Week Thirty-Seven

In Week Thirty-Seven of the competition we had a total of five players that picked up a total of 11 goals each. So under our competition rules, we can only have four winners. That now means that we will have our  7th Rollover of the season worth £10 next weekend. The players that missed out this week are STEVE AYRES, DAVID BARRETT, MICHAEL FISHER, TONY GUY (2) and CHRIS NUNN.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Most of us have managed to pick up a goal or two this week and although the race for the cash is over, there is a record to beat still. We now have a total of 12 players that have now reached 100 or more goals and there will be a couple more in the coming week. The record to beat is 136 midweek goals and the record holder is Daryl Nicholls from the 2016/17 Season. Leading the race for the record this week we have TONY KING now with a total of 107 goals. In second place we have MARK JOHNSTON and BAILEY MORAN with a total of 106 goals. Next we have ANN WELLARD with a total of 104 goals. Following Ann we have ANDY EYLES and JAMES SOMERVILLE both with a total of 103 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but 3 of our teams in action again over the weekend and the ones that did play, 8 of them failed to score any goals. What a crazy weekend we had with our teams and that is reflected in the table this week. The average score for the weekend fell from seven goals last week to just 5 goals this weekend. The highest score that we had was 6 goals, and they came from League Two where WREXHAM won 6-0 at home against bottom of the table Forest Green Rovers. Wrexham have taken their goals total to 88.

PREMIER LEAGUE

MANCHESTER CITY are at the top this weekend after they won 5-1 at home against Luton. City have had some good results over the last couple of weeks as they take their goals tally to 90. ARSENAL move down to second place after they lost 2-0 at home to ASTON VILLA. As Arsenal pick up their 6th blank of the season, Villa are on a total of 71 goals and have moved up to fourth place. LIVERPOOL are down to third place after they lost 1-0 at home against CRYSTAL PALACE. Liverpool who had a goal run of 22 games, have now picked up their 2nd blank of the season. Palace are on 41 goals. TOTTENHAM now in fifth place lost 4-0 away to NEWCASTLE. As Tottenham picked up their 3rd blank of the season, Newcastle have taken their goals tally to 80. After they had failed to score in their last two games, BRIGHTON drew 1-1 away to Burnley and are on a total of 61 goals.NOTTINGHAM FOREST drew 2-2 at home against Wolves and are on a total of 48 goals. AFC BOURNEMOUTH drew 2-2 at home against MANCHESTER UNITED. Bournemouth are on a total of 61 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 games. United are also on a total of 61 goals and have now scored in all of their last 18 league/cup games. WEST HAM lost 2-0 at home to FULHAM and picked up their 8th blank of the season after a goal run of 7 games. Fulham are on 59 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP

IPSWICH are back on top after they drew 1-1 at home against MIDDLESBROUGH. After they had failed to score in their last two games, Ipswich are on a total of 97 goals. Middlesbrough are on a total of 77 goals. Leicester City are back in second place.

In the Play-offs we have three of the four teams. In third place we still have LEEDS UNITED who lost 1-0 at home  to Blackburn Rovers. Leeds picked up their 8th blank of the season and now two in a row. SOUTHAMPTON are still in fourth place after they won 3-2 at home to Watford. Southampton are now on a total of 90 goals. NORWICH are still in sixth place after they won 1-0 away to Preston. Norwich are on a total of 85 goals and have now scored in all of their last 15 league/cup games.

Meanwhile BRISTOL CITY drew 1-1 at home against Huddersfield and are on a total of 58 goals. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY drew 1-1 at home to STOKE and are on a total of 44 goals while Stoke are on 51 goals. After they had failed to score in their previous two games, SWANSEA are on a total of 60 goals after they won 1-0 at home to Rotherham. SUNDERLAND had failed to score in their last two league games, won 1-0 away to West Brom and are on a total of 53 goals. 

LEAGUE ONE

DERBY are still our highest team here in second place after they won 3-0 at home to Leyton Orient. Derby have taken their goals total to 78.

In the Play-offs we have two teams with PETERBOROUGH still in fourth place after they lost 5-0 away to Oxford Utd. That is their 5th blank of the season. BARNSLEY are in fifth place after they drew 2-2 at home to READING. Barnsley are on a total of 85 goals while Reading 72 goals and have now scored in all of their last 18 league/cup games.

Meanwhile  CHARLTON drew 1-1 away to Cambridge Utd and are on a total of 71 goals. BLACKPOOL won 1-0 away to Carlisle and are on a total of 71 goals. After they had failed to score in their last 7 league games, BRISTOL ROVERS won 3-1 away to Cheltenham.  Rovers are now on a total of 64 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

Wrexham are still in second place after their big win.

In the Play-offs we now have one team and they are MK DONS, who are down to fourth place after they lost 4-1 at home to Mansfield. The Dons are on a total of 76 goals.

Meanwhile SUTTON UNITED drew 2-2 away to Harrogate and are on a total of 63 goals. SALFORD CITY lost 2-1 at home against Bradford and are on a total of 72 goals. AFC WIMBELDON lost 3-2 away to Swindon and are on a total of 71 goals. NOTTS COUNTY won 3-1 away to Walsall and are now on a total of 91 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league games.

SCOTTISH RESULTS

In the Premiership CELTIC are still top this weekend after they won 3-0 at home to St Mirren. Celtic have taken their goals total to 91. RANGERS remain in second place with that game in hand, but have they made Celtic the Champions? After they lost 3-2 away to ROSS COUNTY. Rangers are on a total of 90 goals and have now scored in all of their last 34 league/cup games. County are now on a total of 50 goals. ABERDEEN drew 0-0 at home to Dundee and that is their 16th blank of the season and now two games in a row. HIBERNIAN drew 1-1 away to Motherwell and are on a total of 54 goals. KILMARNOCK won 2-0 away to St Johnstone and are on a total of 59 goals and have now scored in all of their last 18 league/cup games.

In League One Champions FALKIRK are still top of the table after win 2-0 away to Hamilton. We congratulate Falkirk on being our first team to reach 100 goals. They are now on a total of 101 goals and have now scored in all of their last 20 league/cup games. COVE RANGERS lost 3-2 away to Annan and are on a total of 68 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 6 league games. KELTY HEARTS won 1-0 at home against Stirling and are on a total of 58 goals.

In League Two STENHOUSEMUIR are still top of the table after they drew their sixth consecutive league game 1-1 at home to Elgin City. Stenhousemuir after they had failed to score in their last three games, are on a total of 50 goals. EAST FIFE lost 4-1 at home to Bonnyrigg Rose and are on a total of 47 goals. CLYDE who are back at the bottom of the league, after they lost 1-0 away to Dumbarton. That is Clyde's 12th blank of the season.

Our Best performing team are RANGERS after they have now scored in all of their last 34 league/cup games. They have a total of 90 goals which gives them an average score of 2.3 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY this week as they have picked up 19 blank score sheets out of their 47 league/cup games.

Our highest goal scoring teams in our 41st Season are NEWCASTLE UNITED after they won 8-0 away to Sheffield United in Week Eight. BARNSLEY, BRISTOL ROVERS, COVE RANGERS, CELTIC and FALKIRK have all pick up our second highest score with 7 goals each. Barnsley won 7-0 at home to Port Vale in the first league game of the season in Week One. Bristol Rovers won 7-2 at home to non-league Whitby Town in the first round of the FA CUP in Week Fourteen. Cove Rangers won 7-2 at home to Edinburgh City in the league in Week Twenty-One. Celtic won 7-1 at home to Dundee in the league in Week Thirty-One. FALKIRK won 7-1 away to Montrose in the league in Week Thirty-Five. 

JOHN FILTNESS is still at the top this weekend as he picks up a total of 5 goals from the weekend. John has now been at the top for a total of  10 weeks throughout the season. His teams are Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester City. John has now beaten our 1988/89 Champion Alec Short score of 280 goals in our “Champions League”. Scott Thomson (1) has moved up to second place with his 1st combination. Scott picked up a total of 8 goals from the weekend with his teams of  Liverpool, Manchester City and Notts County. Scott is just 2 goals behind John.

At the other end at 110 we still have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) for his 18th consecutive weekend. John picked up a a total of 6 goals this weekend. John has Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir. John has moved up to 33rd place in our “Losers League” this week.
