Week Thirty-Six

In Week Thirty-Six of the competition and we had one player winning on a total of 12 goals this weekend. They are DAVE WOOD who pick up his second win of the season. Dave picks up our 3rd Rollover in our 40th Season worth £10. Dave last won in Week Fourteen on a score of 13 goals. Since then he has picked up four more blank weekend score sheets which brings his total to five. Ninth is still his highest position but this is his best since Christmas. His winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Just 15 of us have managed to pick up some midweek goals again this week with another change in the leading pack for the £40 cash prize money this season.

Leading the race again this week we have JAMES BLYTH out in front with a total of 84 goals. James now needs just 16 goals for the cash. His teams are Ipswich, Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday. In second place we still have TOBY BICKNELL our 2014/15 Champion now on a total of 82 goals. In third place down from two we have FIONA CARTHY and COLIN WEBB both with a total of 80 goals each. In fourth place we have NICK HORTON and (me) STEVE REEVE down from third place with  RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion moving up from fifth place. All of us are still on a total of 79 goals. In fifth place we now have CHRIS DICKER moving down from four still with a total of 78 goals. In sixth place this week we have MARK GREGORY and KEITH THOMSON both moving down from five still with a total of 77 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

All but 8 of our teams were in action and out of the the ones that did play, 12 failed to score any goals. We did have some high results this weekend and so the average score for this weekend was 5 goals. The highest score of the weekend came from CHARLTON who picked up their highest result of the season after they won 6-0 at home to Shrewsbury. Charlton have taken their goals tally to 69 and a goal run of five games now.

Charlton became our 38th voted English team in Golden Goals when they started in our second season 1984/85. In their first season they finished on a total of 49 goals. Their highest score came in the 1997/98 Season with a total of 91 goals. Last season they finished with a total of 61 goals. This is their 32nd Season with us and over the years they have netted a total of 2028 goals which gives them an average total of 63 goals per season to date. This season they have a total of four votes and a total of 11 blank score sheets. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

Top of the table ARSENAL won 4-1 at home to LEEDS UNITED and have taken their goals total to 74 goals and a goal run of nine games now. Leeds picked up goal number 49. MANCHESTER CITY in second place are still 8 points behind the leaders after they won 4-1 at home to LIVERPOOL. City are now on a total of 90 goals and a goal run of nine games, while Liverpool picked up goal number 54. MANCHESTER UNITED move down to fourth place after they lost 2-0 away to NEWCATLE. As United picked up their 5th blank of the season, Newcastle have moved above United and are on a total of 50 goals. BOURNEMOUTH won 2-1 at home to FULHAM and are on a total of 35 goals. Fulham are on a total of 48 goals. BRIGHTON drew 3-3 at home against Brentford and they have taken their goals tally to 68 goals and a goal run of six games. CRYSTAL PALACE won 2-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY and are now on a total of 27 goals. Leicester are on a total of 48 goals. CHELSEA lost 2-0 at home to ASTON VILLA  and picked up their 12th blank of the season. Villa have taken their goals total to 44 and a goal run of seventeen games now. WEST HAM won 1-0 at home to Southampton and they are on a total of 31 goals. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

Burnley are still top of the table with SHEFFIELD UNITED in second place after they won 1-0 away to NORWICH. United are on a total of 71 goals while Norwich picked up their 13th blank of the season and now two games without a goal. Norwich have scored just one goal in their last four games.

In the Play-Offs MIDDLESBROUGH in third place lost 4-2 away to HUDDERSFIELD and they are on a total of 72 goals and a goal run of five games. Huddersfield picked up their highest result of the season and have now taken their goals tally to 38. LUTON are in fourth place as they win 2-0 at home to WATFORD. Luton are on a total of 55 goals and a goal run of seven games. Watford picked up their 15th blank of the season.

Meanwhile READING drew 1-1 away to Bristol City and picked up their 45th goal of the season. SWANSEA won 3-2 away to Cardiff and are now on a total of 58 goals. WEST BROM drew 0-0 at home to Millwall and picked up their 10th blank of the season. 

LEAGUE ONE

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are back on top of the table after they drew again 1-1 at home to LINCOLN CITY. Wednesday are on a total of 80 goals. Plymouth drop down to second place on goal difference.

In the Play-Offs we still have IPSWICH in third place as they won 2-0 away to DERBY. Ipswich are on a total of 86 goals and a goal run of seven games now. Derby picked up their 14th blank of the season and now three games in a row. PETERBOROUGH have moved up to sixth place after they drew 0-0 at home against OXFORD UNITED. Borough picked up their 13th blank of the season while Oxford picked up their 16th.

Meanwhile FOREST GREEN ROVERS lost 1-0 away to Portsmouth and picked up their 16th blank of the season and they are still bottom of the league. MK DONS drew 2-2 away to Wycombe and they are on a total of 49 goals. 

LEAGUE TWO

The highest teams that we have in this league are all in the Play-Offs. They are still Stockport County in fifth place with BRADFORD CITY moving down to sixth place after they won 3-2 at home to Grimsby. Bradford have taken their goals total to 50 goals. Salford City are down to seventh place.

Meanwhile AFC WIMBLEDON lost 1-0 at home to Rochdale and picked up their 16th blank of the season. GILLINGHAM lost 2-1 away to Barrow and they are on a total of 36 goals. It’s 50 goals for SWINDON after they lost 2-1 away to Hartlepool. After failing to score in their previous two games,  MANSFIELD TOWN won 4-1 at home to CRAWLEY TOWN and have taken their goals total to 62 goals. Crawley are on a total of 47 goals and a goal run of six games now. After they had failed to score in their last three games, SUTTON UNITED drew 1-1 away to Walsall. Sutton are on a total of 41 goals. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUE RESULTS

In the Premiership, Champions CELTIC won 2-0 away to Ross County. Celtic’s goals take’s them to a total of 120 and a goal run of 29 games. RANGERS hold on to second place after they won 2-0 at home to bottom of the table Dundee Utd. Rangers are on a total of 88 goals. HEARTS are in third place after they lost 2-1 away to Kilmarnock and hit goal number 55 after a two game dry spell. ABERDEEN in fourth place won 1-0 away to St Johnston and are on a total of 68 goals. HIBERNIAN lost 3-1 at home to Motherwell and they are on a total of 56 goals and a goal run of seven games.

In League One ALLOA are down to fourth place after they lost 1-0 at home to Airdrie and picked up their 10th blank of the season. KELTY HEARTS picked up their 13th blank score sheet after they drew 0-0 away to Dunfirmline.

In League Two, STENHOUSEMUIR won 2-1 away to Dumbarton and they are on a total of 60 goals. BONNYRIGG ROSE won 1-0 at home to Stranraer and they have taken their total to 39 goals. 

Our BEST three teams this week

Our WORST three teams are

Our best performing team are RANGERS as they have now scored in all of their last 30 league/cup games played. They have a total of 88 goals. That gives them an average score of 2.3 goals per game. 

Our worst performing team is GILLINGHAM as they have picked up a total of 24 blank score sheets out of 48 League/Cup games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are CELTIC who won 9-0 away to Dundee Utd in the league and LIVERPOOL winning 9-0 at home to Bournemouth in the league both from Week Five.

Our 2010/11 Champion TONY GUY with combo two, has remained at the top for his 23rd consecutive weekend. Tony picked up a total of 9 goals this week from Arsenal, Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday and he is now 8 goals in front.  Tony has now moved up to 37th place in our Champions League. He has beaten our 1990/91 Champions Robert Hough and Geoff Dockerill 1994/95 scores of 274 goals. Mark Gregory in second place, picked up a total of 6 goals all coming from the weekend. His teams are Celtic, Manchester City and Norwich.

At the other end at 108 we still have SANDRA NICHOLLS who picked up a total of 5 goals all coming from the weekend. Sandra’s teams are Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Leicester City. Sandra has now been here for 6 weeks and a total of 21 weeks throughout the season. 

As you can see that the top two did not change this week but the rest had a slight movement this week.
