Week Seven

In Week Seven of the competition we have now had a total of fourteen winners this season as we have another three winners to add to our list. Our winners won on our highest score of the season with 14 goals each.
They are CHRIS BOOM, BARRY BURROUGHS and CHRIS DICKER who have a share of the £6 cash jackpot this weekend. Our three winners were all with us last season. Chris B finished in the winning frame last season in 90th place on a total of 270 goals. This season he has picked up just one blank score sheet and the highest that he has been to date is second place in week two. Barry finished in 92nd place last season on 270 goals. This season he has also had just one blank score sheet and his highest position to date is 19th in week one. Chris D finished in the winning frame in 28th place last season with a total of 310 goals and taking home just under £7 in cash. This season Chris has also had just one blank score sheet and this is his highest position to date. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 
Seventy-three of you picked up some more midweek goals and there was three of us that picked up the highest number of goals with five each. They are STEVE AYRES, BEN PAYNE and me, STEVE REEVE. So once again there was a change in the race for the cash.
Leading the pack we still have  JULIE SOMERVILLE who has Aston Villa, Celtic and Reading and still with a total of 25 goals.  In Second place we have DAVE WOOD and up from four PHIL FRANCKSEN both on 24 goals. In joint third place all on 23 goals we have  JAMES BLYTH, SIMON DICKINSON, TONY GUY (2) and RICKY WOOD. Moving down from third place to four we have MATT DORAN, GRAHAM PHILLIPS and JAMES PLATT. They are now joined with ALEX  DAVEY and CHRIS SETFORD  all on  22 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS 
This weekend our average weekend score shot up from four goals to six and I was surprised that it was not even higher. we had just two of our teams with out a game and another sixteen teams that failed to score any goals.
The highest score that we had over the weekend came from the English Premiership and once again it was MANCHESTER CITY that picked up the highest score for us and for them as they win 6-0 away to Watford. City are now on a scored in all of their five league games and they have a total of 16 goals.
Manchester City are our 15th English team to be voted in our first season where they ended with a total of 73 goals. This is their twenty-fourth season with Golden Goals and they are a team that has made great progress over the years. City have netted 100 or more goals in three of twenty-four seasons and their highest and ours is 137 goals from the 2013/14 Season. Over the seasons they have netted a total of 1846 goals which gives them an average score of 76 goals per season to date.

PREMIERSHIP
So Manchester City have moved into the top spot after their big win and in alphabetical order with their rivals MANCHESTER UNITED who won 4-0 at home to EVERTON. United have now scored in all of their five games played and they have a total of 16 goals. Everton picked up their third blank and now three games in a row. In third place is still CHELSEA as they drew 0-0 at home to rivals ARSENAL. As Chelsea pick up their first blank of the season, Arsenal have picked up their third. NEWCASTLE have moved up to fourth place as they win 2-1 at home to Stoke. Newcastle are now on 8 goals. In fifth place is still TOTTENHAM they drew 0-0 at home to Swansea to pick up their first blank score sheet. LIVERPOOL drew 1-1 at home to Burnley and that was their 9th goal of the season. WEST BROM also picked up their first blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 at home to WEST HAM. West Ham picked up their third.  LEICESTER CITY are now on a total of 11 goals as they drew 1-1 away to Huddersfield. CRYSTAL PALACE have still to win a game as they lost 1-0 at home to Southampton and that was their fifth blank and now three games in a row.

CHAMPIONSHIP
LEEDS UNITED have moved up to top spot here on goal difference after they lost 1-0 away to Millwall. Leeds have now had three blank score sheets. WOLVES have moved up to second place after they won 2-1 away to Nottingham Forest. Wolves have taken their goals tally to 16 goals. CARDIFF have moved down to third place after they drew 1-1 at home to Sheffield Wednesday. Cardiff picked up goal number 15. After a tow game dry spell for goals, ASTON VILLA are now on a total of 16 goals as they win 3-0 away to Barnsley. BRENTFORD drew 1-1 at home against READING. As Brentford take their goals total to 14, Reading hit goal number 11. BURTON ALBION after a two game dry spell for goals, won 2-1 at home to FULHAM. Burton are now on 11 goals while Fulham are on 10. HULL drew 1-1 at home to SUNDERLAND and they are now on 14 goals to Sunderlands total of 10. It’s 15 goals for IPSWICH as they win 2-0 at home to BOLTON. Bolton have now had four blank score sheets and now three in a row. MIDDLESBROUGH picked up another three goals in their 3-2 home win against QUEENS PARK RANGERS. Brough are now on 13 goals while Rangers are on 14. NORWICH won 1-0 away to SHEFFIELD UNITED and that is their 15th goal of the season while United picked up their third blank score sheet.

LEAGUE ONE
PETERBOROUGH have moved back up to second place after they drew 1-1 away to Walsall. Boroughs single goal takes them up to a total of 17 goals. BRADFORD who are now in third place as they win 1-0 at home to Rotherham. Bradford  are now on a total of 17 goals. It’s two blanks now for BLACKBURN as they lost 1-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon.PLYMOUTH drew 0-0 away to Bury to pick up their fourth blank score sheet. CHARLTON picked up their third and now two in a row as they lost 1-0 away to Gillingham. MK DONS have scored their highest result of the season as they win 3-2 at home to Rochdale. The Dons are now on 9 goals. PORTSMOUTH picked up their highest score to date as they win 4-1 at home to FLEETWOOD. Portsmouth are now on a total of 12 goals while Fleetwood are on 13. It’s 9 goals for SOUTHEND as they drew 2-2 at home to Northampton. It’s six goals in a week for WIGAN as they win 3-0 at home to Bristol Rovers. Wigan are now on 17 goals.  After a two game dry spell for goals, SCUNTHORPE are now on 12 goals as they win 1-0 away to DONCASTER who picked up their fifth blank of the season and now just one goal in their last five games.

LEAGUE TWO
EXETER have remained in top place here once again this weekend as they win 3-0 at home to Crewe. Exeter after nine games are now on a total of 17 goals. LUTON are in fourth place as they win 2-1 away to Wycombe and that gives them a total of 17 goals. COVENTRY lost 2-1 away to Cambridge and they are now on 10 goals while COLCHESTER lost 3-1 away to Cheltenham and that is their 13th goal of the season. MANSFIELD won 1-0 away to LINCOLN CITY and they are now on 13 goals while Lincoln picked up their third blank of the season. PORT VALE drew 1-1 at home to FOREST GREEN. After a run of five games with out a goal, Port Vale are now on 7 goals while Green are on 10.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Premiership Celtic are back on top after they won 4-0 at home to Ross County. Celtic have now scored in all of their seven games played and they have a total of 21 goals. ABERDEEN in second place drew their game 1-1 at home to Kilmarnock and they are now on 12 goals. Rangers are now in third place.
In the Championship, FALKIRK’S goal run of ten games has come to the end as they drew 0-0 at home to Dundee Utd. In league One RAITH ROVERS are still top after they win 5-0 away to Queens Park. Rovers are on 28 goals and still our best team. They have scored in all of their last nine games. In League Two PETERHEAD are back in to third place as they win 4-0 away to Cowdenbeath. With their biggest win of the season they are now on 20 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR are right behind them as they drew 1-1 away to Anna. Stenhousemuir are now on a total of 12 goals. ELGIN CITY lost 3-2 away to Berwick but the goals now gives them a total of 11.

Our Best team is RAITH ROVERS who have scored in all of their last nine League and Cup games with 28 goals.

We have had a few teams that have picked up five blank score sheets already this season but CRYSTAL PALACE have now picked up five blank score sheets after six games played to date.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 35th Season is LUTON from League Two. They picked up our highest score in week one as they win 8-2 at home to Yeovil in their first league game of the season.
