We are still having a very slow trickle of entries coming in
and we have had a total of four from yesterday. That now brings our total up to
57 and half way to our target. Why only half way? Well I would love to beat our
1999/00 Season record number of 111 entries. It also means that more people
that take part in this competition, the more prize money there is for you to
win.
We have now had three new names to our list. Last week we
had Tony Skinner and yesterday we have added Terrie Goodey and Mark Unstead. It’s great to see
new names in the competition so I would like to wish them the very best of luck
for the coming season and thanks for joining in with the fun.
So far we have had just seven of our past champions taking
part in our next season and one of them includes me, so what about the rest of
you out there?
Still out of the top
26 winners from last season, 22 of them are back in. In fact out of the top 50
from last season, 38 have come back in already. So where are the people that are looking at this blog but
not asking about how much is it to join in and how can I get my hands on the
entry form? Would it not be great if you were the only person to represent your
country? We have had plenty of hits from USA and Russia but still, not a word.
Well we can only hope that the outside world will take part in this unique
competition Golden Goals.
The voting is still as it was really with all of our top six
teams keeping well out in front. Celtic are still on 28 votes out of 57 while
Rangers have picked up a few more and are now on 24. In joint third place now
are Chelsea and Man UTD both with 20 votes each. Fourth is Arsenal with 16
votes and Man City still have that 12 vote.
We have an old team back for this season and they are Brentford. They were in our very first
season with Golden Goals back in our 1983/84 season where they finished on a
total of 84 goals. They have now been in our competition for a total of twelve
seasons and their best was back in our 1998/99 with a total of 95 goals. Last
time out was back in our 2004/05 Season and they finished with 68 goals. This
will be their 13th season with us and for now just one vote.
