Week Seventeen

In Week Seventeen of the competition and we had another Rollover with our winner picking up the full £12 in cash as he wins with a score of 11 goals. The player to win all the cash this weekend is MARK GREGORY who becomes our 17th winner of the season.
Mark has been with Golden Goals since the 2008/09 Season in where he finished in 49th place on a total of 251 goals. Last season he finished in 62nd place on 276 goals. This season we can see Mark back up to 35th place but his highest to date is 17th place in Week Three. His best team,like so many of you, is Manchester City. He has picked up a total of three blank score sheets at the weekends. His teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Only one player picked up any goals in midweek from Oldham this week and they were TOM BAXTER. That takes his midweek total up to 16 goals. So the race for the cash has remained the same once again this week. 
GRAHAM HARRIS is still out in front and has extended his lead to a total of 42 goals as he picks up two goals from West Brom. He has Hearts, Tottenham and West Brom. In second place and now nine goals behind Graham, we have  JUNE TIGHE,  ANN WELLARD and JACQUI WILLIAMS all on 33 goals. In third place we have RYAN WILLIAMS on 32 goals. In fourth place we have DAVID SOMERVILLE with 31 goals.  In joint fifth place all on 30 goals we have CLIFF BAMBRIDGE, JAMES BLYTH, STEVEN STUBBS, SCOTT THOMSON (2) and TERRY WARWICK.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend we were back to a full English league fixture plus the Scottish league and cup and what a weekend we had for goals.  We had a total of four teams without a game this weekend and another ten teams that failed to score any goals. But even after that, the average score was a fantastic 8 goals which is very high as most of you picked up a total of ten goals.
The highest score that we had was four goals and they came from three of our teams. They are ASTON VILLA, MANCHESTER CITY and STENHOUSEMUIR.

PREMIERSHIP
We have the top eight teams now in the prem with MANCHESTER CITY at the top after they won 4-0 away to WEST HAM. City are now on a total of 45 goals and they have now scored in all of their last six games. West Ham picked up their sixth blank of the season. LIVERPOOL are in second place as they win 3-0 away to Watford taking their goals tally up to 27 goals. TOTTENHAM are in third place as they win 3-1 at home against London rivals CHELSEA. While Tottenham take their goals total up to 28 goals, Chelsea now in fourth place hit goal number 33. In fifth place is ARSENAL who won 2-1 away to BOURNEMOUTH. Arsenal are also on 33 goals and they have now scored in all of their last fourteen games. Bournemouth picked up their 30th goal of the season. EVERTON are on 24 goals this weekend as they win 1-0 at home against Cardiff. LEICESTER CITY drew 1-1 away to Brighton and they are now on 22 goals while FULHAM after a four game dry spell for goals, are now on 19 as they win 3-2 at home to Southampton. MANCHESTER UNITED picked up their second blank of the season after a goal run of ten games as they drew 0-0 at home to Crystal Palace. WOLVES lost 2-0 at home to Huddersfield and that is their fifth blank score sheet of the season.

CHAMPIONSHIP
In the Championship, LEEDS UNITED are our highest team here in third place after they won 2-0 at home to Bristol City to take their goals total up to 33. West Brom are in fourth place with DERBY in sixth place after they won 2-1 away to Sheffield Wednesday. Derby are now on 37 goals. ASTON VILLA picked up their biggest result of the season to date after they won 4-2 at home to BIRMINGHAM CITY. Villa are now on a total of 32 goals while Birmingham are on 25 goals and they have extended their goal run to ten games. BRENTFORD lost 2-1 at home to Middlesbrough and that is their 34th goal of the season while NOTTINGHAM FOREST are also on 34 goals after they won 2-0 away to HULL who picked up their eighth blank of the season. BLACKBURN lost 4-1 away to Preston but that was their 32nd goal of the season.It’s 20 for ROTHERHAM as they drew 2-2 at home to Sheffield United. After a two game dry spell, STOKE are now on a total of 25 goals as they drew 2-2 at home against Queens Park Rangers. It’s 20 goals for SWANSEA but they went down 4-1 at home to Norwich.

LEAGUE ONE
We have the top six here this weekend as PORTSMOUTH have remained top this weekend as they win 2-1 away to SCUNTHORPE. Portsmouth are now on a total of 35 goals while Scunthorpe picked up goal number 32.  In second place is still SUNDERLAND again as they drew 2-2 away to Walsall. Sunderland are now on a total of 37 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seventeen games. BARNSLEY are still in third place after they drew 1-1 at home to Doncaster. Barnsley are now on 37 goals. LUTON are up to fourth place after they won 3-1 away to Gillingham. Luton are now on a total of 37 goals. Peterborough have fallen down to fifth place this weekend. CHARLTON are still in sixth place as they win 3-1 at home to BRISTOL ROVERS. Charlton are now on 35 goals while Rovers picked up goal number 21. SOUTHEND are on 32 goals after they lost 2-1 away to AFC Wimbledon. BURTON ALBION lost 3-0 away to Blackpool to pick up their third blank of the season. PLYMOUTH won 2-1 at home against Fleetwood and they are now on 25 goals. It’s 30 for ROCHDALE as they win 1-0 at home to ACCRINGTON STANLEY who picked up their fourth blank score sheet and now two in a row. WYCOMBE won 3-2 at home to SHREWSBURY and they are now on 33 goals to Shrewsbury's 26.

LEAGUE TWO
LINCOLN CITY are back on top on goal difference as they drew 1-1 at home to MANSFIELD. Lincoln are now on 41 goals while Mansfield are on 35 goals. MK DONS have moved down to second place this weekend after they lost 3-2 away to Stevenage. The Dons are now on a total of 32 goals. EXETER drew 1-1 away to Colchester and they are now on 32 goals. After a three game dry spell for goals, NOTTS COUNTY are on 24 goals after they drew 1-1 away to Morecombe. SWINDON won 1-0 away to Port Vale and they are now on 22 goals. OLDHAM drew 1-1 away to Tranmere and that is their 27th goal of the season.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Scottish Willimas Hill Cup third round we had seven of our Scottish teams in action over the weekend. DUMBARTON are out after they lost 3-0 away to Airdrie to pick up their sixth blank of the season. and now two in a row. ALLOA are through to the next round as they win 3-0 at home to Brechin. Alloa are now on a total of 22 goals. AYR UNITED will join them as they win 3-0 away to non-league Belth. Ayr are now on 43 goals. PETERHEAD drew their game 1-1 away to Morton to pick up goal number 28. RAITH ROVERS won 3-0 away to Queens Park and they have taken their goals total up to 36 goals. It’s 20 goals for STENHOUSEMUIR and a place in the next round after they beat FALKIRK 4-2 at home. Falkirk are now on a total of 14 goals.
In the Premiership, CELTIC are two point clear of rivals Rangers as they win 3-0 away to HAMILTON to take their goals tally up to 37. Hamilton picked up blank number nine and now two in a row. RANGERS in second place won 3-0 at home to Livingston and they are now on 42 goals. In third place is HEARTS lost 2-0 away to St Mirren and that is their sixth blank score sheet and now five in a row. ABERDEEN picked up their fourth blank score sheet as they lost 3-0 away to Motherwell. HIBERNIAN are on 26 goals as they drew 2-2 at home to bottom of the table Dundee.
In the Championship, ROSS COUNTY won 2-1 at home against Dunfermline and they are now on a total of 34 goals.

Our Best teams this week are SUNDERLAND after they have scored in all of their last seventeen League and Cup games out of twenty played. They have a total of 37 goals which gives them a average score of 1.8 goals per game.

Our worst team is FALKIRK this weekend as they have picked up a total of ten blank score sheets out of nineteen league and cup games played this season. They have scored five goals in their last eight games.

Our biggest result in our 36th Season are now WEST HAM UNITED who won 8-0 at home against Macclesfield in the Carabao/League Cup Third Round in Week Nine.

JAMES SOMERVILLE is back on top on goal difference this weekend as he collects a total of ten goals all coming from the weekend. James has now been top for a total of two weeks over the season. His teams are Ayr Utd, Celtic, Manchester City. GARY BROWN has moved back down to second place on goal difference as he picked up a total of nine goals at the weekend from Ayr Utd, Manchester City and Sunderland. 
At the other end at 133 we still have John Filtness at the bottom for his eighth consecutive weekend as he picks up a total of five goals all coming from the weekend. He has now had eleven weeks at the bottom and he is now eleven goals adrift. His teams are  Birmingham, Hamilton and Liverpool.

With the table beginning to settle a bit this weekend, here are the top ten.
