Week Thirty-Five

In Week Thirty-five the football seems to be going okay with only a few players going down with the virus. Most of the teams have played two or more games. We congratulate LIVERPOOL on winning this seasons title and to MANCHESTER CITY who become our second team to hit 100 goals this season.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had a total of 24 of our teams in action over the weekend but out of them eight failed to score any goals. The highest score that we had with our restart this weekend was once again three goals.

FA CUP Quarter-Finals
We had seven of the eight teams in cup action over the weekend and out of them four have made it through to the Semi-Finals. They are MANCHESTER UNITED as they win 2-1 away to Norwich. United are now on a total of 68 goals. CHELSEA won 1-0 away to LEICESTER CITY to pick up their 70th goal of the season while City picked up their eighth blank and now two in a row this week. It’s 60 goals for ARSENAL as they win 2-1 away to SHEFFIELD UNITED. United after three restart games and no goals, hit goal number 39. MANCHESTER CITY stepped into the last spot in the semi-finals as they won 2-0 away to NEWCASTLE. City are now on a total of 102 goals while Newcastle picked up their thirteenth blank of the season.

The draw for the Semi-Finals are ARSENAL v MANCHESTER CITY and MANCHESTER UNITED v CHELSEA. Games to be played on the 18th and 19th July.

PREMIER LEAGUE
The only game that we had over the weekend was between ASTON VILLA and WOLVES where Wolves won 1-0 away. The single goal now gives Wolves a total of 47 and have scored in all of their three restart games. Villa remain second from bottom and that is their ninth blank of the season.

CHAMPIONSHIP
All change here again as LEEDS UNITED move back on top as they win 3-0 at home to FULHAM. Leeds are now on a total of 64 goals while Fulham move down to fifth place with their eleventh blank of the season and two in a row. West Brom are now back down to second place.
In the Play-offs still we have all four teams with Brentford in third place and NOTTINGHAM FOREST in fourth place after they won 3-1 at home to HUDDERSFIELD. Forest are now on a total of 56 goals while Huddersfield picked up their 46th. As we have said that Fulham are in fifth place with CARDIFF in sixth. BLACKBURN picked up their eight blank of the season after they lost 2-0 away to Wigan.

Our BEST three teams this week with Golden Goals are

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE

PETERHEAD (33) STENHOUSEMUIR (36) WEST HAM (39) Total of 108 goals

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season is still LEICESTER CITY from Week Thirteen after they won 9-0 away to Southampton in the league.

GUY DOWSETT remains on top after he picked up a total of eight goals from Manchester City’s three games that they have played this week. This is Guy’s third week at the top and has now been at the top for a total of twenty-two weeks over the season. His other teams which are no longer playing are Celtic and Cove Rangers. He is now just one goal clear of Bradley Clark in second place as he picks up a total of twelve goals this week with his combination of  Celtic, Liverpool and Manchester City.
More good news for Guy as he moves up to 29th place in our Champions League as he moves above Martyn Gent’s  final score of  289 goals from the 1984/85 Season and my score of 290 goals in the 2008/09 Season..
At the other end at 123 The SAINT has remained at the bottom, even though he still has all three of his teams playing. After picking up three goals at the weekend, The Saint has been at the bottom for a total of twenty-eight weeks. His teams are Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.

Manchester City 100 Goals

Liverpool were confirmed as Champions last night after MANCHESTER CITY lost 2-1 away to CHELSEA. Golden Goals knew that Liverpool was going to be Champions way back at the start of the year. Well done Liverpool with their first title in 30 years. But let’s not take away Chelsea’s win over last season’s Champions. Chelsea have won both of their restart games and they have now taken their goals total up to 69.
City might have lost out on being Champions again, but they have now scored 100 goals and it’s their sixth season with Golden Goals that they have netted 100 or more goals over our 37 year history. Last season they picked up a total of 137 goals which equals their highest score also of 137 goals from the 2013/14 Season. This remains a Golden Goals Record.
As City becomes our second team to score 100 goals this season, They are now just eight goals behind Celtics end of season total of 108 goals.
Meanwhile, ARSENAL have won their first restart game as they win 2-0 away to Southampton. Arsenal are now on a total of 58 goals.

Week Thirty-Four

Hello and welcome back to Golden Goals Season 37. I must admit that I thought that the rest of the games would not be played here in the UK, but happy that they have now restarted.

WEEKEND RESULTS
Out of a total of 57 teams that started this season we are left with just 31 of our current teams in action. There are no Scottish games what so ever and in the English Leagues One and Two it’s just the play-offs to finish off the season.
Well out of the 27 teams that did play over the weekend, eleven of them failed to score any goals. The highest score that we had with our restart this weekend was three goals and we had three of our team’s that picked them up. But here are the results.

PREMIER LEAGUE
LIVERPOOL are still on top this week as they drew 0-0 in the local Mersey derby against EVERTON away. Liverpool have now picked up four blank score sheets while Everton picked up their ninth.  Manchester City are now just 23 points behind Liverpool after their win in midweek. LEICESTER CITY are in third place after they drew 1-1 away to Watford. Leicester are now on a total of 75 goals. In fourth place is CHELSEA as they win 2-1 away to ASTON VILLA. Chelsea have taken their goals total up to 67 goals while Villa, still second from bottom are now on 55. ARSENAL’s restart has taken a bit of a dive as they lost again 2-1 away to Brighton to pick up their 56th goal of the season. WEST HAM lost 2-0 at home to WOLVES to pick up their twelfth blank of the season while Wolves are now on a total of 45 goals.

All change here as WEST BROM move back on top on goal difference as they drew 0-0 at home to BIRMINGHAM CITY. As West Brom pick up their sixth blank of the season, City have now had thirteen. LEEDS UNITED are now in second place after they lost 2-0 away to CARDIFF and that is their ninth blank score sheet while Cardiff have taken their goals tally up to 64.

Rovers are now on a total of 60 goals. HUDDERSFIELD lost 2-0 at home to Wigan and that is their eleventh blank fo the season. DERBY also picked up three goals in their 3-2 away win over Millwall. Derby are now on a total of 58 goals. BARNSLEY are on 48 goals as they win 1-0 away to QUEENS PARK RANGERS, who picked up their twelfth blank of the season. Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season is still LEICESTER CITY from Week Thirteen after they won 9-0 away to Southampton in the league.

We still have GUY DOWSETT on top after he picked up the three goals from Manchester City in midweek. This is Guy’s twenty-first week at the top and his other teams which are no longer playing are Celtic and Cove Rangers. He is still five goals clear of Bradley Clark in second place with his combination of  Celtic, Liverpool and Manchester City. There is good news for Guy as he moves up to 31st place in our Champions League as he moves above Adam Porter’s final score of  284 goals from the 2006/07 Season.
At the other end at 123 The SAINT has remained at the bottom, even though he still has all three of his teams playing. After picking up two goals at the weekend, The Saint has been at the bottom for a total of twenty-seven weeks. His teams are Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.
