Week Seven

It’s Week Seven and we had our first Double Rollover this weekend worth a fantastic sum of £18 and we did have a winner. Our sixth winner of the season won on a score of 10 goals and the cash went to MIKE ADKINS.
Mike has been with the competition for six seasons now and in his first season he finished in 90th place on 234 goals. His best was in our 2013/14 Season where he finished in third place on 342 goals and collected £40 in cash. Last season he finished in seventh place on a total of 282 goals and picked up £26 in cash. This season he has had just one blank score sheet and his best team is Celtic netting him 22 of his total of 49 goals. This is the highest that he has been so far to date. Congratulations to Mike and his teams are

ARSENAL 4, CELTIC 2, MANCHESTER CITY 4

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
The highest number of goals to be picked up over midweek was 8 goals and we had a total of four players to do so. They were BOB BURGIN (Stalky (2), JOHN DAVIES, DANIEL GOODSON and GRANT PHILLIPS.
So at last some action in the race for the cash in midweek. JOHN FILTNESS remains in the lead with CHRIS SETFORD up from fourth place and DAVID SMITHERS from last weeks fifth palce. All three are now on a total of 34 goals. In second place is DARYL NICHOLLS on 32 goals. We have three players in third place and they are JAMIE WOOD down from two and TONY KING who has remained there with STEPTOE & SON moving straight in. All three are on 31 goals. In fourth place on 30 goals we have PETER GASPARELLI and MANGO.
In joint fifth place all on 29 goals we have still have KEITH THOMSON but he is now joined with DOUG MORBEY and LUCIFER.

WEEKEND RESULTS
The average score for this weekend fell down to just 4 goals.  The reason for this drop is that we had two teams with out a game and another twelve teams that failed to score any goals and some of them were our top teams.
The highest score over the weekend was five goals once again and they came from the the English Championship where BRENTFORD won 5-0 at home to PRESTON to pick up their highest result for this season. Brentford have a total of five votes this season and they are now on a total of 13 goals. Preston picked up their fourth blank of the season.
Brentford are now in their 15th Season with Golden Goals and they are just one of our original starters in our first season. In 1983.84 Season they finished on a score of 84 goals but we had to wait till 1989/99 for them to pick up their highest end of season score with 95 goals. Last season they picked up 72 goals. Over the years they have now scored a total of 991 goals which gives them an average score of 66 goals per season. So far this season they have picked up just two blank score sheets in nine games.
