WEEK THIRTY-NINE

Paul Davey could very well be our next Golden Goals Champion as he still remains top again this weekend after his combinations of teams picked him up a total of 7 goals. Paul has in his combination Man City, Rangers and Wolves and is now five goals clear of second place.

Paul Hudson has stayed in second place after collecting a total of 6 goals for the week his combination is  Man City, Rangers and Watford.
In the 103 spot we still have Malcolm Cormack who has now been there for fourteen weeks, and now fifteen over the season. Malcolm picked up 10 goals again this week from his teams of Charlton, Portsmouth and Swindon. Above him in 102 is still  Jim Howard as his teams  picked him up another 6  goals and is now seven goals in front of Malcolm.
Rangers still have that 100% scoring record after a run of fourty-three league/cup games.
In the Premiership, Manchester City  are now back on top as they win 3-2 away to Everton. City have now scored in all of their last fourteen games and they have beaten Peterboroughs highest end of season score of 129 goals back in our 2010/11 Season, and they still have games to play. Everton are now on 75 goals. Liverpool although on the same number of points, did not have any game this week so they have moved down to second place. Chelsea are now third as they drew 0-0 at home to Norwich. That was their 9th blank score sheet of the season. Arsenal are now fourth as they win 1-0 at home against West Brom. Arsenal picked up goal number 80. Everton are now in fifth while Tottenham are sixth as they lost 2-0 away to London rivals West Ham. Tottenham picked up their 12th blank of the season. Aston Villa have not had a big win for a while as they win 3-1 at home to Hull. Villa are now on 43 goals. Manchester Utd picked up their 9th blank score sheet as they lost 1-0 at home to Sunderland. Swansea picked up blank number eleven as they lost 1-0 at home to Southampton.

In the Championship, Champions Leicester City win just 1-0 at home to Doncaster to take their end of season goals tally to 98. Doncaster picked up their 19th blank of the season and they have only scored one goal in their last four games. Doncaster are relegated. In the play-off zone we have only two out of the four teams. They are QPR who won 3-2 away to Barnsley who are also promoted to the Premiership. Rangers have a total of 62 goals. Wigan have made it to the play-off’s even though they lost 4-3 away to Blackburn. Wigan are on 74 goals. Reading who fell one point sort of the play-off’s drew their last game 2-2 at home against Burnley. Reading  finished on a total of 70 goals. Charlton won 3-0 away to Blackpool and end on 55 goals. Blackpool picked up their 17th blank score sheet and finished in our worst team frame on just 39 goals. Bolton drew their last game 2-2 at home to Birmingham. Bolton finished on 65 while Birmingham finished on 75. Leeds drew their last game with Derby 1-1 and had a grand total of 64 goals. Bournemouth lost their last game 1-0 away to Millwall and picked up their 12th blank of the season. Nottingham Forest finished on 81 goals as they lost 2-1 at home to Brighton. Watford lost 4-1 at home to Huddersfiled but finished on a total of 86 goals. Middlesbrough finished on a very high score of four goals which they have not done since week twelve. Brough won 4-1away to Yeovil and finished on a total of 63 goals. 

In League One, Champion  Wolves won their last game 3-0 at home to Carlisle. Wolves finished on a total of 91 goals. Brentford, also promoted, won 2-0 at home against Stevenage. Brentford had a tally of 82 goals. In the play-off zone, we have three of the four teams. Leyton Orient are there as they win 3-1 away to Mk Dons. Orient are on 94 goals while the Dons finished on 76. Preston are there even though they lost 2-1 away to Crewe. Preston are on 84 goals. Our third team is Peterborough as they drew 0-0 at home to Port Vale. That was their 14th blank of  the season and they are on 92 goals. Sheffield Utd finished on 66 goals as they win their last game 2-1 at home to Coventry. Bristol City picked up goal number 80 as they drew1-1 against Crawley in their final game. Gillingham drew 1-1 at home to Shrewsbury and finished on a total of 61 goals. Swindon lost their last game 2-1 at home to Rotherham and finished on a total of 66 goals.

In League Two, Scunthorpe are promoted to League One but drew their last game 2-2 at home to York.  Scunthorpe finished on a total of  69 goals. In the play-off’s we have two out of four again. Fleetwood Town lost 2-1 away to Chesterfield but are now on 71 goals. Southend are on 66 as they won 1-0 at home against Burton. Portsmouth had left it very late to pick up goals and they picked up a total of eleven goals in their last four games. At the weekend they drew 3-3 at home to Plymouth. Portsmouth finished on 57 goals. Sad news for Bristol Rovers as they are relegated out of the football league as they lost 1-0 at home to Mansfield. That was Rover’s 18th blank score sheet and they finished on a total of  52 goals.

In the Scottish Leagues, In Scotland, Celtic picked up the highest score the weekend with a 5-2 home win against Aberdeen. Celtic are now on 104goals while Aberdeen are on 66. With the biggest thrashing of the season, Morton lost their last game 10-2 away to Hamilton. Morton finished on a total of 43 goals. Queen Of The South finished on 64 goals as they drew 1-1 away to Cowdenbeath. Rangers finished on 120 goals as they drew 1-1 away to Dunfermline. Stenhousemuir won 3-1 away to Brechin and finished on 69 goals. 

The three best teams to date in Golden Goals are Man City wth 131 goals followed by Rangers on 120. Liverpool are third with 105 goals and in fourth place on 104 we have Celtic.
Crystal Palace are still our worst team to date but now with a total of just 32 goals out of a total of 39 league/cup games.
