Week Thirty-One

In Week Thirty-One of the competition and we had two winners to share the Cash Prize Money of £6. Both are first time winners this season which now takes our winners total up to thirty-four and they won on a score of 8 goals each. Our winners are TOM BAXTER and SARAH MARSHALL.
Tom started with us in the 2016/17 Season on where he finished in 118th place with a total of 246 goals. Last season Tom finished in 32nd place with 311 goals. This season, Tom as been as high as 18th place and that was in Week Eight. He has picked up just one blank score sheet to date and his best team is Celtic.
Sarah has also been with us for four seasons as she also started in the 2016/17 Season. There Sarah finished in 38th place on 302 goals. Last season Sarah finished in 112th place with a total of 249 goals. This season, Sarah has been as high as 61 and she has picked up a total of four blank score sheets to date. her best team is Manchester City. Here is our winners combination

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Most of us managed to pick up some more goals this week and we had two players that picked up the most amount of goals with nine each. They belong to TOBY BICKNELL and JED WEARDEN who both have Liverpool and Portsmouth as part of their combo. Their third team is Celtic for Toby and Rangers for Jed.
There are now just ten players to reach the half way mark of 50 or more midweek goals this week.
This week we still have ANDY EYLES leading with a new total of 90 goals and now needs just ten goals for the cash. Andy has Celtic, Fulham and Liverpool. In second place with 89 goals we now have TOBY BICKNELL who has moved up from five. In third place moving down from two this week is MATT DORAN with a total of 86 goals. In fourth place we still have PATRICK O’DONAGHUE with a total of 85 goals. In fifth place down from three we have with a total of 83 goals A&A. CLARK.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend we very much lacking goals since the so called winter break. We had a total of eleven of our teams without a game some due to the weather and another ten that failed to score any goals. It’ not good news again this weekend as the average score has moved back down from four last weekend back to just 3 goals this weekend. We had ten players that failed to pick up any goals this weekend.
The highest score that we had this weekend was five goals and came from League Two where OLDHAM won 5-0 at home to Newport. With their highest score of the season, Oldham are now on a total of 48 goals and they have now scored in all of their last nine games.
Oldham became our 19th team in our very first season of 1983/84 and this is their tenth Season with us. In that season, Oldham finished with a total of 52 goals. They have only scored once with 100 goals and that came in the 1989/90 Season with 110. Last season they finished with a total of 74. Over the seasons they have netted a total of 682 which gives them an 68 goals per season to date. They have just one vote again this season and they have picked up a total of twelve blank score sheets.

The Carabao/Legaue Cup Final
As you all know that we had both teams in the final and the first silverware goes to MANCHESTER CITY who won 2-1 against ASTON VILLA  for the third consecutive season. City have now taken their goal total up to 90 goals while Villa picked up goal number 54.

PREMIER LEAGUE
Champions Liverpool lost their first league game of the season after a run of twenty-seven games, as they lost 3-0 away to Watford. But they are still top and are now just twenty-two points in front of Manchester City in second place who were playing in the cup. That was Liverpools second blank of the season after a goal run of thirteen games. In third place we still have Leicester City who had no game. CHELSEA are still in fourth place as they drew 2-2 away to Bournemouth. Chelsea take their total up to 59 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED are still in fifth place after they drew 1-1 away to EVERTON. United are now on 57 goals to Evertons 47 which now means that Everton have now scored in all of their last seven games.
WOLVES won 3-2 away to TOTTENHAM and they are now on a total of 43 goals while Tottenham are now on a total of 53 goals and a goal run of seven games. NEWCASTLE drew 0-0 at home to Burnley and that is their twelfth blank score sheet and now three in a row. Newcastle have scored just three goals in their last six games. WEST HAM have moved out of the bottom three as they win 3-0 at home to Southampton. West Ham are now on a total of 39 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP
WEST BROM are still on top after they lost 1-0 at home to Wigan. That is West Broms fourth blank of the season. LEEDS UNITED are still in second place and now just one point behind West Brom after they won 4-0 away to Hull. Leeds are now on a total of 59 goals.
In the Play-Offs, we still have all four teams with FULHAM still in third place as they win 2-0 at home against sixth place PRESTON. Fulham are now on a total of 53 goals while Preston picked up their thirteenth blank score sheet and now two in a row. Nottingham Forest have moved up to fourth place with BRENTFORD moving down to fifth place after they drew 2-2 away to CARDIFF. Brentford have taken their goals tally up to 61 goals while Cardiff after a two game dry spell for goals are now on 60.
Meanwhile BLACKBURN ROVERS drew 2-2 at home to Swansea and they are now on a total of 57 goals. HUDDERFIELD picked up their biggest result of the season as they win 4-0 at home to Charlton. Huddersfield are now on a total of 45 goals. LUTON are now on a total of 49 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to STOKE who picked up goal number 48. QUEENS PARK RANGERS drew 2-2 at home to BIRMINGHAM and they are now on a total of 64 goals while Birmingham are on 51. BARNSLEY lost 2-0 away to Reading to pick up their twelfth blank score sheet. It’s 50 goals for SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY after they lost 3-1 at home to DERBY.  Derby are now on a total of 52 goals and they have now scored in all of their last nine games.

LEAGUE ONE
ROTHERHAM have dropped down to second place after they drew 1-1 at home to MK DONS. Rotherham are now on a total of 73 goals and they have now scored in all of their last sixteen games. The Dons are now on a total of 42 and they have scored in all of their last seven games.
In the Play-Offs, we have just two of the four teams with Portsmouth in third place and SUNDERLAND moving down to fifth place after they lost 1-0 to leaders Coventry.  Sunderland have now had a total of ten blank score sheets. 
Meanwhile BLACKPOOL won 2-1 at home to IPSWICH and they are now on 54 goals while Ipswich hit goal number 51. ACCRINGTON STANLEY drew 0-0 away to Bottom of the table Bolton and that is their tenth blank and now two in a row. PETERBOROUGH drew 1-1 away to Bristol Rovers and they are now on 74 goals. DONCASTER won 3-1 at home to Wycombe and they have taken their goals total to 53. SOUTHEND lost again 2-1 away to Oxford Utd and they are now on a total of 39 goals.

LEAGUE TWO
We still have just one team in the Play-Offs again this week as PLYMOUTH move down to fifth place after they lost 2-1 away to BRADFORD CITY. Plymouth are now on 61 goals while Bradford are now on 45 goals.
Meanwhile SALFORD CITY are now on 49 goals as they win 2-0 away to Macclesfield. SCUNTHORPE drew 2-2 away to Port Vale and they are now on a total of 45 goals.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the WILLIAM HILL CUP Quarter-Finals, we will have just three of eight teams left. Champions CELTIC are going through after they won just 1-0 away to St Johnstone. Celtic are now on 101 goals. RANGERS go out after they lost 1-0 away to HEARTS. Rangers have now had four blank score sheets while hearts picked up goal number 44.
In League One, RAITH ROVERS are still top after they lost away to Dumbarton. That is Raith’s sixth blank of the season after a goal run of eight games. Just one point behind them still is FALKIRK who also lost 3-2 away to Clyde. Falkirk are now on a total of 62 goals.
In League Two, COVE RANGERS are still top and now ten points clear after they won 3-0 away to STENHOUSEMUIR. Rangers are now on a total of 72 goals while Stenhousemuir picked up their seventh blank of the season.

Our on form team this weekend is CELTIC after they have scored in all of their last twenty-five games. They have a total of 101 goals which still gives them an average score of 2.8 goals per game.

Our worst team this week are HEARTS. They have picked up a total of fourteen blank score sheets in thirty-seven games played. They have a total of 44 goals and just one vote.

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season is LEICESTER CITY from Week Thirteen as the beat Southampton 9-0 away in the league.  

It’s all change once again at the top this weekend as BRADLEY CLARK moves back up to number one. Bradley picked up a total of six goals again this week from his combination of  Celtic, Liverpool and Manchester City. Bradley has now been top for a total of four weeks this season. The good news for Bradley is that he has started to move up our Champions league. He has moved up to 36th place beating Phil Mocklers final total of 263 goals from our 1989/90 Season. Mike Liddle drops down to second place after he picked up just four goals all coming from the weekend. Mikes teams are Celtic, Manchester City and Peterborough.
At the other end at 123 The SAINT has remained at the bottom, as he picks up a total of just three goals this weekend. This now means that The Saint has been at the bottom for a total of twenty-four weeks. His teams are Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.
