Week Twenty-One

In Week Twenty-One of the competition and it’s the start of the second half for us here at Golden Goals. This weekend we had a total of four players to share the cash Prize Money of £6 and two of them have won before. With two new winners this weekend we have now had a total of twenty-one winners to date and the four picked up just £1.50 pence each. Our winners are BARBARA BARNES (2), MICHAEL FISHER, SARAH MARSHALL and GRANT PHILLIPS they all won on a score of 11 goals each.

Barbara has picked up her fourth win with combo two which still makes her our highest winner this season. The last time that Barbara won was in Week Fourteen with another shared win. Her combo has still had just three blank weekend score sheets and third place is still her highest.

Sarah has picked up her second win of the season and she last won some cash in Week Four with her highest score of 12 goals. Sarah’s highest position is eighth place which is now her second weekend there. She has picked up three blank score sheets to date.

With their first win of the season, Michael started with us back in the 2014/15 Season on where he finished in 96th place with a total of 221 goals. Last season Michael finished in 48th place with 283 goals. This season he has also picked up three blank score sheets at the weekends and this is the highest that he has been to date.

Grant has been with us since the 2012/13 Season where he finished in the winning frame in 10th place with a total of 285 goals. In that season he picked up three weekend wins taking his winnings for the season to just under £22 in cash. Last season he finished in 11th place with 218 goals picking up just one shared weekend win. This season he has been as high as fifth place in Week Fourteen. 100 MIDWEEK GOALS

Most of us picked up some goals this week once again and it has changed the order in the race for the cash. We now have fifty-five players that are on or over the halfway stage to the cash. We had three players that picked up the most number of goals with eight each. They are STEVE AYRES, SIMON DICKINSON and CHRIS SETFORD. So here are the top five places this week. In the lead this week we have two players. RAYMOND HARROD remains there but now with CHRIS SETFORD moving up from four. Both are on a total of 59 goals. In second place both down from number one of last weekend we have STEVE REEVE and BOB SAWYER both of us are on a total of 57 goals each. In third place we have PAUL MORAN (Mango) down from two with SANA-CARLA-LYANNA moving up from five. Both are on a total of 56 goals. WEEKEND RESULTS

This weekend we still have the coronavirus and the weather interfering with the fixtures. We had a total of seventeen of our teams without a game over the weekend with another eleven that failed to score any goals. The good news is that only one player failed to pick up any goals at the weekend. So not a great weekend again as this weekends average score came up from four of last weekend back to 5 goals this weekend. The Highest score over the weekend was five goals and we had two teams that picked them up. They came from the FA CUP Fourth Round where SWANSEA won 5-1 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST. With their biggest result of the season, Swansea are now on a total of 36 goals. Swansea became our 60th voted English team and they started with Golden Goals back in the 1986/87 Season and finished with a total of 72 goals. Their highest score came in the 2007/08 Season with 96 goals. Last time out was back in the 2018/19 Season and finished on a total of 78 goals. This is their eleventh season with us and over the years they have scored a total of 766 goals which gives them an average score of 69 goals per season. This season they have just one vote.
