Week Thirty-One

In Week Thirty-One of the competition we had a total of 6 players that picked up the highest score of 8 goals each. But under the competition rules, we can only have the maximum of four winners, so we will have our fifth Rollover of the season next weekend worth £10. 

Our top scorers this weekend were STEVE AYRES, ANDY EYLES, STUART KEMP (2), CHRIS NUNN, GRAHAM PHILLIPS and our 2007/08 Champion RICKY WOOD. 

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

All of us have managed to pick up a hand full of goal this week and the race for the cash has changed again this week. The highest amount of goals collected this week came from two of our players with 12 goals each. They are ANDREW HAMMOND with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City. SCOTT THOMSON (1) with Liverpool, Manchester City and Notts County.

In first place this week we still have DOUG MORBEY but joining him this week we have MARK JOHNSTON up from second place. Both are now with a total of 91 goals each, which means they need just 9 goals for the cash. In second place this week up from three, we have GEOFF CARTHY now with a total of 90 goals. In third place we still have  JOHN FILTNESS with a total of 89 goals. In fourth place we now have ANN WELLARD down from one with a total of 88 goals. In fifth place we have PETER PORTER down from three with 87 goals. In sixth place we have TONY KING down from two with ANDY EYLES down from three. GRANT PHILLIPS moves down from four with ANDREW HAMMOND coming down from five. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but two of our teams in action over the weekend and we had 12 teams that failed to score any goals. We had crazy midweek results but even though we had another full fixture this weekend, it was very quiet on the goal front.

The average score for this weekend went down again from five goals from last weekend down to 4 goals this weekend.

The highest score that we had was 4 goals and we had a total of three teams that picked up that score. They came from BARNSLEY, SOUTHAMPTON and WREXHAM. Here are all of the weekends results. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

LIVERPOOL have remained top of the table after they won 1-0 away to NOTTINGHAM FOREST. Liverpool are on a total of 88 goals and have now scored in all of their last 17 league/cup games. Forest picked up their 10th blank score sheet and now two in a row. MANCHESTER CITY in second place, won the local derby 3-1 at home to MANCHESTER UNITED. City are now on a total of 74 goals and have now scored in all of their last 17 league/cup games. United hit goal number 47 and have extended their goal run to 12 league/cup games. Arsenal are still in third place with ASTON VILLA still in fourth place after they won 3-2 away to Luton and that has taken their goals total to 62 and they have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. CHELSEA drew 2-2 away to Brentford and are on a total of 66 goals. WEST HAM won 3-1 away to Wolves and they have now taken their goals total to 49. FULHAM won 3-0 at home against BRIGHTON and have taken their goals tally up to 49 goals. Brighton picked up their 7th blank of the season and now two in a row. NEWCASTLE are now on a total of 68 goals after they won 3-0 at home against Wolves. TOTTENHAM won 3-1 at home against CRYSTAL PALACE. Tottenham are on a total of 57 goals while Palace picked up goal number 36. AFC BOURNEMOUTH won 2-0 away to Burnley and are on a total of 49 goals. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

We still have LEICESTER CITY at the top here after they lost their third consecutive league game 2-1 at home to QPR. Leicester are on a total of 83 goals and have extended their goal run to 22 league/cup games. IPSWICH TOWN have moved back to second place after they won 2-0 away to PLYMOUTH. Ipswich are on a total of 82 goals and have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. Plymouth picked up their 9th blank of the season.

In the Play-offs we still have two of the four teams with LEEDS UNITED now in third place after they drew 1-1 away to Huddersfield. Leeds are on a total of 77 goals and have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. SOUTHAMPTON are still in fourth place after they won 4-3 away to Birmingham. Southampton have taken their goals total to 78 goals.

Meanwhile BRISTOL CITY lost 1-0 at home to Cardiff and they have now had a total of 15 blank score sheets. NORWICH won 1-0 at home to SUNDERLAND and are on a total of 69 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. Sunderland picked up their 12th blank of the season. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY won 1-0 away to bottom of the table Rotherham. Wednesday are on a total of 37 goals. STOKE won 2-0 at home against MIDDLESBROUGH and are on a total of 43 goals while Brough picked up their 9th blank of the season and now two in a row. SWANSEA CITY won 2-1 at home to Blackburn Rovers and are on a total of 52 goals. 

LEAGUE ONE

Our highest team here is still DERBY in second place after they won 3-0 at home to Port Vale. Derby are now on a total of 66 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games.

In the Play-offs again we still have two teams and they are BARNSLEY in fourth place after they won 4-2 away to Wycombe. Barnsley have taken their goals tally to 72 and have now scored in all of their last 19 league/cup games. PETERBOROUGH are still in fifth place after they won 2-1 at home to Exeter and are on a total of 75 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games.

Meanwhile READING won 3-1 away to Carlisle and are now on a total of 58 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. BRISTOL ROVERS won 1-0 away to Leyton Orient and are on a total of 61 goals. CHARLTON drew 1-1 away to Northampton and are on 58 goals. BLACKPOOL won 2-0 away to Shrewsbury and are on a total of 67 goals. 

LEAGUE TWO

WREXHAM are our highest team here in third place. They won 4-0 at home to Accrington and have taken their goals tally up to 68.

In the Play-offs we are back down to having just one of the four teams and they are MK DONS in fifth place. They lost 1-0 away to AFC WIMBLEDON and picked up their 9th blank of the season. Wimbledon after they had failed to score in their previous two games, are now on a total of 62 goals.

Meanwhile SALFORD CITY lost 2-0 at home to Gillingham. Salford after they had scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games, picked up their 10th blank of the season. SUTTON UNITED lost 1-0 away to Tranmere and picked up their 11th blank of the season. 

SCOTTISH RESULTS

In the Premiership RANGERS are still top of the league after they lost their 5th league game 2-1 at home to Motherwell and are on a total of 80 goals and have extended their goal run to 30 league/cup games. CELTIC in second place, lost 2-0 away to Hearts after they went down to 10 men in the first half. Celtic after they had scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games, picked up their 5th blank of the season. KILMARNOCK drew 2-2 away to Dundee and are on a total of 49 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. ABERDEEN lost 2-1 away to St Mirren and are on a total of 41 goals. HIBERNIAN won 2-0 at home against ROSS COUNTY and are on a total of 46 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. County picked up their 16th blank of the season. 

In League One top of the table FALKIRK drew 1-1 at home against Anna. Falkirk are now on a total of 76 goals and have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. KELTY HEARTS picked up their 9th blank of the season and now two games with out a goal after they lost 5-0 at home to Hamilton. COVE RANGERS won 2-1 away to Edinburgh City and are on a total of 58 goals. 

In League Two STENHOUSEMUIR are still top of the table after they won 1-0 away to Bonnyrigg Rose and are on a total of 48 goals and now have a goal run of 18 league/cup games. EAST FIFE won 3-1 away to The Spartans and they have taken their goals total of 38 goals. CLYDE who are still bottom of the league won their fifth league game 2-1 at home to Elgin City. Clyde are on a total of 44 goals. 

Our BEST three teams this week 

 LIVERPOOL (88) LEICESTER CITY (83) IPSWICH (82) Total of 253 goals 

Our WORST three teams are 

 CRYSTAL PALACE (36) SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY (37) EAST FIFE (38) Total of 111 goals 

Our Best performing team are now RANGERS after they have now scored in all of their last 30 league/cup games. They have a total of 80 goals which gives them an average score of 2.2 goals per game. 

Our worst performing team is SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY this week as they have picked up 16 blank score sheets out of their 39 league/cup games. 

Our highest goal scoring teams in our 41st Season are NEWCASTLE UNITED after they won 8-0 away to Sheffield United in Week Eight. BARNSLEY, BRISTOL ROVERS, COVE RANGERS and CELTIC have all pick up our second highest score with 7 goals each. Barnsley won 7-0 at home to Port Vale in the first league game of the season in Week One. Bristol Rovers won 7-2 at home to non-league Whitby Town in the first round of the FA CUP in Week Fourteen. Cove Rangers won 7-2 at home to Edinburgh City in a league game in Week Twenty-One. Celtic won 7-1 at home to Dundee in the league in Week Thirty-One.

JOHN FILTNESS celebrates his 5th weekend at the top as he picks up a total of 15 goals from the week. He’s teams are Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester City. Graham Phillips moves in to second place this weekend as he picked up a total of 17 goals this week. Graham is 6 goals behind John. Graham’s teams are Liverpool, Manchester City and Southampton.

At the other end at 110 we have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) for his 12th consecutive weekend. John picked up 5 goals this weekend. John has Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir. John has remained in 40th place in our “Losers League”.
