Season 40 Nearly Done

While we are waiting on the last two games of the season which are the FA CUP and the SCOTTISH CUP finals, and before we send out our very last up date in our 40th Season of Golden Goals here is how our top six scoring teams have performed this season, although Celtic and Manchester City are both in the said finals.

Next week we will be giving you all the facts and figures from our 40th Season and there are a few records that have been broken this season. Our top 25 winners in the winning frame will be announced as well as our 40th Champion as they pick up the prize money of £240 this season.

United Could Finish Third

In the Premier League MANCHESTER UNITED won 4-1 at home against CHELSEA. United have moved up to third place are now on a total of 84 goals while Chelsea picked up goal number 37.

Crazy Results

 We have had some strange results last night as the season comes nearer to a close.

In the Premier League Champions MANCHESTER CITY drew 1-1 away to BRIGHTON and picked up their 116th goal of the season and a goal run of 19 games now. Brighton are on a total of 90 goals and a goal run of 8 games. 

In the Scottish Premiership, Champions CELTIC lost 4-2 away to HIBERNIAN. They have now won just one game in their last five league games. Celtic are on a total of 135 goals while Hibs have taken their goals total up to 66. Second place RANGERS drew 2-2 at home to HEARTS. Rangers are on a total of 104 goals while Hearts are on a total of 67. ABERDEEN in third place won 3-0 at home to St Mirren and they have taken their goals tally to 77.

Leicester Could be Relegated After Draw

In the Premier League third place NEWCASTLE drew 0-0 at home to third from bottom LEICESTER CITY. That now gives Newcastle a total of thirteen blank score sheets while Leicester picked up their fourteenth and now they have failed to score in their last two games and look certain to be relegated. 

Week Forty-Three

In Week Forty-Three of the competition and we are still in to injury time here at Golden Goals.

We had one player that picked up the most number of goals this weekend with 6. They are STALKY (1) Bob Burgin with Leicester City, Rangers and West Ham. All but one of us managed to pick up some more goals this week. 

This week we see our first player drop out of the competition as all of his teams have finished their season. It is LUCIFER (John Wood) with Alloa, Bonnyrigg Rose and Stenhousemuir. 

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Just over half of us managed to pick up some more midweek goals, but it is still JAMES BLYTH well out in front with a total of 112 goals. His teams are Ipswich, Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday. We now have a total of 12 players that have reached 100 goals this week. We had two players that picked up the most number of goals from their combos and they are CHRIS BOLBERY with Liverpool, Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday and SIMON DICKINSON with Celtic, Liverpool and Sheffield Wednesday. Both picked up a total of 8 goals.

In second place we still have CHRIS NUNN but he is now joined with TOBY BICKNELL our 2014/15 Champion and CHRIS BOLBERY our 2017/18 Champion all with a total of 104 goals each. In third place we still have TIM WOOD but now with GEOFF CARTHY both with a total of 103 goals. In fourth place we still have SAMUEL STEPHENS but now with NICK HORTON and RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion all with a total of 101 goals. In fifth place with 100 goals we still have CHRIS DICKER. In sixth place this week we still have KEITH THOMSON and coming back in we have SIMON DICKINSON both with a total of 99 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We only had just 22 of our teams in action and out of the the ones that did play, only 3 failed to score any goals. Our top teams did not score many goals this weekend, with Manchester City and Liverpool picking up just one goal each and Chelsea failed to score. In all we did not have a bad weekend as we had three teams that picked up the highest score with 3 goals each. They are BRIGHTON, RANGERS (once again) and WEST HAM. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

Congratulations to MANCHESTER CITY as they are confirmed as Champions for a third season in a row. City won 1-0 at home to CHELSEA. City still have a game in hand as they take their goals total to 115 and a goal run of 18 games. Chelsea have picked up their 16th blank of the season. ARSENAL lost 1-0 away to Nottingham Forest and that is their 5th blank of the season and now two games in a row. Newcastle are still in third place on goal difference as MANCHESTER UNITED win 1-0 away to BOURNEMOUTH. United are on a total of 80 goals as Bournemouth picked up their 18th blank and now two in a row. LIVERPOOL in fifth place drew 1-1 at home to ASTON VILLA. Liverpool are on a total of 77 goals and a goal run of 9 games now. Villa are on a total of 56 goals. TOTTENHAM lost 3-1 at home to Brentford and they are on a total of 70 goals. FULHAM drew 2-2 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE and they are on a total of 62 goals while Palace are on 44 goals. EVERTON drew 1-1 away to Wolves and picked up their 36th goal of the season. WEST HAM have escaped relegation after they won 3-1 at home to LEEDS UNITED. West Ham have now taken their goals tally to 47 goals while Leeds picked up their 60th goal of the season. BRIGHTON won 3-1 at home to bottom of the table Southampton and they have taken their goals total to 89 and a goal run of 7 games. 

LEAGUE TWO PLAY-OFFS 

STOCKPORT COUNTY lost their first leg game to SALFORD CITY 1-0 but they then won their second leg game 2-1 at home. The tie ended 2-2 and even after extra time the score remained the same. Stockport then went on to win 3-1 on penalties. Stockport who had finished in fourth place in the league have taken their goals total to 78 while Salford finished their season on a total of 75 goals. Stockport County will be playing Carlisle United at Wembley on the 28th May.

In the other play-off, BRADFORD CITY had won their first leg 1-0 at home to Carlisle Utd but it all went wrong in their second leg game as they lost 3-1 after extra time and 3-2 on aggregate. Bradford finished on a total of 65 goals and a goal run of 6 games. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUE RESULTS

In the Premiership Champions CELTIC drew 2-2 at home to St Mirren. Celtic have won just two of their last five games. They are now on a total of 133 goals. RANGERS in second place won 3-1 away to HIBERNIAN and have become our fourth team to pick up over 100 goals this season. Rangers have taken their goals total to 102 goals while Hibs are on a total of 63 goals. HEARTS won 2-1 at home to ABERDEEN in third place. Hearts in fourth are on a total of 65 goals while Aberdeen picked up goal number 74.

Our WORST three teams are 

CHELSEA (36) EVERTON (36) FOREST GREEN ROVERS (38) Total of 110 goals

Our best performing team are now MANCHESTER CITY as they have now scored in all of their last 18 league/cup games played. They have a total of 115 goals. That gives them an average score of 2.6 goals per game. 

Our worst performing team is GILLINGHAM as they have picked up a total of 24 blank score sheets out of their 54 League/Cup games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are CELTIC who won 9-0 away to Dundee Utd in the league and LIVERPOOL winning 9-0 at home to Bournemouth in the league both from Week Five. 

JAMES BLYTH has remained at the top this weekend, after picking up a total of 6 goals this week. This is his fourth weekend there and now five over the season. His teams are Ipswich, Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday. James is still climbing up our Champions League and is now in 10th place this week. He has now beaten Tony Patman’s total of 322 goals from the 1999/00 Season. Also Ian Sweeney’s total of 326 goals in the 1985/86 Season and Pete Christopher’s score of 327 goals in our very first season of 1983/84. Our 2010/11 Champion Tony Guy with combo two, is still in second place. Tony picked up a total of 7 goals this week from Arsenal, Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday and he is now 8 goals behind James.

At the other end at 108 we still have  JOHN NICHOLLS there. John picked up a total of  just 2 goals at the weekend. John has now been at 108 for a total of five weeks over the season. John’s teams are Bristol Rovers, Everton and Leeds United. John is currently now up to in 35th place in our Loser’s League and has beaten Richard Lloyd’s score of 154 goals from the 1993/94 Season.

Just a slight change in the race to become our 40th Champion here at Golden Goals.

Wednesday in Play-off Finals

In the Premier League NEWCASTLE won 4-1 at home against BRIGHTON. Newcastle are still in third place but have now taken their goals tally to 76. Brighton picked up their 86th goal of the season and a goal run  of 6 games now.

In the League One play-off’s PETERBOROUGH won their first leg tie against SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 4-0 at home. In the second leg Sheffield Wednesday won 4-0 after the full 90 minutes, but after extra time the score was 5-1 to Wednesday (5-5 on aggregate) Then on to penalties where Wednesday won 5-3. Wednesday have taken their goals tally to 99 goals while Peterborough end their season on a total of 86 goals. Sheffield Wednesday will play either Bolton or or Barnsley at Wembley on 29th May.

Luton and Coventry in Championship Final

In the other Championship Play-off, MIDDLESBROUGH had a goalless first leg game against Coventry City and they could not find the goal in the second leg game either as they lost 1-0 at home. Middlesbrough lost 1-0 on aggregate. Middlesbrough finished in fourth place in the league as they picked up their 11th blank of the season. In fact they have scored just one goal in their last four games. They end their season on a total of 85 goals. Coventry will play Luton at Wembley on 27th May.

Luton in Championship Final

In the Championship Play-Offs, LUTON went 2-1 down in the first leg game against SUNDERLAND and then they came back to win 2-0 at home in the second leg. Luton are in the finals 3-2 on aggregate. Luton have taken their goals total to 67 while Sunderland after a goal run of 8 games, picked up their 9th blank of the season and they finished the season with a total of 75 goals.

Liverpool Win Last Seven Games

 In the Premier League LIVERPOOL are still in fifth place after they won 3-0 away to LEICESTER CITY. Liverpool are now on a total of 76 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 8 games. Leicester after they had scored in all of their last five games, picked up their 13th blank of the season and now face relegation.

Week Forty-Two

In Week Forty-Two of the competition and we are still in to injury time here at Golden Goals as the goals keep coming in. We had two players that picked up the most number of goals with 7 each. They are MICHAEL FISHER with Chelsea 2, Manchester City 3 and Manchester United 2. ROBERT FULLER with Chelsea 2, Manchester City 3 and Sunderland 2. We had 11 players that failed to get any goals this weekend although five of them did pick up some midweek goals. 100

Just under half of us managed to pick up some more midweek goals, but it is still JAMES BLYTH out in front with a total of 107. His teams are Ipswich, Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday.  We still have just three players that have reached 100 goals. In second place we still have NICK HORTON and CHRIS NUNN now with a total of 101 goals each. In third place we still have TOBY BICKNELL our 2014/15 Champion but now with TIM WOOD both with a total of 99 goals. In fourth place we have SAMUEL STEPHENS with a total of 98 goals. In fifth place with 97 goals we have CHRIS DICKER and GEOFF CARTHY. In sixth place this week we still have CHRIS BOLBERY our 2017/18 Champion and RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion and coming back in KEITH THOMSON all with a total of 96 goals.

Everton picked up their 14th blank score sheet. After a goal run of  15 games, ARSENAL lost 3-0 at home to BRIGHTON to pick up their 4th blank of the season. Arsenal are now four points behind City. Brighton are now on a total of 85 goals. NEWCASTLE are still third after they drew 2-2 away to LEEDS UNITED and have taken their goals total to 72. Leeds are on a total of 59 goals and a goal run of 11 games. After they failed to score in their last two games, MANCHESTER UNITED are still in fourth place after they  won 2-0 at home against Wolves. United are on a total of 79 goals. Liverpool in fifth place even though they had no game over the weekend. After they had failed to score in their previous two games, ASTON VILLA won 2-1 at home to TOTTENHAM and are on a total of 55 goals while Tottenham are on 69 and a goal run of 10 games. CHELSEA drew 2-2 at home to Nottingham Forest and are on a total of 36 goals. It’s 40 goals for CRYSTAL PALACE after they won 2-0 at home to AFC BOURNEMOUTH. Bournemouth picked up their 17th blank of the season. FULHAM won 2-0 away to Southampton and they are on a total of 61 goals. WEST HAM lost 2-0 away to Brentford and picked up their 13th blank of the season.

CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY-OFFS

In their first leg games, SUNDERLAND won their first game 2-1 at home against LUTON TOWN. Sunderland are on a total of 75 goals while Luton hit goal number 65. MIDDLESBROUGH drew 0-0 away to Coventry and that is their 10th blank of the season.

LEAGUE TWO PLAY-OFFS 

SALFORD CITY won 1-0 at home to STOCKPORT COUNTY and are on a total of 74 goals while Stockport after a goal run of 11 games, picked up their 10th blank of the season. BRADFORD CITY won their first leg 1-0 at home to Carlisle Utd and they are on a total of 64 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUE RESULTS

In the Premiership Champions CELTIC lost their second league game of the season, 3-0 away to their rivals RANGERS. Celtic after a goal run of 34 league/cup games, it all comes to an end with their second blank of the season. Rangers have taken their goals total to 99 goals. ABERDEEN in third place drew 0-0 at home to HIBERNIAN in fifth place. Aberdeen have now picked up their 10th blank of the season and now two games in a row. Hibernian picked up their 9th blank score sheet after a goal run of 12 games. HEARTS in fourth place drew 2-2 away to St Mirren and they are on a total of 63 goals. 

In the League One Play-offs ALLOA lost their second leg game 5-2 away to Hamilton and go out 5-3 on aggregate. Alloa finished the season on a total of 68 goals.

At the other end at 108 we now have  JOHN NICHOLLS back down there. John picked up a total of  7 goals for the week. John has now been at 108 for a total of 4 weeks over the season. John’s teams are Bristol Rovers, Everton and Leeds United. John is currently in 36th place in our Loser’s League.

Not much of a change in the top ten this weekend.

Peterborough Win First leg

 In the League One Play-off 1st leg game, PETERBOROUGH won 4-0 at home against SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. Peterborough have taken their goals tally up to 85 goals while Wednesday, after a goal run of nine games, picked up their 7th blank of the season.

Alloa takes the lead in Play-Off's

In the Scottish Championship play-offs 1st leg game, ALLOA won 1-0 at home to Hamilton. Alloa are on a total of 66 goals.

Burnley and Sheffield United Promoted

In the Premier League FULHAM picked up their biggest result of the season as they won 5-3 at home to LEICESTER CITY. Fulham have taken their goals tally to 59 goals while Leicester are on 58 goals. EVERTON also picked up their biggest result of the season after they won 5-1 away to BRIGHTON. Everton are now on a total of 35 goals while Brighton picked up goal number 82. 

Championship

In the last games of the season promoted BURNELY won 3-0 at home to Cardiff City and have finished on a total of 98 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED will be joining them as they win 2-1 away to Birmingham to keep in second place. United finished with a total of 85 goals.

In the Play-Offs we have three of the four teams. They are LUTON in third place after they drew 0-0 at home to Hull. Luton have picked up their 11th blank score sheet after a goal run of five games. MIDDLESBROUGH have finished in fourth place after they drew 1-1 at home against Coventry. Middlesbrough are on a total of 85 goals. SUNDERLAND have moved in to sixth place after they won 3-0 away to Preston. Sunderland have taken their goals tally to 73 goals and a goal run of seven games now.

Meanwhile HUDDERSFIELD won 2-0 at home to READING. Huddersfield have finished on a total of 49 goals. Reading picked up their 16th blank of the season and are relegated to league one with a total of 50 goals. NORWICH lost 1-0 at home to Blackpool and have had a total of sixteen blank score sheet and finished on a total of 61 goals. SWANSEA won their last game 3-2 at home to WEST BROM and finished with a total of 72 goals and a goal run of six games. West Brom finished on a total of 65 goals. WATFORD finished on a total of 56 goals after they won 2-0 at home to Stoke. 

League One

The highest team that we had here are STOCKPORT COUNTY who finished in fourth place. They drew 1-1 at home to Hartlepool and are on a of 76 goals and a goal run of eleven games now. Also in the play-off’s we have BRADFORD CITY in sixth place after they drew 1-1 at home to Leyton Orient. Bradford are on a total of 63 goals. SALFORD CITY finished in seventh place after they lost 1-0 at home to GILLINGHAM. Salford picked up their 13th blank of the season. Gillingham finished on a total of 45 goals and a goal run of 10 games.

Meanwhile MANSFIELD TOWN just missed out the play-off’s as they win 2-0 away to Colchester. Mansfield finished on a total of 75 goals and a goal run of 9 games. AFC WIMBLEDON lost 1-0 away to Grimsby and picked up their 17th blank of the season and end with a total of 52 goals. SUTTON UNITED drew 1-1 at home to Carlisle and finished with a total of 46 goals. SWINDON won 2-1 at home to CRAWLEY TOWN and finished on a total of 61 goals. Crawley finished on a total of 53 goals.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

We already know that JAMES BLYTH won the £40 Midweek Jackpot last week. But the race is on to find who will finish with the most number of midweek goals. Well James picked up another 3 goals this week taking his total to 107. His teams are Ipswich, Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday. Most of us have managed to pick up some midweek goals again this week and here is the top six players as two more players have reached 100 goals. We had two players once again that picked up the most number of midweek goals with 7 each. They are DANNY HARRINGTON and ZIGGY (John Wood) Here are the rest of the players that are nearly there.

In second place we still have NICK HORTON now with a total of 100 goals and he is joined with CHRIS NUNN also with 100 goals. In third place we still have TOBY BICKNELL our 2014/15 Champion with a total of 99 goals. In fourth place we have SAMUEL STEPHENS with a total of 98 goals. In fifth place with 97 goals we have CHRIS DICKER. In sixth place this week we have CHRIS BOLBERY our 2017/18 Champion and RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion both are on a total of 96 goals.

With the season now coming to an end, are there going to be any surprises in the final table. We did not have a bad weekend and as everyone by one picked up some more goals. The highest score that we had came from BONNYRIGG ROSE, CHELSEA and PLYMOUTH where they all picked up a total of three goals each.

MANCHESTER CITY are still top after they won 2-1 at home to LEEDS UNITED. City still have a game in hand as they take their goals total to 111 and a goal run of sixteen games. ARSENAL are still one point behind City as they win 2-0 away to NEWCASTLE. Arsenal are on a total of 87 goals while Newcastle are still third as they pick up their 12th blank of the season. MANCHESTER UNITED are still in fourth place after they lost 1-0 away to WEST HAM. That is now United’s 8th blank score sheet and now two games without a goal. West Ham hit goal number 44. LIVERPOOL in fifth place won 1-0 at home to Brentford. Liverpool are on a total of 73 goals. AFC BOURNEMOUTH lost 3-1 at home to CHELSEA and picked up gaol number 45. Chelsea have taken their goals tally to 34. TOTTENHAM won 1-0 against CRYSTAL PALACE and they are on a total of 68 goals while Palace picked up their 17th blank of the season. ASTON VILLA lost 2-0 away to Wolves and picked up their 8th blank of the season and now two games in a row.

LEAGUE ONE

Promoted PLYMOUTH won their last league game 3-1 away to Port Vale. Plymouth have taken their goals tally to 83 goals and a goal run of six games. IPSWICH in second place are also promoted drew their last game 2-2 away to Fleetwood Town. Ipswich are on a total of 113 goals and have extended their goal run to fifteen games.

In the Play-Offs we have just two of the four teams here. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY in third place won 1-0 at home to DERBY and they are now on a total of 94 goals and a goal run of nine games. Derby move out of the play-off’s as they picked up their 15th blank of the season after a goal run of six games. PETERBOROUGH have moved back in to the play-off’s after they won 2-0 away to Barnsley. Borough are on a total of 81 goals after they had failed to score in their last two games.

Meanwhile BRISTOL ROVERS lost 3-2 at home to Bolton and finished with a total of 59 goals. MK DONS drew 0-0 away to Burton and that is their 19th blank of the season. Relegated FOREST GREEN ROVERS lost 2-0 away to Cambridge Utd and they have had a total of 21 blank score sheets. CHARLTON drew 2-2 away to Cheltenham and they finished on a total of 80 goals. SCOTTISH LEAGUE RESULTS

In the Premiership Champions CELTIC won 2-0 away to fourth place HEARTS. Celtic are now on a total of 131 goals. Hearts picked up their 14th blank of the season. RANGERS in second place won 1-0 at home to ABERDEN in third place. Rangers after they failed to score in their last two games, are now on a total of 96 goals. Aberdeen picked up their 9th blank score sheet after a goal run of seven games. HIBERNIAN won 2-1 at home to St Mirren and they are on a total of 61 goals and have now scored in all of their last 12 games.

In League One ALLOA are still in fourth place after they lost 2-0 at home to Dunfermline. Alloa have now had a total of eleven blank score sheets. KELTY HEARTS lost 4-1 away to Queen of South and they are on a total of 42 goals.

In League Two, STENHOUSEMUIR won 2-1 at home to Anna and they are now on a total of 64 goals. BONNYRIGG ROSE won 3-0 at home to Elgin and they have now taken their goals tally to 43.

Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are CELTIC who won 9-0 away to Dundee Utd in the league and LIVERPOOL winning 9-0 at home to Bournemouth in the league both from Week Five. JAMES BLYTH has remained at the top this weekend, after picking up a total of 8 goals this week. This is the second weekend there and now three over the season. His teams are Ipswich, Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday. James has been climbing up our Champions League and is now in 12th place this week.

Our 2010/11 Champion Tony Guy with combo two, is still in second place. Tony also picked up a total of 8 goals this week from Arsenal, Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday and he is still 6 goals behind James.

At the other end at 108 we now have  SANDRA NICHOLLS back down there. Sandra picked up a total of  just 2 goals for the week. She has now been at 108 for a total of 22 weeks over the season. Sandra’s last stayed there in Week 36. Sandra’s  teams are Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Leicester City

United Drop Points

In the Premier League BRIGHTON won 1-0 at home to MANCHESTER UNITED with a last minute penalty. Brighton are on a total of 81 goals while United remain in 4th place as they pick up their 7th blank of the season. 

In the Championship, HUDDERSFIELD won 1-0 at home to second place SHEFFIELD UNITED. Huddersfield are on a total of 47 goals as United picked up their 11th blank of the season.

All Change at the Top

In the Premier League, MANCHESTER CITY have returned to the top of the table after they won 3-1 at home against WEST HAM. City are one point clear of Arsenal in second place with a game in hand. City have taken their goals tally up to 109 and a goal run of fifteen games. West Ham after they had scored in all of their last eight games, picked up their 12th blank of the season. LIVERPOOL in fifth place won 1-0 at home against FULHAM. As Liverpool picked up goal number 72 and a goal run of six games now, Fulham picked up their 10th blank of the season. 

In League Two BRADFORD CITY remain in the play-offs after they lost 3-2 away to Crewe. City are on a total of 62 goals.

Arsenal Back on Top

In the Premier League, ARSENAL are back at the top as they win 3-1 at home to London rivals CHELSEA. Arsenal have taken their goals total to 85 and have extended their goal run to fourteen games. Chelsea picked up goal number 31. 

In League One after they had failed to score in their last three games, BRISTOL ROVERS lost 2-1 away to Shrewsbury and they are on a total of 57 goals.

Three more Results

In the Premier League LEICESTER CITY drew 2-2 at home to EVERTON. City are on a total of 55 goals while Everton are on 30. 

In the Championship MIDDLESBROUGH lost 1-0 away to Rotherham and that is their 9th blank of the season after a goal run of ten games. LUTON drew 1-1 away to Blackburn Rovers and are on a total of 64 goals.

Week Forty

In Week Forty of the competition and we are now in to injury time here at Golden Goals. We had our very last weekend winner in our 40th Season this week with the full £5 going to STUART KEMP with his first selection. Stuart picked up a total of 13 goals which is his best weekend score to date and he becomes our 36th winner of the season. Stuart has been with us for a long time now and last season he finished in 43rd place with combo one with a total of 279 goals. His second combo finished in 33rd place with 285 goals. This season Stuart has picked up six blank weekend score sheets and 39th place is his highest with this combo in Week Twenty. 100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Congratulations to JAMES BLYTH who has now won the £40 Midweek Jackpot in our 40th Season. As he picks up another 7 goals.  James is the first player to reach 100 goals with his teams of Ipswich, Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday. He now has a total of 104 goals. Most of us have managed to pick up some midweek goals again this week and here is the top six players. Although the season is not over yet, how many more of us will hit 100 goals. We had two players that picked up the most number of midweek goals with 10 each. They are LYANNA GRIMWOOD and SCOTT THOMSON (1)

Here are the rest of the players that nearly made it there. In second place we still have NICK HORTON now with a total of 97 goals. In third place we still have TOBY BICKNELL our 2014/15 Champion plus CHRIS NUNN moving up from fourth place both with a total of 96 goals.  In fourth place we have SAMUEL STEPHENS coming in with a total of 94 goals. In fifth place with 93 goals we have CHRIS DICKER coming back in with RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion moving down from four. In sixth place this week we still have JUNE TIGHE  but joining her this week we have CHRIS BOLBERY coming back in and KEITH THOMSON moving down from four. All are on a total of 92 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but nine of our teams in action and out of the the ones that did play, only 8 failed to score any goals. Once again we did have a couple of  high scoring results this weekend and as everyone by one picked up some goals. Last weekend the average score was four goals. This weekend the average score went back up to 6 goals.

The highest score that we had came from BRIGHTON and IPSWICH where both teams picked up a total of six goals each.

PREMIER LEAGUE

MANCHESTER CITY are now top after they won 2-1 away to FULHAM. City are now one point in front of Arsenal in second place who had no game this week. City still have a game in hand as they take their goals total to 106 and a goal run of fourteen games. Fulham picked up goal number 54. NEWCATLE are still third after they won 3-1 at home to Southampton. Newcastle are now on a total of 70 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED are still in fourth place after they won 1-0 at home to ASTON VILLA. United are on a total of 77 goals while Villa picked up their 7th blank of the season after a goal run of 22 games. After they had failed to score in their last two games, CRYSTAL PALACE won 4-3 at home to WEST HAM. Palace have taken their goals tally to 38 goals while West Ham are now on a total of 43 and a goal run of eight games. BRIGHTON picked up their biggest result of the season as they won 6-0 at home against Wolves. Brighton are now on a total of 80 goals. AFC BOURNEMOUTH won 4-1 at home to LEEDS UNITED. Bournemouth are now on a total of 44 goals while Leeds are on 56 and a goal run of nine games. LIVERPOOL won 4-3 at home to TOTTENHAM. Liverpool have taken their goals tally up to 71 while Tottenham are now on a total of 67 goals and a goal run of 8 games.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Promoted BURNLEY won 2-1 away to Bristol City and have taken their goals total to 95 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED remained in second place after they won 4-1 at home against Preston. United have taken their goals tally up to 83 goals.

In the Play-Offs Luton are still in third place with Middlesbrough in fourth place.

Meanwhile SWANSEA drew 1-1 away to Hull and hit goal number 69. It’s 50 goals for READING after they drew 1-1 at home to Wigan. It’s 70 goals for SUNDERLAND as they drew 2-2 at home to WATFORD. Sunderland have now scored in all of their last six games. Watford are on 54 goals. WEST BROM won 2-1 at home against NORWICH and they are on a total of 63 goals. Norwich are on 61 goals. HUDDERSFIELD won 2-1 away to Cardiff and they are on a total of 46 goals.

LEAGUE ONE

PLYMOUTH are promoted and still of the top of the table after they won 1-0 at home to Burton. Plymouth have taken their goals tally to 80 goals. IPSWICH in second place are also promoted after they won 6-0 at home against Exeter. Ipswich are on a total of 111 goals and have extended their goal run to fourteen games.

In the Play-Offs SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are still in third place after they won 3-1 away to Shrewsbury and they are now on a total of 93 goals and a goal run of eight games. DERBY are still in sixth place after they drew 1-1 at home to Portsmouth. Derby are on a total of 82 goals and a goal run of six games now.

Meanwhile CHARLTON won 3-2 at home to Port Vale and are now on a total of 78 goals. Relegated FOREST GREEN ROVERS lost 3-0 at home to OXFORD UNITED and that is their 20th blank of the season. Oxford have taken their goals total to 56 goals. After they had failed to score in their previous two games, MK DONS drew 4-4 at home to Barnsley and they have taken their goals tally to 57. LINCOLN CITY lost 3-2 away to Morecambe and they are on a total of 55 goals. PETERBOROUGH drew 0-0 at home to BRISTOL ROVERS and that is their 16th blank and now two games in a row. Rovers picked up their 15th blank of the season and now three games in a row.

LEAGUE TWO

The highest team that we have here are still in the Play-Offs in fourth place where STOCKPORT COUNTY won 3-0 away to Leyton Orient. Stockport are now on a total of 75 goals and a goal run of ten games. SALFORD CITY have remained in sixth place after they won 3-2 away to Carlisle and they have taken their goals tally to 73. BRADFORD CITY are still in seventh place after they won 2-1 away to Northampton. Bradford are on a total of 60 goals.

Meanwhile MANSFIELD TOWN lost 2-1 at home to Harrogate. Mansfield are on a total of 73 goals and a goal run of eight games. AFC WIMBELDON drew 1-1 at home to Tranmere and they are on a total of 52 goals. CRAWLEY TOWN drew 0-0 at home to Walsall to pick up their 17th blank of the season. SWINDON lost 2-1 away to Crewe and they are on a total of 59 goals. GILLINGHAM lost 2-1 at home against Newport and are on a total of 44 goals. SUTTON UNITED lost 4-1 away to Rochdale and are on a total of 45 goals.

In the SCOTTISH CUP Semi-Finals CELTIC won 1-0 away to RANGERS and are through to the Cup finals against Inverness CT. Celtic pick up goal number 129 while Rangers picked up their 3rd blank of the season and now they have failed to score in their last two games.

In League One ALLOA are still in fourth place after they won 4-0 away to Montrose. Alloa are on a total of 65 goals. KELTY HEARTS won 2-1 at home to Peterhead and they are on a total of 41 goals.

At the other end at 108 we have  JOHN NICHOLLS in his third weekend there. John picked up a total of  just 3 goals once again for the week. John’s  teams are  Bristol Rovers, Everton and Leeds United.

Getting a new leader this weekend has made things a bit more interesting as we are now in injury time. The top ten has not changed much once again this week so who is going to win the £240 Cash Prize Money.
