Week Thirty-One

With not many of our English Premiership teams in action over the weekend the weekends average score fell right down to just one goal each.  We had eight teams that had no game and another eight teams that failed to score any goals.
The highest score that we had came from the English Championship where NORWICH won 4-1 away to Millwall. Norwich take their goals total to 73.

FA CUP Quarter-Finals
We had just two of the six teams that played over the weekend and out of them both are still in with a chance to the semi-finals as they both drew 0-0. READING drew 0-0 away to Bradford and picked up their 16th blank of the season and they have now scored just four goals in their last eight games. LIVERPOOL drew 0-0 at home to Blackburn to pick up their 9th blank score sheet.

PREMIERSHIP
TOTTENHAM beat QPR 2-1 away to take their goals tally to 63 while Rangers picked up goal number 29.

CHAMPIONSHIP
After a two game dry spell for goals, DERBY drew 2-2 at home to Birmingham after going 2-0 up. Derby are on 83 goals and move down to second place in the league. We still have the same two teams in the play-off  zone. Norwich are one of them in fifth place but WATFORD are now in third place as they drew 2-2 away to WOLVES. Watford are on a total of 73goals while Wolves are on 55. CARDIFF lost 2-1 at home to CHARLTON to get their 52nd goal while Charlton are now on 46. Its 39 for ROTHERHAM as they win 2-0 away to Huddersfield. NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 2-1 at home against Middlesbrough and are now on 63 goals. LEEDS are on 42 goals as they win 1-0 away to WIGAN. Wigan picked up their 16th blank score sheetof the season.

LEAGUE ONE
BRISTOL CITY are still top here this weekend after they won 2-1 away to Crawley. City are now on 74 goals. In second
place is PRESTON. They won 2-0 away to MK DONS. Preston are on 69 goals while the Dons picked up their 8th blank of the season and into the play-off zone. In that zone we have another two teams. SHEFFIELD UNITED are one of them as they lost2-1 at home to Fleetwood. That was United’s 67th goal. DONCASTER are also there as they drew 1-1 away to Gillingham to pick up goal number 54. A nice high score for BARNSLEY as they win 3-0 at home to Walsall to take their goals total to 55. COVENTRY are on 38 goals but lost 3-2 at home to Port Vale. SCUNTHORPE picked up another blank score sheet eleven in all now as they lost 2-0 away to Crewe. PETERBOROUGH are on 45 as they win 1-0 at home to LEYTON ORIENT. Orient picked up their 14th blank score sheet.

LEAGUE TWO
LUTON may of fallen down to fifth place but they are still in the play-off  zone as they drew 2-2 at home to Morecombe. Luton are now on a total of 51 goals. Also in the zone is BURY as they lost 1-0 at home against Oxford. That was their 10th blank of the season. STEVENAGE are on 52 goals as they win 2-1 at home to Newport. PORTSMOUTH after a two game dry spell are now on 43 goals as they drew1-1 away to Accrington.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In Scotland we had just one of our teams in the WILLIAM HIL CUP Sixth Round and they are CELTIC as they drew 1-1 away to Dundee UTD. Celtic are now on 74 goals.
In the Legaue, RANGERS could not do what Heatrs  did last weekend as they drew 0-0 away to Cowdenbeath to pick up their 6th blank score sheet of the season and they have now scored just four goals in their last six games. DUNFERMLINE won 2-1 at home to Ayr and are now on 52 goals while STENHOUSEMUIR are on 37 as they win 2-1 at home to Peterhead.

THE BEST THREE TEAMS ARE…

DERBY (83) MK DONS (82) HEARTS (76) Total of 241 goals.

THE WORST THREE TEAMS ARE…

QPR (29) WIGAN (33) EVERTON (36) Total of 98 goals.

QPR are still our worst team this weekend even though they picked up one goal in midweek and another goal at the weekend. Rangers have played a total of 30 games and they have picked up a total of eleven blank score sheets to date.

We have had two teams that have picked up the highest number of blank score sheets to date. They are READING and WIGAN. Both have picked up a total of 16 blank score sheets each to date.

HEARTS have picked up the highest score for this season with a 10-0 home win against Cowdenbeath in the league.

Manchester City had that record breaking end of season score of 137 goals last season but that will not be beating it this season. In Week thirty-one last season, City had no game in midweek again and they picked up just one goal at the weekend. That goal was their 104th of the season after thirty-seven games played. They have had four blank score sheet’s and their highest score was seven goals against Norwich in the league.
This season they picked up two goals in midweek, no game at the weekend. So City are now on a total of 68 goals this weekend and they have had a total of four blank score sheet after thirty-one games played. They were clawing back the goals but they are now 36 goals behind last seasons record run. They are at home to Leicester City in midweek and they have no game at the weekend.

There was not much movement in the table this week but here is how the top ten look.
