Week Thirty-Eight

It’s Week Thirty-Eight of Season 34 and we had one winner to pick up our Rollover of £12 on a total of 9 goals.That went to BOB SAWYER who picks up his second win of the season.
Bob last won some cash in week thirty where he had to share the prize money with three other players. He has still not had any blank score sheets at the weekends and although he is going back up the table this weekend, 19th is still his best position to date. Celtic is his best team. Bob’s teams are once again

BRENTFORD 3, CELTIC 2, PETERBOROUGH 4

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
We have now extended our list of players that have now scored 100 or more midweek goals to fifteen this week.
DARYL NICHOLLS is still leading but now on a total of 122 goals this week. He picked up the goals from Newcastle and Brighton. His other team is Celtic. In second place on 116 goals is still LUCIFER the Cat or John Wood. He picked up the four goals from Accrington Stanley, Brighton and Newcastle. In third place is GRANT PHILLIPS with 109 goals and in fourth place we have PHIL FRANCKSEN who is now on 107 goals. Can Daryl or anyone else beat our highest midweek score set by Paul Davey in our 2013/14 Season of a total of 132 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS
Although we had some great score’s this weekend it was also a poor weekend for goals really.  We had forty-seven of our teams in action over the weekend but sixteen failed to score any goals. The average score for the second weekend running remained at 4 goals.
The highest score that we had over the weekend was four goals once again and we had three teams to pick them up.

FA CUP Semi-Finals
We had all four teams in this round and this is where we had one of our high scorer’s where CHELSEA beat London rivals  TOTTENHAM 4-2 in a trilling game. Chelsea take their goals total to 88 while Tottenham are now on 91 goals. In the other Semi ARSENAL beat MANCHESTER CITY 2-1 in extra time to make it an all London final. Arsenal are now on 85 goals while City hit goal number 81.So the final will be between Arsenal and Chelsea and that will be played on 27th May.

PREMIERSHIP
Chelsea are still in that top spot with Tottenham in second place even though both were in cup action over the weekend. LIVERPOOL are still in third place after they lost 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace after going a goal up. Liverpool are now on 84 goals and they have now scored in all of their last ten games. Manchester City are still in fourth place with MANCHESTER UNITED in fifth as they won 2-0 away to Burnley. United are now on a tally of 74 goals. EVERTON have moved back up to sixth place after they drew 0-0 away to WEST HAM. As Everton picked up their seventh blank of the season, West Ham have now had eight. BOURNEMOUTH are now on a total of 53 goals as they win 4-0 at home to Middelsbrough. STOKE picked up their eleventh blank score sheet as they lost 2-0 away to Swansea.

CHAMPIONSHIP
Brighton are still top even though they lost on Friday night to Norwich. Newcastle are in second place but they had no game over the weekend. In the Play-off zone we are down to just one team and they are SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY in fourth place. They won 2-1 at home to DERBY and that takes their goals total to 59 while Derby picked up goal number 57.
Meanwhile LEEDS UNITED are just outside the zone as they lost 2-1 away to Burton and they are now on 65 goals. BRENTFORD won 3-1 at home to QUEENS PARK RANGERS and they are now on 78 goals while Rangers hit goal number 56.Another single goal for ASTON VILLA take’s their goals total to 47 as they win 1-0 at home to Birmingham. CARDIFF drew 0-0 away to Wigan and that was their fifteenth blank of the season. WOLVES picked up their fifteenth blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 at home to Blackburn.

LEAGUE ONE
Champions SHEFFIELD UNITED picked up another three goals as they win 3-0 away to MK DONS. United have picked up six goals this week and they are now on a total of 98 goals. United biggest score was in our 2011/12 Season where they finished on 104. MK Dons have now had seventeen blank score sheets. In the Play-off zone we have three of the four teams with SCUNTHORPE in fourth place as they win 2-1 away to Swindon. Scunthorpe are on 81 goals and they have now scored in all of their last ten games. Fifth is BRADFORD as they win 3-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon. Braford are now on 62 goals. Then comes MILLWALL in sixth place as they lost 3-0 at home to Oxford to pick up their fifteenth blank score sheet and now two in a row.
Meanwhile just outside we have SOUTHEND as they lost 1-0 away to Shrewsbury. Southend picked up their twelfth blank of the season. CHARLTON are on 61 goals as they win 2-1 away to Chesterfield. GILLINGHAM lost 3-2 at home to Fleetwood and they are now on a total of 69 goals. WALSALL picked up their fifteenth blank of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Coventry. OLDHAM are on 37 goals as they drew 1-1 against Rochdale. PETERBOROUGH won 4-2 at home to BRISTOL ROVERS and they are now on 73 goals to Rovers 74. PORT VALE picked up blank number eighteen and now five in a row as they lost 2-0 at home to Bolton.

LEAGUE TWO
We still have the top three here with DONCASTER on top as they lost 2-1 away to Wycombe. Doncaster are on a total of 85 goals. Two points behind them is PLYMOUTH as they drew 0-0 away to COLCHESTER. Plymouth picked up their thirteenth blank score sheet, Colchester picked up their twelfth. PORTSMOUTH are in third place as they win 2-1 at home to Cambridge. Portsmouth are on 75 goals. In the Play-off zone in fourth place is LUTON after they won 2-1 at home to Nott’s County and they are on 76 goals. YEOVIL lost 4-2 away to Grimsby and that takes their goals tally to 53.It’s fifteen blanks for ACCRINGTON as they lost 1-0 away to Newport. LEYTON ORIENT are relegated after a unbroken run of 112 year stay in the English Football League as they lost 3-0 away to Crewe. That was their nineteenth of the season.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the WILLIAM HILL CUP Semi-Finals we had all four teams. HIBERNIAN lost 3-2 against ABERDEEN to take their goals total to 68 goals while Aberdeen are on 77. CELTIC played rivals RANGERS and won 2-0. Celtic are now on a total of 113 goals while Rangers picked up their fifth blank of the season. The final is set between Aberdeen and Celtic and that will be played on 27th May.
In the Championship, FALKIRK are still in second place as they win 2-1 away to Dunfermline. Falkirk are on a total of 59 goals. In League One, STENHOUSEMUIR are still rock bottom of this league as they win 1-0 away to second from bottom  PETERHEAD. Stenhousemuir are now on a total of 49 goals while Peterhead picked up their twelfth blank of the season.

KILMARNOCK (35) OLDHAM (37) STOKE (42) Total of 114 goals

Our Best team on form is still CELTIC after they have scored in all of their forty-one League and Cup games played and netting a total of 113 goals which still gives them an average score of two goals per game.

OLDHAM  have picked up the most number of blank score sheets this season with a total of twenty-fifth out of their forty-nine games played.

Our highest goal scorers in our 34th Season are  HIBERNIAN after they won 8-1 away to non-league team Bonnyrigg Ross in the Fourth Round of the Scottish WILLIAM HILL CUP in Week Twenty-Five.

JUNE TIGHE is in her eighth weekend at the top as she picks up a total of nine goals for  the week.  June’s  picked up another four goals in midweek and the other five came at the weekend from Celtic and Sheffield United. Newcastle had no game. June has now extended her lead to seven goals clear of Lee Clark who has remained in second place again this weekend. June has moved up to 23rd place in our Champions League as she has now beaten three past champions which one of them was last season’s champion, Richard Williams who finished on a total of 298 goals.

At the other end at number 136 we still have EMMA SAWYER after her combination picked her up seven goals for the week. Four of them came from the weekend from Hibernian and Charlton. Her third team is Leicester City who had no game. Emma has now been at number 136 for a total of eight weeks over the season. She is now two goals behind Jason Cooper who picked up a total of six goals over the week. Emma is still moving up our Loser’s League this weekend as she has now beaten another ten players to land in 13th spot. Emma needs another good week to move up into the top ten.
