Week Forty-One

In Week Forty-One of the competition, we are now into time added on, or the old injury time. More of our teams have finished their season but we had a rubbish weekend for goals. The highest score that we had, came from HAYLEY ADKINS with 8 goals. They came from Aberdeen and Manchester City with 4 goals each and her third team is Liverpool. 

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

We still have a total of 20 players that have reached 100 or more goals this week as the race still goes on. The record to beat is 136 midweek goals by the record holder Daryl Nicholls from the 2016/17 Season.

Leading the race for the record this week, we still have MARK JOHNSTON on a total of 126 goals. In second place we have BAILEY MORAN now with a total of 123 goals. In third place we now have ANDY EYLES with a total of 121 goals. In fourth place we now have TONY KING with a total of 120 goals. In fifth place with 118 goals we now have ANN WELLARD and in sixth place this week, we have GEOFF CARTHY with a total of 117 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 22 of our teams in action over the weekend and out of them 6 failed to score any goals. We now have a total of 28 of our teams that have now finished their season. We did not have a very good weekend on the goals front. The highest score that we had was 4 goals, and we had two teams that picked them up. They came from ABERDEEN and MANCHESTER CITY. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

ARSENAL are still on top this weekend after they won 1-0 away to MANCHESTER UNITED. Arsenal are on a total of 91 goals while United picked up their 10th blank of the season and now 2 games without a goal. MANCHESTER CITY remained in second place after they won 4-0 away to FULHAM. City are now on a total of 106 goals and they have scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. Fulham picked up their 13th blank of the season and now 2 games without a goal. Liverpool remained in third place while Aston Villa remained in fourth place. TOTTENHAM won 2-1 at home to Burnley and are on a total of 73 goals. AFC BOURNEMOUTH lost 2-1 at home against Brentford and are on a total of 67 goals. NEWCASTLE drew 1-1 at home to BRIGHTON and are on a total of 90 goals while Brighton picked up goal number 63. WEST HAM won 3-1 at home against Luton and have taken their goals total to 65. CRYSTAL PALACE won 3-1 away to Wolves and are now on a total of 56 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 7 games. NOTTINGHAM FOREST lost 3-2 at home to CHELSEA. Forest are on a total of 53 goals while Chelsea are now on a total of 99 goals. 

CHAMPIONSHIP Play-offs 1st Leg

We had three of the four teams. and they are NORWICH who finished in sixth place played LEEDS UNITED who finished in third place. Their 1st leg game ended 0-0. Norwich picked up their 7th blank of the season and now 2 games in a row. Leeds picked up their 10th blank of the season. SOUTHAMPTON finishing in fourth place, drew their 1st leg game 0-0 away to West Brom. That is Southampton’s 7th blank of the season. So it’s still all to play for here. 

LEAGUE TWO Play-offs 2nd Leg

We had just one of our teams that made it to the play-offs and they were MK DONS. They went 3-0 down in the 1st leg game against Crawley Town and they also lost the 2nd leg 5-1 at home. The Dons lost 8-1 on aggregate and finished the season on a total of 86 goals. 

SCOTTISH RESULTS

In the Premiership Champions CELTIC beat their rivals RANGERS 2-1 at home. Celtic have become our 7th team to score 100 goals as they have taken their goals tally up to 101 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. Second place Rangers are on 99 goals. ROSS COUNTY lost 5-1 at home to Motherwell and are on a total of 53 goals. KILMARNOCK on 1-0 away to St Mirren and are on a total of 61 goals. After they had scored in all of their last 7 games, HIBERNIAN lost 4-0 at home to ABERDEEN. Hibs picked up their 10th blank of the season while Aberdeen have taken their goals total to 56. 

Our BEST three teams this week 

 FALKIRK (108) LIVERPOOL (108) IPSWICH (104) Total of 320 goals 

Our WORST three teams are 

 EAST FIFE (49) SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY (52) STENHOUSEMUIR (53)  

Total of 154 goals 

Our Best performing team are FALKIRK after they have scored in all of their last 23 league/cup games. They have a total of 108 goals which gives them an average score of 2.5 goals per game. 

Our worst performing teams are SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY and SUNDERLAND as they both have picked up 19 blank score sheets each out of Wednesday’s 51 league/cup games and Sunderland’s 48 league/cup games. 

Our highest goal scoring teams in our 41st Season are NEWCASTLE UNITED after they won 8-0 away to Sheffield United in a league game in Week Eight.

JOHN FILTNESS is still at the top this weekend as he picked up a total of 4 goals at the weekend. He has now been at the top for a total of 14 weeks throughout the season. His teams are Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester City. John has remained in 16th place in our “Champions League” this week. Andrew Hammond has remained in second place this weekend. Andrew picked up a total of 7 goals from the weekend with his teams of  Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City. He is now 4 goals behind John.

At the other end at 110 we still have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) for his 22nd consecutive weekend. John picked up just 2 goals at the weekend. John has Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir. John has moved up to 30th place in our “Losers League” this week. 

No real movement in our top ten this weekend.
