Two Wins in a Week - Fulham

In the Championship, FULHAM played their second game of the week. After beating Derby on Tuesday night, they have won again by beating Swansea 2-1 away. Fulham are in third place in the league and they are now on a total of 31 goals.

West Brom Retake Lead

In the Championship, WEST BROM have taken back the top spot from Leeds United as they win 4-1 at home against Bristol City. West Brom have taken their goals tally to 36 goals. BLACKBURN are now on 28 goals as they win 1-0 at home against BRENTFORD who picked up their eighth blank of the season. PRESTON picked up their fifth blank and now two in a row as they lost 4-0 away to Hull. MIDDLESBROUGH won 1-0 at home to BARNSLEY and that is their 18th goal of the season while Barnsley picked up their seventh blank of the season. NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 4-0 away to QUEENS PARK RANGERS. With their biggest score of the season, Forest are now on 28 goals. Rangers picked up their sixth blank of the season. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY drew 1-1 to home to BIRMINGHAM. Wednesday are now on a total of 24 goals while Birmingham are now on 18 goals.

Leeds Back on Top

In the Championship, LEEDS UNITED have moved back to the top as they win 1-0 away to Reading. Leeds have now scored total of 29 goals. FULHAM are now in third place as they win 3-0 at home against DERBY. Fulham are also on a total of 29 goals. Derby picked up their seventh blank of the season and now just one goal in their last three games. CARDIFF won 1-0 at home to STOKE and they are now on 26 goals while Stoke picked up blank number seven. It’s 20 for HUDDERSFIELD as they drew 1-1 at home to Swansea. LUTON are now on 31 goals as they win 2-1 at home against Charlton.

In League One, IPSWICH drew 0-0 at home against Wycombe and that is their fourth blank of the season and they have remained second in the table. PORTSMOUTH won 3-2 at home to ROTHERHAM. Portsmouth are now on 33 goals while Rotherham are on 37. SUNDERLAND lost 2-1 at home to Burton but they are now on a total of 33 goals.

In League Two FOREST GREEN ROVERS remain in second place after they drew 0-0 at home to Crewe to pick up their eighth blank score sheet of the season.

In the Scottish League One, RAITH ROVERS drew 0-0 at home to Forfar and that is their fourth blank of the season.

A Rare Win for Villa

In the Premier League ASTON VILLA won their fourth league game of the season as they win 2-0 at home to NEWCASTLE to take their goals tally up to 30, while Newcastle may-be our worst team, but they have now had a total of five blank score sheets to date. Both of Villa’s goals came in the first half.

Week Seventeen

In Week Seventeen of the competition and we had our third Rollover of the season and all of the £12 cash prize money went to BRUCE SELF who won on a score of 10 goals. Bruce has become our nineteenth winner of the season.
Bruce has been with us for a very long time now and I thank him for his support over the years. Last season he finished in 106th place with 258 goals. He also had one weekend win. This season Bruce has picked up a total of four blank score sheets and this is his biggest weekend score since Week Two, where he was at his highest position to date of 24th place. His best team is Celtic.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
We twenty-one of us who pick up some more goals this week and the race for the cash has changed slightly once again. It was STEVE MEDHURST that picked up the most number of goals with six as he had all of his combination playing. He has Doncaster, Fulham and Peterborough who all scored two goals each.
This week we have COLIN WEBB (2) who moves out in front with a total of 40 goals. In second place on 38 goals we have RICHARD WILLIAMS moving down from first place last week. In third place coming straight in we have STEVE MEDHURST with a total of 37 goals. In joint fourth place we still have ANDY EYLES but he is now joined with SCOTT THOMSON (2) and JACQUI WILLIAMS both moving down from second place all on a total of 36 goals. In fifth place on 35 goals we still have PATRICK O’DONAGHUE but he is now with TOBY BICKNELL and RYAN WILLIAMS both down from third place. In sixth place on 34 goals we still have PHIL REEVE but he is now with TONY GUY (4) moving down from fourth place. 

WEEKEND RESULTS
We had eight of our teams with out a game over the weekend and we had another nine teams that failed to score any goals. So the weekends average score shot up to a fantastic 7 goals. The reason for that is that we all picked up some weekend goals.
The highest score that we had came from League One where ACCRINGTON STANLEY picked up their highest result of the season by winning 7-1 at home to Bolton. With their fourth league win out of eighteen played, Accrington after failing to score in their last five games are now on a total of 25 goals.
Accrington Stanley became our 102nd voted English team to join Golden Goal when they first appeared in the 2006/07 Season. In that season they finished on a total of 71 goals which is their highest score to date. This is their fourth season with us and last season they finished on a total of 57 goals. So far this season they have picked up a total of seven blank score sheets and they have just the one vote. Over the season’s they have now scored a total of 220 goals which gives them an average score of 55 goals per season.

PREMIER LEAGUE
LIVERPOOL have remained top after they won 2-1 away to Crystal Palace. Liverpool have kept their 100% scoring record in tack as they chalk up fifteenth consecutive game. Liverpool are now on a total of 37 goals and eight points clear of LEICESTER CITY in second place. Leicester won 2-0 away to Brighton and they are now on a total of 39 goals and they have now scored in all of their last ten games. MANCHESTER CITY are in third place after they won 2-1 at home to CHELSEA. City have taken their goals total up to 43 goals while Chelsea in fourth place picked up goal number 36 and they have now scored in all of their last fourteen games. In fifth place are WOLVES after they won 2-1 away to Bournemouth to take their goals tally to 20 goals. They have also now scored in all of their last fourteen games. TOTTENHAM won 3-2 away to WEST HAM after going three goals up. Tottenham are now on 21 goals while West Ham are now on 18. ARSENAL drew 2-2 at home to Southampton and they are now on 28 goals while EVERTON lost 2-0 at home to Norwich and that is their fifth blank of the season. SHEFFIELD UNITED drew 3-3 at home to MANCHESTER UNITED. Sheffield are now on a total of 18 goals while Manchester are now on 22.

CHAMPIONSHIP
WEST BROM are back on top after they won 2-1 at home against SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. West Brom are now on 32 goals and have now scored in all of their last seven games. Wednesday picked up goal number 23. LEEDS UNITED are in second place after they won 2-1 away to LUTON. Leeds are now on 28 goals while Luton are now on 29. PRESTON are now in third place after they lost 1-0 away to DERBY. Preston picked up their fourth blank of the season while Derby picked up their 20th goal of the season. Fulham are still in fourth place after their win on Friday night with NOTTINGHAM FOREST in fifth place. They drew 0-0 away to Bristol City to pick up their third blank of the season. BLACKBURN won 3-2 at home to bottom of the table BARNSLEY to take them up to 27 goals while Barnslay are now on 18 goals and have now scored in all of their last nine games. BRENTFORD are now on 23 goals as they win 1-0 at home against Reading. CARDIFF drew 2-2 away to Charlton and they are now on a total of 25 goals. STOKE win their fourth league game as they beat Wigan 2-1 at home. Stoke are now on 23 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH drew 2-2 at home to Hull and they are now on 17 goals.

LEAGUE ONE
IPSWICH are now in second place as they drew 2-2 at home to BLACKPOOL. Ipswich are now on a total of 30 goals. Blackpool are now on 32 goals. PETERBOROUGH are now in third place as they win 1-0 at home to Burton. Borough are now on 43 goals. ROTHERHAM are now in fourth place after they won 3-2 away to MK DONS after they went two goals down in the first 15 minutes of play. Rotherham are now on 35 goals with ten goals in their last four games. The Dons after a two game dry spell are now on 21 goals. It’s 30 for PORTSMOUTH after they won 3-0 away to Rochdale. SOUTHEND picked up their eight blank after they lost 4-0 at home to Oxford Utd. Southend have now score just one goal in their last four games. SUNDERLAND drew 1-1 at home to Coventry and that was goal number 32 for them. DONCASTER lost 1-0 away to Wycombe and that is their fifth blank score sheet.

LEAGUE TWO
FOREST GREEN ROVERS are still in second place after they won 4-2 away to LEYTON ORIENT. Rovers are now on 28 goals while Orient are now on 27. OLDHAM won 1-0 away to Newport County and they are now on 23 goals. PLYMOUTH won 2-1 at home to BRADFORD and they are now on 32 goals while Bradford picked up goal number 26. SALFORD CITY picked up their sixth blank of the season after they drew 0-0 at home to Macclesfield. SCUNTHORPE won 2-1 at home to Port Vale and they are now on 26 goals. MANSFIELD lost 1-0 away to Swindon and that is their seventh blank score sheet and now two in a row.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the third round of the WILLIAM HILL CUP, we had Falkirk through to the next round And they will now be joined with RITH ROVERS who beat PETERHEAD 1-0 at home. Rovers now on a total of 33 goals while Peterhead are out with their eighth blank of the season and now two in a row. They have scored just four goals in their last six games.
In the Premiership, CELTIC are still top on goal difference as they win 4-0 at home to Livingston. Celtic are now over half way to the magic 100 goals with 52. RANGERS keep up the pressure as they win 3-1 away to Hamilton. Rangers are now on a total of 45 goals and a goal run of eleven games. HEARTS lost 3-0 away to Kilmarnock to pick up their seventh blank score sheet.

Our Best team is LIVERPOOL this week after they still have a 100% scoring record after fifteen games. They have a total of 37 goals which gives them an average score of 2.5 goals per game.

Our worst team is MK DONS again this weekend as they have picked up a total of eleven blank score sheets in twenty-two games played. The Dons have scored four goals in their last thirteen games. They have a total of 21 goals.

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season is LEICESTER CITY from Week Thirteen as the beat Southampton 9-0 away in the league.  

GUY DOWSETT has now stayed at the top for four weeks after he picked up just six goals at the weekend. Guy has now been at the top for a total of sixteen weeks over the season.  Guy has the combination of Celtic, Cove Rangers and Manchester City. But Guy’s lead has been reduced to just one goal in front of  Mike Liddle in second place. Mike picked up a total of nine goals this week with two of them coming from midweek. Mike’s combination is Celtic, Manchester City. and Peterborough.
At the other end at 123 we have The SAINT with their eleventh consecutive weekend there. The Saint picked up six goals all coming from the weekend.  They have Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.

William Hill Cup Third Round

We have the start of the WILLIAM HILL CUP Third Round in where we had just one of our Golden Goals teams to start off this round. They were FALKIRK and they are through to the next round after they won 4-1 away to non-league Linlithgow Rose. Falkirk are now on a total of 34 goals.

In the English Championship, FULHAM won 2-1 at home to London rivals QUEENS PARK RANGERS after they went a goal down.  Fulham have moved up to fourth place and they are now on a total of 26 goals while Rangers picked up goal number 30.

More FA Cup Replays


We had another two of our teams in the first round cup replays and they played against each other. They were IPSWICH TOWN who beat LINCOLN CITY 1-0 in the very last minute of added on time.  Ipswich have now taken their goals tally up to 28 while Lincoln picked up their seventh blank of the season and now two in a row. In fact Lincoln have now scored just two goals in their last seven games.

FA CUP First Round Replays

In the first batch of the FA CUP Replays, we had five of our teams in action. But it was a bit of a disaster here at Golden Goals as only two have made it through to the next round. They are DONCASTER who won 2-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon. Doncaster are now on a total of 27 goals. PETERBOROUGH will be joining them as they won 2-0 at home to Stevenage. Borough are now on 42 goals.
Teams that are out are BRADFORD CITY as they lost 1-0 at home to Shrewsbury. Bradford picked up their fourth blank of the season after a goal run of twelve games. New boys SALFORD CITY are out as they went down 4-1 away to Burton Albion. Salford are now on a total of 25 goals and they have now scored in all of their last six games. SUNDERLAND lost 1-0 away to Gillingham and that was their sixth blank score sheet of the season.

Week Sixteen

In Week sixteen of the competition we did not have any cash to win all due to the International games being played over the weekend. So next weekend we will have our third Rollover of the season worth a total of £12.
With only seven players picking up any goals this weekend, it was GUY DOWSETT  that picked up the most with just three goals. They came from Cover Rangers. His other teams are Celtic and Manchester City.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
We had just thirteen of us to pick up two goals this week and the race for the cash has changed slightly once more.
This week we have joint leaders both with a total of 38 goals we still have  COLIN WEBB (2) but he is now joined with RICHARD WILLIAMS moving up from second place. In joint second place we still have JACQUI WILLIAMS but she is now with SCOTT THOMSON (2) moving up from four, both on a total of 36 goals. In joint third place up we still have RYAN WILLIAMS with 35 goals but TOBY BICKNELL  moves up from fifth place to join him. In fourth place with 34 goals each we have ANDY EYLES and moving back in is TONY GUY (4). In fifth place all on 33 goals we still have SIMON DICKINSON, DANIEL HUGHES, PATRICK O’DONAGHUE, and ADAM SANSOM but coming back in this week we have JED WEARDEN. In sixth place both still on 32 goals we still have MIKE HARRINGTON and PHIL REEVE.

WEEKEND RESULTS
We had just fourteen of our teams in action over the weekend but seven of them failed to score any goals. So the weekends average score fell again from four goals of last weekend to a flat zero this weekend. The reason for that is that only seven players picked up some weekend goals. The highest score that we had came from the Scottish League Two were COVE RANGERS won 3-0 at home against Brechin City. Cove Rangers are now five points clear at the top and they are now on a total of 44 goals. They have scored ten goals in their last four games.

LEAGUE ONE
We had just five of our teams in action here. The highest score came from BLACKPOOL as they won 2-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon. The win moves them up to fifth place and a total of 30 goals. MK DONS lost 1-0 away to Bolton. And that is their eleventh blank of the season. LINCOLN CITY lost 1-0 away to Gillingham and that is their sixth blank score sheet and now just two goals in their last six games. ROTHERHAM won 1-0 at home to ACCRINGTON STANLEY and they are now on 32 goals while Accrington picked up their seventh blank of the season and now five in a row.

LEAGUE TWO
We did a bit better here with six of our teams in action. FOREST GREEN ROVERS have moved down to second place after they lost 1-0 at home to PLYMOUTH. It’s now 30 goals for Plymouth while Rovers picked up their seventh blank score sheet. SCUNTHORPE won 2-0 away to LEYTON ORIENT and they are now on a total of 24 goals. Orient have picked up their sixth blank score sheet and now two goals in their last five games.MANSFIELD picked up their sixth blank score sheet after a goals run of even games as they drew 0-0 away to Maccelsfield. SALFORD CITY lost 3-2 at home to Swindon and they are now on a total of 24 goals.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
With our Scottish teams only three of the eight teams that we have, had a game this weekend.
In League One, FALKIRK drew 1-1 away to Dumbarton and they are now on 30 goals. PETERHEAD drew 0-0 at home to Montrose and that is their seventh blank of the season.

FA CUP First Round

We had our last team to play in the FA Cup first round and they were PORTSMOUTH. They won 2-1 away to non-league Harrogate Town after going a goal down in the first seven minutes of play. All of the goals were scored with in the first 41 minutes of the first half. Portsmouth are now on a total of 27 goals and a place in round two.

Week Fifteen

In Week Fifteen of the competition we had our eighteenth winner of the season who won on a score of  9 goals. Our winner is JOHN FILTNESS and he collects the full £6 cash prize money this weekend.
John has been with Golden Goals for a total of eight seasons now. He first started playing in the 2012/13 Season on where he finished in 88th place out of 91 on a total of  206 goals. He picked up one weekend win. Last season John finished rock bottom with 188 goals. This season he has been as high as 67th place in Week One and has only been on the third page once. John has picked up just one blank score sheet to date and his best team is Rangers. Twenty-eight of us picked up a goal or two this week and the race for the cash has changed slightly once more. We had three players to pick up the most goals this week with six goals each. They are JAMES BLYTH, PETER JEFFREY and ANTHONY PIRES. All three had Portsmouth and West Brom as part of their combos.
So still in the lead with a total of 38 goals we have COLIN WEBB (2). In second place we still have JACQUI WILLIAMS but she is now with RICHARD WILLIAMS moving up from six, both on a total of 36 goals. In third place up we still have RYAN WILLIAMS with 35 goals. In fourth place we have ANDY EYLES with SCOTT THOMSON (2) moving back in with a total of 34 goals each. In fifth place all on 33 goals we still have SIMON DICKINSON, DANIEL HUGHES, PATRICK O’DONAGHUE, ADAM SANSOM and coming back in TOBY BICKNELL. In sixth place both still on 32 goals we still have MIKE HARRINGTON and PHIL REEVE.

WEEKEND RESULTS
Only one of our teams were without a game over the weekend and another nine that failed to score any goals. Our top teams are not hitting them big score’s once again this weekend. The weekends average score fell from six goals of last weekend to just 4 goals this weekend. But the good news is that we all once again picked up goals.
The highest score that we had this weekend came from the  Scottish Premiership where HEARTS picked up their highest score of the season by winning 5-2 at home against St Mirren after a three games with out a goal. Hearts are now on a total of 25 goals. 
Hearts are in their thirteenth season with Golden Goals and they first appeared in the 1986/87 Season finishing with a total of 72 goals. They are our eleventh Scottish team for us. Their highest score came in the 2014/15 Season with 98 goals. Last season they finished on a total of 72 goals. Over the years they have scored a total of 855 goals which gives them a total of 65 goals per season. They have just one vote this season and they have picked up a total of six blank score sheets to date.

FA CUP First Round
We had seventeen of our teams in this very first round of the Cup. But out of them, only six have made it through to round two so far. They are OLDHAM who won 2-1 away to non-league Gateshead to take their goals tally up to 22. BLACKPOOL won 4-1 at home to Morecambe and they are now on a total of 28 goals with eight coming from their last two games. PLYMOUTH are there after they won 1-0 away to Bolton to pick up goal number 29. FOREST GREEN ROVERS won 4-0 at home to non-league Billericay. Rovers are now on 24 goals. ROTHERHAM won 3-1 away to non-league Maidenhead Utd and they are now on a total of 31 goals. MANSFIELD can add their name to the list as they won 1-0 at home to non-league Chorley. Mansfield picked up goal number 29 and they have now scored in all of their last seven games.
But the good news is that we do have another six teams in replays. They are DONCASTER who drew 1-1 away to AFC Wimbledon and they are now on 25 goals. NEWCASTLE have now won their fourth league game of the season by winning 2-1 at home to Bournemouth. Newcastle are now on 12 goals. EVERTON have now scored in all of their last five games as they win 2-1 away to Southampton. Everton are now on a total of 21 goals.WEST HAM lost again 3-0 away to Burnley. Leeds have taken their goals tally to 26  while Rovers picked up their 24th goal of the season. NOTTINGHAM FOREST are now in fifth place after they won 1-0 at home to DERBY. Forest are now on 24 goals while Derby picked up their sixth blank of the season and now just three goals in their last five games. After a two game dry spell FULHAM won 1-0 away to BIRMINGHAM to pick up goal number 24 while Birmingham picked up their seventh blank of the season. LUTON picked up their fifth blank score sheet after they lost 3-0 away to Reading. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are now on 22 goals as they drew 2-2 at home to Swansea. BRENTFORD won 3-0 away to Wigan and they are now on a total of 22 goals. CARDIFF lost 1-0 at home to Bristol City and they have now had five blank score sheets this season.  We have the bottom three teams this week. BARNSLEY are now bottom as they lost 4-2 at home to STOKE. Barnsley are now on 16 goals while Stoke move up to second from bottom with their biggest win of the season. After a three game dry spell for goals, they are now on a total of 21 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH are now third from bottom as they drew 2-2 away to QUEENS PARK RANGERS. Brough after four blank score sheets in a row are now on 15 goals. Rangers are now on 29 goals.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Premiership, CELTIC are joint leaders here as they win 2-0 at home to Motherwell and they are now on 48 goals. RANGERS are still with them as they win 2-0 away to Livingston. Rangers are now on 42 goals and a goal run of ten games.
In League One, RAITH ROVERS  have moved to the top here on goal difference after they won 3-1 at home to Stranraer. Rovers are now on32 goals. FALKIRK lost 2-1 at home to Airdrie and they are now on 29 goals. PETERHEAD won 2-1 away to Clyde and they are now on 18 goals. 
In League Two, COVE RANGERS are still top after they won again 1-0 at home to Stirling and they are now on 41 goals. After a three game dry spell for goals, STENHOUSEMUIR picked up their 16th goal after they lost 2-1 away to Albion.

Our Best team is LIVERPOOL this week after they still have a 100% scoring record after fourteen games. They have a total of 35 goals which gives them an average score of 2.5 goals per game.

Our worst team is MK DONS again this weekend as they picked up their tenth blank of the season. The Dons have scored just two goal in their last eleven games. They have a total of 19 goals.

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season is LEICESTER CITY from Week Thirteen as the beat Southampton 9-0 away in the league.  

GUY DOWSETT has stayed at the top for another week after he picked up just four goals this weekend. Guy has now been at the top for a total of fourteen weeks.  Guy has the combination of Celtic, Cove Rangers and Manchester City. Guy is still just one goal in front of  Mike Liddle in second place, after he also picked up just four goals from his teams of  Celtic, Manchester City. and Peterborough.
At the other end at 123 we have The SAINT with their ninth consecutive weekend there. The Saint picked up five goals this week from Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.
