News Just In

As you have already seen on here that the English football league have currently postponed all English and Scottish games and had hoped to re start the 2019/20 Season on 4th April. However with the postponement of Euro 2020 till next year, it has now opened up a window for the domestic league fixtures to take place in June. At the current time the EFL will be suspended until at least 30 April because of the continued spread of coronavirus. Under current rules the season had been scheduled to end on 1 June.
A joint statement issued by the FA, Premier League and EFL expressed "a commitment to finding ways of resuming the 2019-20 season" and completing all domestic and European matches "as soon as it is safe and possible to do so".

Week Thirty-Three

This could be the every last News Sheet before our Final End of Season Sheet due to the cancellation of the football fixtures for the rest of the season here in the UK. So here are the very last results to keep you right up to date.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Only twenty of us managed to pick up some more goals this week and we had just one player that picked up the most amount of goals with seven. These belong to GUY DOWSETT with Cove Rangers. He also has Celtic and Manchester City. There are still seven players to reach the half way mark of 50 or more midweek goals this week.
This week we have a new leader and they are TOBY BICKNELL who moved up from two and picked up two goals from Portsmouth. He also has Celtic and Liverpool. Toby has a total of 93 goals. In second place with 92 goals is ANDY EYLES dropping down from one. In third place up from five is BARBARA BARNES (1) with a total of 89 goals. In fourth place down from three is MATT DORAN with a total of 88 goals. In fifth place we still have IAN SMITH with 87 goals. In sixth place both with 86 goals we have A&A. CLARK and PATRICK O’DONAGHUE both moving down from four.

WEEKEND RESULTS
There were no games over the weekend as they are were all cancelled from immediate affect. I think that it’s going to be a while before the EFL league and Scottish fixtures are back in full. What a big blow to our 37th Season. The Coronavirus is taking it’s toll over the last few days here in the UK and I very much doubt that they will be back any time soon if at all. Please keep your eye on our blog as I intend to keep you up to date as I can.

Our BEST three teams this week with Golden Goals are

CELTIC (108) MANCHESTER CITY (91) COVE RANGERS (82) Total of 281 goals

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE

PETERHEAD (33) STENHOUSEMUIR (36) NEWCASTLE (37) Total of 106 goals

Our on form team this weekend is again CELTIC after they have scored in all of their last twenty-seven games. They have a total of 108 goals which still gives them an average score of 2.9 goals per game.

Our worst team this week are HEARTS once again. They have picked up a total of fifteen blank score sheets out of forty games played. They have a total of 48 goals and just one vote.

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season is still LEICESTER CITY from Week Thirteen after they won 9-0 away to Southampton in the league.

This week we have GUY DOWSETT back on top after he picked up the seven goals, from Cove Rangers in midweek. This is Guy’s twelfth week at the top and his other teams are Celtic and Manchester City. He is now five goals clear of Bradley Clark who has moved down to second place with his combination of  Celtic, Liverpool and Manchester City.
There is good news for Guy as he moves up to 32nd place as he moves above Alec Short’s final score of  280 goals from the 1998/99 Season.
At the other end at 123 The SAINT has remained at the bottom, as he had none of his teams in action this week. This now means that The Saint has been at the bottom for a total of twenty-six weeks. His teams are Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.

So here it is. This could be the final position to the top ten for our 37th Season of Golden Goals.

Update on Season 37

Now we have to wait to find out when our football games can resume and to finish off the rest of the season. We have had extreme weather to knock out some of our games over the years, but this is the first time in our 37 year history that the whole to the ELF fixtures have been cancelled for three long weeks.
This will affect the performance of our teams as we have seen with Manchester City after their sort winter break. This is now going to be quite a different end to the season to when we first started it back in August of last year. If the Coronavirus has yet to peak here in the UK, I really cannot see this season finishing because in June we have the Euro 2020 starting but this could also now be affected.

So what does this all mean to all of the 123 players in this season’s Golden Goals Competition. We currently have twenty-seven players that are now in the winning frame and these will be paid out if the season fails to start up again. The 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot of £30 which has not been won yet, will be rolled over and added to next season’s jackpot. We have a total of six weeks left of the £6 Weekend Jackpot and these will be going towards our 40th Season of Golden Goals, which we hope will be the biggest season ever in our history for winning cash. As soon as we have any news of what is happening to this season, we will let you know as soon as we can on this blog. Meanwhile stay safe and wash them hands of yours when out and about.
