Week Five

Here in Week Five of the competition we have had our first covid-19 casualty of the season and they are the new boys SUTTON UNITED. They were due to play Colchester away at the weekend but the game was cancelled and will be replayed later in the season, which is good news. Sutton have just one vote this season and they are on a total of 5 goals.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

With no midweek games this week due to the International games, the race for the cash has remained the same as last week. In the lead we have GEOFF CARTHY and RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion, both are on a total of 23 goals. In second place we have PETER PORTER on a total of 22 goals. In third place all with 19 goals we have RAYMOND HARROD, LUCIFER and BOB SAWYER. In fourth place we have TOBY BICKNELL, GUY DOWSETT (2), SCOTT THOMSON (1), EMMA SAWYER and BOB SOPER. All are on a total of 18 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had just seven of our teams in action this weekend which means that this weekend the average score went down from four last weekend to a flat zero this weekend. The Highest score over the weekend was two goals and they came from CARLISLE UNITED. They won 2-1 at home to SALFORD CITY. Carlisle are on 6 goals while Salford picked up goal number 9. Carlisle United became our 59th voted English team and they first appeared in the 1986/87 Season where they finished on a total of 43 goals. Their highest score came in the 1996/97 Season with 81 goals. Last time out as back in the 2012/13 Season and they finished on a total of 63 goals. This is their seventh season with Golden Goals and over the years they have netted a total of 367 goals, which gives them an average score of 52 goals per season to date. This season they have just one vote.

LEAGUE ONE

Sunderland are top here this weekend as we only had one of our teams in action this weekend. They were OXFORD UNITED and they lost 3-1 away to AFC Wimbledon. Oxford are on a total of 10 goals and they remain in seventh place in the league.
