Good Friday Games

We had a really cracking Good Friday where three of our teams picked up four goals each. In the English Championship, WOLVES have remained top as they win 2-1 away to MIDDLESBROUGH. Wolves are now on a total of 76 goals while Brough picked up goal number 63. CARDIFF are still in second place as they win 3-1 at home to BURTON ALBION. Cardiff are now on 68 goals while poor old Burton are rock bottom and that is their 33^rd goal of the season. BRENTFORD are on 63 goals as they drew 1-1 at home against SHEFFIELD UNITED who are now on 58. SUNDERLAND picked up their highest result of the season as they win 4-1 away to Derby. Sunderland take their goals tally to 45 after a three game dry spell. LEEDS UNITED are on 65 goals as they win 2-1 at home to BOLTON who are now on 40 goals. NORWICH lost 2-0 at home to FULHAM to pick up their eleventh blank score sheet while Fulham now have a total of 70 goals. After a goal run of nine games, QUEENS PARK RANGERS picked up their eleventh blank score sheet as they lost 1-0 away to READING. Reading are now on 54 goals.

In League One, WIGAN have moved back on top after they won 3-0 at home to Oldham. Wigan are now on a total of 88 goals. FLEETWOOD TOWN are now on 57 goals as they win 1-0 away to AFC Wimbledon. DONCASTER are on 61 goals as they win 2-1 away to Blackpool. CHARLTON won 4-0 away to Northampton and they are now on a total of 57 goals. SCUNTHORPE drew 1-1 away to Oxford to give them a total of 61 goals. PLYMOUTH won 4-0 at home to SOUTHEND and they are now on 53 goals. Southend picked up blank number fourteen. PETERBOROUGH drew 1-1 away to Rotherham and that is their 78^th goal of the season.

In League Two, COLCHESTER beat LUTON 2-1 at home and they are now on a total of 50 goals while Luton are on 89. LINCOLN CITY won 3-2 at home against EXETER and they are now on 57 goals to Exeter’s 61. MANSFIELD lost 1-0 at home to top of the table Accrington and that is their eleventh blank and now two in a row. COVENTRY drew 1-1 away to Newport County and they are now on 58 goals. PORT VALE after a two game dry spell, are now on 49 goals as they win 2-1 at home to Chesterfield.

Blackburn Move to Top for Now

BLACKBURN have moved to the top of the English League One after they beat BRADFORD 2-0 at home. Blackburn have taken their goals tally up to 82 goals while Bradford picked up their twelfth blank of the season and now just one goal in their last five games. MK DONS won 2-1 away to Gillingham and they are now on a total of 50 goals.

Scottish Results

We have had two of our Scottish teams in action and they have both picked up goals. In League One, RAITH ROVERS are still in second place after they won 2-0 at home against East Fife. Raith have taken their goals tally to 69. In League Two, ELGIN CITY drew 2-2 away to Berwick and they are now on a total of 53 goals.

Week Thirty-Four

In Week Thirty-Four of the competition and we had a total of just thirty-six players that picked up some weekend goals with the highest score coming from Stephen Ayres with six goals. They came from Coventry 4 and Wigan 2. His third team is Middlesbrough. But due to the lack of teams that did not have any games over the weekend, we will have a Rollover which means that the cash prize money will be a worth £18 for the Easter weekend next week.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Although the prize money for the first player to reach 100 Midweek Goals was won by (me) STEVE REEVE we still have the record for the highest midweek goals to go for. Now who could win this perhaps this season? The record stands at 136 goals by Daryl Nicholls from last season. Just to remind you all, I have the combination of Manchester United, Rangers and Wolves. JAMES BLYTH in second place has a total of 95 goals with his combination of Blackburn, Celtic and Wolves. In third place on 92 goals is BARBARA BARNES (1). Fourth place is TOM BAXTER with 91 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

Due to the International games over the weekend, we had just twenty-two of our teams in action. We had a total of thirty-six of our teams that had no game this weekend and another six that failed to score any goals.

The highest score that we had came from the English League Two where COVENTRY won 4-0 at home to Grimsby. That is their highest result to date and they are now on a total of 57 goals. They have now scored in all of their last eight games.

Coventry became our 66th voted English team and they did not start with Golden Goals until our 1987/88 Season where they finished on a total of 52 goals. Their highest score came in our 2012/13 with 76 goals. They last played with us back in the 2014/15 Season where they finished on a total of 51 goals. Coventry are in their tenth season and they have scored a total of 589 goals which gives them an average score of 58 goals per season. This season they have just one vote and a total of twelve blank score sheets.

LEAGUE ONE

WIGAN are out top team here in second place as they win 2-0 away to Bury. Wigan have picked up a total of five goals this week and they are now on a total of 85.

In the play-off zone we still have three teams. Blackburn have moved down to third place with SCUNTHORPE still in fifth place  after they drew 1-1 at home to Rochdale. Scunthorpe are now on a total of 60 goals. PETERBOROUGH are now in sixth place as they drew 1-1 at home to Bristol Rovers which now gives them a total of 77 goals.

Meanwhile PLYMOUTH lost 2-0 away to CHARLTON and that is their ninth blank of the season while Charlton are now up to a total of 53 goals after a two game dry spell. BRADFORD after a three game dry spell are now on 56 goals as they win 1-0 at home to Gillingham. FLEETWOOD TOWN won 2-0 at home to Northampton and they are now on 56 goals. MK DONS picked up their fourteenth blank of the season as they drew 0-0 at home to Blackpool. SOUTHEND won 2-0 at home to Rotherham and they take their goals tally to 45. It’s been a while since PORTSMOUTH had a big win as they win 3-0 at home against Oxford Utd. Portsmouth are now on a total of 49 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

LUTON are back on top on goal difference after they won 2-0 at home against Barnet. Luton have taken their goals tally up to 88 goals.

In the play-off zone we still have three of our teams in this weekend. They are EXETER in fifth place after they won 3-1 at home against Swindon. Exeter are now on a total of 59 goals. Coventry are in sixth place with MANSFIELD moving down to seventh place after they lost 2-0 away to FOREST GREEN. As Mansfield picked up their tenth blank of the season, Forest Geeen are now on a total of 52 goals.

Meanwhile LINCOLN CITY drew 0-0 away to Morecambe and that is their twelfth blank of the season. After a two game dry spell, COLCHESTER are now on a total of 48 goals as they win 1-0 away to Stevenage. PORT VALE drew 0-0 away to Wycombe and that is their fourteenth blank of the season and now two in a row.

SCOTTISH RESULTS

We had just four of our Scottish teams in action over the weekend and they are in League One where RAITH ROVERS won 2-1 away to Airdrie to take their goals tally up to 67  but they are still in second place in the league. In League Two, PETERHEAD have moved back up to first place after they won 1-0 at home to Anna. Peterhead are now on 90 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eight games. ELGIN CITY are on 51 after they beat STENHOUSEMUIR 2-0 away. Stenhousemuir picked up their seventh blank of the season.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 35^th Season is PETERHEAD from the Scottish League Two. They picked up our highest score in week eleven as they won 9-0 at home to non-league team Colville Park in the WILLIAM HILL CUP Second Round.  

No change in the top ten this weekend but the top three have pulled away from the chasing pack.

Wigan Gaining on Leaders

In the English League One, WIGAN are now on a total of 83 goals as they win 3-0 away to Walsall. Wigan have remained in third place but they are now only two points behind leaders Blackburn with two games in hand.

A Few More Goals For Us

In the English League One, FLEETWOOD TOWN won 2-0 away to Rochdale to take their goals tally up to 54.

In League Two, It’s 50 goals for FOREST GREEN as they lost 3-1 away to Crewe. COLCHESTER picked up their twelfth blank of the season as they drew 0-0 away to Morecombe. Colchester have scored just one goal in their last five games. EXETER won 1-0 away to PORT VALE and that is their 56^th goal of the season while Port Vale picked up their thirteenth blank of the season.

With our Scottish teams in League Two, ELGIN CITY lost 2-0 at home to Stirling and that is their thirteenth blank of the season while STENHOUSEMUIR lost 2-1 at home to Cowdenbeath to pick up their 50^th goal of the season.

Doncaster Win Much Needed Points

In the English League One, DONCASTER have beaten BRADFORD CITY 2-0 at home. Doncaster have now moved up to 14^th place in the league and they are now on a total of 59 goals, while Bradford stay in 11^th place and they have picked up their eleventh blank of the season and now three in a row.

Week Thirty-Three

In Week Thirty-Three of the competition and we had a total of five players that picked up the highest score with eight goals, and under our competition rules only up to four can share the cash, so that means that there will be a Rollover coming up. The players that picked up the highest score were JASON COOPER, MARTIN CORBETT, TONY JENKINS, ANTHONEY PIRES and SORAN SEYEDI. All but one had Liverpool as part of their combinations.  But the Rollover will not be paid out next weekend as we have the International games coming up and there will be only some of our teams in action. So in two weeks time, the cash prize money will be a whopping £18 and if we can get just one winner, then they will have won the biggest prize money of the season.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Congratulations to (me) STEVE REEVE as I have now won this season’s 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot with this season’s cash prize money of £40. I needed just three goals from my combination and they all came from Wolves last Tuesday night My other teams are Manchester United and Rangers. JAMES BLYTH came a very close second as he needed eight goals to win. But he picked up three goals also on Tuesday night again from Wolves. His other teams are Blackburn and Celtic.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We were very lucky with the weather over the weekend as the mini beat from the east hit the UK once again. We had a total of ten of our teams that had no game this weekend and another twelve that failed to score any goals. So this weekends average score fell right down to just 3 goals.

The highest score that we had came from the English Premiership where LIVERPOOL won 5-0 at home to Watford. That is the third time that Liverpool have picked up five goals in a game and they are no won a total of 77 goals.The win moves Liverpool up to third place in the league.

Liverpool are just one of four teams that have been in Golden Goals right from the start and they were our highest voted team in our first season where they finished on a total of 103 goals. Two season’s later they picked up their highest score of 127 goals. Last season they picked up a total of 92 goals. Over the seasons they have netted a total of 2907 goals which gives them an average of 83 goals per season to date. This season they have a total of 19 votes and just five blank score sheets. This weekend they have now scored in all of their last eight games.

FA CUP Quarter-Finals

We had five of the eight teams left in the FA Cup and out of them three have made it through to the semi-finals. The highest result came from on form TOTTENHAM as they win 3-0 away to Swansea. Tottenham are now on a total of 79 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED are also through as they win 2-0 at home to Brighton and they are now on 75 goals. We had to wait for extra time to see who would go through between LEICESTER CITY and CHELSEA after they drew 1-1 after full time. Chelsea finally won 2-1 in extra time to take their goals tally to 72 while Leicester are now on 64. WIGAN are out after they lost 1-0 at home to Southampton and that is their seventh blank of the season.

PREMIERSHIP

There were no games for Manchester City in first place or Manchester United still second this weekend. Liverpool have moved up to third place with Tottenham moving down to fourth. Chelsea are in fifth place with Arsenal in seventh. BOURNEMOUTH won 2-1 at home to WEST BROM and that takes them up to 46 goals while West Brom hit goal number 34. CRYSTAL PALACE had a great win over Huddersfield 2-0 away to take their goals tally up to 35. EVERTON won 2-1 away to Stoke and they are now on 42.

CHAMPIONSHIP

WOLVES won 3-1 at home to BURTON ALBION and with six goals in a week, Wolves are now on 74 goals and now six points clear of second place Cardiff who had their game cancelled due to the weather. Burton after four games with out a goal, are now on a total of 32. In the play-off zone, we have still have three of the four teams. They are FULHAM moving up to third place as they drew 2-2 at home against QUEENS PARK RANGERS. Fulham have take their goals tally to 68 while Rangers are now on 47. ASTON VILLA have moved down to fourth place after they lost 1-0 away to BOLTON. That was Villa tenth blank of the season as Bolton picked up goal number 39. MIDDLESBROUGH are in sixth place as they drew 1-1 away to BRENTFORD. Both teams are now on a total of 62 goals each.

Meanwhile BIRMINGHAM won 3-0 at home to HULL which takes their goals total to 37. Hull picked up their twelfth blank of the season. Things are going bad for IPSWICH as they lost again 1-0 away to Bristol City. Ipswich have now failed to score in their last three games. LEEDS UNITED are on 63 goals but lost 2-1 at home to Sheffield Wednesday. NORWICH won 3-2 at home to READING and they are both now on a total of 53 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED picked up their fourteenth blank as they drew 0-0 at home to Nottingham Forest. SUNDERLAND lost 2-0 at home to Preston to get their sixteenth blank score sheet and now three games in a row.

In the Premiership, there were no goal from the top two as CELTIC drew 0-0 away to Motherwell to pick up their fifth blank of the season and RANGERS picked up their sixth as they lost 1-0 at home to Kilmarnock. ABERDEEN are still in third place as they win 1-0 at home to Dundee to pick up goal number 55.

In the Championship, FALKIRK drew 0-0 away to Livingston to pick up their eleventh blank of the season. In League Two, PETERHEAD have moved down to second place after they lost 3-2 away to Montrose who went top. Peterhead are now on 89 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seven games.  ELGIN CITY are on 49 after they lost to Cowdenbeath 3-1 away.

He is once again this week three goals clear of Paul Davey in second place. But there is some good news for Chris as he jumps up to 31^st place in our Champions League this weekend. He has beaten our 1990/91 Champion Robert Houghs score of 274 and Geoff Dockerills score of 274 in our 1994/95 Season’s. He has also just neaten Mike Harrington and David Salmons score of 276 goals in our 1997/98 Season. Chris has the combination of Celtic, Manchester City and Peterhead.  

At the other end at number 149 we still have COLIN PINDER for his twenty-first weekend. Colin picked up a total of three goals all coming from the weekend. Colin has the combination of Colchester, Crystal Palace and Southend.

In the English League One, WIGAN have moved up to second place after they beat BRADFORD 1-0 away. Wigan are now five points behind leaders Blackburn and they are now on a total of 80 goals. Bradford picked up their tenth blank of the season and now two in a row.

William Hill Cup Sixth Round Replay

In the Scottish WILLIAM HILL CUP sixth round replay, ABERDEEN drew 0-0 with Kilmarnock away, in this replay after full time, and they went a goal down in the start of the first half of extra time before coming back to draw 1-1. Aberdeen then won 3-2 on penalties. They are now on a total of 54 goals.

Wolves Still Top

In the English Championship, leaders Wolves are still just three points in front of second place Cardiff after both teams won their games last night. WOLVES won 3-0 at home to READING which takes their goals total to 71 while Reading picked up their fifteenth blank of the season.  CARDIFF won 3-1 away to BRENTFORD after going a goal down. Cardiff are now on 65 goals and Brentford picked up goal number 61. Third place ASTON VILLA could miss out on automatic promotion as they went down 3-1 at home to QUEENS PARK RANGERS. Villa are now on a total of 68 goals while Rangers are now on 45. It’s 50 goals for NORWICH as they drew 1-1 away to Barnsley and HULL are picking up them goals as they win 3-0 away to IPSWICH to give them a total of 56 goals. Ipswich picked up their thirteenth blank score sheet and now two in a row. After a two game dry spell for goals, SHEFFIELD UNITED are now on 57 goals as they win 2-0 at home to BURTON ALBION. Burton have now had a total of twenty-one blank score sheets and now no goals in their last four games.  

In League One CHARLTON picked up their ninth blank of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Blackpool, PETERBOROUGH Won 1-0 away to Bury and that is their 75^th goal of the season. It’s been a while since MK DONS had a big score and they did last night as they win 3-2 at home to Rotherham. The Dons are now on 46 goals. SOUTHEND picked up their third consecutive blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 away to Rochdale and that now gives them a total of thirteen over the season.

In League Two, PORT VALE are now on 45 goals as they drew 1-1 away to Barnet. COVENTRY drew 2-2 at home to LUTON who are now on a total of 51 goals while Luton are now on 85. EXETER picked up their ninth blank of the season as they drew 0-0 at home to Yeovil.

In League Two, ELGIN CITY lost 1-0 away to Clyde to pick up their twelfth blank of the season while top of the table PETERHEAD lost 2-1 at home to STENHOUSEMUIR. Peterhead are now on a total of 87 goals while Stenhousemuir are on 49.

City Win Again

In the English Premiership, MANCHESTER CITY have won their 26^th league game of the season out of 30 played, as they beat Stoke 2-0 away. City have taken their goals tally to 102 and they are now sixteen points clear of rivals Manchester United in second place. City have now won their last four league games.

Week Thirty-Two

In Week Thirty-Two of the competition and we had two winners this weekend which brings our winners total to forty as both are new winners for this season. On a score of 11 goals the £6 weekend cash prize money was shared between JOHN DAVIES and SARAH MARSHALL.

John has been with the competition for three seasons now and when he stared in our 2015/16 Season, John finished in the winning frame in third place on a total of 289 goals. With one shared weekend win, John took home over £50 in cash. Last season he finished in 35^th place on a total of 306 goals. This season he has won on his highest score of the season and he has picked up a total of four blank score sheet to date. His best team is on form Blackburn and this is the highest that John has been all season.

Sarah is in her second season with Golden Goals and last season she finished in 39^th place on a total of 304 goals. This season Sarah has dropped Derby from last season and picked up Aston Villa. Sarah has also picked up her biggest score of the season and she has had just three blank score sheets to date. Her bets team is Celtic and her highest position is 41 in Week Four.

Over half of us once again managed to pick up some more midweek goals this weeks and there was six of us how picked up the highest score with six goals each.  The race for the cash has again thinned out a lot this week.

I’am still in the lead (Me) STEVE REEVE after picking up six goals from Manchester United and Rangers with three goals each. I now have a total to 97 goals. My teams are Manchester United, Rangers and Wolves. In second place this week on 92 goals and moving up from three is JAMES BLYTH while in third place down from two is BARBARA BARNES (1). In fourth place moving up from six is STEVE CADWELL on a total of 89 goals. In fifth place this week down from four is ANDY EYLES on a total of 88 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

Well we had one hell of a crazy weekend as we had a total of five teams that picked up the highest score of four goals each. So this weekend’s average shot up to 7 goals. Once again all of us managed to pick up some goals from our teams which is good news. We had just three of our teams with out a game this weekend and another ten teams that failed to score any goals.

PREMIERSHIP

There were no game for Manchester City this week but they have remained top once again this weekend. In second place and thirteen points behind City is MANCHESTER UNITED. They are back after winning 2-1 at home to LIVERPOOL. United are now on a total of 73 goals while Liverpool take their goals tally to 72 and now down to fourth place. In third place is now TOTTENHAM who won 4-1 away to BOURNEMOUTH after going a goal down. Tottenham are now on 76 goals and have extended their goals run to twenty-three games. Bournemouth picked up goal number 44. CHELSEA won 2-1 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE and they are now on a total of 70 goals while Palace are on 33. ARSENAL are now on a total of 63 goals after they won 3-0 at home to Watford. Arsenal are in sixth place in the league. EVERTON won 2-0 at home against Brighton and they are on a total of 40 goals while NEWCASTLE have taken their goals tally to 35 as they win 3-0 at home to Southampton. WEST HAM picked up their eleventh blank of the season as they lost 3-0 at home to Burnley. WEST BROM are still rock bottom here as they went down 4-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY after going a goal up. West Brom are now on 33 goals while Leicester take their s up to 63.

WOLVES are still on top here but they lost 4-1 away to third place ASTON VILLA. Wolves take their goals total to 68 while Villa are now on 67. Just three points behind Wolves are CARDIFF in second place. They won 3-2 at home to BIRMINGHAM. Cardiff are now on a total of 62 goals while Birmingham are now on 34.

In the play-off zone, we have now have three of our teams in there. They are Aston Villa in third place and FULHAM still in fourth place after they won 2-1 away to Preston. Fulham take their goals tally to 66. MIDDLESBROUGH are in sixth place after they won 3-1 at home to Barnsley. Brough are now on 61 goals.

Meanwhile HULL won 4-3 at home to NORWICH and that takes their goals tally to 53 while Norwich are now on 49 after a two game dry spell for goals. IPSWICH drew 0-0 at home to SHEFFIELD UNITED and that is their twelfth blank score sheet to United's thirteen and now two games in a row. BRENTFORD have now picked up twelve blank score sheets after they lost 1-0 away to Millwall. QUEENS PARK RANGERS are now on 42 goals as they win 1-0 at home to SUNDERLAND who picked up their fifteenth blank score sheet and now two in a row.READING drew 2-2 at home to LEEDS UNITED and are now on a total of 51 goals while Leeds are on 62. BOLTON drew 1-1 away to Sheffield Wednesday and they are now on 38 goals. BURTON ALBION picked up their twentieth blank of the season and now three in a row after they drew 0-0 at home to Bristol City.

LEAGUE ONE

BLACKBURN are still top this week as they win 3-0 at home to Blackpool. Blackburn are now on a total of 80 goals.

In the play-off zone we have three teams. WIGAN are in third place still after they drew 3-3 at home to fifth place  SCUNTHORPE. Wigan are now on 79 goals to Scunthorpes 58. PLYMOUTH are still in sixth place as they drew 1-1 away to FLEETWOOD TOWN. While Plymouth hit goal number 46, Fleetwood are now on 52. 

Meanwhile PETERBOROUGH won 4-1 at home to CHARLTON and they are now on 74 goals while Charlton are on 51. PORTSMOUTH are on 44 goals but they lost 3-1 at home to Gillingham. SOUTHEND drew 0-0 at home to DONCASTER to pick up their twelfth blank score sheet and now two in a row while Doncaster picked up their fourteenth after a goal run of nine games.

LEAGUE TWO

LUTON have dropped down to second place after they lost 2-1 at home to Accrington who moves to the top. Luton have taken their goals tally up to 83 goals.

In the play-off zone we now have three of our teams in this weekend. They are MANSFIELD in fifth place after they drew 1-1 at home to COLCHESTER. Mansfield are now on 62 goals while Colchester picked up goal number 47. EXETER are still in sixth place as they drew 1-1 at home to Carlisle. Exeter are now on 54 goals. LINCOLN CITY are in seventh place as they win 3-1 away to Chesterfield. Lincoln have taken their goals tally to 51.

Meanwhile COVENTRY are on 49 goals as they win 1-0 at home to Barnet. FOREST GREEN lost 2-1 at home against Notts County and that is their 48^th goal of the season. PORT VALE are on 44 goals as they drew 1-1 away to Grimsby.

SCOTTISH RESULTS

In the Premiership, CELTIC beat rivals RANGERS 3-2 away after going a goal down in the first three minutes of play. Celtic are now on a total of 85 goals and now nine points clear of Rangers who are on a total of 83 goals. ABERDEEN are still in third place but they drew 0-0 away to Partick. Have picked up just one goal in their last four games and they have a total of eleven blank score sheet to date.

In the Championship, FALKIRK are now on 50 goals as they win 3-1 at home to Morton.In League One, RAITH are still top but they lost 3-0 away to Ary. That is Raith’s sixth blank of the season. In League Two, PETERHEAD are top as they win 1-0 away to Stirling. Peterhead are now on 86 goals STENHOUSEMUIR are in fourth place after they lost 3-2 at home to Clyde. Stenhousemuir are now on 47 goals. ELGIN CITY are on 48 after they won 3-0 at home to Berwick.

BURTON ALBION have picked up the most number of  blank score sheets with a total of twenty out of a total of forty games played this season.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 35^th Season is PETERHEAD from the Scottish League Two. They picked up our highest score in week eleven as they won 9-0 at home to non-league team Colville Park in the WILLIAM HILL CUP Second Round. 

Once again CHRIS BOOM is still on top this weekend as his combination picked him up a total of just four goals all coming from the weekend. Chris has now been at the top for a total of thirteen weeks which is the longest yet this season. He is still three goals clear of Paul Davey in second place. But Chris has failed to move up our Champions League this week and he remains in 34^th place. Chris has the combination of Celtic, Manchester City and Peterhead.

At the other end at number 149 we still have COLIN PINDER back there for his twentieth weekend. Colin picked up a total of four goals for the week from his combination of Colchester, Crystal Palace and Southend.
