Week Twenty-Two

It’s Week Twenty-two of Season 34 and we had our Christmas Jackpot and a double Rollover for £32 this weekend.
The cash was shared between three players who won on a score of 8 goals and they are  BARABRA BARNES (2), PHIL REEVE and JOHN WOOD. Each of the three winners will pick up a total of £10 and 66 pence each. Two of the winners are with their first win of the season and we are now up to a total of twenty-six while our third picks up his second.
Barabra started with Golden Goals way back in our 200/01 Season where she finished in 85th place out of 102 with a total of 232 goals. But she has been running two combinations for quite a while now. Last season Barbara finished in 38th place with her second combination on 260 goals while her first combination finished in 105th place with a total of 225 goals. This season Barbara becomes our fifth lady winner this season and with her second combination, she has picked up three blank score sheets and this is her highest with this one. Phil was has been Champion twice in his long career with us. He first became Champion in 1987/88 Season with 302 goals and then again in the 2011/12 Season with 308 goals. Last season he finished in 108th place on 222 goals. This season he has picked up a total of three blank score sheets and this is his highest position to date. John started with us in the 1997/98 Season where he finished in 87th place on 209 goals. Last season John finished in 65th place with 249 goals. This season John is at his highest to date and he has also picked up three blank score sheets.Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
All of us managed to pick up some more goals this week which include’s the Boxing Day results. The highest score that we had was 11 goals and they all went to COLIN WEBB. They came from Liverpool and Tottenham four goals each with Manchester City picking up three. So once again this week we see a bit of a change in the race for the cash this weekend as DARYL NICHOLLS is still in the lead with a total of 79 goals. In second place up from four of last week we have DANIEL GOODSON on 75 goals. In joint third place all on 74 goals we have GRANT PHILLIPS down from second place with CHRIS SETFORD moving up from fourth place but we still have MANGO and DAVID SMITHERS remaining there. In fourth place up from six is MALCOLM CORMACK on 71 goals while still in fifth place on 70 goals we have STEPTOE & SON while STALKY (2) comes back in.
The good news this weekend is that we now have a total of fifty-seven players that are now over the 50 goals mark.

WEEKEND RESULTS
We had Forty of our teams in action over the weekend and these games were played over New Years eve and New Years Day. Out of them nine failed to score any goals and so the first weekend average score for 2017 was just 3 goals. The highest score over the weekend was just as the Boxing day results with four goals and we had three teams that picked that total up.
In the English Premiership it was TOTTENHAM once again as they won 4-1 away to Watford. With eight goals over the week, Tottenham have now taken their goals tally to 43. CHELSEA was another Prem team to hit four goals as they win 4-2 at home to STOKE. Chelsea are now on 50 goals while Stoke are on 27. Our third team to hit four goals was COLCHESTER from the English League Two. They won 4-2 away to Stevenage and that took their goals total to 35. 

PREMIERSHIP
Chelsea have remained top here over the busy Christmas and New Year period with LIVERPOOL right behind as they beat MANCHESTER CITY in fifth place 1-0 at home. Liverpool are now on 58 goals while City picked up their third blank of the season. ARSENAL are in third place as they win 2-0 at home to Crystal Palace. Arsenal bring their goals total up to 47. MANCHESTER UNITED are in sixth place after they get two late goals against Middlesbrough in their 2-1 home win. United are now on 37 goals. It’s 30 goals for BOURNEMOUTH as they win 3-0 away to Swansea while LEICESTER CITY beat WEST HAM 1-0 to give them their 26th goal of the season while West Ham picked up their third blank of the season. SOUTHAMPTON picked up their 24th goal as they lost 2-1 at home to West Brom.

CHAMPIONSHIP
Newcastle remained top here after they had no game over the New Year weekend with Brighton in second place also with no game. Leeds United are in fifth place and they also had no game but SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are in sixth place after they drew 1-1 away to PRESTON. Wednesdy are now on 29 goals while Preston hit goal number 38. BRENTFORD drew 0-0 at home to NORWICH to pick up their ninth blank of the season while Norwich picked up their sixth. DERBY picked up their tenth blank score sheet after they drew 0-0 at home to Wigan. WOLVES lost 2-1 at home to QUEENS PARK RANGERS to get them their 36th goal while Rangers are now on 27 after a four game drought for goals.

LEAGUE ONE
We have five of the top seven teams here with SHEFFIELD UNITED going top after they won 1-0 at home to Northampton. United are now on 52 goals. Down to third place is SCUNTHORPE who lost 2-1 away to Bolton. Scunthorpe picked up goal number 51. BRADFORD are in fifth place after they drew 1-1 at home to Bury. Badford are now on 30 goals. SOUTHEND are in sixth place as they drew 1-1 at home to CHARLTON. Southend are on 36 goals while Charlton are now on 33. BRISTOL ROVERS are now on 48 goals after they won 2-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon. OLDHAM picked up their sixteenth blank of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Fleetwood and that now means three games without a single goal. WALSALL drew 0-0 away to Oxford and that was their eighth blank of the season. PETERBOROUGH are on 47 after they drew 1-1 at home to Coventry.

LEAGUE TWO
We have four of the top seven here with PLYMOUTH going back on top after their 2-0 home win against Crawley. Plymouth take their goals tally to 40. DONCASTER are in third place as they drew1-1n away to Mansfield. That was their 47th goal of the season. Portsmouth are in fourth place with LUTON in fifth place after they won 3-1 at home to Barnet. Luton are now on 46 goals. After a run for three games with out a goal, ACCRINGTON won 1-0 away to Crewe to pick up their 27th goal of the season. It’s 28 for LEYTON ORIENT as they drew 1-1 at home against Cambridge United.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Scottish Premiership CELTIC remained top after they beat their rivals RANGERS 2-1 at away. Celtic now go nineteen points clear of rivals Rangers and they have kept their 100% goal run after all twenty-four games and they are now on a total of 65 goals. Rangers goal now gives them a total of 48 goals. St JOHNSTONE picked up their fifth blank of the season as they lost 3-0 away to Dundee. KILMARNOCK drew 0-0 away to Partick and that was their eleventh blank and now just one goal in their last five games.
In the Championship HIBEERNIAN are back in first place as they win 2-1 away to FALKIRK in fourth place. Hibs are now on 33 goals while Falkirk hit goal number 30. In the lower leagues STENHOUSEMUIR remain rooted to the bottom of League one after they lost 4-2 at home to Alloa. Stenhousemuir are on 33 goals. 

Our Best Three Teams Are

Our Worst Three Teams Are

OLDHAM (18) KILMARNOCK (21) SOUTHAMPTON (24) Total of 63 goals

Our Best team on form is still CELTIC after they have scored in all of their twenty-four League and Cup games played and netting a total of 65 goals which still gives them an average score of two goals per game.

Our worst teams is  OLDHAM  this weekend as they have picked up a total of sixteen blank score sheets out of twenty-seven games played.

Our highest goal scorers in our 34th Season are  LUTON after they won 6-2 at home to non-league Solihull Moors in the FA CUP 2nd Round in week eighteen. LIVERPOOL winning 6-1 at home against Watford in the league in week fourteen and SHEFFIELD UNITED winning 6-0 at home to LEYTON ORIENT in the 1st Round of the FA Cup also in week fourteen. BOURNEMOUTH  after their 6-1 home win against Hull in the league in week eleven.  CELTIC with their 6-1 home League win against Kilmarnock from week eight. NEWCASTLE winning 6-0 away to Q. P. R in the league in week seven and 6-1 away to Preston in the EFL League Cup 4th Round in week thirteen.  NORWICH by winning 6-1 at home to Coventry in the EFL League Cup 2nd Round in week four.

DANIEL GOODSON is now in his ninth weekend in a row at the top and now ten weeks over the season. His combination picked him up a total of twelve goals over the week with nine coming from midweek and the other three at the weekend. They came from Celtic 2 and Liverpool 1. Newcastle had no game over the weekend. Dan has again extended his lead to six goals from June Tighe as she remains in second place after picking up a total of ten goals for the week. June’s teams are once again Celtic, Newcastle and Sheffield United.

At the other end at 136 we now have back KATHY SOMERVILLE as her combination picked her up a total of eight goals over the whole week. Kathy is now in her seventh weekend at the bottom over the season. Kathy’s teams are Oldham, Tottenham and Yeovil but she is still just one goal behind Sandra Nicholls in 135th place.
