Week Twenty-Five

In Week Twenty-Five of the competition we had  our twenty-sixth winner of the season and it goes to ABBEY NEWMAN. Abbey won with a score of 8 goals and she picks up the full £5 Weekend Cash Prize Money. Abbey has been with Golden Goals for a total of nine years and she started back in the 2014/15 Season. In her first season Abbey finished in 82nd place with a total of 238 goals. Last season she finished with a total of 224 goals which left her in 97th place. Abbey like most of us have been up and down all season and her highest position is fifth place in Week One. She has picked up just two blank weekend score sheets and Manchester City is her best team to date. Abbey’s winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

All but six players managed to pick up some midweek goals this week and the leader is pulling away from the rest of the pack this week. We now have forty-nine players that are nearer to that 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot this week. It was MANGO (Paul Moran) that picked up the most goals with a total of twelve. They came from Chelsea, Fulham and Rangers.

We still have LYANNA GRIMWOOD in the lead with a new total of 86 goals. Lyanna teams are Fulham. Manchester City and Sunderland. In second place we now have BOB SOPER moving up from third place with a total of 80 goals. In third place down from two is LOUIE HARRINGTON with a total of 78 goals. In fourth place with 71 goals we now have PETER PORTER up from five. In fifth place we now have down from four we have KEAMUS SETNA and joining him this week we have COLIN WEBB and JAMIE WOOD all on a total of 69 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but three of our teams in action this weekend, Out of the ones that did play eleven failed to score any goals. The weekend average score went up from three goals last weekend to 4 goals this weekend. The good news is that there were no cancelled games to Covid this weekend.

The highest score came from HEARTS with a total of five goals who played in the WILLIAM HILL SCOTTISH CUP third round. They won 5-0 away to non-league team Auchinicel Talbot and that has now taken their goals tally to 46 goals.   

PREMIER LEAGUE

MANCHESTER CITY are still leading the way even after they drew 1-1 away to Southampton. City are on a total of 65 goals and have now scored in all of their last fourteen games. LIVERPOOL are still in second place as they win 3-1 away to CRYSTAL PALCE. Liverpool are now on a total of 72 goals while Palace picked up goal number 33. CHELSEA are still in third place as they win 2-0 against London rivals TOTTENHAM. Chelsea are on a total of 60 goals as Tottenham picked up their eighth blank of the season. MANCHESTER UNITED have moved up to fourth place as they win 1-0 at home to WEST HAM with a very late goal. United are on a total of 37 goals while West Ham are down to fifth place picking up their sixth blank of the season after a goal run of seven games. WATFORD lost 3-0 at home to Norwich and that is their ninth blank score sheet. BRENTFORD lost 2-1 at home to WOLVES after going a goal up. Brentford are on a total of 42 goals as Wolves are on 28. ASTON VILLA are on 35 goals as they win 1-0 away to Everton. LEICESTER CITY drew 1-1 at home to BRIGHTON and that was their 45th goal of the season while Brighton hit goal number 31 and a goal run of seven games now. It’s all going wrong at ARSENAL as they drew 0-0 at home against Burnley to pick up their ninth blank of the season. Arsenal have now failed to score in their last four games. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

Goal scoring FULHAM are still top here after they won 3-2 away to Stoke. Fulham are now on a total of 76 goals with 22 of them coming from their last four games. BOURNEMOUTH are in second place despite them losing 1-0 at home to HULL. Bournemouth have now had six blank score sheets while Hull picked up goal number 26.

In the Play-Offs we still have just one team and they are WEST BROM. They won 3-0 at home to PETERBOROUGH and they are now on a total of 35 goals. Borough picked up their fourteenth blank of the season.

Meanwhile BARNSLEY lost 2-1 away to Birmingham to pick up goal number 22 and are now bottom of the table. CARDIFF lost 3-2 away to Bristol City and they are on a total of 33 goals. NOTTINGHAM FOREST are on 38 goals as they win 2-1 at home to DERBY who are now on a total of 30 goals. READING lost 4-3 at home to Huddersfield and they have taken their goals total to 34. SHEFFIELD UNITED won 2-0 at home to Luton and they are on 36 goals. SWANSEA won 1-0 at home to PRESTON and that is goal number 37 for them while Preston pick up their ninth blank of the season. 

LEAGUE ONE

We have the top two teams here and they are now WIGAN who have moved to the top as they win 3-2 at home to Gillingham. Wigan are now on a total of 55 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eleven games. SUNDERLAND are still in second place after they won 1-0 at home to PORTSMOUTH. Sunderland are on a total of 61 goals and a goal run of fourteen games. Portsmouth picked up their eighth blank score sheet and now two in a row and they have scored just one goal in their last four games.

In the Play-Offs we have three teams. they are ROTHERHAM in third place after they won 1-0 at home to Cheltenham.

Rotherham are on a total of 52 goals. WYCOMBE have moved down to fourth place after they lost 3-2 away to Morecambe. Wycombe are on a total of 51 goals. OXFORD UNITED are now in sixth place as they win 3-2 at home to SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. Oxford are now on a total of 49 goals after a two game dry spell. Wednesday have taken their goals tally up to 38.

Meanwhile BURTON ALBION drew 1-1 at home to AFC Wimbledon and they are on a total of 37 goals and a goal run of nine games. It’s 40 goals for CHARLTON after they won 2-0 at home against Fleetwood. IPSWICH won 2-1 at home to Accrington and they are on a total of 48 goals. PLYMOUTH lost 2-1 at home to LINCOLN CITY and they are on a total of 52 goals and have now scored in all of their last nine games. Lincoln have taken their goals tally up to 34. BOLTON drew 1-1 away to Shrewsbury and that is goal number 38 for them. 

LEAGUE TWO

The highest team that we have here now are SUTTON UNITED in third place. They drew 0-0 at home to Northampton and that is their fourth blank of the season after a goal run of twelve games.

In the Play-Offs we are left with just SWINDON who are now down to sixth place after they drew 1-1 at home to Bristol Rovers. Swindon are now on a total of 46 goals.

Meanwhile CARLISLE UNITED lost 3-0 away to Forest Green and that is their fourteenth blank and now two in a row. STEVENAGE drew 1-1 away to Hartlepool and they are on a total of 33 goals. After a goal run of six games, SALFORD CITY picked up their sixth blank of the season as they lost 3-0 at home to Colchester. SCUNTHORPE are now second from bottom after they lost 1-0 at home to Newport. They have now had a total of thirteen blank score sheets and now four in a row. EXETER CITY won 2-0 away to Walsall and they have taken their goals total to 41.

SCUNTHORPE (19) CARISLE (22) BARNSLEY (22) Total of 63 goals 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the WILLIAM HILL SCOTTISH CUP  third round we had five of our Scottish teams playing over the weekend and the good news is that we already know about Rangers and now Hearts but what of the others? Well we can add another three teams to the list. They are CELTIC who won 2-1 away to Alloa which now gives them a total of 55 goals. ABERDEEN as they win 3-0 at home to Edinburgh City. Aberdeen are now on a total of 30 goals. KELTY HEARTS won 1-0 at home to St Johnston and that is goal number 57. The team that went out of the cup was KILMARNOCK who lost 2-1 at home to Dundee Utd. Kilmarnock are on a total of 36 goals. 

Our on-form team are now RANGERS after scoring in all of their last twenty-three League/Cup games out of 25 games played. They have a total of 56 goals. 

Our worst teams this week are BOLTON, CARLISLE UNITED and PETERBOROUGH after all three teams have now picked up fourteen blank score sheets. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season are FULHAM who have now scored seven goals twice this season. They first won 7-0 away to Blackburn Rovers in the league in Week Fourteen and they have also won 7-0 away to Reading in the league in Week Twenty-Four. MANCHESTER CITY winning 7-0 at home to Leeds Utd in the league in Week Twenty. CHELSEA won 7-0 at home to Norwich in the league in Week Twelve. BRENTFORD won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the third round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Eight.

LYANNA GRIMWOOD is back at the top this weekend as she picks up a total of eleven goals for the week. The last time that Lyanna was at the top was back in Week Twelve. Her teams are Fulham, Manchester City and Sunderland. Lyanna is just one goal in front of  Peter Wellard who moves in to second place this weekend. Peter’s teams are Chelsea, Fulham and Manchester City.

At the other end at 113 we still have ZIGGY (John Wood) again this weekend which is now his nineteenth consecutive weekend at the bottom and now twenty-one over the season. Ziggy picked up one goal from the weekend. His teams are Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir.
