Week Thirty-Five

RICHARD WILLIAMS has remained top once again this weekend and this is his Seventh weekend in a row and 14th over the season. Richard’s combination picked him up a total of nine goals over the weekend. The goals came from Hibernian 2, Manchester City 4 and Rangers 3. BOB SOPER is still in second place again this weekend  but he has caught up with Richard as Bob picked up a total of eleven goals all coming from the weekend from Arsenal, Manchester City and Rangers.

At the other end, JOHN NICHOLLS combination managed to pick him up a total of six goals all at the weekend. John has been at 119 for a twenty-five weeks this season. His teams are Arsenal, Bolton and Newcastle.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Only thirty-six of us picked up some more midweek goals this week and once again non of the top five picked up any goals. The highest score to be picked up this week was six goals and ZIGGY (John Wood) picked them all up from Scunthorpe. His other teams are Celtic and Stenhousemuir and the six goals takes his midweek total to 45.
The race to the £40 Midweek Jackpot remains much the same as last weeks with DANIEL GOODSON now seven goals in front with a new total of 84 goals. Middlesbrough picked him up the three goals. His other teams are Manchester City and Rangers. Still in joint second place with 77 goals each we still have JOHN DAVIES, and JAMES HUNTER.  In third place we have CRAIG EVANS and CHRIS SETFORD both now on 76 goals. In fourth place down from three is TONY KING on 75 goals while in fifth place both on 74 we have ADRIAN BEW and down from four TOM MACDONALD. In sixth place this week on 73 goals we have MICK LIDDLE all the way down from three and back in this week NATHAN TREADWELL.

Our fifth weekend rollover of £10 was shared by two players this weekend and on a fantastic total of 12 goals each.  They are CHRIS BOLBERY who picks up his very first win of the season and that makes him our 48th winner of the season with TIM WOOD picking up his second win of the season.
Chris started playing Golden Goals way back in our 1997/98 Season where he finished in 39th place on 252, Last season he finished in the winning frame in 7th place on a total of 294 goals. He also finished in the winning frame in the season before. So Chris could finish in the winning frame for the third consecutive season. This season Chris has picked up just two blank score sheets and as he moves back up to 7th place, this is the fourth time this season that he has been here at his highest position to date. Celtic is his best team netting 89 of  his total of 242 goals.
Tim won some cash in his shared win back in week twenty-six. Since then he has picked up another blank score sheet and that makes it a total of four weekend blanks to date. Tim has slowly made his way up the table and this weekend we see Tim at his highest place but he should be way up the table with the teams that he has. Manchester City is his best team. Our winners combinations are

Chris  CELTIC 3, MANCHESTER CITY 4, WIGAN 5
Tim  ARSENAL 4, CHELSEA 4, MANCHESTER CITY 4

WEEKEND RESULTS
It has taken a bit of a while for our teams to score shed load of goals and I hope that the wait was worth it?.
This weekends average score shot up to 8 goals which is the highest that we have had this season. The reason will become obvious when you read the results. The highest amount of goals came from the English League One where WIGAN picked up five goals against Shrewsbury. Wigan take their goals tally up to 71 goals in their 5-1 away win  moved them to the top of league one.

Wigan are our 83rd voted English team and they started playing in Golden Goals back in our 1992/93 Season where they finished on a grand total of 51 goals. This Wigan’s highest score is 84 goals scored in the 1998/99 Season. They are now in their 11th season with us and over the years they have scored a total of 704 goals which gives them an average end of season score of 64 goals per season. Last season they finished on a total of 40 goals. They have just one vote this season.
