Week Seventeen

In Week Seventeen of the competition we had our third Rollover of the season worth £10 and that went to our 18th winner of the season with 11 goals. They are SCOTT THOMSON with his second selection. Scott started with Golden Goals back in the 2006/07 Season. In his first season he finished in the winning frame in 17th place with a total of 261 goals. For a few season’s now Scott has entered two selections. Last season his best was from his second selection in 41st place with 274 goals. His first selection finished in 63rd place with 256 goals. This season Scott has reach that number one spot at last. He has picked up just one blank score sheet with Peterborough being his best team to date. His winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Not many of us have picked up goals in midweek and the race for the cash has not changed this week at all. Still out in front this week we have ANN WELLARD with a total of 41 goals. In second place we still have TONY KING with a total of 40 goals. In third place we still have our 2017/18 Champion CHRIS BOLBERY with a total of 37 goals. In fourth place we still have ANDY EYLES and MARK GREGORY both with a total of 36 goals. In fifth place we still have BAILEY MORAN and PETER PORTER both are on a total of 35 goals. In sixth place we have JAMES SOMERVILLE with a total of 34 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but five of our teams in action over the weekend and out of the ones that did play 5 failed to score any goals. We did not have a really good weekend for goals as the average score this weekend was just 4 goals.

The highest score that we had came from League Two where WREXHAM picked up their highest score of the season after they won 6-0 at home to Morecambe. Wrexham have taken their goals tally up to 39 goals.

Wrexham became our 99th voted English team back in our 2002/03 Season on where they finished on a total of 86 goals which is their best end of season total. Last time that we had Wrexham was back in the 2005/06 Season where they finished on a total of 62 goals. This is their third season with Golden Goals and over the season they have netted a total of 185 goals to date. That gives them an average score of 61 goals per season. This season they have a total of 9 votes and they have picked up just four blank score sheets. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

ARSENAL are top of the league after they won 1-0 away to Brentford which is their 29th goal of the season. MANCHESTER CITY are in second place after they drew 1-1 at home to LIVERPOOL. City are on a total of 33 goals while Liverpool have kept their 100% scoring record after 15 league/cup games. They are also on a total of 33 goals. WEST HAM won 2-1 away to bottom of the table Burnley and are on a total of 27 goals. CRYSTAL PALACE lost 2-1 away to Luton and are on a total of 17 goals. NEWCASTLE won 4-1 at home to CHELSEA and have taken their goals tally to 35. Chelsea hit goal number 27. NOTTINGHAM FOREST lost 3-2 at home to BRIGHTON and are on a total of 16 goals while Brighton are now on a total of 28 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. BOURNEMOUTH won 3-1 away to Sheffield United and are now on a total of 20 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. TOTTENHAM lost 2-1 at home to ASTON VILLA and are on a total of 26 goals and have managed to keep their 100% scoring record after a total of 14 league/cup games. Villa are on a total of 32 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED won 3-0 away to Everton and are now on a total of 19 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP

LEICESTER CITY are still top here after they won 2-0 at home against Watford. Leicester are on a total of 36 goals. IPSWICH TOWN are in second place after they lost 2-0 away to West Brom. After they had scored in all of their 20 league/cup games, Ipswich pick up their first blank of the season. BRISTOL CITY won 3-2 at home to MIDDLESBROUGH and they are now on  a total of 24 goals. Brough are on a total of 36 goals. SOUTHAMPTON drew 1-1 away to Huddersfield and that is goal number 29 for them. NORWICH won 1-0 at home to QPR and are on a total of 33 goals. PLYMOUTH won 2-0 at home to SUNDERLAND and are on a total of 33 goals. Sunderland picked up their sixth blank of the season. STOKE lost 3-0 at home to Blackburn Rovers and that is their tenth blank of the season and now 3 games in a row without a goal. SWANSEA drew 2-2 at home to Hull and are on a total of 29 goals. Bottom of the table SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY lost 2-1 away to Birmingham and that is goal number 10 after they had failed to score in their last two games.

LEAGUE ONE

PETERBOROUGH are our highest team here in fifth place. They won 4-0 at home to Burton. Peterborough are doing really well on the goals front as they are now on a total of 45 goals with 14 of them coming from their last four games. CHARLTON drew 1-1 away to Carlisle and they are on a total of 36 goals. DERBY won 2-1 at home to BRISTOL ROVERS and are on a total of 33 goals and a goal run of 7 league/cup games. Rovers are on a total of 30 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. BARNSLEY drew 2-2 away to Lincoln City. Barnsley are on a total of 41 goals. BLACKPOOL won 4-0 away to Portsmouth and they have taken their goals tally to 36. Bottom of the table READING, won 2-1 away to Wycombe and they are on a total of 26 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. That was Readings fourth league win of the season.

LEAGUE TWO

Wrexham have moved up to second place after their big win with NOTTS COUNTY down to sixth place. They lost 4-2 away to AFC WIMBLEDON. County are on a total of 42 goals while Wimbledon have taken their goals total to 37 goals. SUTTON UNITED drew 1-1 away to Grimsby and are on a total of 31 goals and have extended their goal run to 9 league/cup games. SALFORD CITY lost 4-2 at home to MK DONS and are on a total of 39 goals. The Dons are now on a total of 32 goals.

SCOTTISH RESULTS

In the SCOTTISH CUP third round we had another 3 of our teams in action. The good news is that they are all through to the next round. They are FALKIRK who won 3-0 at home to non-league Formartine United and are now on a total of 42 goals. KELTY HEARTS won 2-0 away to Hamilton and they are on a total of 35 goals. COVE RANGERS won 2-0 away to Stirling and are on a total of 34 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games.

In the Premiership top of the table CELTIC drew 1-1 at home to Motherwell and are on a total of 35 goals. Second place RANGERS drew 1-1 away to ABERDEEN with a very late penalty. They are now 8 points behind leaders Celtic. They have extended their goal run to 11 league/cup games and have a total of 36 goals. Aberdeen are on a total of 20 goals. HIBERNIAN won 2-1 away to Dundee and are on a total of 26 goals. ROSS COUNTY drew 0-0 at home to KILMARNOCK and picked up their seventh blank of the season and now they have failed to score in their last 3 games. Kilmarnock picked up their fourth blank and now two in a row.

Our Best performing team are now PETERBOROUGH after they have now scored in all of their 18 league/cup games. They have a total of 45 goals which gives them an average score of 1.8 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY this week as they have picked up 11 blank score sheets out of their 19 league/cup games.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 41st Season are NEWCASTLE UNITED after they won 8-0 away to Sheffield United in Week Eight. BARNSLEY and BRISTOL ROVERS have both pick up our second highest score with 7 goals. Barnsley won 7-0 at home to Port Vale in the first league game of the season in Week One. Bristol Rovers won 7-2 at home to non-league Whitby Town in the first round of the FA CUP in Week Fourteen.

SCOTT THOMSON (2) now becomes our fifth player to reach number one this season. Scott picked up a total of 11 goals this week from his second selection of Celtic 1, Peterborough 4, Wrexham 6. Lucifer (John Wood) moves down to second place this week and 3 goals behind Scott, as he picked up a total of just 3 goals from the weekend. Lucifer’s teams are Ipswich, Manchester City and Salford City.

At the other end at 110 we still have our 2012/13 Champion ALICE STUBBS  with her first selection. Alice picked up just 3 goals all coming from the weekend and has now been there for 3 weeks. Alice has Celtic, Sheffield Wednesday and Southampton. 

It's all change in our top ten this weekend and the race to be our 41st Champion is still out there to have.
