Another draw for Liverpool

In the Premier League top of the table LIVERPOOL drew their 7th league game 2-2 away to ASTON VILLA. Liverpool  are on a total of 80 goals while Villa are on 42. 

In the Championship bottom of the table LUTON TOWN, after they had failed to score in their previous 2 games, drew 1-1 at home to Plymouth and are now on a total of 32 goals.

All but one team scored

In the Championship PRESTON NE drew 1-1 at home to MILLWALL and are on a total of 45 goals. Millwall are on 39 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. 

In League One WREXHAM lost 2-1 at home to Leyton Orient and picked up goal number 48 and they have njow scored in all of their last 16 league/cup games. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN won 1-0 away to Shrewsbury Town and are on a total of 49 goals. 

In League Two AFC WIMBLEDON in 2nd place, drew 0-0 away to Fleetwood Town and picked up their 11th blank of the season. DONCASTER ROVERS in 3rd place won 1-0 away to Morecambe. NOTTS COUNTY in 4th place drew 1-1 at home to Colchester United and are on a total of 59 goals.

Lucky Leeds

In the Championship LEEDS UNITED have moved back to the top on goal difference, after they won 2-1 at home against Sunderland with 2 very late goals. Leeds are on a total of 69 goals.

Week Twenty-Eight

In Week Twenty-Eight of the competition, we had another £5 Weekend Jackpot but we had 3 winners which means that they won £1.66 each. This weekends winners are MICK LIDDLE, LUCIFER (John Wood) and our 2016/176 Champion JOHN WOOD. All won on a score of 9 goals, That now means that we have had a total of 30 winners this season.

Mick picks up his second win of the season as he won some cash back in Week Five. His highest position is still 39th in Week Six. Since Christmas he has started to pick upo the goals from his seletion. His best team is Liverpool.

John wins twice this weekend first as a Champion and then with Lucifer. John started with Golden Goals back in the 1997/98 season and finished in 87th place with a total of 209 goals, he picked up a shared weekend win. John became Champion in the 2016/17 winning on a score of 344 goals. That currently finds him in 3rd place in our Champions league. Last season John finished in 46th place with 297 goals. His other combination, Lucifer finished in 60th place with 291 goals. You might not know that John has 4 combinations in the comoetition for the last few season’s. John this season has been as high as 44th place in Week Nine. He has picked up just 3 blank weekend score sheets. Our winners teams are.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Most of us managed to pick up some more goals during midweek, so the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot has changed again from last week. We had another 7 players that have now reached the half-way mark which now brings our total to 72 players that have hit the 50 mark. The highest score this week went to MIKE HARRINGTON our 1997/98 Champion with a total of 10 goals. They came from Birmingham City, Charlton and Leeds United.

We have a new leader this week with RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion moving up from second place, now with a total of 70 goals. In second place we have JAMES BLYTH up from five on a total of 69 goals. In third place up from four we have MARTIN CORBETT now with a total of 68 goals. In fourth place we have BARRY BURROUGHS and ALFIE DIMMOCK down from third place, but joining  them, we have last weeks leader BARBARA BARNES (2) also we have . All now on a total of 67 goals. In fifth place we have PETER WELLARD down from two and joining the race CARLA STEPHENS, both on a total of 66 goals. In sixth place we have GRANT PHILLIPS down from five on a total of 65 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had just 4 of our teams without a game this weekend and we had another 10 teams that failed to score any goals. We had a couple of good results from our top teams this weekend. The average score went up from four goals of last weekend to 6 goals this weekend. So if you have done better than that? Well done. The highest score over the weekend was 4 goals, and they came the Premier League where MANCHESTER CITY won 4-0 at home to NEWCASTLE UNITED. City have taken their goals tally to 65 goals and have now scored in all of their last 14 league/cup games. Newcastle after a goal run of 17 league/cup games, picked up their 4th blank of the season. Here are the rest of the weekend results.

Top of the table LIVERPOOL are now 7 points clear after they won 2-1 at home to Wolves. Liverpool are on a total of 78 goals. ARSENAL are still in 2nd place after they won 2-0 away to LEICESTER CITY and are on a total of 63 goals. Leicester picked up their 9th blank of the season. ASTON VILLA drew 1-1 at home to IPSWICH TOWN and are on a total of 42 goals. Ipswich hit goal number 32. AFC BOURNEMOUTH won 3-1 away to bottom of the table SOUTHAMPTON and are now on a total of 48 goals. Southampton are on 32 goals. WEST HAM UNITED lost 1-0 away to Brentford and picked up their 6blank of the season. CRYSTAL PALACE lost 2-1 at home to Everton and are on a total of 42 goals and th have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. TOTTENHAM won 1-0 at home against MANCHESTER UNITED and are on a total of 62 goals. United picked up their 10th blank of the season.

CHAMPIONSHIP

SHEFFIELD UNITED are now top of the table after they won 1-0 away to LUTON TOWN. United are on a total of 51 goals while Luton, picked up their 12th blank of the season and now 2 in a row and they are bottom of the table. Leeds United drop down to second place with a game in hand.

In the Play-offs we still have just one of the 4 teams and they are BURNLEY in 3rd place. They drew 0-0 away to PRESTON NE. Burnley picked up their 14th blank of the season while Preston picked up their 10th.

Meanwhile PORTSMOUTH won 2-0 away to OXFORD UNITED and are on a total of 41 goals. Oxford picked up their 11th blank score sheet and now 3 games without a goal. NORWICH CITY drew 1-1 away to Hull City and are on a total of 55 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH picked up their 9th blank of the season after a goal run of 5 games, as they lost 1-0 at home to Watford. In the Play-offs we now have two of the 4 teams. In 3rd place we still have WREXHAM who won 2-0 away to Northampton Town. Wrexham are on 47 goals and have extended their goal run to 15 league/cup games. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN are still in 5th place after they won 2-1 away to BARNSLEY. Huddersfield are on a total of 48 goals while Barnsley also hit goal number 48.

The highest team that we have are AFC WIMBLEDON who have moved up to 2nd place after they won 1-0 at home to Salford City. Wimbledon are on a total of 50 goals.

In the Play-offs we have two of the 4 teams. They are Notts County are down to 4th place while DONCASTER ROVERS are down to 6th place after they lost 2-1 at home to Grimsby Town and are on a total of 51 goals.

Meanwhile  BROMLEY won 1-0 at home to Fleetwood Town and are on a total of 49 goals. MK DONS drew 1-1 away to Tranmere Rovers and are on a total of 44 goals. CHESTERFIELD lost 3-1 away to Walsall and are on a total of 53 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership Champions CELTIC won 3-0 at home to Dundee Utd and they become our first team to hit 100 goals this season. They have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. RANGERS in 2nd  place won 3-1 away to HEARTS. Rangers are now on a total of 69 goals while Hearts pick up goal number 40 and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. DUNDEE lost 2-1 at home to Aberdeen and picked up gaol number 67. KILMARNOCK won 3-1 at home to St Johnstone and are now on a total of 32 goals. ROSS COUNTY won 3-0 away to Motherwell and are now on a total of 39 goals.

In the Championship, top of the table FALKIRK drew 2-2 at home to second place Ayr Utd and are on a total of 66 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games.

In League One COVE RANGERS are now in 2nd place after they won 3-1 at home to Annan. Rangers are on a total of 47 goals.

In League Two EAST FIFE are still top after they drew 1-1 at home to Bonnyrige Rose and they are on a total of  59 goals PETERHEAD remained in second place after they drew 2-2 at home to CLYDE. Peterhead are on a total to 51 goals while Clyde are on 40 goals.

In the Premier League LIVERPOOL drew 2-2 away to Everton in this Merseyside derby and are on a total of 76 goals. 

In the Championship second place SHEFFIELD UNITED won 3-1 at home to MIDDLESBROUGH and are on a total of 50 goals. Middlesbrough are on 53 goals. BURNLEY won 2-0 at home to Hull City and are on a total of 43 goals. MILLWALL lost 5-1 away to Plymouth and are on a total of 37 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. In the Championship top of the table LEEDS UNITED won 4-0 away to Watford and have taken their goals tally to 67. OXFORD UNITED picked up their 10th blank of the season and now 2 in a row after they drew 0-0 away to Derby County. PORTSMOUTH won 2-1 at home to Cardiff City and are on a total of 39 goals. PRESTON NE won 1-0 away to NORWICH CITY and are on a total of 44 goals. Norwich picked up their 11th blank of the season. 

In League One top of the table BIRMINGHAM CITY won 4-0 at home to Cambridge United and have taken their goals tally up to 58. Birmingham have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. BLACKPOOL drew 0-0 at home to Rotherham United and picked up their 8th blank of the season after a goal run of 7 league/cup games. CHARLTON won 2-1 at home to PETERBOROUGH UNITED and are on a total of 49 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. Domestic Cup Action

In our last game of the FA CUP 4th Round, CRYSTAL PALACE won 2-0 away to DONCASTER ROVERS and are on a total of 41 goals. Rovers picked up their 8th blank of the season after a goal run of 9 league/cup games. 

In the SCOTTISH CUP 5th Round, HEARTS drew 1-1 against St Mirren away after the full 90 minutes. That score remained the same even after extra time . Hearts went on to win  4-2 on penalties. Hearts are on a total of 39 goals.

Week Twenty-Seven

In Week Twenty-Seven of the competition, we had another £5 Weekend Jackpot. This weekends winner was PETER WELLARD winning on a score of 12 goals, which is his personal best score. Peter becomes our 29th winner of the season. 

Peter started with Golden Goals back in the 2004/05 and finished in 57th place with a total of 261 goals. He picked up 2 shared weekend wins. Last season Peter finished in 55th place with 293 goals and again he picked up 2 shared weekend wins. This season he has been as high as 20th place in Week One. He has picked up 3 blank weekend score sheets and Celtic are his best team. Here are his winners teams.

In fourth place all with a total of 62 goals we now have MARTIN CORBETT up from five and coming back into the race we have GEOFF DOCKERILL our 1994/95 Champion, with BRUCE SELF and DAVE SOMERVILLE our 2009/10 Champion. In fifth place we now have JAMES BLYTH, LUKE HAMMOND and GRANT PHILLIPS, all on a total of 61 goals.

We had some bad scores this weekend on the whole, with some of our top teams picking up blank score sheets. The average score down from seven goals of last weekend to just 4 goals this weekend. So if you have done better than that? Well done. The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals, and they came from two of our teams. we had just 4 of our teams in cup action and out of them 2 have made it through to the next round. They are DUNDEE who after they had failed to score in their last 2 league games, won 4-0 at home to Airdrie. Dundee have taken their goals total to 66 goals. CELTIC won 5-0 at home to Raith Rovers and are now on a total of 97 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. The teams that went out are RANGERS go out of the cup after they lost 1-0 at home to Queen’s Park. After a goal run of 19 league/cup games, Rangers have now had a total of four blank score sheets. COVE RANGERS are out of the cup after they lost 3-0 away to Livingston and they picked up their 6th blank of the season.

In the very first game of the FA Cup 4th Round, MANCHESTER UNITED went 1-0 down at half time against LEICESTER CITY, but came back to win 2-1 at home. United are on a total of 46 goals while City picked up goal number 38.

Newcastle Will Play Liverpool in EFL Cup Final

In the other Carabao/League Cup semi-final game, there will be no north London final as LIVERPOOL who went 1-0 down against TOTTENHAM in their1st leg game, but they won the 2nd leg 4-0 at home. Newcastle in League Cup Final

In the Carabao/League Cup semi-finals 2nd leg, NEWCASTLE won 2-0 in the 1st leg  against ARSENAL. In the 2nd leg Newcastle won again 2-0 to win 4-0 on aggregate. Newcastle are on a total of 56 goals and have extended their goal run to 16 league/cup games. Arsenal picked up their 5th blank of the season after a goal run of 5 league/cup games. 

In the Championship top of the table LEEDS UNITED won 2-0 away to Coventry City and are on a total of 63 goals. 

In the Scottish Premiership Champions CELTIC won 6-0 at home to DUNDEE and have now taken their goals tally up to 92 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. Dundee picked up their 8th blank of the season and now 2 in a row.

Burnley Still Behind Leeds

In the Championship BURNLEY won 1-0 at home against OXFORD UNITED. Burnley had failed to score in their previous 2 games and are no on a total of 40 goals and remain second in the league. Oxford picked up their 9th blank of the season. 

In League Two after they had failed to score in their last 2 games, BROMLEY are back on the score sheet after they drew 3-3 away to Salford City. Bromley are now on a total of 47 goals.

Chelsea Move to 4th Place

In the Premier League in the London derby, CHELSEA after going a goal down against rivals WEST HAM, came back to win 2-1 at home. Chelsea are on a total of 57 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. West Ham hit goal number 32. 

In the Championship MIDDLESBROUGH lost 3-2 at home to Sunderland and are on a total of 52 goals.

Week Twenty-Six

In Week Twenty-Six of the competition, we are back to our normal £5 Weekend Jackpot. This weekends winner was LOUIE HARRINGTON winning on a score of 16 goals, which is his personal best score. Louie becomes our 28th winner of the season with our second highest weekend score.

Louie started with Golden Goals back in the 2020/21 season and he finished on a total of 238 goals which left him in 84th place. Last season he finished in 101st place with 256 goals. This season, we see Louie at his highest position this week to date. He has picked up 4 blank weekend score sheets and Rangers are currently his best team. Here are his winners teams.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Just under half of us managed to pick up some more goals during midweek, so the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot has changed slightly from last week again. We now have a total of 35 players that are on or over the halfway mark. The highest score went to ROBERT BASSEETT and JAMIE WOOD with a total of 4 goals each. Leading the race this week we still have ALFIE DIMMOCK now on his own as he takes his total to 61 goals. In second place down from being joint leader last week, we have BARBARA BARNES (2) now on a total of 59 goals. In third place we still have PETER WELLARD and RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion, both with a total of 58 goals. In fourth place we still have CHRIS SETFORD now with a total of 57 goals. In fifth place with a total of 56 goals each, we have TOBY BICKNELL our 2014/15 Champion and down from two MARTIN CORBETT. In sixth place both down from three we have DAVID BARRETT and BARRY BURROUGHS both are on a total of 55 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 5 of our teams without a game this weekend and we had another 14 teams that failed to score any goals. Although we once again had some high scores this weekend, we had a very good weekend on the whole, as the average score came up from four goals of last weekend back up to 7 goals this weekend. So if you have done better than that? Well done.

The highest score over the weekend was 7 goals, and they came from the Championship where LEEDS UNITED picked up their biggest result of the season by winning 7-0 at home to Cardiff City. Leeds have taken their goals tally up to 61 goals.

Leeds United became our 11th most voted team in our first season of 1983/84. In that season they finished on a total of 65 goals. Their highest score is 97 goals which they did in the 2008/09 and then again in the 2023/24. This is their 37th appearance with us and over the years they have scored a total of 2582 goals which gives them an average score of 69 goals per season to date. This season they have a total of 25 votes and they have picked up 7 blank score sheets. Here are the rest of the weekend results.

Top of the table LIVERPOOL won 2-0 away to AFC BOURNEMOUTH and are on a total of 70 goals and a goal run of 5 games. Bournemouth picked up their 6th blank score sheet after a goal run of 6 games. In second place we have ARSENAL who won 5-1 at home against MANCHESTER CITY and have taken their goals tally up to 61 goals. Arsenal have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. City picked up goal number 59 and hav extended their goal run to 12 league/cup games. LEICESTER CITY lost 4-0 away to Everton and that is their 8th blank of the season. NEWCASTLE UNITED lost 2-1 at home to Fulham and picked up goal number 54 and have now scored in all of their last 15 league/cup games. ASTON VILLA lost 2-0 away to Wolves and picked up their 6th  blank of the season after a goal run of 6 league/cup games. It’s 60 goals for TOTTENHAM after they won 2-0 away to Brentford. They have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. MANCHESTER UNITED lost 2-0 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE and picked up their 9th blank of the season after a goal run of 5 league/cup games. CHAMPIONSHIP

Leeds United are top of the table after their big win over the weekend. SHEFFIELD UNITED are still in 2nd place after they won 1-0 away to Derby County. United are on a total of 45 goals.

In the Play-offs we now have just one of the 4 teams and they are BURNLEY still in 3rd place as they drew 0-0 away to PORTSMOUTH. Burnley picked up their 13th blank of the season and now 2 in a row. Portsmouth picked up their 14th and have also failed to score in their last 2 league games.

Meanwhile OXFORD UNITED drew 1-1 at home to Bristol City and are on a total of 37 goals. NORWICH CITY won 1-0 away to Watford and are on a total of 53 goals. MILLWALL won 2-1 at home to QPR and are on a total of 34 goals. LUTON TOWN drew 1-1 away to Sheffield Wednesday and are on a total of 31 goals. SWANSEA CITY lost 2-0 at home to Coventry City and that is their 13th blank of the season.

LEAGUE ONE

Top of the table BIRMINGHAM CITY won 2-1 at home to Rotherham City and are on a total of 52 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games.

In 3rd place we still have WREXHAM who won 2-1 away to Crawley Town and are on a total of 45 goals and have now scored in all of their last 14 league/cup games. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN are down to 4th  place after they lost 3-2 away to Northampton Town and are on a total of 46 goals.

Meanwhile  BARNSLEY drew 0-0 at home to Burton and picked up their 9th blank of the season. BOLTON lost 1-0 away to Reading and picked up their 9th blank of the season after a goal run of 9 games. The highest team that we have are DONCASTER ROVERS now in 2nd place after they won 2-1 at home to MK DONS and are on a total of 48 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. The Dons are on 42 goals. NOTTS COUNTY have moved up to 3rd place after they won 2-1 away to Gillingham. County are now on a total of 56 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games.

In the Play-offs we have just one of the 4 teams. They are AFC WIMBLEDON up to 4th place after they won 1-0 at home to Bradford City. Wimbledon picked up goal number 46.

Meanwhile  CHESTERFIELD lost 1-0 away to Cheltenham Town and picked up their 7th blank of the season after a goal run of 5 league/cup games. BROMLEY lost 2-0 at home to Grimsby Town and picked up their 6th blank of the season and now 2 in a row.

RANGERS are still in second place after they won 4-0 away to ROSS COUNTY and have taken their goals tally to 66. Rangers have extended their goal run to 19 league/cup games. County picked up their 11th blank of the season after a goal run of 9 league/cup games. HEARTS picked up their biggest result of the season after they won 6-0 away to DUNDEE. Hearts have taken their goals tally up to 38 goals while Dundee, after a goal run of 6 league/cup games, picked up their 7th blank of the season. KILMARNOCK won 1-0 at home to Dundee United and are on a total of 29 goals.

In League One STENHOUSEMUIR are back at the top after they won 3-0 away to Montrose. Stenhousemuir who had failed to score in their previous 3 games, are now on a total of 42 goals. COVE RANGERS have moved in to 2nd place after they won 2-1 at home against Arbroath and are on a total of 43 goals.

In League Two EAST FIFE are still top after they lost 1-0 away to Elgin City and that is their 5th blank of the season after a goal run of 6 league/cup games. PETERHEAD remained in second place after they drew 2-2 at home to Forfar. Peterhead are on a total of 45 goals. Our highest goal-scoring team that we have in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER CITY after they won 8-0 at home to Salford City in the FA Cup 3rd Round in Week Twenty-Three.

GEOFF DOCKERILL our 1994/95 Champion, is celebrating his 5th weekend at the top after his teams picked him up a total of 10 goals from the weekend. Geoff’s teams are Arsenal, Celtic and Liverpool. Luke Hammond is still in second place, now 6 goals behind Geoff. Luke picked up a total of 5 goals from the weekend and his teams are Celtic, Chelsea and Liverpool.

At the other end at 114 we still have CHARLIE FARLEY with his 12th consecutive weekend. Charlie’s teams picked up just 4 goals again all from the weekend. His teams are Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir.
