Week Three

Here we are with Week Three of the competition and this weekend we had a total of seven players that picked up the highest score of the season with 10 goals each. But under the competition rules we are only paying out for six players to share the cash this season which means that we will have our first Rollover next weekend for a fantastic sum of £12.
All of our high scorers had Celtic and Manchester City as part of their combinations but here is the list with their third teams. BRADLEY CLARK – Chelsea, SIMON DICKINSON – Portsmouth, PETER MURPHY – Charlton, ROBERT NETTING – Hibernian, MARK UNSTEAD – Plymouth, JULIA WOOD – Preston and TERRY WARWICK with Brighton.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Most of us managed to pick up some more midweek goals this week for our 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot of £80. We had two players that picked up the most number of goals with nine each. They were PETER PORTER and SCOTT THOMSON (1). Peter and Scott both collected their goals from Newcastle 4 and Peterborough 5 but Peter has Manchester City as his third team while Scott has Hibernian. But we do have a clear leader this week with JOHN FILTNESS picking up six goals from Brighton and Colchester three each with his third team Rangers. John moves out in front with 28 goals. Down to Second place is JAMIE WOOD on 25 goals. In Third place we have CHRIS SETFORD moving up from number four with 24 goals. In Fourth place all on 23 we have STEPTOE & SON who remains in the same position but he is now joined with LAURIE KING and KELLIE STRATTON. In joint fifth place all on 21 we have JACQUI WILLIAMS  down from two and ZIGGY down from four we also now have PETER GASPARELLI, MANGO and DAVID SMITHERS.

WEEKEND RESULTS
Following on from the midweek games, we had a good weekend for goals. We had just two teams with no game over the weekend with another fourteen teams that failed to score any goals. So our weekend average score moved up from four of last weekend to 6 goals this weekend. So if your teams picked up more than that, then you have done very well. The Highest score over the weekend came from the English League One where SCUNTHORPE beat GILLINGHAM 5-0 at home to pick up their highest score of the season. Scunthorpe are in their 8th Season with Golden Goals and they started with us back in the 2002/03 Season where they became our 98th voted English team and finished on their highest score to date of 76 goals. Scunthorpe have been in the last seven consecutive seasons where they finished on 66 goals last season. Over the years they have now netted a total of 459 goals which gives them an average end of season score of 57 goals per season. They have just one vote again this season. Gillingham after five games played picked up their first blank of the season.

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE

Our Best team is RANGERS scoring in all of their eight League and Cup games played with 20 goals.

Our worst teams are CARDIFF, DERBY, FALKIRK, KILMARNOCK, OLDHAM, PETERHEAD, PLYMOUTH,  and WALSALL this weekend. All eight teams have picked up a total of three blank score sheets each. We can add another two teams to our highest goal scorers in our 34th Season who are PETERBOROUGH who won 5-1 at home to Millwall in the league and SCUNTHORPE winning 5-0 at home against Gillingham in the league both from week three. Also CELTIC won 5-0 in the Scottish League Cup Second Round against Motherwell at home in week two, while RANGERS also get their highest score from the League Cup Second Round home tie against Peterhead 5-0.

ZIGGY (John Wood) becomes our second player to hit the top slot this season. Ziggy picked up a total of 10 goals this week with just two from midweek and the other eight at the weekend from his combination of Rangers, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir. With just a goal in front this week and with loads of games being played this week, this could all change again by the next sheet.
At the other end at 136 we still have SANDRA NICHOLLS, now in her second week by picking up just four goals for the week from Everton, Leicester City and Man Utd.

So Here is our top Ten for this weekend
