But although we have had people from all over the world looking to see what is going on in Golden Goals, no one has ever asked questions about this great competition. We want to build this competition up in numbers, so if you think that you would like to take part in Season 40, please drop me an email to Steve at goldengoals1983@gmail.com  But in the meantime may I take this opportunity to thank you for your tremendous support throughout 2021 and to wish you all

Some Good News - For Now

The Premier League and EFL clubs have chosen to carry on with the Boxing Day fixtures despite ongoing disruption caused by Covid-19 cases here in the UK. The Premier League's clubs met today to discuss the fixture list after six weekend games were postponed. No voting took place and so two rounds of fixtures are in place across five days from 26 December, while the EFL will play games "where it is safe to do so".

It had been expected that the Premier League's starting on 28 December, would be postponed in order to ease the pressure on Premier League squads. Instead, clubs have been advised if they have 13 fit players, plus a goalkeeper, they should fulfil their games.

FA Cup replays in rounds three and four have however been scrapped and talks are ongoing on whether to reduce EFL Cup semi-final ties to one-leg matches.

Two Championship matches and five League Two games to be played on 26 December (Boxing Day) have already been called off because of positive Covid-19 cases.

Golden Goals will carry on the best we can with Season 39.

Week Twenty

In Week Twenty of the competition its half-time here at Golden Goals but we had our first major setback this week as the new Covid variant has started to effect the league fixtures. I really don’t understand why 25% of the EFL players are not yet vaccinated. With under half of our teams that were fit to play this weekend, we have cancelled the cash prize money for this weekend. The FA are to have a meeting today to see what can be done about the rest of the season. It is hopped that we can have our Christmas Weekend Jackpot of £10 on Boxing day, but we will have to wait and see after the FA’s meeting. But lets see what happen to the teams that did manage to play this week. It was SAM LEGHORN that picked up our highest score with a total of 10 goals. Sam’s teams are   Arsenal 4, Manchester City 4, Tottenham 2

Is Season 39 Over?

It is with sad news that the new Covid Comicron variant is now taking hold here in the UK. We have already started to see games being cancelled and the weekend coming up does not look too good for our English teams. We are at the half-time stage here at Golden Goals and I just don’t think that this season is going to finish. The news is that a quarter of the EFL players are not intending to get the Covid-19 vaccine so this will mean that more games will be postponed as the days roll on. So while we can, here are a couple of games that did play last night.

In the Premier League second place LIVERPOOL went a goal down against Newcastle but won the game 3-1 tom take their goals tally to 53 goals and they keep their 100% scoring record going. CHELSEA drew 1-1 at home to Everton and they are on 41 goals and a goal run of twelve games.
