Week Twenty-Two

I would like to start off  by wishing you all a very Happy New year. This weekend we had the third round of the FA Cup where we were all hopping for some big results. There was but not from any of our teams.
The average weekend score did go up from two of last weekend to 4 this weekend although this is quite a big surprise to me. We had ten teams that had no game and another eleven teams that failed to score any goals. But our highest score did come from the FA Cup as CRYSTAL PALACE won 4-0 at home to non-league team Dover. Palace have had quite a season with managers and lack of points collected in the league. Palace after a two game dry spell for goals are now on a total 29 and it was their biggest score to date.
Palace have just one vote this season and this is their 21st appearance with Golden Goals. They first started in our 1988/89 Season and finished on 82 goals. Their highest score came from our 1996/97 Season with 93 goals. Last season they finished on just 37 goals. Over the season’s they have now netted a total of 1396 goals which gives them an average of  66 goals per season to date.

FA CUP Third Round
We had a very disappointed round in the FA Cup this weekend. Out of twenty-three teams that we had playing over the weekend, only nine have made it through to the next round.
DERBY are through with a last minute penalty against non-league team Southport. Derby won just 1-0 and that was their 58th goal of the season. READING are also through as they win 1-0 away to Huddersfield. Reading are now on a total of 35 goals. PRESTON are on 45 goals after they beat NORWICH 2-0 at home. Norwich picked up their 7th blank of the season. ARSENAL won 2-0 at home to Hull and are now on a total of 37 goals while CHELSEA won 3-0 at home to WATFORD. Chelsea are on 54 goals while Watford picked up their 6th blank of the season. It’s 53 goals for MANCHESTER CITY as they win 3-1 at home to Sheffield Wednesday after they went a goal down in the first 14 minutes. SHEFFIELD UNITED are through after they win 3-0 away to QPR. United are now on 43 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED have also made it after they win 2-0 away to Yeovil. United are now on 36 goals.
We had ten teams that went out of the cup competition. The others were BARNSLEY after they lost 2-0 at home to Middlesbrough and so they picked up their 7th blank score sheet and now two games in a row. WIGAN lost 1-0 away to
Bolton to pick up their 10th blank score sheet and now two games in a row. LUTON are also out as they went down 2-1 away to Cambridge Utd. Luton picked up goal number 36. CHARLTON picked up their 29th goal of the season but they lost 2-1at home to Blackburn. NOTTINGHAM FOREST lost 1-0 away to Rochdale to pick up blank number seven while ROTHERHAM lost 5-1 at home to Bournemouth. Rotherham are now on 23 goals. LEEDS UTD picked up their third blank score sheet in a row as they lost 1-0 away to Sunderland. Leeds have had a total of eight blank score sheets.
We have four teams in replays, BRISTOL CITY drew1-1 away to DONCASTER to pick up their 47th goal while Doncaster are on 33. FULHAM drew 0-0 at home to WOLVES to pick up their 9th blank score sheet and have failed to score in their last three games. Wolves picked up blank number seven.

LEAGUE ONE
We had just one of our teams in action here over the weekend and they were COVENTRY. They won 2-0 away to Walsall after they failed to score in their previous two games. Coventry are now on a total of 28 goals.

LEAGUE TWO
Just two teams in action here as BURY lost 1-0 away to Dag & Redbridge to pick up their 7th blank of the season while STEVENAGE drew 0-0 away to Morecombe to pick up their 8th blank.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In Scotland we had four of our five teams in action over the weekend. RANGERS won 3-1 at home to Dumbarton and are now on 52 goals but drop out of our best team frame this weekend. HEARTS drew 1-1 at home to Hibs and picked up their 49th goal. DUNFERMLINE drew 1-1 at home to Peterhead and are now on 39 goals while STENHOUSEMUIR are on 28 as they lost 2-1 at home to Stirling.

THE BEST THREE TEAMS ARE…

MK DONS (62) DERBY (58) CHELSEA (54) Total of 174 goals.

THE WORST THREE TEAMS ARE…

QPR (22) ROTHERHAM (23) WIGAN (25) Total of 70 goals.

QPR are still our worst team this weekend as they have only picked up just one goal in their last three games played over last week. Rangers have played a total of 22 games and in that time they have picked up a total of nine blank score sheets.

ROTHERHAM have picked up the most number of  blank score sheets in our 32nd season.  After a total of 27 games played, Rotherham have picked up twenty-three goals and  had a total of 11 blank score sheets to date.

We have had two teams that have picked up the highest score this season. First MANCHESTER CITY won their Capital One Cup third round tie against Sheffield Wednesday 7-0 at home.  MK DONS won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the league.
We are still following Manchester City record breaking end of season score of 137 goals from last season, In Week twenty-two last season, City scored three goals in midweek and one goal at the weekend. Their goals tally has now risen to 68 goals after twenty-four games played. They have still had two blank score sheet’s and their highest score was seven goals against Norwich in the league.
This season they picked up three goals in midweek and at the weekend they picked up two. So City are now on a total of 53 goals this weekend. They have still had two blank score sheet after twenty-three games played. They are now 15 goals behind last seasons record run. They are away to Everton over the weekend.
