Week Seven

Here in Week Seven of the competition we had two winners to share this weekends jackpot of £5. They are DANNY HARRINGTON and BAILEY MORAN  which now gives us a total of eight players to win this season. Our winners won on a total of 8 goals each. Danny started with Golden Goals back in the 2006/07 Season on where he finished in 43rd place with a total of 243 goals and one shared weekend win. Last season Danny finished in 45th place with 259 goals. This season he has had just one blank score sheet at the weekend and this is his highest position to date. His best team is Sunderland. Bailey is in his second season with us and he finished in 68th place with a total of 246 goals last season. This season Bailey has also picked up one blank weekend score sheet and this is his highest position to date. Sunderland is also his best team. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 

We had a total of 34 players that picked up some midweek goals this week with eight picking up the highest score with four goals each. The race for the cash has changed from last week. In the lead this week we have GEOFF CARTHY now with a total of 25 goals. In second place we still have PETER PORTER now with a total of 24 goals. In third place down from one we have RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion, still on a total of 23 goals. In fourth place we still have BOB SOPER but he is now joined with LUCIFER down from three and COLIN WEBB coming back in all on a total of 22 goals. In fifth place is BOB SAWYER now on a total of 21 goals. In sixth place we have SCOTT THOMSON (1), EMMA SAWYER both down from four and with a total of 20 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS We had all of our 54 teams in action this weekend and out of them sixteen of them failed to score any goals. Once again is was not a very high scoring weekend as this weekend average score went down from six to just 4 goals this weekend. The Highest score over the weekend was four goals and they came from WIGAN. They won 4-1 away to Accrington. With their biggest result of the season, Wigan are now on a total of 13 goals. 

Wigan became our 83rd voted English team and they first appeared in the 1992/93 Season ending with a total of 51 goals. Their highest end of season score came in the 2017/18 Season with 106 goals, which is the only time that they have netted 100 or more goals in a season. Last season they finished on a total of 58 goals. This is their 14th Season with us and over the years they have netted a total of 893 goals, which gives them an average score of 63 goals per season to date. This season they have picked up just one blank score sheet out of nine games played. They have just one vote. 

PREMIER LEAGUE 

After five league games, CHELSEA are top this weekend after they won 3-0 away to TOTTENHAM. Chelsea have now scored in all of their five games and they are on a total of 12 goals. Tottenham have picked up their second blank of the season and now two in a row. LIVERPOOL have moved up to second place as they win 3-0 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE. Liverpool are also now on a total of 12 goals and a goal run of five games.  Palace have picked up their fourth blank in six games. MANCHESTER UNITED drop down to third place after they won 2-1 away to WEST HAM. United are on a total of 13 goals and have scored in their first five games. West Ham picked up goal number 11. ASTON VILLA won 3-0 at home against Everton and they are now on a total of 14 goals. ARSENAL have won their second consecutive league game by winning 1-0 away to Burnley. Arsenal are on 8 goals. MANCHESTER CITY drew 0-0 at home to Southampton and that is their second blank score sheet in five games. After a two game dry spell for goals, WATFORD are now on a total of 7 goals as they win 3-1 away to bottom of the table Norwich. WOLVES lost 2-0 at home to BRENTFORD and that is their fourth blank of the season as Brentford take their goals tally to 8. BRIGHTON won 2-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY to give them a total of 9 goals to Leicester’s 5. 

CHAMPIONSHIP 

BOURNEMOUTH are now top here after they won 1-0 away to CARDIFF CITY. Bournemouth are on 19 goals as Cardiff picked up their third blank and now two games in a row with out a goal. FULHAM are still in second place as they lost again 2-1 at home to READING. Fulham are on 20 goals while Reading are on 15. WEST BROM are now in third place after they drew 1-1 away to PRESTON. West Brom picked up goal number 14 to Preston’s 16. BARNSLEY picked up their fourth blank after they drew 0-0 at home to Blackburn. After a two game dry spell, it’s 10 goals for DERBY as they win 2-1 at home to Stoke. Bottom of the table NOTTINGHAM FOREST won their first league game with a  2-1 away win over Huddersfield. Forest are on 9 goals. After a record six games without a goal, HULL picked up their sixth goal of the season but lost 2-1 at home to SHEFFIELD UNITED. United are on a total of 15 goals. After a two game dry spell for goals, SWANSEA drew 3-3 away to Luton after going three goals down. Swansea are now on a total of 14 goals. PETERBOROUGH picked up their highest result to date as they win 3-0 at home to Birmingham. 

LEAGUE ONE 

Wigan are top here this weekend after their win with SUNDERLAND now in second place. Sunderland drew 2-2 away to Fleetwood and they are on a total of 17 goals and they have now scored in all of their last five games. PLYMOUTH have extended their goal run to eight games as they win 1-0 away to AFC Wimbledon. BOLTON lost 2-0 at home to ROTHERHAM and that is their fifth blank of the season. Rotherham are on 11 goals this week. It’s now two blanks in a row and three for the season as OXFORD UNITED lost 1-0 away to Cheltenham. BURTON ALBION picked up their third as they lost 2-0 away to Crewe. Burton have netted just two goals in their last five games. LINCOLN CITY lost 1-0 at home to IPSWICH. Lincoln picked up their third blank score sheet while Ipswich picked up goal number 11 and are on a goal run of six games. After failing to score in their last three games, PORTSMOUTH picked up goal number 6 as they lost 2-1 at home to Cambridge Utd. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY drew 1-1 at home to Shewsbury and that is goal number six after they failed to score in their last two games. WYCOMBE won 2-1 at home to CHARLTON and they are on 12 goals to Charlton’s 6.   

LEAGUE TWO 

The highest team that we have here is now EXETER CITY in fifth place. They won their third league game 2-0 at home to SUTTON UNITED. Exeter are on 11 goals while Sutton picked up their second blank of the season. CARLISLE drew 2-2 at home to SCUNTHORPE. Carlisle have now scored in all of their last five games and are on 9 goals. Scunthorpe after a two game dry spell are on 6. SWINDON picked up another single goal as they drew 1-1 away to Northampton. They have now picked up a total of 9 goals with five goals coming in their last five games. STEVENAGE lost 4-0 at home to Forest Green and that is their second blank of the season. SALFORD CITY picked up their third as they lost 2-0 away to Tranmere.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES 

In the Premiership, RANGERS are still top after they drew 1-1 at home to Motherwell. Rangers are on 16 goals and they have now scored in all of their last five games. HEARTS are still in third place after they drew 2-2 away to Ross County. Hearts are on a total of 19 goals. CELTIC lost 1-0 away to Livingston and that is their second blank in their last three games. ABERDEEN picked up their second consecutive blank score sheet after they lost 1-0 at home to St Johnstone. 

In the Championship, KILMARNOCK are in second place after they won 2-0 away to Partick. Kilmarnock are on 15 goals. 

In League Two, KELTY HEARTS remain in top position as they win 3-0 away to Albion. Kelty are on a total of 24 goals and they have scored in all of their last seven games. STENHOUSEMUIR lost 2-0 away to Stranraer and that is their third blank of the season. 

Our on-form team is PLYMOUTH after scoring in all of their last eight League/Cup games with a total of 15 goals. 

Our worst team this week are HULL after they have picked up six blank score sheets out of nine games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season in our ever growing list are CELTIC who have now hit six goals twice. They first won 6-0 at home against Dundee in their second league game in Week One and again 6-0 at home in their third league game in Week Three. ARSENAL beat West Brom 6-0 away and ASTON VILLA won 6-0 away to Barrow both in the second round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Four. SHEFIELD UNITED won 6-2 at home to PETERBOROUGH in the league in Week Six.

CHRIS BOLBERY is in his fifth consecutive weekend at the top and now six weeks out of the seven played. He picked up a total of five goals for the week. Chris’s teams are Bournemouth, Celtic and Sunderland. He is just three goals in front of second place Guy Dowsett (2) who picked up a total of seven goals all from the weekend with Kelty Hearts, Liverpool and Rangers.

At the other end at 113 we have ZIGGY (John Wood) back this weekend which is now his third weekend at the bottom. Ziggy has now been there the longest this season after picking up just two goals at the weekend from his combo of Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir.
