the highest that Geoff has been so far. His best team is Celtic.

Ian started with us back in the 2014/15 season and he finished in 77th place with 242 goals. Last season Ian finished in 72nd place with 283 goals. This season he has picked up his personal best score and no blank weekend score sheets to date. This is the highest that Ian has been all season. His best team is also Celtic. Our winners teams are

Well done if you have received more than that from your teams. The highest score over the weekend was 6 goals and they came from League One where PETERBOROUGH picked up their biggest result of the season by winning 6-1 at home against Cambridge Utd and have taken their goals tally up to 35 goals.

Peterborough became our 90th voted English team back in the 1997/98 where they finished the season on a total of 73 goals. Their highest score came in the 2010/11 with 129 goals which is our third highest end of season score. Borough hit another 100 goals last season with 102. This is their 19th season with Golden Goals and over the years they have netted a total of 1502 goals to date. MIDDLESBROUGH picked up their biggest result of the season as they win 5-1 at home against LUTON TOWN. Middlesbrough have taken their goals tally up to 26 goals. Luton hit goal number 18. MILLWALL drew 1-1 away to Stoke and are on a total of 19 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. NORWICH CITY picked up their fifth blank score sheet after they lost 2-0 at home to Bristol City. PORTSMOUTH won their second league game 3-1 at home to PRESTON NE. Our highest goal-scoring teams in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 7-0 at home to BARNSLEY in the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round in Week Seven. DUNDEE won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages.

Our leader is still BARBARA BARNES (2) at the top for her second weekend and her third over the season. Barbara picked up a total of 7 goals this weekend. Her teams are Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United. Jed Wearden has moved up to second place this weekend and is only 2 goals behind Barbara. Jed’s teams picked up a total of 10 goals this weekend from Celtic, Liverpool and Peterborough. 

At the other end at 114 we still have MANDY WRIGHT with her eighth weekend. Mandy’s teams picked up just 2 goals this weekend. Her teams are Bournemouth, West Ham and AFC Wimbledon.

Championship and League One

In the Championship OXFORD UNITED lost their second game of the week, 1-0 away to Watford. That is their 4th blank of the season. 

In League One BARNSLEY won 2-0 at home to Rotherham United and are on a total of 28 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 5 games and have moved up to fourth place.

In the Championship, BURNLEY had failed to score in their previous 2 games, and now they have added another game as they drew 0-0 away to WBA. Laying in fourth place just behind Leeds, Burnley have now had a total of 7 blank score sheets.

Not a Good Night in the Championship

Here are more Championship results. MILLWALL won 1-0 at home to LEEDS UNITED and are on a total of 18 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Leeds picked up their 5th blank of the season and are now down to third place. LUTON TOWN won 1-0 at home to Cardiff City and are on a total of 17 goals and they have also now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. PRESTON NE drew 0-0 at home to top of the table Sunderland. That is Preston’s 6th blank of the season.

Championship Results

In the Championship, SHEFFIELD UNITED won 2-1 away to Bristol City and are on a total of 22 goals. OXFORD UNITED won 1-0 at home to Hull City and are on a total of 19 goals. NORWICH CITY lost 2-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday and have now had a total of 4 blank score sheets after a goal run of 8 league/cup games. MIDDLESBROUGH picked up their highest result of the season as they won 4-1 away to QPR. Middlesbrough have taken their goals tally to 21 goals. PORTSMOUTH picked up their 6th blank of the season after they lost 1-0 away to Plymouth. SWANSEA CITY won 1-0 at home to Watford and hit goal number 14.

Week Thirteen

In Week Thirteen of the competition we had 2 winner to share the £5 weekend prize money this weekend. Our winner are BARBARA BARNES (2) with her 2nd win of the season and ANN WELLARD, who becomes our 13th winner of the season and now the fifth lady to win. Our winners won on a score of 13 goals.

Barbara won in Week Six with her second combination on a score of 7 goals. This week’s win is her personal best weekend score and she has still only had 1 blank weekend score sheet. Celtic is now her best team. Ann started with Golden Goals back in the 2003/04 Season and finished her first season in 83rd place with a total of 228 goals. Ann did have a shared weekend win that season. Last season Ann finished in 31st place with a total of 304 goals. This season, she has reached as high as 15th place in Week One. Ann has picked up just 1 blank weekend score sheet and this is her personal best weekend score. Celtic is her best team. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

The race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot has certainly picked up pace this week. What a week we have had.

BARBARA BARNES (2) has shot out in front with a 6 goal lead as she is now on a total of 35 goals. Her teams are Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United. In second place down from one we now have DAVID BARRETT with ALFIE DIMMOCK up from three. Both with a total of 29 goals. In third place we now have RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 joint Champion up from fourth place with BRUCE SELF joining the race. Both are on a total of 27 goals. In fourth place both with a total of 26 goals we have CHRIS SETFORD and SCOTT THOMSON (1). In fifth place we have STUART KEMPT (2) and MARTIN CORBETT both with a total of 25 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had just 3 of our teams without a game over the weekend and another 8 of them failed to score any goals. We had a fairly good weekend for results. The average score for this weekend stayed at 5 goals for the second weekend running. Well done if you have received more than that from your teams. The highest score over the weekend was 6 goals and they came from the Scottish League Cup Semi-Finals where CELTIC won 6-0 against Aberdeen.

FA CUP 1st Round

In the very first round of the FA Cup, we already know that Huddersfield are out and Notts County are through to the second round, but what about the other teams of ours. Well the good news is that most of them are through. They are DONCASTER ROVERS won 1-0 away to Barrow and are on a total of 23 goals. CHESTERFIELD won 3-1 at home to non-league Horsham and are now on a total of 32 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. BLACKPOOL won 2-0 away to Gillingham and are on a total of 29 goals. PETERBOROUGH won 4-2 away to Newport County and have taken their goals tally up to 29 goals. BARNSLEY won 3-1 away to Port Vale and are now on a total of 26 goals. BROMLEY have picked up their biggest result of the season as they win 4-3 away to Rochdale and have taken their goals tally to 20. CHARLTON won 4-3 away to non-league Southend after extra time. With their biggest result of the season, Charlton are now on a total of 19 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. AFC WIMBLEDON won 2-0 away to MK DONS and are on a total of 24 goals, while the Dons picked up their sixth blank of the season. BIRMINGHAM CITY won 1-0 away to non-league Sutton Utd and are on a total of 25 goals.

Teams that went out are BOLTON after they lost 2-1 away to Walsall and hit goal number 27. WREXHAM lost 1-0 away to Harrogate Town. That is their fifth blank of the season.

PREMIER LEAGUE

We currently now have the top seven teams here with LIVERPOOL going back on top after they won 2-1 at home to Brighton. Liverpool are on a total of 27 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. MANCHESTER CITY are down to second place after they lost their first league game 2-1 away to AFC BOURNEMOUTH. As City picked up their 24th goal of the season and have extended their goal run to 12 league/cup games, Bournemouth are on a total of 13 goals. ARSENAL lost 1-0 away to NEWCASTLE and that is their second blank score sheet while Newcastle picked up goal number 14. IPSWICH TOWN drew 1-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY and are on a total of 12 goals. Leicester are on 20 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. WEST HAM lost 3-0 away to Nottingham Forest and that is their second blank of the season after a goal run of 5 games. SOUTHAMPTON have won their first league game, 1-0 at home to Everton. Southampton are on a total of 16 goals. CRYSTAL PALACE drew 2-2 away to Wolves and are on a total of 16 goals. TOTTENHAM won 4-1 at home to ASTON VILLA and have taken their goals tally to 26. Villa hit goal number 20. MANCHESTER UNITED drew 1-1 at home against CHELSEA and are on a total of 21 goals. Chelsea are on 25 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP

LEEDS UNITED are in second place this weekend after they won 3-0 at home to Plymouth. Leeds are now on a total of 22 goals. It’s 20 goals for SHEFFIELD UNITED after they won 2-0 away to Blackburn Rovers. After they had failed to score in their previous 5 league games, SWANSEA CITY won 2-1 away to OXFORD UNITED and are on a total of 13 goals. Oxford picked up goal number 18. NORWICH CITY lost 2-1 away to Cardiff City and are on a total of 27 goals and now have scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. MIDDLESBOROUGH picked up their fifth blank of the season as they lost 3-0 at home to Coventry City. PORTSMOUTH drew 1-1 away to Hull City and are on a total of 13 goals and are bottom of the league. PRESTON NE lost 3-1 at home to Bristol City and are on a total of 22 goals. MILLWALL won 1-0 at home to BURNLEY and they are on a total of 17 goals. Burnley picked up their sixth blank score sheet and now 2 in a row.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

SCOTTISH LEAGUE Cup Semi-Finals, We had 2 of our teams in cup action and both of them have made through to the final. CELTIC won 6-0 at home against Aberdeen and have taken their goals tally up to 43 goals and keep their 100% scoring record after 13 league/cup games. RANGERS won 2-1 away to Motherwell and are on a total of 22 goals. It’s another old firm final to be played next month.

In the Premiership leaders Celtic remain top on goal difference. HEARTS won their second league game 2-1 away to St Johnstone and are on a total of 14 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. ROSS COUNTY drew 0-0 away to St Mirren and picked up their seventh blank score sheet and now 2 in a row. DUNDEE won 3-2 at home against KILMARNOCK. Dundee are now on a total of 41 goals while Kilmarnock are on 15 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games.

In the Championship top of the table FALKIRK won their ninth league game and their biggest result of the season as they win 6-0 at home to Greenock Morton. Falkirk have taken their goals tally up to 40 goals.

In League One, top of the table COVE RANGERS won 3-0 away to Dumbarton and are now on a total of 24. They have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. STENHOUSEMUIR lost 1-0 away to Arbroath and picked up their ninth blank of the season.

In League Two EAST FIFE are top of the table on goal difference as they drew 1-1 at home to Stirling and after they had failed to score in their last 2 games, are now on a total of 33 goals. It’s 20 goals for CLYDE after they drew 2-2 at home to Bonnyrigg Rose. Clyde have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games.
