THE BEST THREE TEAMS FINISHED AS
MAN CITY (137) RANGERS (120) CELTIC (110) Total of 367 goals.
Our second best team was RANGERS with 120 goals, this is their best in their last twenty-one seasons as their best score of 126 was back in our 1992/93 Season. RANGERS have now rack up 14 seasons of 100 or more goals in 30 appearances. They had 38 votes this time round. Last season they picked up 107 goals. CELTIC left it till the very last moment to pick up another 100 goals to end their season. Celtic finished with 110 goals and have been in all of our season’s and as they pick up their 13th season of 100 goals, they have now made it four season’s in a row. Their best score is 122 goals scored back in our 2000/01 Season. Celtic were our top team for votes with 41. Last season they finished on a total of 117 goals. So how did the rest of our top teams do this season?
Our fourth best team was LIVERPOOL who ended the season with a total of 110 goals. With a total of 8 votes, this was Liverpool’s second best end of season score. Their best score is still 127 goals scored back in our 1985/86 Season. This is the sixth time that they have scored 100 goals or more in our 31 Season’s. Last season they finished on 78goals. Next came LEYTON ORIENT. They finished on 99 goals which is their biggest end of season score which they also finished on in our 1985/86 Season. Although they failed to win a place in the Championship this time round, they could be a team to look out for next season. They had a total of just one vote. Last season they finished on 80 goals. WATFORD finished on 86 goals which was their best since our 2005/06 Season with 88 goals. Their best score is 102 goals back in our 1984/85 Season. WOLVES finished on 91 goals and this was their best since our 2002/03 Season with 104 goals. PETERBOROUGH finished on 94 goals and that was their third best score out of their six season’s with Golden Goals. LEICESTER CITY picked up their biggest score with Golden Goals with 98 goals. They have beaten their 2008/09 Season score of 94 goals. BRISTOL CITY picked up their biggest end of season score with 80. They have beaten their best score of 79 which came in 1983/84 and then again in 2004/05 Season’s. FLEETWOOD TOWN finished on 73 goals which is their best score by far as last season they finished on 60 goals in their first season.
In Scotland, QUEEN OF THE SOUTH picked up their best score with 67 goals. This is their third season with us. ABERDEEN finished on 69 goals. We have not seen Aberdeen since 1997/98 Season when they finished on 50 goals, which is their worst score to date.

CHARLTON holds this seasons record for the most number of blank score sheets with a total of 21 out of their total 53 league and cup games.
Well that’s it, another season of GOLDEN GOALS has finished. I still can not believe that I have been doing this competition for 31 year’s and after all that, I am still looking forward to the next one.
It’s a great shame that our Golden Goals blog has not been successful at all which is a great shame.I was hoping that we would attract people out in the big world wide, but although they seem to be looking in, we have had no enquiries at all. So I will keep on doing the World Cup on the blog and perhaps another season to see what happens out there.
