Week Ten

It’s Week Ten and we are half way through the first half of the season already. There has not been much football around for Golden Goals this week and that had been reflected in this weeks table. Just a single goal has moved players up a few places this week.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
There were no goals for us this week and so the race to the cash has remained the same as last weeks sheet.
DAVID SMITHERS leads the way with a total of 49 goals. In second place on 46 goals we still have CHRIS SETFORD. In third place is still MANGO on a total of 44 goals. In fourth place both on 43 goals we have TONY GUY (2) and TONY KING. In fifth place on 42 goals we still have PETER GASPARELLI. We have four players in sixth place and they are ANDY EYLES,  JOHN FILTNES, DARYL NICHOLLS and DOUG MORBEY. All are now on a total of 41 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS
Out of our fifty-four teams that we have in season 34, we had a total of thirty-eight teams that  had no game due to the Internationals that have been played all of last week. So there were No Scottish games at all and No English Premiership or Championship games. Out of the sixteen teams that did manage to play from the English Leagues one and two, four failed to net any goals for us.
The highest score over the weekend was three goals and we had two teams that picked them up. From League One we had PETERBOROUGH who won 3-1 at home against Bury. It’s been nine games since Borough had such a high score. They are now on a total of 25 goals. The other team was DONCASTER from League two. They won 3-2 at home to Barnet after being 2-0 up at half time. Doncaster have now extended their 100% goal scoring record this season to thirteen games and they are now on a total of 26 goals.

LEAGUE ONE
Not all of our teams here were in action over the weekend as some were cancelled due to International call-ups. We are now down to just three of the six top teams here with SCUNTHORPE still on top after they drew 1-1 at home to Northampton. The single goal now gives them a total of  30 goals. BRADFORD remained in second place as they won 2-0 at home to Shrewsbury to take their goals tally up to 15. PORT VALE have moved up to fourth place on 17 goals as they win 1-0 away to MK DONS. The Dons have now picked up their third blank of the season. OLDHAM won 2-1 away to GILLINGHAM  to give them a total of 9 goals this weekend while Gillingham hit goal number 23. SOUTHEND picked up their fifth blank of the season as they went down 3-0 away to Rochdale.

LEAGUE TWO
We still have four of the top seven teams here in this league this weekend with PLYMOUTH still top as they win 2-1 away to Stevenage. Plymouth are now on a total of 19 goals and have now scored in all of their last ten games. Doncaster remained in second place after their  win against Barnet. PORTSMOUTH have moved up to fourth place as they win 1-0 away to LEYTON ORIENT. Portsmouth are on 21 goals while Orient picked up their fifth blank score sheet and they have now failed to score in their last three games. LUTON drop down to fifth place now as they drew against 1-1 at home to Crewe. Luton have taken their goals tally to 24 goals. No goals again for COLCHESTER as they drew 0-0 at home to Newport. That was their fourth blank of the season and now two games in a row.  ACCRINGTON STANLEY are now on a total of 17 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to Cheltenham.

Our Best Three Teams Are

CELTIC (31) SCUNTHORPE (30) RANGERS (30) Total of 91 goals

Our Worst Three Teams Are

CARDIFF (8) DERBY (8) OLDHAM (9) Total of 25 goals

Our Best team is CELTIC after they have scored in all of their nine League and Cup games played and netting a total of 31 goals which still gives them an average score of three goals per game.

Our worst teams are still CARDIFF  and OLDHAM  this weekend as they all have picked up a total of eight blank score sheets each.

Our highest goal scorers in our 34th Season are CELTIC with their 6-1 home League win against Kilmarnock from week eight. NEWCASTLE winning 6-0 away to Q. P. R in the league in week seven and  NORWICH by winning 6-1 at home to Coventry in the EFL League Cup Second Round in week four.

GRANT PHILLIPS is now in his second week at the top even though he did not have any of  his teams in action over the week. His combination is Celtic, Newcastle  and Norwich. Grant has now picked up his second blank score sheet of the season.
At the other end at 136 we have EMMA SAWYER and like Grant at the other end of the table, Emma had none of here teams in action too. Emma Charlton,  Hibernian, and Leicester City. Emma has also now had two blank score sheets to date.
