Week Twenty-One

In Week Twenty-One of the competition it’s the start of the second half here at Golden Goals, but we are now really seeing games cancelled due to the new Covid variant. It was hopped to have our Christmas Weekend Jackpot of £10 on Boxing day, but we have under 50% of our teams in action on that day. In fact we had just twenty-two that managed to play. So we are going to Rollover the £10 Jackpot and add it to next weeks Jackpot of £5 to give a lucky player a total of £15 to win in the first week of the New year. It had TONY GUY (2) and SAM LEGHORN (once again) that picked up our highest score with a total of 14 goals each. Tony’s teams are Arsenal 5, Chelsea 3 an d Manchester City 6. Sam’s teams are Arsenal 5, Manchester City 6, Tottenham 3.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Just over half of us managed to pick up some midweek goals this week and the race for the cash has changed once again. We now have eleven players that are nearer to that 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot this week. It was CHRIS SETFORD that picked up the most amount of goals with eight this week. His teams are Arsenal, Liverpool and Rangers. Chris is now on a total of 56 midweek goals. We have LOUIE HARRINGTON remaining in the lead to end 2021. Louie has a total of 64 goals. In second place we still have BOB SOPER now with a total of 62 goals. In third place down from one we have LYANNA GRIMWOOD now on a total of 59 goals. In fourth place with 56 goals we have CHRIS SETFORD coming back in the race. In fifth place we still have TONY GUY (3) but he is now on a total of 54 goals. In sixth place we have PETER PORTER down from three with  KEAMUS SETNA down from five. DAVE WOOD comes in and they are all on a total of 53 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

As we have said that we had just twenty-two of our teams that managed to play on Boxing Day after the rest of the games were cancelled due to teams picking up the new Covid variant. Out of the ones that did play only four failed to score any goals. So it is once again no surprise that our weekend average score moved up form three last weekend to 5 goals this weekend. The Highest score on Boxing Day was six goals and they came from MANCHESTER CITY. They won 6-3 at home to LEICESTER CITY. City are our current team on form with 18 goals scored in atheir last four games. They are now on a total of 56 goals and a goal run of eight games. Leicester are on 37 goals this week. Manchester City became our 15th most voted team in our very first season. They finished on a total of 73 goals. They have scored 137 goals twice which is our highest ever score in our history. First in the 2013/14 Season and then again in the 2018/19 Season. Last season they finished on a total of 106 goals. They have score 100 or more goals in seven of their 28 seasons with Golden Goals. Over the years they have scored a total of 2379 goals which gives them an average score of 85 goals to date. They have a total of 42 votes this season.
