Week Thirteen

It’s Week Thirteen and we have had our fifteenth winner of the season and it was won on a total of 12 goals which is our second highest score of season 34.  The £6 cash weekend jackpot went to JAMIE WOOD.
Jamie is in his second season with Golden Goals as he started with us last season where he finished in the winning frame in 12th place on a total of 278 goals picking up £15 in cash. This season Jamie has only kept Rangers from last seasons combination who are his best team to date. Jamie has had a total of two blank score sheets and this weekend his his personal best. His highest position to date is fourth place in week four. Jamie's teams for this season are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 
All but six of us managed to pick up some more goals for midweek but it did change the order for  the race to the cash. DAVID SMITHERS is still top again this week as he takes his midweek goals total to 60 goals. David has extended his lead to four goals. His teams are Chelsea, Newcastle and Rangers. Still in second place but now on 56 goals we have CHRIS SETFORD. In third place is still MANGO now on a total of 55 goals but he is now joined by TONY GUY (2) who moved up from four and GRANT PHILLIPS who comes flying in this week. In fourth place up from six last week we have DARYL NICHOLLS on a total of 54 goals. In fifth place now on 52 goals we still have PETER GASPARELLI but he is now joined with STEPTOE & SON. In sixth place this week we still have ANDY EYLES on a total of 51 goals while in seventh place all on 50 goals we have TONY KING down from three of last week and also we have JOHN DAVIES and IAN SMITH. 

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend the average score shot up from just three goals from last weekend to 6 goals this weekend and what a weekend we had for goals. Out of our fifty-four teams that we have in season 34, we had three teams that had no game over the weekend and another fourteen teams that failed to net any goals.
The highest score over the weekend was five goals and they came from the English Championship where BRIGHTON won 5-0 at home to NORWICH. Brighton have now taken their goals tally to 32 goals with their highest score of the season. They remain second in the league table. Norwich picked up their fourth blank of the season.
Brighton are our 73rd voted English team in the competition and they first appeared in the 1994/95 Season finishing on a total of 62 goals. Their highest score came in the 2000/01 Season with 82 goals. Last season they finished with a total of 75 goals. Brighton are in their 13th season with Golden Goals and over the years they have picked up a total of 839 goals which gives them an average score of 64 goals per season. They have a total of ten votes this season which is their best to date. 

PREMIERSHIP
We have the top six teams here with MANCHESTER CITY staying top on goal difference as they win 4-0 away to West Brom. After their disappointed result in the cup in midweek, City are now on a total of 26 goals. ARSENAL remained in second place after they won 4-1 away to Sunderland to take their goals tally to 29. LIVERPOOL are still in third place as they win 4-2 away to Crystal Palace. Liverpool are now on 34 goals and all of the top three teams are now on 23 points. CHELSEA are in fourth place after they won 2-0 away to SOUTHAMPTON. Chelsea are now on 29 goals and they have netted a total of ten goals in their last four games. Southampton picked up their third blank of the season. TOTTENHAM are still in fifth place as they drew 1-1 against LEICESTER CITY. Tottenham are now on a total of 20 goals while Leicester hit goal number 14. EVERTON are in sixth place after they won 2-0 at home against WEST HAM. Everton are on 19 goals while West Ham picked up their second blank of the season. BOURNEMOUTH have now picked up their fourth blank score sheet and now two in a row as they went down 2-0 away to Middlesbrough. MANCHESTER UNITED have fallen down to eighth place as they drew 0-0 at home to Burnley. That was United’s third blank of the season and now just one goal in their last four games. 

CHAMPIONSHIP
NEWCASTLE have remained top here again after they beat PRESTON again twice in a week with a 2-1 away win. Newcastle are now on a total of 42 goals with 13 coming from their last four games. Preston hit goal number 25. BRIGHTON are now in second place after their big win against NORWICH who have remained in fourth place. WOLVES picked up their 21st goal of the season after a tow game dry spell as they drew 1-1 away to Blackburn after going a goal down. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY lost 2-0 away to DERBY and that was their third blank score sheet while Derby after a two game dry spell for goals are now on 11 goals. CARDIFF picked up their ninth blank as they lost 1-0 at home to Wigan. ASTON VILLA are on 16 goals as they drew 1-1 away to Birmingham while it’s 22 goals for LEEDS as they win 2-0 at home to Burton. 

LEAGUE ONE
We now have three of the six top teams here with SCUNTHORPE still on top after they win 4-1 at home to Swindon. Scunthorpe are now on a total of 39 goals. BRADFORD have moved down to third place after they won 3-2 away to AFC Wimbledon. Bradford are now on a total of 22 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED are in fourth place as they beat MK DONS 2-1 at home. United are on 27 goals and they have now scored on all of their last twelve games. MK Dons are now on 25 goals.BRISTOL ROVERS lost 2-1 at home to PETERBOROUGH to pick up their 27th goal while Borough are now on 30 goals. It’s 21 goals for PORT VALE but they lost 3-1 away to Bolton. CHARLTON won 1-0 at home against Chesterfield and that was their 18th goal of the season. GILLINGHAM who are now on 27 goals lost 2-1 away to Fleetwood. It’s 30 goals for MILLWALL as they win 2-1 away to Oxford. OLDHAM who are now third from bottom, lost 1-0 away to Rochdale and that is their eleventh blank of the season and now two in a row.  SOUTHEND drew 1-1 at home to Shrewsbury and that was goal number 19 while WALSALL are on 20 as they drew 1-1 at home to Coventry. 

LEAGUE TWO
We are now down to just four teams of the top seven here in this league this weekend with PLYMOUTH still top as they win 2-1 at home to COLCHESTER. Plymouth are now on a total of 26 goals and they have now scored in all of their last thirteen games while Colchester are on 19. DONCASTER are still in third place as they drew 2-2 at home against Wycombe. Doncaster are now on a tally of 31 goals after sixteen games played. They are now our only English team with a 100% scoring record. LUTON remained in fourth place after they drew 0-0 away to Notts County.  Luton have now had three blank score sheets. PORTSMOUTH are still in fifth place as they win 1-0 away to Cambridge.  Portsmouth are on 25 goals. ACCRINGTON STANLEY lost 2-1 at home to Newport to pick up their 20th goal of the season. LEYTON ORIENT picked up their sixth blank of the season after they lost 2-0 at home to Crewe. YEOVIL drew 0-0 at home to Grimsby and that is their sixth blank of the season. 

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Scottish Premiership CELTIC remained top as they win again 1-0 away to ABERDEEN. Celtic are our only other team to have a 100% scoring record and they are now on a total of 39 goals. RANGERS have moved up to second place after they win 3-0 at home to KILMARNOCK.  Rangers are now on a total of 35 goals while Kilmarnock picked up their fifth blank of the season. St JOHNSTONE are now in fifth place as they lost 2-1 at home to Partick to pick up their 29th goal.
In the Championship it’s now 19 goals for HIBERNIAN as they win 2-0 at home to St Mirren to remain top. FALKIRK lost 1-0 away to Dundee United to pick up their fourth blank of the season.
In the lower leagues, PETERHEAD won 2-0 at home to Stranraer and that puts them on a total of 22 goals while STENHOUSEMUIR picked up their biggest score of the season with a 3-0 away win over Queens Park to take their goals total to 16 but they remain bottom of the league.

Our Best team on form is CELTIC after they have scored in all of their thirteen League and Cup games played and netting a total of 39 goals which still gives them an average score of three goals per game.

Our worst teams is  OLDHAM  this weekend as they have picked up a total of eleven blank score sheets out of eighteen games played.

Our highest goal scorers in our 34th Season are BOURNEMOUTH  after their 6-1 home win against Hull in the league in week eleven.  CELTIC with their 6-1 home League win against Kilmarnock from week eight. NEWCASTLE winning  6-0 away to Q. P. R in the league in week seven and 6-1 away to Preston in the EFL League Cup Fourth Round in week thirteen.  NORWICH by winning 6-1 at home to Coventry in the EFL League Cup Second Round in week four. 

GRANT PHILLIPS is now in his fifth weekend at the top as his combination of teams picked him up a total of 15 goals for the week. Twelve came from midweek and the other three from the weekend. They came from Celtic one, Newcastle two and Norwich who failed to score in their game. Even after picking up 15 goals Grant’s lead has been cut down to just two goals clear of Daniel Goodson who has remained  in second place as he picks up a total of 19 goals from his combination of Celtic, Liverpool and Newcastle. 
At the other end at 136 we still have KATHY SOMERVILLE and she has now been there for a total of five weeks. Kathy picked up just two goals this week with just one goal coming at the weekend from Tottenham. Her other teams are Oldham and Yeovil and they both failed to net any goals at the weekend.
