Week Sixteen

We are now back to a full league fixture this weekend but we had three teams that had no game and another eight teams that failed to pick up any goals for us. Not a high scoring weekend really but we did have a high score of four goals each from DUNFERMLINE and LEYTON ORIENT.
Dunfermline picked up another four goals as they win 4-0 at home to Stirling. Dunfermline are now on a total of 30 goals.
Leyton Orient picked up their highest score of the season as they win 4-1 at home to Crewe. Orient are now on 27 goals.
 
PREMIERSHIP
CHELSEA are still there as they win 2-0 at home to West Brom. Chelsea are now on 34 goals and seven points clear of second place Southampton. Chelsea are now the only team with a 100% scoring record with Golden Goals this weekend after a total of fourteen games. MANCHESTER CITY are third as they win 2-1 at home against Swansea and they are now on a total of 31 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED have moved up to fourth place as they win 2-1 away to ARSENAL who are now down to eighth place. United are now on a total of 19 goals which just moves them out of our worst team frame this weekend. Arsenal picked up goal number 21. EVERTON are on 22 goals as they beat West ham 2-1 at home. QPR picked up their 6th blank of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Newcastle while CRYSTAL PALACE are on a total of 22 goals as they win 3-1 at home against LIVERPOOL. Liverpool picked up goal number 19. TOTTENHAM won 2-1 away to Hull and take their goals tally to 21.
 
CHAMPIONSHIP
DERBY are top here as they win 2-1 away to WATFORD and that now gives them a total of 45 goals while Watford are on 33. CHARLTON drew 0-0 at home to London rivals Millwall and that was their 5th blank score sheet of the season. LEEDS picked up goal number 24 but lost 2-1 away to Blackburn. NORWICH have not had a big score for a while but they drew 3-3 at home against Brighton to give them a total of 31 goals this weekend. ROTHERHAM lost 1-0 at home to Birmingham and that was their 9th blank of the season and now four games without a goal. WIGAN are on 20 as they drew 1-1 at home to Middlesbrough. NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 3-0 away to WOLVES and that now gives them a total of 33 goals while Wolves picked up their 5th blank and now two games in a row.
 
LEAGUE ONE
BRISTOL CITY are still top in this league this weekend as they lost 1-0 at home to PRESTON in third place. City have now had a total of three blank score sheets and now two games in a row while Preston picked up goal number 36. MK DONS are fourth after the won 1-0 at home against Port Vale and that was their 44th goal of the season. It’s 32 goals for SHEFFIELD UNITED as they drew 1-1 at home to Oldham while COVENTRY won 1-0 away to Colchester to pick up goal number 23. BARNSLEY lost 2-1 away to Chesterfiled but picked up goal number 32. SCUNTHORPE drew 2-2 away to Crawley and are now on 24 goals while PETERBOROUGH are on 28 goals but they lost 2-1 at home to Swindon. DONCASTER have had a very good week for goals whith four in midweek they picked up another three goals in their 3-1 away win over Rochdale. Doncaster are now on 25 goals.
 
LEAGUE TWO
LUTON are down to third place this weekend as they lost 1-0 away to Burton to pick up their 5th blank score sheet of the season. BURY have moved down to 7th place as they lost 3-1 at home to Newport Co. Bury are on 32 goals. STEVENAGE lost 1-0 away to Northampton to pick up their 6th blank score sheet while PORTSMOUTH have had a funny week after going out of the FA Cup in midweek, they win 3-0 at home to Morecombe and are now on 24 goals.
 
SCOTTISH LEAGUES                                                                                                                       
In Scotland all but one team picked up some goals this weekend and the team that failed to score any goals was RANGERS.
After a run of eighteen games with goals, Rangers picked up their first blank score sheet of the season as they lost 2-0 away to HEARTS. Hearts are on 39 goals and they have scored in all of their last eight games. CELTIC are on 36 goals as they win 2-1 at home to Dundee. STENHOUSEMUIR are on 22 goals as they lost 3-1 away to Morton.

QUEENS PARK RANGERS are still our worst team for this season. After a total of thirteen games, in which twelve are league games and a cup game, Rangers have now picked up just eleven goals and they have now had six blank score sheets.
 
MANCHESTER CITY  have picked up our highest score of  the season when they won their Capital One Cup third round tie against Sheffield Wednesday 7-0 at home.
 
PORTSMOUTH and ROTHERHAM  have both now picked up the most number of blank score sheets this season with a total of nine games each. 
 
We are following Manchester City record breaking end of season score of 137 goals from last season, In Week sixteen last season, City had no midweek game but at the weekend they picked up another six goals. Their goals tally has now risen to 41 goals after fourteen games played. They have had two blank score sheet’s and their highest score was seven goals against Norwich in the league.
This season they also had no midweek and at the weekend they could only pick up two goals against Swansea. So they are now on a total of 31 goals this weekend. They have still had two blank score sheet after fourteen games. They are now ten goals behind last seasons record run. They are away to Southampton this weekend.

Portsmouth Out of FA Cup


We had a shock result from one of our teams in Golden Goals in the FA CUP first round replay last night as PORTSMOUTH are knocked out of the competition by non-league Aldershot 1-0.
That was Portsmouth 9th blank score sheet of the season out of 21 league/cup games and now two games in a row. Portsmouth  drew their first cup game with Aldershot 2-2 at home.

FA CUP Results


At last DONCASTER have played their game against on-league side Weston-Super-Mare in the first round of the FA CUP. Doncaster won 4-1 away and with their biggest score of the season, they are now on a total of 22 goals.
This is Doncaster’s  4th season with Golden Goals and they first started way back in our 2003/04 Season where they finished on their highest score to date with 84 goals. Last season they finished on a grand total of 43 goals.  Over the four seasons they are now averaging a score of 53 goals per season. 

SHEFFIELD UNITED had to have a replay against Crewe as they drew 0-0 in the first game. This time round they made sure of a place into the next round by winning 2-0 at home. United are now on 31 goals.
Sheffield United are in their 15th season and they first started with us back in our 1990/91 season, but we had to wait till the 2011/12 before they finished on their highest score of 104 goals. Last season they finished on a total of 66 goals. Over the fifteen seasons they are averaging a score of 68 goals per season.

Week Fifteen

Because of the European Championship Quailifying games, only half of us picked up some goals at the weekend. We had just fifteen of our teams in action over the weekend and out of them, seven failed to score any goals.
The highest score that we had was five goals and they came from STEVENAGE in League Two. They won 5-1 at home against Cheltenham which is their highest score to date for this season. Stevenage are now on a total of 26 goals and they have just one vote.
This is there second season with Golden Goals and in their very first back in our 2012/13 season they netted a total of 53 goals. So they are already halfway to their highest score to date. With a grand total of 79 goals, they have now scored an average of 39 goals per season.
 
LEAGUE ONE
BRISTOL CITY are top in this league but they lost 1-0 away to the team right behind them Swindon. City picked up their second blank of the season after a goal run of fourteen games. PRESTON are third but also lost 2-1 to Bradford at home. That was Preston’s 35th goal. SHEFFIELD UNITED won 1-0 away to DONCASTER to pick up goal number 29 while Doncaster picked up blank number seven and they have now scored just two goals in their last four games. LEYTON ORIENT are on 23 goals as they lost 3-2 away to Gillingham. COVENTRY picked up their 4th blank of  the season as they lost 1-0 at home to Notts Co. PETERBOROUGH drew 0-0 away to Walsall to get their 5th blank score sheet of the season.
 
LEAGUE TWO
LUTON are top here this weekend as they win 1-0 at home to Tranmere. Luton take their goals tally to 25 goals. They have scored in all of their last ten games. BURY are now down to fifth place as they lost 1-0 away to Morecombe. That was their 4th blank of the season. PORTSMOUTH lost 3-0 away to Plymouth and have now had a total of eight blank score sheets to date.
 
SCOTTISH LEAGUES
                                                                                                                     
In Scotland just four of our teams managed to play here. RANGERS drew 1-1 at home to Alloa to pick up their 43rd goal of the season and after a goal run of eighteen games, they still have a 100% scoring record. HEARTS won 2-1 away to Falkirk and are now on 37 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR beat DUNFERMLINE 1-0 at home to pick up goal number 21 while Dunfermline picked up their 4th blank of the season.

Week Fourteen and the FA Cup 1st Round

We had a very important weekend this weekend with the first round of the FA CUP.
So this is where one of the highest scores came from as we had two teams that picked up five goals each. BARNSLEY won 5-0 against Burton in the first round of the cup and this is their highest score of the season which took their goals total to 28. DERBY was the other  team and they won 5-0 at home to WOLVES in a league game. Derby are now on 43 goals and are our best team this weekend. Wolves picked up their 4th blank score sheet of  the season.
 
FA CUP First Round
We had a total of 12 of our teams in the first round and seven have made it through to the second round so far. We already know about Barnsley but BURY are also through as they win 3-1 at home against non-league Hemel Hampstead. Bury are now on 31 goals. BRISTOL CITY won 2-1 away to Gillingham and are now on 36 goals while LUTON won 4-2 against Newport Co at home, which is their highest score to date. Luton are on 24 goals. PETERBOROUGH are on 27 goals as they win 2-1 at home to Carlisle. MK DONS won 4-3 away to Port Vale and are on 43 goals. SCUNTHORPE won 2-0 away to non-league Forest Green and that takes them up to a total of  22 goals.
With replays, SHEFFIELD UNITED drew 0-0 away to Crewe to pick up blank number three and now two games in a row. PORTSMOUTH drew 2-2 at home to Aldershot and they are on 21 goals. STEVENAGE picked up their 5th blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 at home to non-league Maidstone.
We had two teams that are already out of the FA Cup and they are LEYTON ORIENT as they lost 1-0 away to Oldham to get their 8th blank of the season and now they have scored just two goals in their last four games. COVENTRY are the other team to go as they lost 2-1 at home to non-league Worcester. Coventry are on 22 goals.
 
PREMIERSHIP
CHELSEA keep pole position and still four points clear of Southampton as they win 2-1 away to LIVERPOOL after going a goal down. Chelsea are on 32 goals and keep that 100%  goal run after thirteen games. Liverpool picked up goal number 18. MANCHESTER CITY are once again in third place as they drew 2-2 away to  QPR. City are now on 29 goals while Rangers are now on 11 goals but they are still our worst team. Down to sixth place is ARSENAL as they lost 2-1 away to Swansea after going a goal up. Arsenal are now on 20 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED could only beat CRYSTAL PALACE 1-0 at home but that gives them a total of  just 17 goals but they are now our third worst team to date. Palace picked up blank number  three. EVERTON drew 1-1 away to Sunderland and picked up goal number 20 while TOTTENHAM are on 19 as they lost 2-1 at home to Stoke.
 
CHAMPIONSHIP

Watford picked up blank number three. FULHAM are on 32 goals as they win 3-1 at home to Huddersfield while LEEDS won 3-1 at home to Blackpool and that now gives them a total of 23 goals. It’s 30 goals for NOTTINGHAM FOREST as they win 2-1 at home to NORWICH. Norwich are on 28 goals this weekend. READING picked up blank number seven as they lost 1-0 at home to CHARLTON who picked up their 24th goal of the season. It’s all going wrong for ROTHERHAM as they drew 0-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday to pick up their 8th blank and now three in a row.

RANGERS won 4-0 at home to Falkirk and are now on 42 goals while HEARTS are on 35 as they win 1-0 at home against Raith. STENHOUSEMUIR lost 2-0 away to Airdrie to pick up their 5th blank of the season while DUNFERMLINE drew 1-1 away to Peterhead and are now on 26 goals.

More Midweek Results

We had another two of our Golden Goals teams in action and they both picked up some goals. FULHAM drew 2-2 at home against Blackpool to take their goals tally to 29 while NOTTINGHAM FOREST lost 3-1 at home to Brentford and picked up goal number 28.

Not a Great Night for our Teams

We did not have a very good night for goals last night from our teams, with most of them coming from the English Championship.
But first we had one game from Monday night from the Premiership where CRYSTAL PALACE took on Sunderland and lost 3-1 at home. Palace are now on a total of 19 goals.
So with the Championship, WATFORD picked up their 32nd goal as they lost 2-1 away to Birmingham. CARDIFF picked up their 6th blank of the season as they lost 3-0 away to Bolton. WIGAN picked up their 7th blank as they lost 1-0 away to Brighton. DERBY won 3-2 at home to Huddersfield and are now on 38 goals. WOLVES lost 2-1 away to Ipswich and picked up goal number 24 while LEEDS drew 2-2 at home to CHARLTON. Leeds are now on 20 goals while Charlton have a goals tally of 23. NORWICH lost 4-0 away to Middlesbrough and so they picked up blank number six for them. READING are on 26 goals as they win 3-0 at home to ROTHERHAM. Rotherham have now had a total of seven blank score sheets and now two in a row.
In League One PRESTON lost 1-0 away to Swindon and they have now had a total of two blank score sheets which means they have failed to score in their last two league games.
In Scotland RANGERS won 3-0 away to Cowdenbeath to give them a total of 38 goals.

Week Thirteen

Not a brilliant weekend for our top teams but all goals count. Although we  had eight of our teams that failed to score we had three teams that did not play.
The highest score that we had came from the Scottish WILLIAMS HILL third round cup game as DUNFERMLINE win 4-1 away to East Stirling. They are just one of our three teams in Cup action this weekend that have made it through to the next round.
Dunfermline are now in their sixth season with Golden Goals and they started way back in our 1994/95 Season finishing on a total of  83 goals which is their highest score to date. They were last seen here in our 2007/08 Season and finished on their lowest score of  just 38 goals. This season they have secored a total of 25 goals after a total of fourteen games played and out of them, they have picked up three blank score sheets. They have three votes this season and their average score over the six season’s is 60 goals.

Tottenham are now on 18 goals. EVERTON drew 0-0 at home to Swansea to pick up their 2nd blank of the season.

BARNSLEY won 1-0 away to SHEFFIELD UNITED and picked up goal number 23 while United picked up their 2nd blank of the season.

LUTON have dropped to second place as they drew 1-1 away to Exeter. Luton are on 20 goals. BURY are fourth as they win 2-0 at home to Cambridge Utd. Bury are on a total of 28 goals. PORTSMOUTH are slowly getting into this season as they win 3-0 at home to Carlisle and are now on 19 goals. STEVENAGE are on 21 goals as they drew 2-2 away to Tranmere.
