Week Ten

In Week Ten of the competition and we are now half-way through the first half this weekend and we had our third Rollover of the season with a jackpot worth £12. With our eighth winner of the season, winning on a total of 13 goals the cash went to our fourth lady winner, SARAH MARSHALL. This is what I like about Golden Goals, it does not matter on were you are in the table, you still have a chance to win some money.
Sarah is in her third season with the competition and as she started in the season of 2016/17. Last season Sarah finished in  54th place out of 149 with a total of 280 goals and she had one shared weekend win. This season Sarah has been as high as 48th place which was in our first weekend and she has only picked up one blank score sheet. Her best team is Celtic netting 17 goals out of her total of 45. 100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Most of us picked up some midweek goals this week for the race for the cash with two players picking up the highest score with six goals each.They are JAMES BLYTH and TERRY WARWICK. Both have Aston Villa and Notts County with three goals each. James has Celtic as his third team while Terry has Manchester City.
There has been a big change this week with GRAHAM HARRIS still out in front with a total of 33 goals as he picks up two goals from West Brom. He also has Hearts and Tottenham. In second place and now ten goals behind Graham we have TERRY WARWICK moving up from fifth place with 23 goals. In joint third place we still have RYAN WILLIAMS but he is now with JOHN DAVIES up from four with 22 goals each. In joint fourth place all on 21 goals this week we have  JAMES BLYTH straight in with GARY BROWN down from three, JUNE TIGHE also joins them down from two. In joint fifth place all on 20 goals we have CLIFF BAMBRIDGE down from three and MARTIN CORBETT down from four with MANDY WRIGHT also down from four.

WEEKEND RESULTS
We had another great weekend for goals this weekend but our average score for the weekend went up from four last weekend back up to 7 goals this weekend. We had just one of our teams without a game over the weekend with another ten teams that failing to score any goals. The highest score that we had was six goals and they all came from the Scottish Premiership where CELTIC picked up their biggest score of the season with a 6-0 away win over St Johnstone. Celtic are now on a total of 17 goals. The other team was HIBERNIAN where they also picked up their highest score with a 6-0 with against HAMILTON. Hibs are now on a total of 22 goals while Hamilton picked up their sixth blank and now two in a row.
Celtic have been in every season of Golden Goals starting in the 1983/84 season where they were our second voted team. They finished with 116 goals. They have scored 100 or more goals in their last eight consecutive seasons. Their biggest total came in the 2016/17 Season with 134 goals. Last season they netted 105. Over the thirty-six seasons they have scored a total of 3425 goals which gives them an average score of 95 goals per season. They have 70 votes this season.
Hibernian are in their sixth season with us and they started in the 1997/98 Season being the 20th voted team in. they finished on a total of 43 goals. In the following season they picked up their biggest total with 89 goals. Last time out in the 2016/17 Season they finished on a total of 76 goals. Over the six seasons they have scored a total of 393 goals to date which gives them an average score of 65 goals per season. they have just one vote this season.

PREMIERSHIP
MANCHESTER CITY are on still top of the Premiership on goal difference after they drew 0-0 away to LIVERPOOL. Both teams had a 100% scoring record up till this game, so they both have picked up their first blank of the season after a run of eight games. CHELSEA have moved into second place as they won 3-0 away to Southampton which takes their goals tally up to 20 goals. With Liverpool in third place, all three teams are on 20 points. ARSENAL have moved into fourth place after they scored their biggest win of the season with a 5-1 away win against FULHAM. Arsenal have scored in all of their last eight games and they are on a total of 22 goals. Fulham picked up goal number 14. TOTTENHAM are now down to fifth place after they won 1-0 at home to Cardiff.  Tottenham are our only team left with a 100% scoring record after a total of nine league/cup games. Tottenham are now on a total of 17 goals. Behind them come BOURNEMOUTH. They won 4-0 away to Watford and they are now on a total of 22 goals. WOLVES won 1-0 away to Crystal Palace and that is their 11th goal of the season. LEICESTER CITY lost 2-1 at home to EVERTON and they are now on a total of 18 goals while Everton are on 17.  MANCHESTER UNITED won their fourth league game with a 3-2 home win against Newcastle. United went two goals done in the first ten minutes before coming back to win in the second half. United are now on a total of 15 goals and they have scored in all of their last six games.

CHAMPIONSHIP
WEST BROM are now in second place in the table as they win  4-1 at home to Reading. West Brom are now on a total of 34 goals and now nine goals in their last three games. LEEDS UNITED are now down to third place after their drew 1-1 at home to BRENTFORD. Leeds are now on a total of 24 goals while Brentford are on 26 goals with a goal run of nine games. BIRMINGHAM picked up their biggest win of the season by winning 3-1 at home against ROTHERHAM. Both Birmingham and Rotherham are now on 13 goals each. BLACKBURN are on 25 goals as they win 1-0 away to Bolton. NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 2-0 away to Middlesbrough and that now gives them a total of 24 goals. ASTON VILLA lost 2-1 away to Millwall after going a goal up. Villa are now on 21 goals and a goal run of seven games. STOKE have scored in all of their last ten games as they won 1-0 away to Norwich to pick up goal number 21. DERBY drew 1-1 away to Queens Park Rangers and that is goal number 23 for them. HULL picked up their sixth blank score sheet and now two in a row as they lost 1-0 away to Sheffield United. After twelve games, IPSWICH won their first league game with their biggest score of the season to date with a 3-2 away win against SWANSEA. Both Ipswich and Swansea are now on a total of 12 goals each.

LEAGUE ONE
PORTSMOUTH are still on top after they lost 2-0 at home to Gillingham. Portsmouth have picked up their second blank of the season after a goal run of six games. PETERBOROUGH are still in second place after they lost 4-0 at home to BARNSLEY. As Borough picked up their second blank score sheet after a run of nine games, Barnsley have taken their goals total to 24. SUNDERLAND have moved up to third place after they won 2-1 away to Bradford. Sunderland are now on 24 goals with a goal run of ten games. BRISTOL ROVERS picked up their sixth blank of the season after they lost 1-0 at home to Walsall. Rovers have now failed to score in their last three games. CHARLTON lost 2-1 at home to COVENTRY and that is their 19th goal of the season while Coventry are now on 10 goals. LUTON are on 17 goals as they win 3-2 at home to SCUNTHORPE who are now on 21 goals. PLYMOUTH are now second from bottom as they win their first league game 1-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon. Plymouth are now on 12 goals. After a goal run of eleven games, ACCRINGTON STANLEY picked up their second blank of the season as they lost 1-0 away to SHREWSBURY who are now on 11 goals. SOUTHEND drew 0-0 at home to Oxford Utd and that is their third blank of the season. It’s 20 goals for WYCOMBE as they win 2-1 at home against BURTON ALBION who has now on a total of 17 goals.

LEAGUE TWO
LINCOLN CITY are still top here this weekend and now four points clear after they won 1-0 at home to Crewe. Lincoln are now on a total of 26 goals. EXETER have moved up to second place after they drew 2-2 away to Yeovil. Exeter are now on 23 goals. MANSFIELD drew 2-2 away to Bury and that takes their goals total up to 23. NOTTS COUNTY won 1-0 away to bottom of the table Macclesfield and that is goal number 19 for them. MK DONS won 3-0 at home to Cheltenham and they are now on a total of 18 goals. After a two game dry spell for goals, OLDHAM are now on 16 goals after they lost 3-1 at home to Carlsile. SWINDON drew 1-1 at home to Northampton and that is goal number 17 after failing to score in their last two games.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Premiership, HEARTS are still top after they lost their first league game to RANGERS 3-1 away. Hearts are now on a total of 32 goals while Rangers are on a total of 25 goals. Hibernian are still second place after their big win and now two points behind Hearts. Celtic have also moved up to third place after their win. ABERDEEN after a two game dry spell for goals won 4-1 at home against St Mirren. Aberdeen have taken their goals tally up to 13 goals.
In the Championship, AYR UNITED are still top after they won 2-0 at home to DundeeUtd. Ayr have taken their goals total to 33. ROSS COUNTY have moved up to second place after they won 2-0 away to Partick. County are now on a total of 22 goals. ALLOA drew 3-3 away to Queen of South and they are now on a total of 33 goals. FALKIRK are still bottom of the table after they lost their seventh league game out of eight, 2-0 at home to Dunfermline. Falkirk have picked up their seventh blank score sheet of the season.
In League One, RAITH ROVERS are still in second place as they drew 1-1 at home to Arbroath. Rovers are now on 23 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR won again 3-2 at home to Montrose and they are now on a total of 12 goals. DUMBARTON lost 3-2 away to Stranraer and they are now on a total of 15 goals.
In League Two, PETERHEAD won 3-0 at home to Elgin City which has kept them in second place in the league with a total of 19 goals.

Our Best teams this week are TOTTENHAM after they have scored in all of their nine League and Cup games to keep their 100% scoring record going. They have a total of 17 goals.

Our worst team is FALKIRK this weekend as they have picked up a total of seven blank score sheets out of twelve league and cup games played this season.They have scored just four goals in their last six games. 

Our biggest result in our 36th Season are now WEST HAM UNITED who won 8-0 at home against Macclesfield in the Carabao/League Cup Third Round in Week Nine. West Brom has the second highest score with a 7-1 home win against Queens Park Rangers in their fourth league game of the season in Week Three.  

GRAHAM HARRIS  has returned to the top this weekend, in this two horse race, this is now his seventh weekend at the top for this season. Graham picked up a total of eight goals with two of them coming from midweek. His teams are once again Hearts, Tottenham and West Brom. Gary Brown is now back down to second as his combination picked him up two goals in midweek and another four goals at the weekend. His teams are Ayr United and Manchester City and Sunderland  and he is now two goals behind Graham.
At the other end at 133 we have John Filtness back at the bottom as he picks up a total of four goals for the week.  John has now been at 133 for a total of four weeks out of our ten to date. His teams are  Birmingham, Hamilton and Liverpool.
