Carabao Cup Fourth Round

BOURNEMOUTH are through to the quarter-finals as they beat Norwich 2-1 at home. Bournemouth are now on a total of 27 goals. BURTON ALBION are also through as they beat NOTTINGHAM FOREST 3-2 at home. Burton are also now on a total of 27 goals while Forest take their goals tally up to 31 and they have now scored in all of their last ten games.

In the English League Two, MANSFIELD won 3-0 away to Crewe and that now gives them a total of 28 goals.

In the Scottish Championship, AYR UNITED won 3-0 at home to ALLOA to take their goals total to 38 goals while Alloa picked up their eighth blank score sheet of the season and now two in a row.  After a three game dry spell for goals, FALKIRK are now on a total of 10 goals after they drew 1-1 at home to ROSS COUNTY who are now on 30 goals.

City Back On Top

MANCHESTER CITY are back on top of the English Premiership on goal difference, as they beat TOTTENHAM 1-0 with the goal being scored in just six minutes of play by Mahrez. City have taken their goals tally to 30 while Tottenham after a goal run of ten games, picked up their first blank of the season.

Week Thirteen

In Week Thirteen of the competition, we had our eleventh winner of the season winning on a score of 11 goals. Our winner is DOUG MORBEY who become only the second player this season to pick up the full £6 weekend jackpot.
Doug has been with Golden Goals for a very long time now, in fact a total of twenty-eight years as he started playing in the 1990/91 Season. In that season, Doug finished in 33rd place on a total of 231 goals. The last time that he finished in the winning frame was back in the 2013/14 season in 18th place with 309 goals. Doug picked up a total of £11 including two weekend wins. Last season he finished in 53rd place on a total of 280 goals. This season, Doug has been as high as 32nd place in Week Two, and he has picked up a total of two blank score sheets at the weekend. 100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
At last we get some midweek games and loads of goals. We had four players that picked up the highest amount of goals with seven each. They are RAY BUCKLAND, JOHN NICHOLLS, SCOTT THOMSON (2) and JACQUI WILLIAMS. So the race for the cash has changed just a bit from last week.
GRAHAM HARRIS is still out in front now with a total of 37 goals. He has Hearts, Tottenham and West Brom. In second place and ten goals behind Graham we have RYAN WILLIAMS who  moves up from third place with 27 goals. Straight in at number three we have JACQUI WILLIAMS with 26 goals. In joint fourth place all on 25 goals we still have JUNE TIGHE but she is now joined with TERRY WARWICK down from second place, MARTIN CORBETT up from fifth place and straight in we have SCOTT THOMSON (2). In joint fifth place all on 24 goals we have CLIFF BAMBRIDGE who has remained there and JOHN DAVIES down from three.

WEEKEND RESULTS
We had another good weekend for goals despite the weekends average score fell from seven goals last weekend to 5 this weekend. We had four of our teams without a game over the weekend and another thirteen teams that failed to score any goals.
The highest score that we had was again five goals and they came from the Scottish Championship, ROSS COUNTY. They won 5-0 at home to Morton taking their goals tally to 29 goals. Ross County are in their seventh season with Golden Goals and they were our 15th voted Scottish team to play in the competition. They first started in our 1994/95 Season and finished on a total of 66 goals. Their highest score came in the 1998/99 Season with a total of 101 goals. The last time that County played in the competition was back in the 2006/07 Season with a total of 45 goals. Over the season’s they have netted a total of 410 goals which gives them an average score of 58 goals per season. they have just one vote this season.

PREMIERSHIP
LIVERPOOL have gone top of the table and two points clear as they win 4-1 at home to Cardiff. Liverpool are now on a total of 21 goals. CHELSEA are up to second place after they won 4-0 away to Burnley and that now gives them a total of 26 goals. Manchester City are down to third place as they had now game over the weekend. ARSENAL are in fourth place as they drew 2-2 away to Crystal Palace. Arsenal are now on 27 goals and they have extended their goal run to ten games. WOLVES lost 1-0 away to Brighton and that is their fourth blank score sheet and now two in a row. BOURNEMOUTH are now on a total of 25 goals as they win 3-0 away to FULHAM who picked up their fourth blank of the season. After a two game dry spell for goals, WEST HAM drew 1-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY. Both teams are on 20 goals each. MANCHESTER UNITED won 2-1 at home to EVERTON and they are now on a total of 19 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eight games. Everton hit goal number 20.

CHAMPIONSHIP
This is the all changing league as Sheffield United go top this weekend. LEEDS UNITED have moved up to second place after they drew 1-1 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST. Leeds are on 28 goals and have scored in all of their last nine games. Forest are on a total of 29 goals. WEST BROM have now down to fifth place after they drew 1-1 at home to BLACKBURN. West Brom are on 36 while Blackburn picked up goal number 29. BIRMINGHAM won 3-1at home to Sheffield Wednesday and that now gives them a total of 19 goals. HULL won 1-0 away to Bolton and they are now on a total of 13 goals. STOKE won 1-0 away to Bristol City to pick up goal number 23. It’s 30 for DERBY after they drew 1-1 away to Middlesbrough. IPSWICH lost 3-0 away to Millwall and that is their eighth blank score sheet of the season and now three in a row. BRENTFORD picked up their third blank score sheet after they lost 1-0 away to Norwich. ROTHERHAM drew 1-1 away to Preston and they are now on a total of 15 goals. SWANSEA won 2-0 at home to Reading and that takes their goal tally up to 17 goals.

LEAGUE ONE
We have the top seven teams in this league with PORTSMOUTH still on top this weekend and now two points clear after they drew 1-1 away to ACCRINGTON STANLEY. Portsmouth are now on a total of 28 goals while Accrington are on 21. Behind them is PETERBOROUGH in second place as they win 2-1 away to BURTON ALBION. Brorough are now on 33 goals to Burton’s 24. It’s 30 goals for SUNDERLAND in third place after they won 3-0 at home to SOUTHEND. Southend picked up their fourth blank of the season. Fourth is BARNSLEY who won 1-0 at home to BRISTOL ROVERS. Barnsley picked up goal number 29 while Rovers picked up their ninth blank of the season and now just two goals in their last seven games. LUTON won 2-0 away to AFC Wimbledon and they are now on 27 goals. COVENTRY won 2-1 at home against Doncaster and they are now on 19 goals. SHREWSBURY lost 3-0 away to Oxford Utd to pick up their seventh blank of the season. ROCHDALE won 1-0 at home to CHARLTON to take their goals total to 25 while Charlton picked up their fourth blank of the season. PLYMOUTH picked up their biggest result of the season by beating SCUNTHORPE 4-1 away. Plymouth are now on a total of 21 goals while Scunthorpe are on 24. WYCOMBE lost 3-2 away to Walsall and they are now on a total of 28 goals.

LEAGUE TWO
We have the top three here with LINCOLN CITY still top this weekend even though they lost 1-0 away to Colchester. Lincoln picked up their third blank of the season. MK DONS are now in second place as they drew 1-1 away to MANSFIELD. The Dons are now on 23 goals and extend their goal run to eleven games. Mansfield picked up goal number 25. EXETER are down to third place after they lost 2-1 at home to Forest Green. Exeter are now on a total of 27 goals.
OLDHAM lost 2-1 away to Northampton and they are now on 19 goals. SWINDON won 2-1 away to NOTTS COUNTY and they have taken their goals total to 19 goals after a three game dry spell for goals. County are on 21.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Betfred Cup Semi-Finals, we had all four teams. Celtic are through to the finals after they won 3-0 away to league leaders HEARTS. Celtic are now on a total of 24 goals. Hearts picked up their second blank of the season. ABERDEEN will be playing Celtic after they beat RANGERS 1-0 at home. Aberdeen hit goal number 15 while Rangers picked up their third blank score sheet.
In the Premiership, HAMILTON drew 1-1 away to Kilmarnock and that is their 13th goal of the season.
In the Championship, Ross County are still top after their big win with  AYR UNITED in second place as they won 1-0 away to Partick. Ayr are on 35 goals. ALLOA picked up their seventh blank score sheet after they drew 0-0 at home to  Inverness CT. FALKIRK are still bottom of the league,after they  lost 2-0 away to Queen of South to pick up their ninth blank of the season and now three in a row.
In League One, RAITH ROVERS lost 3-2 away to Forfar which takes their goals total to 27 and they have now scored in all of their last eleven games. STENHOUSEMUIR are on 14 goals as they win 1-0 away to Airdrie. DUMBARTON picked up their highest score of the season by winning 4-0 at home to East Fife.
In League Two, PETERHEAD are in second place as they win 3-1 away to Clyde. Peterhead are now on a total of 25 goals and they have scored three goals in each of their last four games.

Our Best teams this week are TOTTENHAM after they have scored in all of their ten League and Cup games to keep their 100% scoring record going. They have a total of 18 goals.

Our worst team is BRISTOL ROVERS this weekend as they have picked up a total of nine blank score sheets out of eighteen league and cup games played this season. They have scored just two goals in their last seven games.

Our biggest result in our 36th Season are now WEST HAM UNITED who won 8-0 at home against Macclesfield in the Carabao/League Cup Third Round in Week Nine. West Brom has the second highest score with a 7-1 home win against Queens Park Rangers in their fourth league game of the season in Week Three.  

GARY BROWN  has  remained  top this weekend, after  he picked up a total of  five goals with four of them coming from the weekend. This is now his fifth weekend at the top this season and now two in a row. His teams are once again Ayr United, Manchester City and Sunderland. Graham Harris is still in second place as he only picked up a total of five goals with just one at the weekend. His teams are Hearts, Tottenham and West Brom. There is still three goals between them.
At the other end at 133 we have John Filtness at the bottom for his fourth consecutive weekend as he picks up a total of ten goals from his combination for the week. He has now had seven weeks at the bottom and he is now just two goals adrift. His teams are  Birmingham, Hamilton and Liverpool.

Villa Failed To Win Again


In the English Championship, ASTON VILLA lost their second game in a week but failed to score any goals in this game. They lost 1-0 away to Queens Park Rangers to end their goal run of nine games and to pick up their second blank score sheet of the season.

Leeds United Top For Now

We had more of our teams in action last night and they were all from the English Championship. LEEDS UNITED go top of the table on goal difference as they beat bottom of the table IPSWICH 2-0 at home. Leeds take their goals tally to 27 while Ipswich picked up their seventh blank and now two games in a row without a goal. DERBY picked up the highest score of the night as they win 4-1 away to WEST BROM. Derby have taken their goals total up to 29 while West Brom picked up goal number 35. NOTTINGHAM FOREST have extended their goal run to eight games after they won 3-0 away to Bolton. They are now on a total of 28 goals. HULL have picked up their seventh blank score sheet of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Bristol City. Hull have now scored just two goals in their last six games. BRENTFORD lost 4-3 away to Preston and they are now on a total of 29 goals.

Midweek Games At last

At last we have had some midweek games to get our teeth into and here at Golden Goals as our teams did very well last night.
In the English Championship, BIRMINGHAM won 2-1 at home to Reading to take their goals total to 16. ROTHERHAM drew 0-0 away to top of the table Middlesbrough and that is their sixth blank score sheet of the season. ASTON VILLA lost 2-1 away to Millwall and that is their 23rd goal of the season and they have now scored in all of their last nine games. STOKE are now on a total of 22 goals as they drew 1-1 away to Sheffield Utd. SWANSEA won 3-1 at home to BLACKBURN to give their goals tally a boost to 15 goals while Blackburn picked up goal number 28.
In League One, SCUNTHORPE picked up their fifth blank score sheet of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Blackpool. COVENTRY picked up their biggest result of the season after they won 4-2 away to Bradford. They are now on a total of 17 goals. After a five game drought for goals, BRISTOL ROVERS won 2-0 at home against AFC Wimbledon. Rovers are now on a total of 14 goals. CHARLTON drew 1-1 at home to Oxford Utd and that is their 22nd goal of the season. SUNDERLAND have extended their goal run to twelve games as they win 1-0 away to Doncaster to take their goals tally up to 27. LUTON picked up their biggest result of the season as they win 4-1 at home to ACCRINGTON STANLEY. Luton are now on a total of 25 goals while Accrington hit goal number 20. PETERBOROUGH are now on 31 goals as they win 1-0 at home against Fleetwood. PLYMOUTH won 3-1 at home to Gillingham and with their biggest result of the season they are now on a total of 17 goals. PORTSMOUTH drew 2-2 at home to BURTON ALBION and they are now on 27 goals to Burtons 23. SHREWSBURY are now on 15 goals as they win 3-1 at home to BARNSLEY who are now on 28 goals. That is Shrewsbury’s biggest result to date. SOUTHEND won 3-0 at home to Walsall and they are now on 23 goals while WYCOMBE won 3-0 at home to ROCHDALE. Wycombe take their goals tally to 26 while Rochdale picked up their third blank of the season.
In League Two, EXETER drew 1-1 away to Crawley and that is goal number 26 for them. It’s 35 goals for LINCOLN CITY as they drew 2-2 at home to Carlisle.  MK DONS won 2-1 at home to NOTTS COUNTY and they are now on a total of 22 goals while County hit goal number 20. MANSFIELD won 1-0 away to Morecombe and that is their 24th goal of the season. OLDHAM won 2-0 at home to Cheltenham and they are now on 18 goals while SWINDON picked up their six blank of the season and now three games in a row as they lost 2-0 at home to Cambridge Utd.

Just one result for our Scottish teams in the Premiership, HEARTS won 3-0 away to Dundee to take their goals tally up to 37 goals.

Arsenal On The Up

In the English Premiership, ARSENAL went a goal down against LEICESTER CITY only to come back to win 3-1 at home. The three goals gives Arsenal a total of 25 goals and they have now scored in all of their nine games played. Arsenal have moved above Tottenham to fourth place on goal difference in the league. Leicester are now on a total of 19 goals.

Week Twelve

In Week Twelve of the competition, we had yet another £12 Rollover this season and we had a total of three players that shared the cash giving them a total of £4 in winnings each. Two are first time winners this season which brings our winners total up to ten and the other one is our first player to win twice this season.  On a score of 12 goals and with their personal best for this season the winners are CHRIS BOOM, JAMES HUNTER and TIM WOOD.
Chris is in his eleventh season with Golden Goals and he first appeared here is our 2008/09 Season on where he finished in 31st place on a total of 262 goals. Last season he finished in the winning frame in second place with  a total of 333 goals just one goal behind our Champion Chris Bolbery. He also picked up two weekend wins winning a total of £84 in cash. This season he has picked up two blank score sheets at the weekends and 30th is his highest position to date. His best team is Manchester City.
Although James started with the competition in the 1996/97 Season he was with us for a straight eleven seasons until the 2006/07 Season, where he had a break, but he came back again in the 2013/14 Season. James finished in 47th place on a total of 283 goals last season and in the previous season, our 33rd, James finished in the winning frame in 29th place on a total of 267 goals winning just £4 in cash. This season he has picked up just one blank score sheet at the weekend and this weekend we see James at his highest. His best team is also Manchester City.
Tim has won for the second time and he first won some cash from a double rollover in Week Seven and picked up all the full amount of cash of £18. Since his big win, Tim has remained in the winning frame and this is his best to date. Like the other two Manchester City is his best team. He has now had two blank score sheets at the weekends. What a fantastic weekend we had for goals this weekend with most of our teams back in action.  The weekends average score has restarted back at 7 goals. We had just two of our teams without a game over the weekend and another eighteen teams that failed to score any goals.

PREMIERSHIP
Manchester City have remained top on goal difference with LIVERPOOL who won 1-0 away to Huddersfield to pick up goal number 17. CHELSEA are in third place after they drew 2-2 at home to MANCHESTER UNITED. Chelsea are just two points behind City and Liverpool and the goals now take their goals tally up to 22. United are now on 17 goals and they have scored in all of their last seven games. TOTTENHAM are in fourth place after they beat London rivals WEST HAM 1-0 away. Tottenham are now on 18 goals while West Ham picked up their fifth blank and now two in a row. BOURNEMOUTH picked up their third blank score sheet after they drew 0-0 at home to Southampton. FULHAM are on 16 goals as they lost 4-2 away to Cardiff. WOLVES lost 2-0 at home to Watford and that is their third blank of the season. EVERTON won 2-0 at home to Crystal Palace and are now on 19 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP
Well it’s all change here as Middlesbrough go top. WEST BROM are now down to third place behind Sheffield United after they lost 1-0 at home to Wigan. That is their third blank of the season. LEEDS UNITED are down to fourth place after they lost 2-1 away to BLACKBURN. Leeds are now on 25 goals with five goals in five games while Blackburn take their goals total  up to 27. ASTON VILLA won 1-0 at home to SWANSEA and they are now on 22 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eight games. Swansea picked up their eighth blank score sheet. BRENTFORD after a goal run of nine games, picked up their second blank of the season after they lost 1-0 at home to Bristol City. DERBY won 2-1 at home to Sheffield United and they are now on a total of 25 goals. After a dry spell of two games, HULL are now on 12 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to Preston. IPSWICH lost 2-0 at home to Queens Park Rangers and that is their sixth blank score sheet of the season. NOTTINGHAM FOREST were a goal up but lost 2-1 at home to Norwich to pick up goal number 25. ROTHERHAM are now on 14 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to Bolton. Behind them is PETERBOROUGH in second place as they lost 1-0 at home to ACCRINGTON STANLEY. Borough have now had a total of three blank score sheets and now just three goals in their last three games. Accrington are now on 19 goals and in fourth place. SUNDERLAND are now in third place after they won 2-0 away to SHREWSBURY. Sunderland are now on 26 goals and have now scored in all of their last eleven games. Shrewsbury picked up their sixth blank of the season. ROCHDALE are now on 24 goals as they win 2-0 away to Bradford. BRISTOL ROVERS are in trouble this weekend as they drew 0-0 at home to Oxford Utd to pick up their eighth blank score sheet and now five games with out a goal. MK DONS are now in third place after they won 1-0 at home to Northampton and that is their 20th goal of the season. NOTTS COUNTY lost 4-0 away to Bury and that is their fourth blank score sheet.  OLDHAM picked up their sixth blank score sheet and now just one goal in their last four games as they lost 1-0 at home to Port Vale. SWINDON drew 0-0 at home to MANSFIELD and that is their fifth blank of the season and just one goal in their last five games, while Mansfield picked up blank number three.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
It’s been a good weekend for our Scottish teams this weekend. In the WILLIAMS HILL CUP second round, PETERHEAD are through to the next round after they won 3-2 at home to non-league Kelty Hearts. Peterhead are now on a total of 22 goals with nine goals in their last three games.
In the Premiership, HEARTS won 2-1 at home to ABERDEEN. Hearts are now on 34 goals while Aberdeen picked up goal number 14. CELTIC are now in second place and three points behind Hearts as they win 4-2 at home to HIBERNIAN. Celtic are now on a total of 21 goals to Hibs 24.  RANGERS have moved up to fifth place after they won 4-1 away to HAMILTON. Rangers are on 29 goals while Hamilton picked up goal number 12.
In the Championship, ROSS COUNTY are top as they won 2-1 at home to AYR UNITED. County are now on 24 goals while Ayr are on 34 and in second place. ALLOA are on 15 goals as they win 1-0 at home to Partick while FALKIRK still bottom of the league, lost 1-0 away to Morton to pick up their eighth blank of the season.

Week Eleven

In Week Eleven of the competition, we did not have many of our teams in action over the week. All of the teams that did manage to play only twenty-eight of you picked up some goals. It was our 1997/98 Champion MIKE HARRINGTON that picked up the most number of goals all coming from just one of his teams, Lincoln City with six goals. Next weekend we will have our fourth Rollover (including one double Rollover) of the season, this will be our third jackpot worth £12.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
There were no midweek games this week so no goals for any of us this week and the race for the cash has remained the same as last week.
GRAHAM HARRIS is out in front with a total of 33 goals. He has Hearts, Tottenham and West Brom. In second place and ten goals behind Graham we have TERRY WARWICK with 23 goals. In joint third place we have JOHN DAVIES,  RYAN WILLIAMS with 22 goals each. In joint fourth place all on 21 goals we have  JAMES BLYTH, GARY BROWN and JUNE TIGHE. In joint fifth place all on 20 goals we have CLIFF BAMBRIDGE, MARTIN CORBETT and MANDY WRIGHT.

WEEKEND RESULTS
A very quite weekend for goals this weekend due to all the International games being played. We had a total of forty-five of our teams were without a game over the weekend and another five teams failed to score any goals. The highest score that we had was six goals  and they all came from the English League Two, where LINCOLN CITY picked up their highest result of the season by winning 6-2 away to Port Vale. Lincoln are now on a total of 32 goals.
Lincoln City became our 70th voted team to play in Golden Goals and their first season was back in the 1988/89 Season finishing on a total of 71 goals. This is there sixth season with us and their highest amount of goals in a season was 78 in the 2005/06 Season. Last season they finished on a total of 66 goals. Over the six seasons, they have netted a total of 380 goals which gives them an average score of 63 goals per season to date. They have picked up just two blank score sheets this season and they have just one vote.

LEAGUE ONE
PORTSMOUTH are still on top after they won 2-1 away to AFC Wimbledon. Portsmouth are now on a total of 24 goals and they are three points in front of Peterborough. PETERBOROUGH are still in second place as they win 2-0 away to SCUNTHORPE. Borough have taken their goals total up to 30 while Scunthorpe pick up their fourth blank score sheet of the season. BARNSLEY have remained in third place and have taken their goals total to 24 as they win 3-2 at home to LUTON. Luton are now on a total of 19 goals. BRISTOL ROVERS have picked up their seventh blank of the season after they lost 1-0 away to BURTON ALBION. Rovers have now failed to score in their last four games. Burton are now on 18 goals. ACCRINGTON STANLEY won 3-1 at home against Bradford and they are now on a total of 18 goals. COVENTRY won 1-0 at home to WYCOMBE to pick up their 11th goal of the season. Wycombe picked up their fourth blank score sheet. SHREWSBURY are now on a total of 12 goals but they lost 2-1 away to Fleetwood Town. SOUTHEND won 2-0 away to Gillingham and they are now on a total of 19 goals. ROCHDALE lost 3-2 at home to Doncaster. Rochdale have taken their goals tally up to 22. PLYMOUTH are back down to the bottom of the league after they lost their eighth league game, 2-0 away to Oxford Utd. Plymouth have now had five blank score sheets.

LEAGUE TWO
Lincoln City are still top here this weekend and still four points clear after their big win with EXETER in second place after they won 2-0 at home against SWINDON. Exeter are now on a total of 25 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seven games. Swindon picked up their fourth blank score sheet and now just one goal in their last four games. MK DONS are in fourth place after they won 1-0 away to Cambridge Utd which takes their goals total to 19 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eight games.

Our Best teams this week are TOTTENHAM after they have scored in all of their nine League and Cup games to keep their 100% scoring record going. They have a total of 17 goals.

Our worst team is BRISTOL ROVERS this weekend as they have picked up a total of seven blank score sheets out of fifteen league and cup games played this season. They have scored just three goals in their last seven games and they have failed to score in their last four games.

Our biggest result in our 36th Season are now WEST HAM UNITED who won 8-0 at home against Macclesfield in the Carabao/League Cup Third Round in Week Nine. West Brom has the second highest score with a 7-1 home win against Queens Park Rangers in their fourth league game of the season in Week Three.  

GRAHAM HARRIS  has remained at the top this weekend, this is now his second weekend at the top and now eight for the season. Graham did not have any of his combination in action this week. His teams are once again Hearts, Tottenham and West Brom. Gary Brown is in second place and he also did not have any of his teams in action this week. His teams are Ayr United, Manchester City and Sunderland  and he is still two goals behind Graham.
