Week Fourteen

In Week Fourteen of the competition we had our seventeenth winner of the season who won on a score of 11 goals. Our winner is MALCOLM STUBBS and he collects the full £6 cash prize money this weekend.
Malcolm has been with Golden Goals for over 24 Seasons and it’s players like him that has kept this competition going.  In our 1996/97 Season, Malcolm finished in 68th place on 236 goals. Last season he finished in 51st place on a total of 298 goals. This season Malcolm is back in the winning frame and his highest position to date is 8th place in Week Two. He has picked up just two blank score sheets and his best team is Celtic. Here are his teams

CARDIFF 4, CELTIC 5, MANCHESTER CITY 2

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Only three of us picked failed to up a goal or two this week and the race for the cash has changed once again. The player to pick up the most goals was NYE COOPER who picked up a total of 14 goals from his combination. They came from Arsenal 5, Liverpool 5 and Rangers 4. That now gives Nye a total of 27 midweek goals.
So in the lead now with a total of 38 goals we still have COLIN WEBB (2). Moving up from sixth place to second we have JACQUI WILLIAMS with 36 goals. In third place up from four is RYAN WILLIAMS with 35 goals. In fourth place up from six we have ANDY EYLES with a total of 34 goals. In fifth place all on 33 goals we have SIMON DICKINSON, DANIEL HUGHES, PATRICK O’DONAGHUE with ADAM SANSOM. In sixth place all on 32 goals we still have RICHARD WILLIAMS but he is now joined with MIKE HARRINGTON and PHIL REEVE.

WEEKEND RESULTS
We had just five of our teams without a game over the weekend and another twelve that failed to score any goals. It’ seems like a few of our top teams had luck on their side to win their games this weekend. The weekends average score for the second weekend running stayed at 6 goals.  Once again we can thank the Celtic/Manchester City combo as they picked up seven goals again between them. But the good news is that we all once again picked up goals.
The highest score that we had this weekend came from the Scottish Betfred Cup Semi-Finals where CELTIC won 5-2 away to Hibernian. Celtic are really going for them goals and they are now on a total of 46 goals. At this stage last season, Celtic were on a total of 34 goals. So they are well on target to get another 100 goals this season which will be their ninetieth and ten seasons in a row. Their highest score was in the 2016/17 Season with 134.

PREMIER LEAGUE
LIVERPOOL have remained top this weekend and they are very luck to be their this week. They went a goal down in the first half against ASTON VILLA but scored two late goals to take the points. Liverpool have now won ten league games out of eleven league games and they have kept their 100% scoring record after thirteen games. Liverpool are now on a total of 32 goals. Villa picked up goal number 27. MANCHESTER CITY are still in second place and still six points behind Liverpool as they win 2-1 at home against Southampton after going a goal down in the first half. City are now on a total of 40 goals. This time last season they were on a total of 38 goals. LEICESTER CITY are still in third place after they won 2-0 away to Crystal Palace and they are now on a total of 35 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eight games.
CHELSEA still in fourth place as they win 2-1 away to Watford. Chelsea are now on a total of 33 goals and they have now scored in all of their last twelve games. ARSENAL are still in fifth place after they drew 1-1 at home to WOLVES to give them a total of 26 goals.Wolves picked up goal 16 and have now scored in all of their last twelve games. TOTTENHAM drew 1-1 away to EVERTON and they are now on 17 goals while Everton are now on 19.  MANCHESTER UNITED have picked up their third blank of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Bournemouth. NEWCASTLE won their third league game of the season by winning 3-2 away to WEST HAM. Newcastle with their biggest result of the season are now on 10 goals while West Ham are on 16. SHEFFIELD UNITED picked up their biggest result to date after they won 3-0 at home to Burnley. United are now on a total of 14 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP
PRESTON are now top here on goal difference after they 1-0 away to Charlton. Preston have taken their goals tally to 34 goals. LEEDS UNITED have moved back to second place after they won 2-0 at home against QUEENS PARK RANGERS. Leeds have taken their goals tally to 24  while Rangers picked up their fifth blank of the season. BLACKBURN won 2-1 at home to SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY and they are now on 23 goals to Wednesday’s 20.HUDDERSFIELD won 1-0 away to BRENTFORD and that is their 17th goal of the season. Brentford picked up their seventh blank score sheet. CARDIFF picked up their highest result of the season by winning 4-2 at home to BIRMINGHAM. Cardiff are now on 23 goals while Birmingham are on 16. DERBY won 2-0 at home to MIDDLESBROUGH to give them a total of 19 goals. Brough picked up their seventh blank and now four in a row. FULHAM picked up their fifth blank score sheet and now two in a row after they lost 3-0 at home to Hull. LUTON lost 2-1 at home against NOTTINGHAM FOREST and that is their 28th goal of the season while Forest are now on 23.  

LEAGUE ONE
Ipswich are down to second place as they had no game this week. PETERBOROUGH are still in third place after they lost 4-3 away to BLACKPOOL. Borough are now on a total of 39 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seven games. Blackpool picked up their biggest win of the season and they are now on a total of 24 goals. ACCRINGTON STANLEY picked up their fifth blank and now three in a row after they drew 0-0 away to Coventry. LINCOLN CITY after a three game dry spell for goals are now on 21 after they drew 1-1 away to AFC Wimbledon. DONCASTER drew 2-2 at home to Burton and they are now on 24 goals. ROTHERHAM are now on 28 goals as they win 3-0 away to Gillingham. After a dry spell of five games with out a goal, MK DONS picked up goal number 19 after they lost 3-1 at home to Tranmere. PORTSMOUTH drew 1-1 at home to Oxford Utd and that is their 21st goal of the season. It’s 30 goals for SUNDERLAND after they won 1-0 at home to SOUTHEND who picked up blank number six.

LEAGUE TWO
FOREST GREEN ROVERS are our top team here in the top spot after they won 2-1 away to Cheltenham. Rovers are now on 20 goals. BRADFORD have moved up to second place as they win 2-0 at home to Exeter. Bradford are now on 24 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eleven games. MANSFIELD lost 3-2 at home to Colchester but they are now on a total of 28 goals and they have scored in all of their last six games. LEYTON ORIENT lost 1-0 away to bottom of the table Morecambe to pick up their fifth blank score sheet. SALFORD CITY are now on 21 goals as they win 2-1 away to Newport. It’s 20 goals for OLDHAM as they drew 2-2 at home to Northampton. SCUNHORPE drew 0-0 at home to Stevenage and that is their seventh blank of the season after a goal run of six games.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Betfred Cup Semi-Finals, we had three of the four teams still in this round. We already know that Celtic are in the final on 8th December and they will be playing their RANGERS who won 3-0 at home to HEARTS. Rangers are now on 40 goals and they have now scored in all of their last nine games. Hearts picked up their sixth blank and now three in a row.

In League One, FALKIRK have moved to the top here after they won 2-0 away to Forfar. Falkirk are now on 28 goals. RAITH ROVERS are now down to second place after they lost 2-0 away to PETERHEAD. After a goal run of eleven games, Rovers have picked up their third blank of the season. Peterhead after a two game dry spell for goals, are now on 16.
In League Two, COVE RANGERS are still top after they won again 3-1 away to Cowdenbeath. Rangers are now on 40 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR picked up their fifth blank and now three in a row as they lost 3-0 at home to Queen’s Park.

Our Best team is LIVERPOOL this week after they still have a 100% scoring record after thirteen games. They have a total of 32 goals which gives them an average score of 2 goals per game.

Our worst team is MK DONS this weekend even though they picked up a goal this weekend. The Dons have scored just two goal in their last ten games. They have a total of 19 goals.

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season is LEICESTER CITY from Week Thirteen as the beat Southampton 9-0 away in the league.  

GUY DOWSETT has moved back to the top this weekend after he picked up a total of 18 goals from his combination of Celtic, Cove Rangers and Manchester City. Guy is just one goal in front of last weeks leader Mike Liddle who picked up a total of 15 goals from his teams of  Celtic, Manchester City. and Peterborough.
At the other end at 123 we have The SAINT with their eighth consecutive weekend there. The Saint picked up another six goals this week from Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.

It's all change again in the top ten this weekend.
