Week Twenty-Three

In Week Twenty-Three of the competition we had our third player to receive their second win of the season. The full £5 Weekend Cash Prize money went to DANNY HARRINGTON who won on  a score of 12 goals. Danny last won in Week Seven where he had to share the weekend win on eight goals. Since then Danny has remained on the first page and he has now picked up a total of three weekend blank score sheets to date. This is the highest that Danny has been all season. Liverpool is his best team and one of the lucky players to still have all of his three teams in action. His winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 

Only half of us managed to pick up some midweek goals this week but the leader is pulling away from the rest of the pack. We now have twenty-seven players that are nearer to that 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot this week. 

We still have LOUIE HARRINGTON in the lead with a new total of 77 goals. In second place we have LYANNA GRIMWOOD with a total of 72 goals. In third place up from four we now have KEAMUS SETNA with a total of 66 goals. In fourth place with 65 goals we now have PETER PORTER down from three on a total of 65 goals. In fifth place we now have MICHAEL PEPPERRELL with a total of 63 goals. In Sixth place down from four we now have  BOB SOPER with a total of 62 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS 

We had forty-one of our teams that managed to play this weekend which has come of a bit of a relief. Out of the ones that did play most of them were in cup action and only six failed to score any goals. The weekend average score with thanks from the FA Cup round went up from just two goals last weekend to 4 goals this weekend. The Highest score came from two of our teams in the FA Cup. They were BARNSLEY and CHELSEA where both teams picked up a total of 5 goals each. 

FA CUP Third Round 

We had some really shocking results in this round with Premier League teams going out. Manchester City was our first team to go through to round four in midweek and we had another 28 of our teams in cup action over the weekend. Out of them 17 are through to round four. The teams through are CHELSEA who won 5-1 at home to non-league Chesterfield. Chelsea are now on a total of 56 goals and they have now scored in all of their last six games. LEICESTER CITY won 4-1 at home to WATFORD and they are now on a total of 42 goals and are now on a goal run of eight games. Watford picked up goal number 25. CRYSTAL PALACE won 2-1 away to Millwall and they are on a total of 31 goals. PETERBOROUGH are back in action and they won 2-1 at home to Bristol Rovers and they are on a total of 22 goals. BRENTFORD won 4-1 away to Port Vale and they have taken their goals tally to 39. WEST HAM won 2-0 at home to Leeds and they are on a total of 41 goals. WIGAN are back in action and they won 3-2 at home to Blackburn and they are now on a total of 48 goals. BOURNEMOUTH won 3-1 away to non-league Yeovil and they are now on a total of 49 goals. LIVERPOOL won 4-1 at home to Shrewsbury and they have taken their goals tally to 64. NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 1-0 at home to ARSENAL and that is goal number 35 for them after failing to score in their previous two games. Arsenal after a goal run of nine games, picked up their sixth blank of the season. TOTTENHAM won 3-1 at home to Morecambe and they are now on a total of 31 goals. WOLVES won 3-0 at home to SHEFFIELD UNITED and are now on a total of 23 goals while United who are now back in action, picked up their eighth blank of the season.  BRIGHTON won 2-1 away to WEST BROM after extra time and they are on a total of 28 goals while West Brom picked up goal number 32. BARNSLEY won 5-4 at home to Barrow after extra time. With their highest result of the season, Barnsley have taken their goals tally up to 21 goals. PLYMOUTH won 1-0 away to Birmingham after extra time to pick up goal number 49. FULHAM are back in play and won 1-0 away to Bristol City in extra time. Fulham are on 54 goals. CARDIFF CITY won 2-1 at home to PRESTON after extra time and they are on a total of 31 goals to Preston’s total of 38. Other teams that went out of the cup are DERBY who lost 1-0 away to Coventry and picked up their ninth blank of the season. READING lost 2-1 away to non-league Kidderminster but they are now on a total of 30 goals. CHARLTON lost  1-0 at home to Norwich and that is their seventh blank of the season and now three in a row. HULL lost 3-2 at home to Everton after extra time and they are now on a total of 23 goals. SWANSEA are back in action but lost 3-2 at home to Southampton after extra time. Swansea are on a total of 35 goals. ROTHERHAM drew 1-1 away to QPR after extra time and then lost 8-7 on penalties. Rotherham are on a total of 51 goals. 

LEAGUE ONE 

We had six teams that played here. Rotherham who lost in the cup this weekend are still top with SUNDERLAND still in second place. They drew 3-3 away to WYCOMBE and they are now on a total of 58 goals and a goal run of eleven games. Wycombe are on a total of 45 goals. 

In the Play-Offs we have all four teams. they are Wycombe in third place with Wigan moving down to fourth place. OXFORD UNITED are still in fifth place after they lost 2-0 away to LINCOLN CITY. Oxford have now had a total of six blank score sheets while Lincoln take their goals total to 29. Plymouth are in sixth place. 

Meanwhile IPSWICH won 4-0 away to Gillingham and they are now on a total of 46 goals. BURTON ALBION drew 1-1 away to Cheltenham and they are on 33 goals and they have now scored in all of their lasts even games. 

LEAGUE TWO 

We had just four teams that played here this weekend. In the Play-Offs we have Sutton United who are in fourth place with Swindon in fifth place. 

Meanwhile CARLISLE won 2-0 at home to Bradford and they are on a total of 21 goals. SALFORD CITY are back in action and they won 2-0 away to Newport. They are now on a total of 30 goals. STEVENAGE after they had failed to score in their last four games, picked up their highest result of the season as they win 3-1 at home to Walsall. Stevenage are now on a total of 27 goals. SCUNTHORPE lost 4-0 away to Tranmere and that is their eleventh blank score sheet and now two in a row. 

Our BEST three teams this week are 

LIVERPOOL (64) MANCHESTER CITY (63) SUNDERLAND (58) Total of 185 goals 

Our WORST three teams are 

SCUNTHORPE (19) CARISLE (21) BARNSLEY(21) Total of 61 goals 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES 

We had just three of our Scottish teams playing over the weekend as the Premiership are still in their winter break. 

In the Championship KILMARNOCK won 2-0 away to Queen of South and they are now on a total of 34 goals and remain in third place.

In League Two KELTY HEARTS remained top here as they win again 3-0 away to Stirling. Kelty are now on a total of 54 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR won 2-1 away to Albion and they are on a total of 39 goals.

Our on-form team are now RANGERS after scoring in all of their last twenty-one League/Cup games out of 23 games played. They have a total of 51 goals. 

Our worst team this week are PETERBOROUGH  after they have now picked up thirteen blank score sheets out of twenty-five games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season are now MANCHESTER CITY winning 7-0 at home to Leeds Utd in the league in Week Twenty. FULHAM won 7-0 away to Blackburn Rovers in the league in Week Fourteen. CHELSEA won 7-0 at home to Norwich in the league in Week Twelve. BRENTFORD won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the third round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Eight. 

KEAMUS SETNA our 2005/06 Champion is now celebrating his third consecutive weekend the top. Keamus picked up a total of eleven goals over the week. His teams are Liverpool Manchester City and Sunderland. Keamus is now just two goals in front of Julia Wood still in second place. Julia has Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City. 

At the other end at 113 we still have ZIGGY (John Wood) again this weekend which is now his ninth consecutive weekend at the bottom. Ziggy did picked four goals at the weekend. His teams are Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir.

So the top two players have kept their place but the rest have changed in the top ten.
