Week Fourteen

In Week Fourteen of the competition we had our 18th winner of the season, picking up the full prize money of £5 and that went to PETER PORTER on a score of 11 goals. That is his personal best weekend score. Peter started with Golden Goals way back in the 1989/90 season on where he finished in 40th place out of 44 players with a total of 182 goals. Last season Peter finished in 99th place out of 114 with a total of 232 goals. This season his first win for a long while, he has picked up three blank weekend scoresheets and Celtic is his best team to date. Pete's highest position is 14th place in Week One. Just under half of us picked up goals this week, which means that our top five have had a slight change again this week. The highest midweek score was 5 goals and they went to STEVE ARYRES and our 1997/98 Champion MIKE HARRINGTON. In the lead this week we still have EMMAF with that total of 39 goals. Her teams are Ayr United, Brighton and Crewe. In second place we still have DAVID BARRETT now with 36 goals. Coming straight in third place, we now have SCOTT THOMSON (1) with a total of 35 goals. Down to fourth place we have HAYLEY ADKINS now with a total of 34 goals. In fifth place, we still have our joint 2023/24 Champion, JOHN FILTNESS with a total of 33 goals. In sixth place down from five we have BARBARA BARNES (1) with 32 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had just 2 of our teams not in action over the weekend and another 10 teams that failed to score any goals. The average score this weekend remained as last weekend's score of 6 goals. So if you picked up more than that, you have done well this weekend. The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals and they came from League One where PETERBOROUGH UNITED won their biggest result of the season, 5-0 at home against AFC Wimbledon. Borough have taken their goals tally to 17 and have now scored in all of their last 5 league games.

BLACKPOOL won 3-1 at home to CARDIFF CITY and are now on a total of 17 goals while Cardiff are on 31. BOLTON won 4-0 at home to Port Vale and have taken their goals tally to 28. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN won 3-1 at home to bottom of the table PLYMOUTH. CELTIC, in second place, won 4-0 at home against Kilmarnock. Celtic are now on a total of 31 goals. HIBERNIAN remained in third place after they won 3-0 away to St Mirren. In the Championship, ROSS COUNTY drew 3-3 at home to AYR UNITED and are now on a total of 28 goals. Ayr are now on a total of 32 goals after they had failed to score in their previous two games.

In League One, STENHOUSEMUIR have dropped down to third place after they drew 2-2 at home to Kelty Hearts and are on a total of 19 goals. EAST FIFE lost 3-0 away to Queen of the South and picked up their third blank of the season after they had scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. In the last game of the FA CUP first round, lucky LEYTON ORIENT won 1-0 away to non-league Tamworth with an own goal in the 79^th minute. Orient are on a total of 22 goals.

Week Thirteen

In Week Thirteen of the competition we had our 17th winner of the season, picking up the full prize money of £5 and that went to our 1997/98 Champion MIKE HARRINGTON on a score of 10 goals. That is his personal best weekend score. 

Mike started with Golden Goals back in the 1996/97 season where he finished in the winning frame in 12th place on a total of 278 goals. He also picked up one shared weekend win. Mike became joint Champion in the following year with David Salmon. They won on a total of 276 goals. He also picked up three weekend wins. Start of FA CUP 1st Round

In the first game of the FA CUP 1^st Round, LUTON TOWN had a tough game against non-league Forest Green Rovers, scoring a late goal to win 4-3 at home. With their biggest win of the season, Luton have taken their goals tally to 19. 

In the Championship, WREXHAM won their fourth game of the season with a 3-2 home win against Coventry City. Wrexham are now on a total of 28 goals. 

IN the Scottish Championship, AYR UNITED lost 1-0 at home to Dunfermline and picked up their fifth blank of the season. Ayr have now failed to score in their last two league games.

CRYSTAL PALACE won 3-0 away to LIVERPOOL and are now on a total of 16 goals. Liverpool’s 100% scoring record comes to an end after a total of 10 games and picked up their first blank scoresheet. MANCHESTER CITY won 3-1 away to Swnsea and are now on a total of 22 goals. CHELSEA won 4-3 away to WOLVES and have taken their goals tally to 23 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. Wolves are now on a total of 15 goals. In the start of the Carabao/League Cup 4^th Round, we had three teams in action and out of them only one has made it through to the quarter-finals. Wycombe are out of the competition as they picked up goal number 23 and have extended their goal run to 10 league/cup games. WREXHAM are out after they lost 2-1 at home against CARDIFF CITY. In League One, PLYMOUTH lost their 9^th league game 2-0 away to Mansfield. Plymouth picked up their sixth blank scoresheet and now they have failed to score in their last two league games.

News on World Cup 2026

Here is the list of teams that have so far qualified for the World Cup 2026. They are as follows,

Week Twelve

In Week Twelve of the competition we had our 16th winner of the season, picking up the full prize money of £5 and that went to our two-time Champions this week, our birthday boy ME!! (STEVE REEVE) Yes I won on a score of 9 goals which is my personal best weekend score. In the first season I finished in 23rd  place out of 25 with a total of 225 goals and picked up one weekend win. The first time that I became Champion was in the 2008/09 season finishing on a total of 290 goals. The second time was in the 2020/21 season and finished with a total of 307 goals. With these two wins I am in 26th and 35th place in our Champions League. This season this is the highest that I have been and I have picked up 2 blank weekend scoresheets. Liverpool is my best team this week. My winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Nearly half of us picked up goals this week, which means that our top five have had a slight change again this week. In the lead this week we still have EMMAF now with a total of 39 goals. Her teams are Ayr United, Brighton and Crewe. In second place we still have DAVID BARRETT with 30 goals. In third place we still have HAYLEY ADKINS and BISH-BASH-BOSH (Keith Rattle) both with a total of 29 goals. In fourth place, we still have BARBARA BARNES (1) and our joint 2023/24 Champion, JOHN FILTNESS but they are joined this week with COURTNEYP. All are on a total of 24 goals. In fifth place we now have our 2005/06 Champion, KEAMUS SETNA down from four with a total of 24 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 5 of our teams not in action over the weekend and another 11 teams that failed to score any goals. The average score this weekend went up from three goals last weekend to 4 goals. So if you picked up more than that, you have done well this weekend.

The highest score over the weekend was 4 goals, and they came from the Premier League where MANCHESTER UNITED picked up their biggest result of the season with a 4-2 home win against BRIGHTON. United have taken their goals tally to 17 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 5 games. Brighton are on a total of 26 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games.

United are just one of the four teams that have a 100% appearance record. In our very first season they became our fourth top voted team and finished on a total of 79 goals. United have hit 100 goals in four season’s but their biggest end of season total was in the 1993/94 with 117 goals. Last season they finished the season on a total of just 63 goals. Top of the table ARSENAL won 1-0 at home to London rivals CRYSTAL PALACE and are on a total of 18 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 7 league games. Palace after they had scored in all of their last 5 league games, picked up their third blank of the season. AFC BOURNEMOUTH have moved up to second place after they won 2-0 at home against NOTTINGHAM FOREST. Bournemouth are on 16 goals while Forest picked up their sixth blank of the season and now four consecutive games without a goal. It’s 10 goals for ASTON VILLA after they won 1-0 at home against MANCHESTER CITY. Villa have now scored in all of their last 6 games while City after a goal run of 7 league/cup games, picked up their second blank of the season. CHAMPIONSHIP

WATFORD lost 3-1 away to Coventry and are on a total of 15 goals. IPSWICH TOWN won 1-0 at home to West Brom and are on a total of 18 goals. BLACKBURN ROVERS won 2-1 at home against SOUTHAMPTON. Rovers are on a total of 11 goals while Southampton are on a total of 18 goals. BRISTOL CITY won 1-0 at home against BIRMINGHAM CITY and hit goal number 19 and have now scored in all of their last 5 league games. Birmingham picked up their fifth blank of the season. LEICESTER CITY lost 1-0 away to Millwall and picked up their second blank scoresheet after a goal run of 5 league/cup games. After they had failed to score in their last two games, NORWICH CITY lost 2-1 away to Swansea and hit goal number 14.

LEAGUE ONE  

CARDIFF CITY are still top of the table after they lost 1-0 away to BOLTON WANDERERS. City picked up their third blank of the season while Bolton are on a total of 22 goals. LEYTON ORIENT won 1-0 at home to Lincoln and are on a total of 21 goals. After they had failed to score in their last two league games, LUTON TOWN won 1-0 away to Northampton and are on a total of 15 goals. PETERBOROUGH UNITED are bottom of the table after they lost 2-1 at home to BLACKPOOL. Peterborough are on a total of 11 goals while Blackpool are on 13 goals. WYCOMBE picked up their biggest win of the season, 3-0 at home to HUDDERSFIELD TOWN. Wycombe are now on a total of 22 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. Huddersfield picked up their third blank of the season.

LEAGUE TWO

Top of the table WALSALL lost again 1-0 away to Cheltenham. Walsall after a goal run of 9 league games, picked up their fourth blank of the season. SWINDON TOWN are now in second place after they drew 0-0 at home to Colchester. Swindon have picked up their third blank scoresheet. It’s 20 goals for BARNET after they drew 2-2 away to Barrow. BROMLEY won 2-1 at home against MK DONS and are on a total of 23 goals. The Dons on a total of 27 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. CREWE won 3-2 at home to Grimsby and are now on a total of 21 goals. It’s 20 goals for GILLINGHAM after they lost 2-1 at home against Salford. NOTTS COUNTY won 2-0 at home to Cambridge Utd and are on a total of 25 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 games. CHESTERFIELD drew 1-1 away to Tranmere and are on a total of 24 goals. SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the SCOTTISH CUP Second Round we had two of our teams in action. They were CLYDE who lost 3-2 at home to Annan and are on a total of 25 goals. DUMBARTON are through to the next round after they won 2-0 at home to non-league Tayport and are on a total of 22 goals and have extended their goal run to 12 league/cup games.

In the Premiership, top of the table HEARTS have beaten last season’s champions CELTIC 3-1 at home. Hearts are now on a total of 39 goals. Hearts keep their 100% record going after playing in 14 league/cup games. Celtic in second place have lost their second consecutive game and picked up their 20th goal of the season. HIBERNIAN have remained in third place after they won 2-1 away to Aberdeen. Hibs are on a total of 18 goals. RANGERS have won their second league game 3-1 at home to Kilmarnock and are now on a total of 17 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games.

In the Championship, AYR UNITED drew 0-0 away to Queen’s Park and picked up their fourth blank of the season. ROSS COUNTY, after they had failed to score in their last two games, won their second game of the season 3-2 at home against Dunfermline and are now on a total of 13 goals.

In League One STENHOUSEMUIR are now top of the table after they drew 0-0 away to Alloa and picked up their fifth blank of the season. Bottom of the table COVE RANGERS have won their first league game 3-0 away to Montrose. After they had failed to score in their last three league games, Rangers are now on a total of 13 goals.

Our highest scoring team in our 43rd Season is ROSS COUNTY. They won 8-0 at home against Edinburgh City in the first round group stages of the Scottish League Cup in Week One.

HAYLEY ADKINS remains at the top for the fifth consecutive weekend. Hayley picked up a total of 5 goals all from the weekend. Hayley’s teams are Hearts, Liverpool and Manchester City. Emmaf remains in second place after she picked up a total of 6 goals from the week. Emmaf teams are Ayr United, Brighton and Crewe.
