In the Premier League, top of the table ARSENAL won 4-1 at home to ASTON VILLA and have taken their goals tally up to 42 goals and they have extended their goal run to 19 league/cup games. Villa are on a total of 31 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. CHELSEA drew 2-2 at home against AFC BOURNEMOUTH and are on a total of 41 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Bournemouth are on 29 goals. NOTTINGHAM FOREST lost 2-0 at home to Everton and picked up their 10^th blank of the season. Week Twenty-One

 

In Week Twenty-One of the competition, we start our second half here at Golden Goals. There was no Weekend Prize Money this weekend due to the way the Christmas fixtures are this year. 

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Nearly all of us managed to pick up some goals this week, mainly from Boxing Day games, which means that our top five have changed again this week. It was JAMES WISE picked up the most number of goals on Boxing Day with 8. They came from Celtic, Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United.

In the lead this week we now have BARBARA BARNES (1) up from two with SCOTT THOMSON (1) moving up from three. Both are on a total of 50 goals and halfway to their target of 100 goals. In second place we now have EMMAF down from one, still on a total of 47 goals. In third place we now have MICHAEL FISHER up from sixth place with a total of 46 goals. In fourth place with 44 goals we now have our 2023/24 Champion JOHN FILTNESS and JED WEARDEN both coming back into the race. In fifth place we now have down from four HAYLEY ADKINS also back in we have PETER PORTER, KEITH RATTLE and JAMES SOMERVILLE all on a total of 43 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had just 24 of our teams in action over the weekend, and out of them 5 of them failed to score any goals. We have had another decent week for goals to see out 2025. The highest score over the weekend was 4 goals and they came from two of our teams, CELTIC and COVE RANGERS.

We now have the top seven teams this weekend with ARSENAL still top of the league, after they won 2-1 at home to BRIGHTON. Arsenal are on a total of 38 and a goal run of 18 league/cup games. WEST HAM UNITED lost 1-0 at home to Fulham and picked up their 7th blank of the season and two in a row. LIVERPOOL won 2-1 at home against bottom of the table WOLVES. Liverpool are on a total of 32 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. Wolves are on 18 goals. SUNDERLAND drew 1-1 at home against Leeds Utd and picked up goal number 21. CRYSTAL PALACE lost 1-0 at home to TOTTENHAM and picked up their 6th blank of the season. Tottenham picked up goal number 30.   

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership, top of the table HEARTS lost their second league game, 3-2 away to HIBERNIAN. Hearts are on a total of 55 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Hibs are now on a total of 33 goals. Second place, CELTIC beat bottom of the table Livingston 4-2 away and have taken their goals tally to 45 goals and have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games. RANGERS won their 8th league game 1-0 at home to Motherwell and are on a total of 32 goals. Rangers have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games.

In the Championship AYR UNITED drew 1-1 away to Greenock Morton and are on a total of 43 goals. Bottom of the table ROSS COUNTY drew 0-0 at home to St Johnstone. County have now had a total of 8 blank scoresheets and now three in a row.

In League One STENHOUSEMUIR are still in second in the table after they drew 0-0 away to Alloa and picked up their 9th blank of the season. EAST FIFE picked up their 6th blank of the season and now two in a row after they lost 1-0 at home to Kelty Hearts. COVE RANGERS won 4-0 away to Peterhead and have taken their goals total up to 28.

In League Two, CLYDE in 3rd place drew 1-1 away to East Kilbride and are now on a total of 37 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 games. DUMBARTON lost 2-1 at home to Stirling and are on a total of 33 goals.

Our highest scoring team in our 43rd season are ROSS COUNTY. They won 8-0 at home against Edinburgh City in the first round group stages of the Scottish League Cup in Week One.

We still have HAYLEY ADKINS at the top this week as she picks up a total of 6 from the weekend. This is her 4th consecutive weekend and now 10 over the season. Hayley’s teams are Hearts, Liverpool and Manchester City. Vincent Cruickshank remains in second place this weekend as he picks up a total of 6 goals from his teams this week. Vincent is still just 1 goal behind Hayley with his teams Celtic, MK Dons and Southampton. 

At the other end at 111 we still have ANNE HAMMOND making her 7th weekend there. Anne picked up just 3 goals this week. Anne’s teams are Crystal Palace, Rangers and Wolves.

Arsenal in Semi-Finals of Cup

 

In the very last game of the Carabao/League Cup Quarter-Finals, ARSENAL drew 1-1 at home to London rivals CRYSTAL PALACE. Then to penalties where Arsenal won 8-7. Arsenal are on a total of 36 goals and have extended their goal run to 17 league/cup games. Palace picked up goal number 26.

The Semi-Finals are between CHELSEA v ARSENAL and NEWCASTLE v MANCHESTER CITY.

Week Twenty

 

In Week Twenty of the competition, it’s half-time here at Golden Goals as we had our fifth Rollover of the season worth £10. We had a total of 3 players who had to share the jackpot this time round, and they were MIKE LIDDLE, our 2002/03 Champion MICHAEL PEPPERRELL and SAMUEL STEPHENS. All of our winners won on a score of 10 goals. That now means that we have had a total of 23 winners so far.

Mike started with us in the 1996/97 season where he finished in 92nd place out of 106, with a total of 206 goals. Last season he finished in 53rd place with 269 goals. This season he has been as high as 7th place in Week Two and this is his personal best weekend score. Mike has picked up just two blank weekend score sheets and his best team is Celtic.

Michael started with us before the 2000/01 season where he finished in 89th place out of 102 with 229 goals. Michael became Champion in the 2002/03 season with a total of 338 goals which puts him in fifth place in our Champions League. Last season he finished in 38th place with 280 goals and picked up one weekend win. This season Michael has had two blank weekend scoresheets and this is his personal best weekend score. His highest position is 12th place in Week Six. Celtic is also his best team.

Samuel started in the 2021/22 season where he finished in 29th place out of 113 with a total of 290 goals. He did pick up one weekend win. Last season he finished in 90th place with 243 goals. This season Samuel has been as high as 12th place in Week Eight and he has had a total of three blank weekend scoresheets. This is the second time that he has picked up 10 goals at the weekend this season. Manchester City is his best team.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had just 3 of our teams without a game over the weekend, with another 10 of them failing to score any goals. Well it’s about time that we had a decent weekend and just in time for Christmas. The average score last weekend was just four goals but this weekend it has shot up to 6 goals, which I think it’s the highest of the season. So if you have managed to pick up more goals than that this weekend, you have done well.

Our highest scoring team in our 43rd season are ROSS COUNTY. They won 8-0 at home against Edinburgh City in the first round group stages of the Scottish League Cup in Week One. 

We still have HAYLEY ADKINS at the top this week as she picks up a total of 9 from the week. This is her 3rd consecutive weekend and now nine over the season. Hayley’s teams are Hearts, Liverpool and Manchester City. Vincent Cruickshank remains in second place this weekend as he picks up a total of 9 goals from his teams this week. Vincent is still just 1 goal behind Hayley with his teams Celtic, MK Dons and Southampton.

In the Championship, WREXHAM lost 2-1 away to Swansea City and are on a total of 36 goals. 

In League Two CREWE ALEXANDRA drew 1-1 at home to Bristol Rovers and hit goal number 36. They have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. 

Luton Remain 7th Place

In League One LUTON TOWN lost their 8^th league game 3-2 away to Reading. Luton are on a total of 32 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games.

More League Cup Quarter-Final games

We had more games for the Carabao/League Cup Quarter-Finals MANCHESTER CITY won 2-0 at home to Brentford and are on a total of 45 goals. City have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. NEWCASTLE won 2-1 at home to Fulham and are on a total of 29 goals.  

In the Scottish Premiership, second placed CELTIC have lost their fourth league game and now two in a row, 2-1 away to Dundee Utd. Celtic are on a total of 38 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games.

First Game of the League Cup Quarter-Finals

In the first game of the League Cup Quarter-Finals, CARDIFF CITY lost 3-1 at home to CHELSEA and picked up goal number 46. They have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. Chelsea are the first team into the semi-finals and they are now on a total of 36 goals.

Rangers On The Up

In the Premier League MANCESTER UNITED drew 4-4 at home against AFC BOURNEMOUTH and have taken their goals total to 32. Bournemouth, who had failed to score in their last two games, picked up their biggest result of the season and have taken their goals tally to 25. 

In the Premiership RANGERS have moved into third place after they won 1-0 at home against HIBERNIAN. Rangers are on a total of 30 goals while Hibs picked up their 6th blank of the season.

In Week Nineteen of the competition, we had a total of 8 players who picked up this weekend’s highest score of 7 goals each. That now means that we will have our fifth Rollover of the season next weekend, worth £10.

Most of us managed to pick up some goals this week, which means that our top five have changed slightly this week. In the lead this week we still have EMMAF now on a total of 46 goals. In second place we still have SCOTT THOMSON (1) and he is now joined with BARBARA BARNES (1) who has moved down from one. Both are on a total of 42 goals. In third place we now have HAYLEY ADKINS down from second place with a total of 41 goals. In fourth place with 39 goals we have DAVID BARRETT down from third place. In fifth place we now have COURTNEYP moving down from four with a total of 38 goals. In sixth place we now have ALEX DAVEY down from five and our joint 2023/24 Champion JOHN FILTNESS down from fourth place. Both are now on a total of 37 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 6 of our teams without a game over the weekend, with another 9 of them failing to score any goals. Once again there were not many big results from our teams but we did have a good weekend for goals as most of them scored a goal or two. The average score last weekend was five goals but this weekend it has dropped down to just 4 goals. So if you have managed to pick up more goals than that this weekend, you have done well. The highest score over the weekend was once again 4 goals and they came from three of our teams. They are CARDIFF CITY, CLYDE and CREWE.

We now have the top eight teams this weekend with ARSENAL still top of the league, after they won 2-1 at home to bottom of the table WOLVES. Scottish League Cup Final,  we had just CELTIC taking part in the final and they lost 3-1 against St Mirren at Hampden Park. Celtic are on a total of 37 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. 

In the Premiership, top of the table HEARTS won 2-0 away to Falkirk and are on a total of 51 goals.

In the Championship bottom of the table ROSS COUNTY lost their 9th league game, 6-0 away to Raith Rovers. County have now had a total of 6 blank scoresheets. 

In League One STENHOUSEMUIR lost 3-0 away to Montrose and picked up their 8th blank of the season and now 2 games without a goal. COVE RANGERS lost 1-0 at home to EAST FIFE and they picked up their 11th blank of the season. Fife picked up their 25th goal of the season.
