Week Three

 Well things seem to be okay with the English football for now.

Here we are with Week Three of the competition and we have our very first lady winner of the season SANDRA NICHOLLS. Sandra won on our highest score of the season with 13 goals and takes the full amount of prize money of £6.

Sandra’s combo has done very well this week picking up a total of 21 goals. She has had just one blank score sheet in the first weekend. Sandra has been with Golden Goals for a few seasons now and in our last one, she finished in 117th place on 200 goals. Sandra’s teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

All change in the lead for our 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot worth £40 this season. The prize money will go to the first person to reach 100 goals from their three teams.

Taking the lead after three weeks of football is MICK LIDDLE with a total of 16 goals. His combo are Celtic, Lincoln City and Manchester City. In second place we have EMMA SAWYER with a total of 15 goals. In third place we have 11 players with 14 goals each and in fourth place we have 12 players with 13 goals each.  

WEEKEND RESULTS

In our second near full weekend fixture and it was a lot better than last weekend. We had seven teams with no game over the weekend and another seventeen teams that failed to score any goals. But even so our second weekend the average score fell to just 4 goals. So if your combination picked up more than that, then you have done very well this week.

The Highest score over the weekend was five goals once again and they went to EVERTON and TOTTENHAM from the Premier League. Tottenham won 5-2 away to Southampton to pick up their first goals of the season. Everton won 5-2 at home to WEST BROM to take their goals tally up to 9 goals. West Brom are now on 5 goals and bottom of the league. 

PREMIERSHIP

The Premiership have now played their second league game of the season and most of them have done well. LEICESTER CITY are now  top of the league after they won 4-2 at home against Burnley. Leicester have now scored a total of 7 goals in two games played. With Everton now in second place, ARSENAL are down to third place after they beat London rivals WEST HAM 2-1 at home. Arsenal are now on a total of 5 goals while West Ham are on four. LIVERPOOL are fourth as they win 2-0 away to CHELSEA. Liverpool have now scored six goals in their two opening games. Chelsea picked up their first blank score sheet. BRIGHTON won 3-0 away to Newcastle to gte their first win and they are now on a total of 8 goals. LEEDS UNITED won 4-3 at home to FULHAM and they have taken their goals total to 8 goals while Fulham are now on four. MANCHESTER UNITED lost their first game 3-1 at home to Crystal Palace. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

READING are top this weekend after they won 2-0 at home to Barnsley. BRISTOL CITY are now second as they win 2-0 away to STOKE. City have now scored in all of their four games played and are on 10 goals. Stoke picked up their third blank score sheet out of four games played. LUTON are in third place as they win 2-1 at home against DERBY. Luton are on 7 goals while Derby are on two. BRENTFORD picked up their highest score of the season after they won 3-0 at home to Huddersfield. Brentford are on a total of 6 goals. After a two game dry spell for goals, MIDDLESBROUGH are now on 5 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to BOURNEMOUTH who are now on 4 goals. NORWICH drew 2-2 at home to PRESTON and they are on 4 goals while Preston are now on 8. NOTTINGHAM FOREST have still yet to score as they lost 2-0 at home to CARDIFF. Forest have failed to score in their three games played. Cardiff picked up their first goals this season. ROTHERHAM picked up their first blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 at home to Millwall. WATFORD picked up their second blank as they drew 0-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday. Both SWANSEA and BRIMINGHAM picked up their second blank of the season after they drew 0-0. 

LEAGUE ONE

Ipswich are top here this weekend with LINCOLN CITY in second place after they won 2-1 away to MK Dons. Lincoln have now scored in all of their four games and are now on 11 goals. HULL move into third place after they won 1-0 at home to CREWE. Hull are now on 4 goals while Crewe picked up their second blank in a row. PORTSMOUTH picked up their third consecutive blank score sheet after they drew 0-0 away to Rochdale. PLYMOUTH picked up their highest score to date as they drew 4-4 away to AFC Wimbledon. Plymouth are now on 10 goals and have scored in all of their first four games. SWINDON lost 2-0 away to Blackpool and that is their first blank of the season. ACCRINGTON STANLEY lost 2-1 away to Burton and they are now on a total of 4 goals. CHARLTON are now on six goals as they lost 3-1 at home to Doncaster. SUNDERLAND won their first league game 2-0 away to OXFORD UTD. Sunderland are now on three goals while Oxford picked up their second blank score sheet. PETERBOROUGH picked up their first goals as they win 2-1 at home to FLEETWOOD TOWN. Fleetwood are now on 8 goals. WIGAN lost 3-2 at home to Gillingham and they are now on 4 goals. 

LEAGUE TWO

New boys HARROGATE TOWN are down to third place after they drew 2-2 at home to Walsall.. Harrogate are now on a total of 7 goals. SOUTHEND lost their second league game 3-0 away to Carlisle and are now foot of the table. They have failed to score in their three games played. BOLTON lost 2-0 away to Colchester and that is their second blank in a row. SCUNTHORPE picked up their first as they lost 1-0 away to Crawley. EXETER lost 2-0 at home to Port Vale to pick up their second blank score sheet. SALFORD CITY picked up their highest result so far as they win 4-0 away to Grimsby. With their highest result to date CHELTENHAM are on 6 goals as they win 3-0 away to TRANMERE ROVERS. Rovers get their second blank of the season and now two in a row. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Scottish Premiership, RANGERS are still top after they drew 2-2 away to Hibernian. Rangers are now on a total of 17 goals. CELTIC are now in second place and one point behind Rangers as they win 3-2 at home to Livingston. Celtic have now scored in all of their seven league games and they are now on a total of 19 goals. ABERDEEN lost 3-0 at home to MOTHERWELL and that is their second blank of the season. Motherwell with their highest result to date and their second league win, are now on a total of 6 goals. 

Our BEST three teams this week with Golden Goals. They are 

CELTIC (19) RANGERS (17) LINCOLN CITY (11) Total of 47 goals 

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE 

NOTTINGHAM FOREST (0) SOUTHEND (0) CREWE (1) Total of 1 goals

Our Best team is CELTIC after scoring in all seven of their League games with a total of 19 goals. They are on an average score of 2.7 goals per game. 

Our worst team is MOTHERWELL this weekend as they have picked up a total of five blank score sheets in eight games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 38th Season are now EVERTON who beat WEST BROM 5-2 at home  TOTTENHAM won 5-2 away to Southampton. Both From League games in Week Three. CELTIC have scored five twice.  They first won 5-0 at home against Hamilton in their first league game and then again against Ross County winning 5-0 away in Week two.  

BOB SAWYER has moved to the top this weekend to become the third player this season to do so. Bob picked up

eleven goals with eight of them coming from the weekend. Bob’s teams are Brentford, Celtic and Liverpool. He is just a single goal in front of the following pack.

At the other end at 116 we now have Scott Clark this week and he becomes our third player to land there. Scott picked up just four goals this week.  His teams are Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.
