Week Thirty-Eight

In Week Thirty-Eight of the competition and we had our 4th Rollover in our 40th Season. We had just one player that picked up the highest score of 11 goals and to claim the full Rollover Cash of £10. That player is JAMES BLYTH who picks up his second win of the season. James last won back in Week Four with a shared win and becomes the tenth player to have won twice this season. Since then James has picked up a total of five blank score sheets at the weekend. He has been at the top for one week in Week Eleven. This is the second time that he has picked up 11 goals at the weekend. His teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Over half of us have managed to pick up some midweek goals again this week with another change in the leading pack for the £40 cash prize money this season. Leading the race again this week we have JAMES BLYTH now with a total of 93 goals. James now needs just 7 goals for the cash. His teams are Ipswich, Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday. In second place we now have NICK HORTON moving up from three with a total of 88 goals. In third place down from two we have TOBY BICKNELL our 2014/15 Champion with a total of 87 goals. In fourth place we now have RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion moving down from three with a total of 86 goals. In fifth place with 84 goals we have FIONA CARTHY moving down from two. In sixth place this week we still have KEITH THOMSON but also moving down from four we have COLIN WEBB both with a total of 81 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but five of our teams in action and out of the the ones that did play, 14 failed to score any goals. Once again we did have a couple of  high scoring results this weekend and as everyone picked up some goals. So for the third weekend running, the average score for this weekend remained at 5 goals.The highest score that we had came from IPSWICH TOWN where they won 6-0 at home against CHARLTON. Ipswich have taken their goals tally up to 97 goals which is their best to date and now with a goal run of 10 games. Charlton picked up their 13th blank of the season.

Ipswich Town became our 52nd voted English team to entre into Golden Goals. In their first season of 1986/87, they finished with a total of 64 goals. Their highest score was of 94 goals and they picked up them up twice, first in the 1997/98 Season and then again in the 2002/03 Season. Last season they finished on a total of 70 goals. This is their 25th Season with us and over the years they have netted a total of 1777 goals. this now gives them an average score of 71 goals per season. They have a total of five votes this season.

PREMIER LEAGUE

Top of the table ARSENAL drew 2-2 away to WEST HAM after going two goals up in the first half. Arsenal are on a total of 78 goals and a goal run of 11 games. West Ham have taken their goals total to 35 and a goal run of 6 games now. MANCHESTER CITY in second place are now just 4 points behind the leaders with a game in hand after they won 3-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY. City are now on a total of 97 goals and a goal run of 11 games. Leicester picked up their 50th goal of the season. MANCHESTER UNITED have moived back in to third place after they won 2-0 away to Nottingham Forest and they are on a total of 74 goals. NEWCATLE are down to fourth place as they lost 3-0 away to ASTON VILLA and picked up their 11th blank of the season after a goal run of 5 games. Villa have taken their goals tally up to 51 and a goal run of 20 games. After they had failed to score in their previous three games, CHELSEA  lost 2-1 at home to BRIGHTON and they are on a total of 30 goals while Brighton are on 73 and have extended their goal run to 9 games. EVERTON lost 3-1 at home to FULHAM and are on a total of 27 goals while Fulham are now on a total of 51 goals. CRYSTAL PALACE won 2-0 away to Southampton and are on a total of 34 goals. TOTTENHAM lost 3-2 at home to BOURNEMOUTH and are on a total of 61 goals and a goal run of 5 games. Bournemouth are now on a total of 39 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Champions BURNLEY drew 0-0 away to READING and have now had a total of seven blank score sheets while Reading picked up their 15th. SHEFFIELD UNITED in second place won 4-1 at home to Cardiff and that has taken their goals tally to 76 goals.

In the Play-Offs LUTON are still in third place after they won 2-0 away to Rotherham and they are on a total of 60 goals. Middlesbrough are in fourth place.

Meanwhile WEST BROM won 2-1 away to Stoke and are on a total of 59 goals. SUNDERLAND won 2-1 at home against Birmingham and are on a total of 65 goals. SWANSEA won 1-0 at home to HUDDERSFIELD and they are on a total of 61 goals while Huddersfield picked up their 18th blank of the season. WATFORD won 2-0 at home to Bristol City and are on a total of 51 goals.

LEAGUE ONE

PLYMOUTH have moved back to the top of the table after they won 1-0 away to EXETER. That is their 72nd goal of the season. With their biggest result of the season, Ipswich have moved up to second.

In the Play-offs SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY drop down to fourth place after they lost 3-2 away to Burton and they are on a total of 86 goals. PETERBOROUGH have dropped down to sixth place after they lost 2-0 away to Cambridge Utd. That is Boroughs 14th blank of the season.

Meanwhile BRISTOL ROVERS drew 1-1 at home to DERBY and are on a total of 55 goals while Derby are on 78. FOREST GREEN ROVERS are relegated after they lost 5-1 at home to Barnsley. Rovers are on a total of 37 goals after they had failed to score in their previous three games. LINCOLN CITY won 3-2 at home to Port Vlae and are now on a total of 51 goals. MK DONS drew 2-2 at home to Cheltenham and are on a total of 53 goals and a goal run of 7 games. OXFORD UNITED picked up their 18th blank of the season and now two in a row after they lost 1-0 at home to Bolton.

LEAGUE TWO

The highest team that we have here is in the Play-Offs in fourth place as STOCKPORT COUNTY drew 1-1 away to GILLINGHAM. Stockport are on a total of 69 goals and a goal run of 7 games now. Gillingham picked up their 39th goal of the season and they have now scored in all of their last 6 games. BRADFORD CITY are in sixth place as they win 3-0 away to Rochdale. They have taken their goals tally to 56. MANSFIELD TOWN have moved up to seventh place after they drew 1-1 away to Grimsby. That is goal number 68 for them.

Meanwhile SALFORD CITY drop out of the play-offs after they lost 1-0 at home against Colchester and picked up their 12th blank of the season. Its 50 goals for AFC WIMBLEDON after they lost 2-1 away to Stevenage. SUTTON UNITED picked up their 17th blank of the season after they lost 2-0 at home to Leyton Orient. Sutton have scored just two goals in their last 7 games now. SWINDON drew 0-0 at home to Trnmere and that is their 15th blank score sheet and now they have failed to score in their last two games.

SCOTTISH LEAGUE RESULTS

In the Premiership, Champions CELTIC won 4-1 away to Kilmarnock which now means that Celtic have taken their total to 127 and a goal run of 31 games. RANGERS in second place won 5-2 at home against St Mirren. Rangers are now on a total of 95 goals. Aberdeen are still in third place after their win on Friday night. HEARTS are still in fourth place after they lost again 1-0 away to HIBERNIAN. Hearts picked up their 13th blank of the season and now two in a row. Hearts have now scored just one goal in their last five games. Hibs take their goal total to 58.

In League One ALLOA in fourth place won 1-0 away to KELTY HEARTS. Alloa are on a total of 60 goals while Kelty picked up their 15th blank score sheet and now four games without a goal.

In League Two, STENHOUSEMUIR lost 1-0 at home to Stirling to get their 4th blank of the season. BONNYRIGG ROSE lost 2-0 at home against Dumbarton and picked up their 10th blank of the season and now two in a row.

Our best performing team are RANGERS as they have now scored in all of their last 32 league/cup games played. They have a total of 95 goals. That gives them an average score of 2.4 goals per game.    

Our worst performing team is GILLINGHAM as they have picked up a total of 24 blank score sheets out of 51 League/Cup games played.

Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are CELTIC who won 9-0 away to Dundee Utd in the league and LIVERPOOL winning 9-0 at home to Bournemouth in the league both from Week Five.

Our 2010/11 Champion TONY GUY with combo two, has remained at the top for his 25th consecutive weekend. Tony picked up a total of 11 goals this week from Arsenal, Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday and he is now 8 goals in front now. Tony has moved up to 32nd place in our Champions League this weekend. He has beaten our 2006/07 Champions Adam Porter’s total of 284 goals and  Martyn Gent’s score from 1984/85 of 289 goals. Tony has also beaten one of my scores of 290 from the 2008/09 Season. Mark Gregory in second place, picked up a total of 8 goals this week. His teams are Celtic, Manchester City and Norwich.

At the other end at 108 we have our fourth player to stay there this season and it’s JOHN NICHOLLS after he picked up a total of  just 4 goals for the week. John’s  teams are  Bristol Rovers, Everton and Leeds United. But there is good news for John and that is he has started to climb up our Losers League to 39th place. John has beaten his own score of 131 goals from the 2020/21 Season.

Once again not many changes in the top ten.
