Week Fourteen

RICHARD WILLIAMS becomes our 7th player to get to the top this weekend. Richard’s combination of  teams picked him up a grand total of eleven goals for the week with eight of them coming from the weekend. They came from Hibernian and Rangers with four goals each. His third team is Manchester City. He is three goals clear of  DANIEL GOODSON who after a stay of six weeks at number one, he moves back into second place after his teams picked him up a total of five goals this week. Daniel’s teams are Manchester City, Middlesbrough and Rangers.

At the other end, it’s still JOHN NICHOLLS now in his thirteenth weekend at number 119 as his combination picked him up just two goals all coming from the weekend. His teams are Arsenal, Bolton and  Newcastle.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 
Just under half of us managed to pick up some more midweek goals this week with STUART KEMP picking up the highest score with seven goals. They came from his combination of Hibernian three, Preston one and Tottenham three.
CRAIG EVANS is still in the lead again this week with his teams of  Hearts, Manchester City and Middlesbrough. Craig has a new total of 41 goals. Still in second place we have DANIEL GOODSON with 37 goals.  In third place up from four is TONY KING now on 35 goals, while in fourth place we have BARBARA BARNES (2) and MARK HOWARD both moving down from third place with NATHAN TREADWELL is still here in fourth place plus, RICHARD WILLIAMS comes straight in, all are on a total of 34 goals. In Fifth place all on 33 goals we have still have ADRIAN BEW with JAMES HUNTER and TOM MACDONALD both down from four last week and straight in we have DAVE WESTON.

This weekend we had our third Rollover of the season with a jackpot of £10 and it was won on a score of 11 goals. The person to pick the cash up was STEVEN CADWELL who now becomes our 16th winner of the season.
Steve is in his second season with Golden Goals and this is his highest weekend score to date. Last season, Steve finished in 50th place with a total of 258 goals. This season, Steve has been in the top spot for three weekends on a trot from week four. He has not had any blank score sheets at the weekend and last week we saw him at his lowest position of 37.
His best team is Rangers who have nearly scored half of his total of 102 goals with 49. His teams are

WEEKEND RESULTS                                
For three weekends running we had the average score of six goals but this weekend we slipped down to an average score of 5 goals. We did not have a great weekend for goals as we had three teams that had no game and we had thirteen teams that failed to score any goals of which some were our biggest voters.
Our highest score came from the 1st Round of the FA CUP where LEYTON ORIENT picked up their highest score of the season with six goals. They beat non-league team Staines Town 6-1 at home. Orient have three votes this season and the six goals now gives them a total of 33.
Orient is our 37th voted English team with Golden Goals and they started in our second season of 1984/85 where they finished on a score of 60 goals. In the following season and in our 2013/14 Season they have twice finished on their highest score of 99 goals. This is their 21st Season with us and over the seasons they have netted a total of 1,458 goals. This gives them an average score of 69 goals per season to date.

As always we will start with the First Round of the FA Cup

FA CUP First Round
We had a total of seventeen of our teams in cup action over the weekend but only ten have made it through to the second round. We already know about one of them, Leyton Orient with that big score but EXETER are also through as they win 3-0 away to non-league team. Exeter are now on 29 goals. WYCOMBE picked up their highest score as they won 4-0 away to non-league FC Halifax. Wycombe are now on 24 goals. PETERBOROUGH are also through as they win 
3-0 away to BURTON ALBION. Borough are now on a total of 38 goals and remain our third best team this weekend. They have now extended their goals run to eighteen games. Burton picked up their 6th blank and they have now scored just three goals in their last six games. LUTON won 2-1 away to Crawley and are now on 33 goals while MILLWALL are also through as they win 3-1 at home to non-league team AFC Fylbe. Millwall are now on 28 goals. PORTSMOUTH are on 28 goals as they beat non-league Macclesfield 2-1 at home. SCUNTHORPE beat SOUTHEND 2-1 at home to give them a total of 24 goals while Southend hit goal number 18. SHEFFIELD UNITED are through as they win 3-0 at home to non-league team Worchester. United are now on 33 goals. STEVENAGE picked up another three goals as they win 3-0 at home to Gillingham. Stevenage are now on 23 goals.
Teams that go out are BLACKPOOL as they lost 2-0 away to Barnet to pick up their 8th blank of the season and the second one of the week. WIGAN lost 4-0 away to Bury and that was their 5th blank of the season. PLYMOUTH are out as they go down 2-0 at home to Carlisle to pick up their 3rd blank of the season. Although SWINDON picked up their 22nd goal of the season, they lost 3-1 away to Rochdale.
The only team in a replay are PORT VALE as they drew 1-1 at home against non-league Maidstone UTD. Port Vale are now on 20 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP
We still have the top five teams here this weekend with HULL now in top place as they win 3-0 at home to MIDDLESBROUGH. Hull are now on a total of 31 goals and they have scored in all of their last twelve games. Middlesbrough picked up their 7th blank of the season but they are still in fourth place in the league. BRIGHTON are now down to second place as they win 2-1 at home to MK DONS. Brighton take their goals tally to 23 while the Dons are now on 18.  BURNLEY are still in third place as they drew 0-0 away to WOLVES to pick up their 4th blank of the season to Wolves 6th and now two games in a row. After a a five game dry spell for goals, CHARLTON picked up three goals as they win 3-1 at home to Sheffield Wednesday. Charlton are now on a tally of 23 goals. DERBY are in fifth place. BRENTFORD are on 21 goals as they drew 1-1 away to Blackburn while BRISTOL CITY drew 0-0 away to BOLTON. City picked up their 4th blank of the season while Bolton picked up their 11th and they have now not scored any goals in their last three games and only one goal in their last six.  CARDIFF won 2-0 at home to Reading and that now gives them a total of 19 goals after they failed to score in their last three games. LEEDS picked up their highest score of the season as they win 3-0 away to Huddersfield. Leeds have picked up four goals this week and they are now on 17 goals. QPR drew 0-0 at home to PRESTON which gave them their 6th blank and now no goals in their last three games while Preston picked up their 7th scoring just one goal in their last four games. IPSWICH have had a good week collecting seven goals. They won 5-2 away to Rotherham which is their biggest score of the season. Ipswich are now on 29 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Scottish Premiership, CELTIC are still top as they win 4-1 away to Ross County. Celtic are now on 42 goals. HEARTS are in second place as they win 2-0 at home to Hamilton. Hearts are now on 36 goals. ABERDEEN are third as they win 2-0 at home to Dundee UTD and that gives them a total of 21 goals.
In the Championship, RANGERS extend their 100% goal scoring record to sixteen games as they win 4-0 at home to Alloa. Rangers who are still top in this league, are now on 49 goals. HIBERNIAN won 4-1 away to St Mirren and with seven goals scored this week, they are now on a total of 34 goals. QUEEN OF THE SOUTH. won 1-0 at home to Dumbarton and are now on 19 goals. FALKIRK are on 28 as they win 2-1 away to Raith.
 In the lower Leagues STENHOUSEMUIR are now on a total of 22 goals as they win 2-1 away to Stranraer. BERWICK lost 2-1 at home to Stirling but it is their 20th goal of the season. CLYDE won 3-1 at home to Montrose to take their total to 15 while QUEENS PARK lost 2-1 away to East Stirling but that was their 19th goal of the season.

Our worst team this week is still BOLTON as they picked up another two blanks this week. They have now had a total of eleven blank score sheets out of seventeen games played. They have scored just one goal in their last six games.

Our Best team this weekend is still RANGERS after scoring in all of their sixteen League/Cup games played, they are on a total of 49 goals which still gives them an average of three goals per game.

We have had five high scoring teams in our 33rd Season. From the Scottish Premiership CELTIC won 6-0 at home to Dundee in a league game in week seven while MANCHESTER CITY won 6-1 at home to Newcastle in the League in week nine. NEWCASTLE’S won 6-2 at home against Norwich in the League from week eleven. EVERTON won 6-2 at home in a league game against Sunderland. LEYTON ORIENT winning 6-1 at home to non-league team Stains Town in the first round of the FA Cup in week fourteen.
