In Week Twenty-One of the competition, we start our second half here at Golden Goals. There was no Weekend Prize Money this weekend due to the way the Christmas fixtures are this year.
Nearly all of us managed to pick up some goals this week, mainly from Boxing Day games, which means that our top five have changed again this week. It was JAMES WISE picked up the most number of goals on Boxing Day with 8. They came from Celtic, Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United.
In the lead this week we now have BARBARA BARNES (1) up from two with SCOTT THOMSON (1) moving up from three. Both are on a total of 50 goals and halfway to their target of 100 goals. In second place we now have EMMAF down from one, still on a total of 47 goals. In third place we now have MICHAEL FISHER up from sixth place with a total of 46 goals. In fourth place with 44 goals we now have our 2023/24 Champion JOHN FILTNESS and JED WEARDEN both coming back into the race. In fifth place we now have down from four HAYLEY ADKINS also back in we have PETER PORTER, KEITH RATTLE and JAMES SOMERVILLE all on a total of 43 goals.
WEEKEND RESULTS
We had just 24 of our teams in action over the weekend, and out of them 5 of them failed to score any goals. We have had another decent week for goals to see out 2025. The highest score over the weekend was 4 goals and they came from two of our teams, CELTIC and COVE RANGERS.

PREMIER LEAGUE
We now have the top seven teams this weekend with ARSENAL still top of the league, after they won 2-1 at home to BRIGHTON. Arsenal are on a total of 38 and a goal run of 18 league/cup games. Brighton, who had failed to score in their previous two games, picked up goal number 38. In second place we still have MANCHESTER CITY who won 2-1 away to NOTTINGHAM FOREST and are now on a total of 50 goals and have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. Forest are on 20 goals. ASTON VILLA are still in third place as they won 2-1 away to CHELSEA. Villa are now on a total of 30 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. Chelsea are on a total of 39 goals. AFC BOURNEMOUTH lost 4-1 away to Brentford and are on a total of 27 goals. WEST HAM UNITED lost 1-0 at home to Fulham and picked up their 7th blank of the season and two in a row. LIVERPOOL won 2-1 at home against bottom of the table WOLVES. Liverpool are on a total of 32 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. Wolves are on 18 goals. SUNDERLAND drew 1-1 at home against Leeds Utd and picked up goal number 21. CRYSTAL PALACE lost 1-0 at home to TOTTENHAM and picked up their 6th blank of the season. Tottenham picked up goal number 30.
SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Premiership, top of the table HEARTS lost their second league game, 3-2 away to HIBERNIAN. Hearts are on a total of 55 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Hibs are now on a total of 33 goals. Second place, CELTIC beat bottom of the table Livingston 4-2 away and have taken their goals tally to 45 goals and have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games. RANGERS won their 8th league game 1-0 at home to Motherwell and are on a total of 32 goals. Rangers have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games.
In the Championship AYR UNITED drew 1-1 away to Greenock Morton and are on a total of 43 goals. Bottom of the table ROSS COUNTY drew 0-0 at home to St Johnstone. County have now had a total of 8 blank scoresheets and now three in a row.
In League One STENHOUSEMUIR are still in second in the table after they drew 0-0 away to Alloa and picked up their 9th blank of the season. EAST FIFE picked up their 6th blank of the season and now two in a row after they lost 1-0 at home to Kelty Hearts. COVE RANGERS won 4-0 away to Peterhead and have taken their goals total up to 28.
In League Two, CLYDE in 3rd place drew 1-1 away to East Kilbride and are now on a total of 37 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 games. DUMBARTON lost 2-1 at home to Stirling and are on a total of 33 goals.

Our best performing team is MK DONS after they have now scored in all of their last 18 league/cup games. With a total of 49 goals, their average score is 1.9 goals per game.
Our worst performing team is now WOLVES this weekend, as they have picked up 10 blank scoresheets in their 21 league/cup games.
Our highest scoring team in our 43rd season are ROSS COUNTY. They won 8-0 at home against Edinburgh City in the first round group stages of the Scottish League Cup in Week One.
We still have HAYLEY ADKINS at the top this week as she picks up a total of 6 from the weekend. This is her 4th consecutive weekend and now 10 over the season. Hayley’s teams are Hearts, Liverpool and Manchester City. Vincent Cruickshank remains in second place this weekend as he picks up a total of 6 goals from his teams this week. Vincent is still just 1 goal behind Hayley with his teams Celtic, MK Dons and Southampton.
At the other end at 111 we still have ANNE HAMMOND making her 7th weekend there. Anne picked up just 3 goals this week. Anne’s teams are Crystal Palace, Rangers and Wolves.
Here we are at the start of the season half of the season and not much has changed in the top ten.
