We now with just two days left to go before the deadline and
still a very long way to our target.
We have added another two new teams for this season and they
are Aberdeen and Aston
Villa. Aberdeen will be
starting their 16th season with Golden Goals. They were in our first
fifteen seasons and then nothing till now, so it will be great to see how they
compare to the past seasons. Their biggest score was in our very first season
of 1983/84 were they finished on a total of 112 goals. Last time out in our
1997/98 Season they finished on a total of 50 their lowest score to date. Aston Villa will be starting their 15th
season with us. One of our original teams they have been on and off over the
years. Last time in was back in our 2009/10 Season with 80 goals which is their
biggest score to date.
Not much has changed in the running for the top teams this
season. Celtic still remain out in front but now on 36 votes out of 84. Rangers
are still second but now with 32 votes. Chelsea keep third place with 28 while Man
UTD are right behind still fourth but with 27 votes. In joint fifth place we
have Arsenal and Man City both with 20 votes each. Next come QPR with 12 votes
and then Watford with 10.
There is just still time if you would like to get a copy of
the competition rules and entry form then e-mail me, Steve at goldengoals1983@gmail.com.
The very first game of the new season will be played tomorrow
night in League One between SHEFF UTD and Notts County.
We do have Sheffield United in this game and they have just two votes
this season at the moment compared to 18 last season. They finished on a total of 64 goals.
This will be their 14th season with Golden Goals and the best that they
have done is a total of 104 goals back in our 2011/12 Season. If Sheffield UTD
score any goals, these will counted as midweek goals.
