Week Twenty-Seven

In Week Twenty-Seven of the competition we had our fourth player to win twice this season and it goes to GUY DOWSETT (2). Guy won with a score of 12 goals which is his personal best with this combo and he picks up the full £5 Weekend Cash Prize Money once again. Guy last won in Week Nineteen and he still has had only two weekend blank score sheets to date. This combo has also been top for four weeks through the season. His best team now are Rangers. Guy’s winning teams once again are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Just over half of us managed to pick up some midweek goals again this week and we still have two players that are far in front from the rest of the pack. We can add another two players to the list who are at the half way mark. We now have fifty-one players that are nearer to that 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot. The race for the cash has remained the same this week. We have LYANNA GRIMWOOD in the lead with a total of 86 goals. Lyanna teams are Fulham. Manchester City and Sunderland. In second place we have BOB SOPER with a total of 81 goals. In third place LOUIE HARRINGTON with a total of 78 goals. In fourth place with 72 goals we have PETER PORTER. In fifth place we have COLIN WEBB on a total of 70 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but eleven of our teams in action this weekend but some were cancelled due to the weather over the weekend, Out of the ones that did play only nine failed to score any goals. So it was a very good weekend as the average score went up from three goals last weekend to 6 goals this weekend. The highest score came from RANGERS with a total of five goals. After their 3-0 defeat in midweek by their rivals Celtic, Rangers took their frustration out on HEARTS by winning 5-0 at home. The win has taken their goals total up to 65. Hearts picked up their sixth blank of the season and now two in a row. 

FA CUP Fourth Round

We had a dramatic cup round in round four with some of our teams getting very lucky to win their round. Out of the eighteen teams that we had in this round, only seven have made it through to the next round. Their were a lot of cup up sets and a few that scraped through this round.

The teams through are CHELSEA after they went a goal down, they drew after full time but then went on to win 2-1 at home against PLYMOUTH in extra time. Chelsea are on a total of 62 goals while Plymouth maybe out but they are on a total of 60 goals and they have now scored in all of their last twelve games. CRYSTAL PALACE won 2-0 at home to Hartlepool and they are on a total of 35 goals and a goal run of six games now. WEST HAM went a goal down against non-league Kidderminster but drew 1-1 after full time. West Ham won in the very last minute of extra time to win 2-1. West Ham are on a total of 47 goals. MANCHESTER CITY won 4-1 at home against FULHAM and they have taken their goals tally to 69 goals and they have now scored in all of their last fifteen games. Fulham are on 78 and they have now scored in all of their last seven games. PETERBOROUGH won 2-0 at home to QPR and they are on a total of 27 goals. TOTTENHAM won 3-1 at home to BRIGHTON and they are now on a total of 37 goals. Brighton are on 32 goals and they have extended their goal run to eight games. LIVERPOOL won 3-1 at home to CARDIFF CITY and they are now on a total of 75 goals. Cardiff are on 37 goals. NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 4-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY and they are now on a total of 46 goals and a goal run of six games. Leicester hit goal number 46 but they have now scored in all of their last eleven games.

Other teams that went out are BRENTFORD who lost 4-1 away to Everton and that is goal number 44 for them. BARNSLEY lost 1-0 away to Huddersfield and that is blank number sixteen for them and now they have failed to score in their last four games. WIGAN picked up their fifth blank of the season as they lost 2-0 away to Stoke. WOLVES lost 1-0 at home to Norwich and that is blank number eleven for them. BOURNEMOUTH lost 1-0 at home against non-league team Boreham Wood and that is their seventh blank of the season. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

We only had one team in action and they were WATFORD. They drew 0-0 away to Burnley to pick up their tenth blank of the season and now two in a row. Watford are third from bottom with a game in hand. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

We had just three teams in action here. HULL lost 1-0 at home to PRESTON and that is their fourteenth blank score sheet while Preston are on a total of 46 goals. SWANSEA after a three game dry spell hit goal number 38 as they win 1-0 at home against Blackburn Rovers. 

LEAGUE ONE

We still have the top two teams here and they are ROTHERHAM who won 1-0 at home against Accrington. Rotherham are now on a total of 60 goals. Wigan remained second place.

In the Play-Offs we have three teams still with SUNDERLAND going down to fourth place after they lost 2-1 at home against Doncaster. Sunderland are on a total of 62 goals. OXFORD UNITED have moved up to fifth place after they won 3-2 at home to PORTSMOUTH. Oxford are now on a total of 60 goals. Portsmouth are on a total of 35 goals. Wycombe are now down to sixth place.

Meanwhile BURTON ALBION lost 2-0 at home to SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY and that is their eighth blank of the season. Wednesday are on a total of 43 goals. CHARLTON won 3-2 at home to AFC Wimbledon and and they are now on a total of 45 goals. IPSWICH are on 51 goals as they win 1-0 at home to Gillingham. LINCOLN CITY lost 2-1 away to MK Dons and they are on a total of 36 goals. BOLTON drew 1-1 away to Morecambe and they are on 47 goals. 

LEAGUE TWO

SUTTON UNITED are back up to third place after they drew 1-1 at home to Bristol Rovers. Sutton are on a total of 48 goals

In the Play-Offs we have just one team this week and they are EXETER CITY in seventh place. They won 2-1 away to SWINDON and they are on 43 goals to Swindon’s total of 49 goals and a goal run of eight games.

Meanwhile STEVENAGE drew 2-2 away to Crawley and they are now on a total of 38 goals. SCUNTHORPE are still bottom of the league as they lost 1-0 at home to Oldham. That is now Scunthopre’s fifteenth blank of the season and now just two goals in their last seven games.

Our WORST three teams are 

SCUNTHORPE (21) BARNSLEY (22) CARISLE (23) Total of 66 goals 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership CELTIC are top here as they win 4-0 away to Motherwell. Celtic are one point in front of their rivals Rangers and they are now on a total of 65 goals and a goal run of seven games now. ABERDEEN lost 2-1 away to Livingston and they are on a total of 32 goals.

In League Two KELTY HEARTS are still ten points in front as they win 4-0 at home to Elgin City and they are now on a total of 64 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR won 2-0 away to Anna and they are on a total of 43 goals.

Our on-form team this week are now MANCHESTER CITY after scoring in all of their last fifteen League/Cup games. They have a total of 69 goals. 

Our worst team this week is BARNSLEY after they picked up a total of sixteen blank score sheets out of a total of thirty-one league/cup games. They have failed to score in their last four games. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season are OXFORD UNITED as they won 7-2 away to Gillingham in the league in Week Twenty-Six. FULHAM have now scored seven goals twice this season. They first won 7-0 away to Blackburn Rovers in the league in Week Fourteen and they have also won 7-0 away to Reading in the league in Week Twenty-Four. MANCHESTER CITY winning 7-0 at home to Leeds Utd in the league in Week Twenty. CHELSEA won 7-0 at home to Norwich in the league in Week Twelve. BRENTFORD won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the third round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Eight. 

We had another new leader to go to the top this weekend and it is PETER WELLARD. Peter becomes the seventh player to stay at number one this season and he did that by picking up a total of 7 goals from the weekend. Peter’s teams are Chelsea, Fulham and Manchester City. Lyanna Grimwood moves down to second place on goal difference this weekend as she picks up a total of 6 goals from the weekend. Lyanna had been top for two weeks and a total of three weeks over the season. Her teams are Fulham, Manchester City and Sunderland.

At the other end at 113 we still have ZIGGY (John Wood) again this weekend which is now his twenty-first consecutive weekend at the bottom and now twenty-three over the season. Ziggy picked up four goals from the weekend. His teams are Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir.

After a great weekend for goals the top ten has changed once again. The race is opened up a lot more this week.
