Week Thirty-Eight

RICHARD WILLIAMS is just hanging on to the top spot this week as he is now on goal difference only with JOHN DAVIES. Richard picked up a total of eleven goals for the week. This is now his 16th week over the season and now two weeks in a row. Richard is now climbing up the Champions table and is now in 30th place as he has now beaten Robert Hough's 1990/91 and Geoff  Dockerill's 1994/94 score of 274 goals. Richard’s combination is Hibernian, Manchester City  and Rangers. John has Liverpool, Manchester City and Rangers.

At the other end, JOHN NICHOLLS combination managed to pick him up a total of six goals this week. Three came from midweek and another three from the weekend.  They came from Bolton with one while Newcastle picked him up two.  Arsenal failed to score in their game. Although John has been at 119 for a twenty-eight weeks this season the good news is that he has moved up the loser’s league to 29th place. John has beaten Richard Lloyd's 154 in our 1993/94 season and Freda Hillier's 1987/88 and Ian Etheridge score in 1999/2000 Season

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Only four of us failed to pick up any midweek goals this week but the highest score to be picked up this week was nine goals and they all went to STUART KEMP who now has a total of 60 midweek goals. They came from Hibernian three, Preston two and Tottenham four.
The race to the £40 Midweek Jackpot has had a bit of a change around with DANIEL GOODSON now just six goals away from the cash and still seven goals in front with a new total of 94 goals. Middlesbrough and Manchester City picked him up a single goal each with Rangers netting two. In second place up from three we have CHRIS SETFORD now on 89 goals. While in third place this week we still have CRAIG EVANS but we now also have JAMES HUNTER
up from fourth place and up from six JOHN DAVIES all now on 85 goals each. In fourth place up from five on 84 goals we have DAVID STAINS. In fifth place we still have TONY KING but RICHARD WILLIAMS is also there both on 83 goals. In joint sixth place all on 82 goals we still have MICK LIDDLE, NATHAN TREADWELL and BENJAMIN WAYMARK they are now joined with JAMES WISE back in the running

This weekend we had two winners to share the cash on a total of 10 goals which is a bit better. But one of the winners picked up their second win of the season and that went to ALEX DAVEY.  The other win picked up their first win of the season and that went to CARRIE-ANNE WRIGHT which now takes our winners total up to fifty-one.
Alex won his first lot of cash in week twenty-six and that was also a part shared win. Since then Alex has picked up just one more blank score sheet to take his weekend blank score sheets total to four.  Although he moved up a couple of places to 92, this is the highest that he has been all season. His Best team is still Manchester City.
Carrie-Anne is in her very first season with Golden Goals and I would like to thank her for joining in the fun. Well saying that Carrie has had a lot of up’s and down’s and her highest position is 74 in week eleven. Carrie has had a total of five blank score sheets and her best team is also Manchester City. Our winners teams are

Alex  CHELSEA 4, LEEDS UTD 2, MANCHESTER CITY 4
Carrie-Ann  CHELSEA 4, MANCHESTER CITY 4, MANCHESTER UTD 2

WEEKEND RESULTS
The weekend has ended as the midweek started with another set of teams picking up the same highest score. As a result this weekend average score moved up from four of last weekend to 5 goals and that was mainly down to two of our top teams. This weekend we only had eleven teams that failed to score any goals and another six that had no game at all over the weekend. So who had the highest score?
Well the highest score of the weekend goes to BRENTFORD, CHELSEA, MANCHESTER CITY, PORT VALE, STEVENAGE and WIGAN.  All of the above teams picked up a total of four goals each.

FA CUP Semi-Finals
We had three of the four teams in this cup competition and now the final looks like a one horse race. The first game that we had was between MANCHESTER UNITED and EVERTON. Both teams have not been playing that well this season but Everton should have had the upper hand with the amount of goals that they have scored this season but it was not to be. Manchester United won the match in injury time 2-1 and the goals takes their goals tally to 57. Everton hit goal number 77 but they have now scored just three goals in their last seven games, Manchester United will be playing Crystal Palace on May 21st as they beat our other team, WATFORD 2-1. That was Watford's 39th goal of the season.
