Week Ten

We are half way through the first half of the season in Week ten of the competition. We did not have many of our teams in action this week all due to the World Cup Qualifying Rounds. So we will have our second Rollover of our 35th Season worth £12 next weekend.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
As we did not have any midweek games at all this week, the race for the cash has remained the same as last weeks leaders.
In first place we have RICKY WOOD with 36 goals. In joint second place both on 35 goals we have PHIL FRANCKSEN and CHRIS SETFORD. In third place we have TONY GUY (2) and JULIE SOMERVILLE on 34 goals. With 33 goals in joint fourth place we have SIMON DICKINSON, MATT DORAN, GRAHAM PHILLIPS and DAVE WOOD.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend we only had seventeen of our teams in action and they came from Leagues one and two. The reason for that is that we had some more of the World Cup Qualifying Rounds this weekend. Out of the teams that did play only two failed to score any goals. The highest score that we had over the weekend came from the English League One where we had two teams that picked up four goals each. They were BRADFORD and DONCASTER.
Bradford won 4-1 away to MK DONS to score their biggest result of the season. Bradford with just one vote take their goals tally to 24. Bradford are in their eleventh season with Golden Goals and they started in our second season of 1984/85 where they were our 29th voted team in the competition. In that season they finished on a total of 90 goals. We did not have to wait long before they scored their highest score with 91 goals in the 1987/88 Season. Last season they finished on a total of 64 goals. Over the seasons they have scored a total of 718 goals which gives them an average score of 65 goals per season.
MK Dons have taken their goals tally to 14.
Doncaster also picked up their highest score of they season when they won 4-1 at home to SOUTHEND after going a goal down. Doncaster with three votes are on a total of 20 goals. They are in their sixth season with us and they became our 100th English team to be voted in but they did not start until the 2003/04 Season where they finished on a total of 84 goals. We then had to wait till last season when they scored their highest number of goals with 87. Over the seasons they have scored a total of 366 goals which gives them an average score of 61 goals per season. Southend picked up their 17th goal of the season.

LEAGUE ONE
WIGAN are still in second place after they won 2-1 away to SCUNTHORPE. Wigan have now scored in all of their last seven games and they are now on 25 goals. Scunthorpe picked up goal number fifteen after a two game dry spell for goals. Bradford are still in third place after their win with Peterborough going down to fifth place as they had no game this week.
FLEETWOOD won 2-1 away to PLYMOUTH to give them a total of 21 goals and they still have a 100% scoring run after twelve games played. Plymouth are now on 8 goals. PORTSMOUTH hit goal number seventeen after they won 1-0 away to Gillingham.

LEAGUE TWO
EXETER are now top as they win 1-0 away to Carlisle. Exeter are now on 22 goals. LUTON have moved up to third place as they win 2-0 away to Accrington. Luton take their goals total to 23. COVENTRY are still in fourth place as they drew 0-0 away to Barnet. That was their fourth blank of the season. COLCHESTER won 2-0 at home to MANSFIELD to give them a total of 19 goals while Mansfield picked up their fourth blank of the season. LINCOLN CITY are on a total of 16 goals as they win 2-1 at home to Chesterfield. FOREST GREEN drew 1-1 away to Notts County to pick up their 11th goal of the season after a run of three games with out a goal. PORT VALE lost 2-1 at home to Grimsby but they are now on 10 goals.

OUR BEST THREE TEAMS this week with Golden Goals are

RAITH ROVERS (31) CELTIC (29) LEEDS UTD (29) Total of 89 goals

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE

CRYSTAL PALACE (3) BOURNEMOUTH (7) EVERTON (7) Total of 17 goals

Our Best team is RAITH ROVERS who have scored in all of their last eleven League and Cup games with 31 goals.

BOLTON have now picked up eight blank score sheets after thirteen games played and they have failed to score in their last seven games.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 35th Season is LUTON from League Two. They picked up our highest score in week one as they win 8-2 at home to Yeovil in their first league game of the season.

GUY DOWSETT (2) remains on top even as his combination had a rest this week. He has now been top for four weeks with Celtic, Leeds Utd and Manchester Utd. Alex Davey is a goal behind Guy as his combination also had a rested week. Alex’s has the combination of Celtic, Leeds Utd and Manchester City.
At the other end at 149 we still have JOHN DOVE spending his fifth consecutive weekend there and this is now the longest spell that a player has been at the foot of the table this season. John has Arsenal, Everton and Liverpool.
