Week Thirty-One

Here we are with Week Thirty-One of the competition and we had three players to share the cash prize money of £5 this week. All of our winners are first timers for this season and so we now have a total of 31 winners. Our winners are PHIL COLLINS, STALKY (Bob Burgin) with his second combination and TIM WOOD all won on a score of 9 goals each. 

Phil started with us back in the 2004/05 Season on where he finished in 45th place with a total of 266 goals. He did manage to pick up one weekend win. Although Phil has not been in every season, he has been in most of them. Last season Phil finished in 44th place with 278 goals. This season Phil has been as high as 34th place in Week One. He has picked up a total of five blank weekend score sheets. 

Bob Joined Golden Goals back in the 2000/01 Season on where he finished in 38th place with a total of 266 goals. Last season he finished in 82nd place with 243 goals. This season Bob has been as high as 55th place in Week One. He has picked up four blank weekend score sheets.

It was the 1996/97 Season that Tim joined in and he finished in 43rd place with a total of 251 goals. Last season he finished in 83rd place with 243 goals. This season the highest that Tim has been is 16th place in Week Ten. He has picked up a total of five blank weekend score sheets. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Only 30 of us have managed to pick up some midweek goals again this week with another big change in the leading pack this week for the £40 cash prize money. Leading the race this week we now have NICK HORTON who moves up from third place now with a total of 74 goals. His teams are Manchester City, Middlesbrough and Norwich. In second place is last weeks leader JAMES BLYTH with a total of 73 goals. In third place with a total of 72 goals we have  COLIN WEBB down from two. In fourth place we still have TOBY BICKNELL our 2014/15 Champion, CHRIS DICKER and (me) STEVE REEVE. We are now joined with MARK GREGORY and RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion. All of us have a total of 70 goals. In fifth place we still have FIONA CARHTY with a total of 69 goals. In sixth place we still have CHRIS NUNN on a total of 68 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but five of our teams in action and out of the the ones that did play, 14 failed to score any goals. We once again had a good week for goals as the average score has remained at 5 goals this weekend for the third week running. So if you did better than that, well done. The highest score that we had came from two of our teams with 5 goals each. They were PETERBOROUGH and SALFORD CITY.

LEAGUE CUP FINAL

We had both of the teams in the final but it was MANCHESTER UNITED who picked up the cup after they won 2-0 against NEWCASTLE. United are on a total of 63 goals and a goal run of 23 games. Newcastle picked up their 9th blank of the season and now two games in a row with out a goal.

PREMIER LEAGUE

ARSENAL are still top of the table after they won 1-0 away to LEICESTER CITY. Arsenal are now on a total of 56 goals while Leicester picked up their 10th blank of the season and now two in a row.  MANCHESTER CITY are still in second place after they won 4-1 away to BOURNEMOUTH. City have taken their goals tally to 74 while Bournemouth picked up their 30th goal of the season. Manchester United are still in third place with TOTTENHAM still in fourth place after they won 2-0 at home against London rivals CHELSEA. Tottenham are on a total of 50 goals and a goal run of seven games. Chelsea picked up their 11th blank of the season and now two in a row and just three goals in their last nine games. ASTON VILLA won 2-0 away to EVERTON and are on a total of 37 goals and a goal run of 13 games. Everton picked up their 10th blank score sheet and now just two goals in their last five games. After a two game dry spell, LEEDS UNITED won 1-0 at home to Southampton and are on a total of 42 goals. WEST HAM picked up their biggest result of the season after they won 4-0 at home to Nottingham Forest. West Ham have taken their goals total to 28. CRYSTAL PALACE picked up their 11th blank of the season after they drew 0-0 at home to LIVERPOOL. Liverpool have now had a total of seven blank score sheets.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Top of the table BURNLEY won 4-0 at home to HUDDERSFIELD and they have taken their goals tally to 78 goals and a goal run of 7 games. Huddersfield  picked up their 14th blank of the season. SHEFFIELD UNITED in second place won 1-0 at home to WATFORD. United are now on a total of 63 goals. Watford have now had a total of 12 blank score sheets.

In the Play-Offs MIDDLESBROUGH are still in third place after they lost 2-0 away to WEST BROM. Brough picked up blank number eight. West Brom are on a total of 50 goals. LUTON are down to sixth place after they won 1-0 away to Birmingham. Luton hit goal number 47.

Meanwhile SUNDERLAND lost 2-1 away to Coventry. Sunderland are on a total of 54 goals and a goal run of 18 games. NORWICH won 2-0 at home to Cardiff and are on a total of 52 goals. READING are now on a total of 42 goals after they won 3-1 at home against Blackpool.

LEAGUE ONE

Top of the table SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY won 1-0 away to CHARLTON and they are on a total of 72 goals. Charlton picked up their 9th blank of the season and now two games in a row. PLYMOUTH are still in second place after they lost 5-2 away to PETERBOROUGH. Plymouth are on a total of 60 goals while Borough picked up their biggest win of the season and they have taken their goals tally to 59.

In the Play-Offs we still have IPSWICH in third place as they won 1-0 away to MK DONS. Ipswich have taken their goals tally to 73 goals. MK Dons picked up their 15th blank of the season. DERBY are down to sixth place after they lost 4-1 away to Barnsley. Derby are on a total of 66 goals.

Meanwhile BRISTOL ROVERS won 3-0 away to OXFORD UNITED and have taken their goals tally to 48. Oxford picked up their 14th blank score sheet and now two in a row. After a two game dry spell for goals, FOREST GREEN ROVERS drew 1-1 at home to LINCOLN CITY and they are on a total of 33 goals. Lincoln are on a total of 39 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

The highest teams that we have in this league are all in the Play-Offs. They are STOCKPORT COUNTY now in fifth place after a goal run of six games, they lost 1-0 away to Barrow. Stockport have picked up their 7th blank of the season. SALFORD CITY are up to sixth place after they picked up their biggest win of the season with a 5-2 away win against MANSFIELD TOWN. Salford have taken their goals tally up to 48 goals while Mansfield take their goals total to 54 and a goal run of 11 games but they are down to seventh place this weekend.

Meanwhile CRAWLEY TOWN second from bottom lost 5-2 at home to Carlisle and they are on a total of 39 goals. It’s 40 goals for BRADFORD CITY  after they won 1-0 away to Doncaster. GILLINGHAM are doing well now as they win 2-1 at home to AFC WIMBELDON. Gillingham are on a total of 30 goals while Wimbledon picked up goal number 37. SUTTON UNITED won 2-0 away to Newport and they are on a total of 36 goals. SWINDON won 3-0 at home to Harrogate and are now on a total of 43 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUE RESULTS

In the Scottish League Cup Final, Champions CELTIC who were last season’s holders, have done it once more as they beat RANGERS 2-1. Celtic have taken their goals total to 104 goals and a goal run of 24 games. Rangers are on 72 goals and a goal run of 25 games.

In the Premiership ABERDEEN won 1-0 at home to Livingston to take their goals total to 61.

In League One ALLOA won 1-0 at home to Montrose and they are on a total of 51 goals. KELTY HEARTS drew 1-1 away to Peterhead and they are now on a total of 34 goals.

In League Two BONNYRIGG ROSE lost 1-0 at home to STENHOUSEMUIR and picked up their 8th blank of the season. Stenhousemuir are on a total of 53 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 25 games.

Our best performing team are RANGERS as they have now scored in all of their last 25  league/cup games played. They have a total of 72 goals. That still gives them an average score of 2.2 goals per game.    

Our worst performing team is GILLINGHAM as they have picked up a total of 20 blank score sheets out of 40 League/Cup games played.     

Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are CELTIC who won 9-0 away to Dundee Utd in the league and LIVERPOOL who won 9-0 at home to Bournemouth in the league both from Week Five. 

Our 2010/11 Champion TONY GUY with combo two, has remained at the top for his 18th consecutive weekend. Tony picked up 4 goals this week from Arsenal, Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday and he is now just 2 goals in frontMark Gregory is back in second place this weekend as he picked up a total of 11 goals from his combination of Celtic, Manchester City and Norwich.

At the other end at 108 we have back down SANDRA NICHOLLS as she picked up just 2 goals for the week. Sandra’s teams are Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Leicester City. Sandra has now been here for a total of 16 weeks throughout the season. 

As you can see that there is a slight change in our top ten this weekend.
