Week Thirty-One

RICHARD WILLIAMS has remained top again this weekend and this is his tenth weekend at the top.  Richard’s combination picked him up a total of eleven goals over the week. Nine of them came from the weekend from Hibernian one, Manchester City and Rangers picking up four goals each. JOHN DAVIES finds himself in second place this weekend but he is just two goals behind Richard. John’s teams also picked him up a total of fifteen goals for the week from Liverpool, Manchester City and Rangers.

At the other end, it’s still STEPTOE & SON at number 119 for his seventh weekend as his combination picked  him up just one goal for the week. His teams are Queens Park, Queens Park Ranger's and Queen of the South. 

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Only seventeen of you failed to pick up some more midweek goals this week but we had another six players to reach that magic score 50 or more goals bringing the total up to 76 this week.
The highest score this week went to DOUG MORBEY with a total of seven goals. Doug picked up his goals from Liverpool three and two each from Chelsea and Rangers. Doug now has a total of 60 midweek goals.
The race to the £40 Midweek Jackpot is looking like this. DANIEL GOODSON is still three goals in front this week as he picks up three goals from Middlesbrough once again this weekend two from Rangers. He is now on a total of 75 goals. Daniel’s other team is Manchester city who failed to score at Liverpool. In joint second place this week we still have JOHN DAVIES, and CRAIG EVANS both on 72 goals. ADRIAN BEW and JAMES HUNTER fall down from second place to three with a total of 70 goals each. In fourth place on 68 goals we have MICK LIDDLE and in Fifth place both on 66 goals we have JAMES WISE down from four and back in DAVID STAINS. 

We have now had a total of 44 winners this season as this weekend as we had a total of four winners and one of them becomes our fourth lady to do so. Our winners are  BARBARA BARNES (2), JOHN DAVIES, JAMES WISE and for his second win of the season BOB SOPER. All four won on a score of 10 goals and £1.25 pence each in winnings.
Barbara had been with Golden Goals for a long while now starting in our 2000/01 Season. Then Barbara finished in 49th place on 277 goals. Last season she finished in the winning frame in 14th place on 280 goals. With three weekend wins, Barbara finally took away over £17 in cash. This season she has been as high as third place in week nine and ten. She has picked up just two blank score sheets to date.
John is in his very first season with us and we would like to welcome him to the competition. John has picked up three blank score sheets and we see him at his highest. 
Jame’s is in his third season with us as he started back in our 2013/14  Season. James then finished in the winning frame in 25th place on 299 goals. With two weekend wins to his name, James took home £14 in cash. Last season James finished in 39th place on 265 goals. This season he has picked up four blank score sheets with fifth place being his best from week twenty-two to twenty-four.
Bob picked up his first win of the season in week twenty-three. Three is still his best position this season. All of our four winners have Rangers as their best team and here are their combinations.

WEEKEND RESULTS                             
We had a very good weekend for goals with the average score jumping up from four of last weekend to 6 goals this weekend. Even though we had a total of six teams that had no game and another seventeen that failed to score any goals it was our top voted teams for this season that made the difference this weekend to our scores.
We had two teams that picked up the highest score of four goals each. They were MANCHESTER CITY from the English Premiership and RANGERS from the Scottish Championship won in the cup round.
After a blank score sheet in midweek, Manchester City picked up another four goals against Aston Villa at home after they won 4-0. City are now on a total of 78 goals but they are now in fourth place in the table. Rangers won 4-0 at home to Dundee in the WILLIAM HILL CUP sixth round match and the goals see’s them through to the Semi-Finals and a total of 91 goals.

PREMIERSHIP
Leicester City are now five points clear of TOTTENHAM in second place after they drew 2-2 at home to ARSENAL. Tottenham are now on 60 goals while rivals Arsenal are on 53 and in third place. WEST HAM move into fifth place as they win 3-2 away to EVERTON after going 2-0 down. West ham are on 54 goals while Everton are on 71. MANCHESTER UNITED fall down to sixth place as they lost 1-0 away to West Brom. That was their 10th blank of the season. LIVERPOOL follow as they win 2-1 away to Crystal Place. Liverpool are on a total of 59 goals. CHELSEA are on 60 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to Stoke while NEWCASTLE lost 3-1 at home to Bournemouth. Newcastle are on 32 goals now. NORWICH picked up their 11th blank of the season after they lost 1-0 away to Swansea. WATFORD lost 1-0 at home to Leicester City to pick up their 13th blank and now three games in a row.

CHAMPIONSHIP
BURNLEY are still top here this weekend as they win again 1-0 at home to Blackburn. Burnley are now on 57 goals. Middlesbrough are in second place after their win on Friday against Wolves. In the play-off zone we have three of the four teams. Hull are in third place while BRIGHTON are fourth after they drew 0-0 away to PRESTON. Both teams picked up their 11th blank score sheet. DERBY are also there as they win 2-0 at home to Huddersfield. Derby are now on 51 goals. Meanwhile CHARLTON are now on 42 goals as they win 2-1 away to BRENTFORD who are now on a total of 48 goals. It’s 49 goals for CARDIFF as they win 2-0 away to BRISTOL CITY. City picked up their 14th blank of the season. IPSWICH beat NOTTINGHAM FOREST 1-0 at home to take their goals tally to 51 while Forest picked up their 12th blank of the season. LEEDS are on 37 goals as they beat BOLTON 2-1 at home. Bolton are on 38. MK DONS are on 40 goals as they win 2-0 at home to QPR. Rangers picked up their 11th blank of the season.

LEAGUE ONE
BURTON ALBION are still on top this weekend even though they drew 1-1 away to Crewe. Albion are now on 46 goals. In Second place is WIGAN they drew 1-1 at home to PETERBOROUGH. Wigan are no won 57 goals while Borough hit goal number 71. We once again still have just one of our teams in the play-off zone this weekend and they are MILLWALL still in fifth place. They won 3-0 at home to BLACKPOOL. Millwall are on 60 goals while Blackpool picked up their 17th blank of the season. For the rest of the teams, SHEFFIELD UNITED drew 2-2 away to Fleetwood and they are now on 54 goals after a two game dry spell for goals. PORT VALE beat Colchester 2-0 at home to give them a new total of 46 goals. It’s now twelve blanks for SCUNTHORPE as they drew 0-0 at home to Gillingham. CHESTERFIELD won 1-0 away to SOUTHEND to get goal number 52. Southend have now had a total of fourteen blank score sheets.

LEAGUE TWO
PLYMOUTH are down to third place here as they drew 2-2 at home to Oxford. Plymouth are now on 51 goals. We have just one team in the play-off zone here and they are PORTSMOUTH still in fifth place. They won 2-0 away to STEVENAGE to give them a total of 65 while Stevenage have now had twelve blank score sheets and now no goals in their last three games. EXETER are on 57 goals this week as they win 1-0 away to Cambridge while LUTON are on 56 as they win 1-0 away to LEYTON ORIENT. WYCOMBE have picked up their 12th blank score sheet after they lost 1-0 away to Newport. Wycombe have now scored just one goal in their last four games. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the WILLIAM HILL CUP Sixth round we had three of our teams still in this competition. We already know about Rangers but CELTIC are through after they won 3-0 at home to Morton. Celtic are now on 83 goals. HIBERNIAN was our third team but they drew 1-1 at home to Inverness but it was goal number 60 for them and another chance with a replay.
In the Scottish Premiership, HEARTS are still in third place as they win 1-0 at home to Partick. That was their 63rd goal of the season. In the Championship FALKIRK are now second as they win 2-0 at home to Alloa. Falkirk are now on 57 goals. In the lower leagues, STENHOUSEMUIR lost 5-0 away to Dunfermline to pick up their 9th blank of the season. CLYDE are on 35 goals as they drew 3-3 away to Anna while BERWICK drew 0-0 away to QUEENS PARK. Berwick picked up their 7th blank while Queens picked up their 11th.

BLACKPOOL have picked up the most number of blank score sheets this season with a total of seventeen out of thirty-seven games played.

The highest scoring team in our 33rd Season is now CELTIC from the Scottish Premiership, when they beat Hamilton 8-1 at home in a midweek league game in week twenty-five.

As you can see in the table below that three of this weeks winners came from the top ten while the fourth winner was still in the winning top 30.
